Kamala and the San Francisco machine

If people really want Kamala Harris to become president, it’s important to look at her political pedigree.

Harris comes from one of the most corrupt political machines in the country: San Francisco.

She was groomed by boyfriend Willie Brown, the longtime speaker of the California State Assembly and former mayor of San Francisco. She was in her twenties at the time; he was in his fifties. Brown put her on the political map by appointing her to a state government job.

A few years earlier, Brown backed another political neophyte: Reverend Jim Jones, the head of the Peoples Temple, which provided widespread support to the Democratic machine of San Francisco.

From 1975 to 1978, Brown supported Jones while he was being investigated by a variety of government agencies for criminal acts and fraud. At a testimonial dinner for Jones, Brown described the Peoples Temple leader as “a combination of Martin Luther King, Angela Davis, Albert Einstein, [and] Chairman Mao.”

The Peoples Temple proved critical to another member of the San Francisco power crew: Dianne Feinstein, the other senator from California.

What has the San Francisco machine wrought? One of the most beautiful cities in the world has become a cesspool of poop and homelessness, with a massive income difference between the wealthy and the poor.

The city distributes hypodermic needles for free to protect drug users from disease. At the same time, the city bans the use of another plastic item: the drinking straw.

San Francisco spends almost $1 billion a year to help the homeless — an average of about $100,000 per person — while the city has one of the largest concentrations of billionaires in the country.

At one point, a United Nations representative compared the homeless condition on the streets as similar to those she had seen in Mumbai, India. At the same time, the median household income for home buyers is more than $300,000 a year because of the outrageous cost of housing.

Recently, the school board decided to spend $600,000 to destroy murals of George Washington’s life that were deemed not to be politically correct.

Simply put, San Francisco is a mess, created by liberal policies going back to the 1960s and the days of hippies and drugs during the Summer of Love.

San Francisco is where Kamala Harris cut her political teeth. Is that really what America wants to become? I hope not.

The city distributes hypodermic needles for free to protect drug users from disease. At the same time, the city bans the use of another plastic item: the drinking straw.

San Francisco spends almost $1 billion a year to help the homeless—an average of about $100,000 per person—while the city has one of the largest concentrations of billionaires in the country.
