Lenten Reflections 1st Saturday of Lent: confess Confess CONFESS!

One of the best things about Lent is that almost every parish I’ve ever run seen always offers extra confessions during the season.

Alas it is not uncommon for some priests to find their confessional empty during the scheduled times for confession at normal time and it’s even worse when a priest during extra Lenten confession time ends up sitting in a confessional reading a book or something.

Of all the sacraments confession is my favorite because it restores the bonds between us and God that our sins break and the fact that the Lord continues to give us 2nd third and seventy time seven chances when we don’t deserve it a a tribute to not only his incredible love for us but our incredible luck.

That so many Catholics for whatever reason choose not to take advantage of this sacrament during the course of the year is horrible, but to fail to take advantage of the grace of God during Lent a time of repentance, I just don’t have the words for it.

So let me steal a line from Father Z and give the best advice one catholic can ever give to another:

GO TO CONFESSION!
