With Radio Stations removing Michael Jackson from their playlists and even the Simpsons are removing his episode from their rotation and new DVD it’s easy to forget that the revelations in the latest Documentary concerning Michael Jackson and children not only confirmed things that the general public suspected was true.
However it’s much more important to consider given what we’ve seen in the Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer It’s logical to assume that many if not everyone already knew as a fact what the public only now has confirmation of but tolerated it because there was an awful lot of money to be made.
That’s why I believe the rush to erase connections to Michael Jackson in the industry is more about self protection than outrage or contrition.
Either way it’s wrong. I say leave everything, let it be acknowledged that a person might be a superlative artist and a genius musician while still being a sick and/or evil SOB.
One of the advantage of YouTube and Amazon is the plethora of what was then called “B” movies from what was called “Poverty Row” from the 30’s and 40’s. There are plenty of decent pictures that might have been the equivalent of a quality TV show of today. Alas I suspect that
Last week’s Orville continues the streak of really good episodes for the 2nd year series. It continues to be the general consensus of the fans that it’s far superior to anything the Doctor Who, Star Wars and Star Trek franchises has to offer these days. Now that I’ve gone back and watched the episodes I’ve missed I can confidently say as someone who 1st saw Trek in the 60’s & TNG as it was broadcast, watched the original Star Wars in the theaters, 1st Discovered Doctor who in 1976 that Seth MacFarline has produced a franchise that can stand up with the best of them on it’s own merits and not just because the competition has been weak lately.
Dickie’s Grillin’ in Fitchburg MA has just closed its doors, they join Godfreys Grille, Liberty Pizza and the Moran Square Diner the last one which had been serving the city for decades that have closed their doors in the last few months. Some of this has been due to over-regulation (Tj BBQ decided to go to Worcester due to Fitchburg’s draconian rules) but much of it has to do with the new minimum wage laws. And just think there are four more minimum wage hikes due to be implemented in the next four years not to mention new regulations. I asked the owner of a pizzeria that’s been in town for decades if he thinks he’ll be able to survive considering that he doesn’t have the economies of scale that a Domino’s or a Little Ceasers has to fall back on. He said that depends on if people who are paying $6 for a small cheese pizza today. An owner of a local diner tells me the same.
It’s amazing how many people in state government who still haven’t figured out the real minimum wage regardless of the law remains at zero.
Finally the Boston Bruins have been surging to the top of the NHL standings and the Boston Celtics after a rough patch picked up back to back wins vs Golden State and Sacramento. It’s becoming a real possibility that we could have three title holders in the city at once and not out of the realm of possibility to reach four.
It’s one of the few compensations for us conservatives who remain and the delight if it happens will be one thing that Candidate Warren and I will be happy to be on the same side of.
