Will anyone actually watch the Democrat Debates?

Can you think of anything that promises to be less informative than the Democrat Debates.

They have the same weakness as the GOP ones did, that is a huge field meaning only a few minutes to each candidate but in addition to that problem you have two problems that the GOP debates did not.

The first difference, during the GOP debates the goal of the press was to permanently wound every candidate. With this goal the questions were pointed and confrontational in the hopes of answers that might hurt the candidate questioned and every other GOP candidate in the field.

With the Democrat debate, the press may want to shield their favorite candidates but even the also rans are Democrat office holders that they will want to protect. This will mean a lot of softballs with a lot of pat answers.

I’m sure that’s going to peak the interest of the general public.

That’s bad but more important the Democrat debate doesn’t have the one thing that made the GOP debates unique, Donald Trump.

To be sure he will be there in spirit. All the Democrat candidates will be attacking the President relentlessly, but that’s something that can be seen on almost every single cable/news channel every single day. What they won’t have is Trump himself.

Donald Trump brought his own celebrity to the debate, nobody knew what he was going to say, how he was going to say it or what he was going to do. It added a level of drama and entertainment to what would normally be fodder for political geeks into something that the general public actually wanted to watch. There were a lot of adjectives thrown at those debates. “Boring” was not one of them.

The only way you are going to get people to watch the Democrat debate is if somebody broadcasts President Trump watching said debate and throwing zingers and the various candidates as they speak.

Now THAT’s TV that would draw eyeballs.
