A Tribute to Our Mothers (Moms)

This is Mother’s Day weekend and a flood of memories fill my soul.

First and foremost, I want to take a moment to commend the thousands and millions of Mothers who Love, Instruct, Teach, and Sacrifice for your families. Collectively you embody these words penned by Solomon thousands of years ago:

“A Virtuous Woman who can find? Her worth is far more valuable than rubies” (Proverbs31:10)!

Where would our nation be without the tireless sacrifices of faithful Mothers?

The percentage of children of all races that have been abandoned by their Fathers is staggering. When California established “No-Fault Divorce” (an interesting and yet bizarre concept) in 1969 they helped to continue a chain of events that has led to devastating consequences for the traditional family unit.

Children today are more dependent on the care and love from their Mothers as never before.
Again words from Solomon are comforting and reassuring:

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all” (Proverbs 31:2829)

The Sexual Revolution of the 1960s freed many men to pursue hedonistic pursuits (not all Men), and left Women and many single Mothers to pick up the pieces of a fragmented family culture.

Continuing Words of Tribute

To All of the courageous and compassionate Mothers from every Faith, Creed, Color and Economic station of Life, I Stand and Salute You!

As Mothers, You are the embodiment of Solomon’s descriptions of the Virtuous Woman. Here is a small sample of additional verses from Proverbs 31:1517 that speak to the Heart:

15 “She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.”

This year’s Mother’s Day celebration is bitter sweet.

Over the last four years, both my Mother and my Mother-in-Love have transitioned from this earthly life and into a Heavenly eternity. They are greatly missed. This is the case with many of us who are Baby Boomers or members of Generation X. We are watching the Greatest Generation depart from us at an alarming rate.

Saint James wrote many years ago: “Your (our) lives are but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away” (James 4:14 ).

Yet, this weekend is not a time for melancholy.

There are countless Mothers who need our Love and constant Encouragement. In a time of national unrest, political strife, and moral confusion, our Mothers need to know that those of us who depend on them daily Love, Honor, and Adore then.

To my Wife I say, I am honored among All men to be specifically paired with you in this life. You are an Outstanding and Wonderful Wife and Mother.

To All of the Beautiful Mothers in this great Country of ours, I say,

Happy Mother’s Day!!!

29 “Many women do noble things,
      but you surpass them all” (Proverbs 31:28-29)

The Sexual Revolution of the 1960s freed many men to pursue hedonistic pursuits (not all Men), and left Women and many single Mothers to pick up the pieces of a fragmented family culture.

 Continuing Words of Tribute

To All of the courageous and compassionate Mothers from every Faith, Creed, Color and Economic station of Life, I Stand and Salute You!

As Mothers, You are the embodiment of Solomon’s descriptions of the Virtuous Woman.  Here is a small sample of additional verses from Proverbs 31:15-17 that speak to the Heart:

15 “She gets up while it is still night;
    she provides food for her family
    and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
    out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
    her arms are strong for her tasks.”
