CPAC 2019 is coming up soon and while I attended the last two and as always conducted extensive interviews, but this year my finances and the balance of my debts made it impractical to take the time off. Part of being conservative is not spending money you don’t have and while Stacy McCain has kindly offered to share his room it’s too late to get the time off from work and as my finances didn’t allow the trip I didn’t bother to get credentialed.
One of the sad things about missing CPAC is not seeing friends like Debra “Nicedeb” Heine Friday at PJ media she noted that the attack in Berkeley was not done in a vacuum:
Will anyone in the MSM say anything about this alarming trend?
Well they might if the MSM decided that anything about this trend was alarming.
In 2016 when I was trying to decide if I was going to support Donald Trump it was Father Frank Pavone’s assurance before the GOP convention that he would be pro-life that allowed me to to so. Boy was he right:
Donald Trump likes to remind people about how often he keeps his promises. Pro-lifers have new reason to agree after the administration issued a final draft on a new HHS rule that could cut $60 million from Planned Parenthood’s haul at the federal trough. The new Title X regulation bars reimbursements to any facilities that perform abortions or formally refers women to abortion facilities:
It’s worth noting that when the GOP Senate had the chance to completely defund Planned Parenthood was as staunchly pro-life it took the same Donald Trump that so many in the party insisted was a phony to do what they did not.
the letter which organizers say included dozens of employee signatures at publication time
Dozens? From a company the size of Microsoft? I guess in the age of chromebooks and IE going from ubiquitous to invisible they’re lucky to get dozens to publicly speak against the sure thing that a government contract is.
Goose Goslin homered twice and Boston managed just three hits as the 1924 Washington Senators completed their sweep of the 2004 Boston Red Sox 2-0
The Senators got on base early and often against Derek Lowe (L 0-1) and seemed to run at will in the 1st Bucky Harris walked and stole both 2nd and 3rd with one out when Joe Judge hit a grounder to 2nd. Mark Bellhorn made an excellent pickup and rifled the ball home in time to cut off Harris at the plate. Judge promptly stole 2nd but Muddy Ruel grounded to short to stop the threat.
This would be a repeated theme throughout the game as Washington runners would be caught off base. After the Goslin solo shot to right leading off the 2nd Peckinpaugh followed with a double only to be caught off base when Caberea speared Wid Matthews line drive. In the 4th with Judge on 2nd Goslin singled to left but Manny Ramirez gunnded down Judge at the plate, in the 7th Peckinpaugh was picked off by Lowe, in the 8th Sam Rice was caught stealing off of reliever Terry Adams AND both the 8th and the 9th would end for Washington with runners caught trying to take third after singles.
Meanwhile while Boston had their chances against Joe Martina (1-0) they just couldn’t make things happen in the 4th the Sox had two men on with none out and the bases loaded with two out but couldn’t push a run across. in the 7th David Ortiz would single to center and an errant throw by Penkinpaugh trying to turn a double play would put Millar on 2nd with one out Martina hung tough leaving the tying on on base in the 7th and 8th before Goslin would connect for his 2nd Homer of the day to give him a two run cushen.
The best chance for Boston came in the ninth with one out David Ortiz doubled to left and Goslin misplayed it getting him to 3rd with one out. Relief ace Fripo Marberry (S2) came in and intentionally walked Millar before Orlando Carbera hit a scorching liner to the left which looked off the bat as if it would easily score Ortiz and put the winning run on 1st but Penkinpaugh chose this moment to make up for his baserunning and throwing errors with a spectacular leaping catch retiring Carbera followed by a lighting fast throw doubling off Ortiz to preserve the shutout and end the game.
Notes: Goslin’s 2 Home Runs were the 1st two hit by Washington batters this season. Johnny Damon’s two outfield assists are the most he has managed in one game in his entire career. Washington stole six bases in this game, none of them resulting in runs. Walter Johnson is expected to start in the opener at Yankee Stadium.
