Had to drop off the wife to work and her car to the garage so late to Morning Joe. Ironically on Imus today Doris Kearns Goodwin was echoing Andrea Mitchell in the its no big deal business. She has no excuse she grew up in a working class house.

8:01 a.m. Calling William Henry Harrison’s start as worse than the president is unfair. He lasted a month before dying and didn’t make the same mistakes that this president had.

8:06 a.m. Tell me since ball clubs stadiums are often paid for with public funds are we going to get a pay limit on players. I guess Manny might have been wrong turning down that 20 million

8:09 a.m. Would Ronald Reagan say to Tip that “I won”? Noonan After 6 p.m. with some wine in him.

8:12 a.m. Isn’t the money that Wells Fargo was going to spend on their employees money that provides stimulus to the economy?

8:15 a.m. There is a time for profits? What is the point of being in business if you are not trying to make profits? A business that is not trying to be profitable isn’t a business, it is a hobby or a charity.

8:23 a.m It’s amazing how once the poll numbers on the package tanked and the thought that the emperor might not have clothes how people like Huffington suddenly will come up against it.

8:29 a.m. You know the small local banks in town here are doing fine.

8:31 a.m. Back to back commercials,

Then this:

The standard MSNBC viewer’s heads are going to blow up on this one.

8:36 a.m. Mark Haynes: Get people on who know what they are talking about…”Ariana doesn’t know what she is saying”

8:39 a.m. Edited the 8:31 entry to replace the descriptions of the ads with the ads themselves. Since our friends on the left reflexively believe both of these sources as gospel they are likely to go Kryten.

8:41 a.m. Only in America are the poor fat. Who said that last week?

8:42 a.m. Mentioning that the Army has fat camps for recruits.

8:43 a.m. The ethics of the octuplets. They are all crying foul. I wonder if they would be crying if she aborted them. At game night the cry was jail the mother and take the kids away. I thought that liberals decided that a woman’s right to control reproduction is absolute?

8:46 a.m. Avoid dying? You can put it off but you can’t avoid it.

8:56 a.m. This is the age of Blago, and Mika is still rather fetching in those black boots. (Does anyone say fetching anymore?)

I mentioned this morning while Morning Joe blogging that I didn’t care for Andrea Mitchell. Its for reasons like this:

During MSNBC’s live coverage on Tuesday of the sudden resignation of Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle, reporter Andrea Mitchell suggested to Republican Senator Jim DeMint that the American public will see this as the GOP having “brought him [Daschle] down.” The Democratic nominee resigned over a growing controversy which revealed that the former Senate majority leader owed $140,000 in back taxes. (He has since paid them.) Mitchell sympathetically described talking to the ex-senator: “I just got off the phone with Tom Daschle. And it was an emotional conversation. He was clearly- it sounded as though he were tearful, overwrought.”

So let me get this straight. Tom “Tax cheats should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law” Daschle didn’t pay 140k in back taxes. The GOP objects and he ends up withdrawing and this is a BAD thing?

I certainly hope the GOP gets blamed for this.

Update: Added the missing “l” and Doris Kearns Goodwin is in that turf today.

tonight is game night and its my choices of games. Did Napaleon in Europe last time and I got slaughtered.

I’m torn between Age of Empires the boardgame or Talisman. I haven’t played Age in a long time while Talisman has a new expansion that I haven’t given a shot to.

Well after a full family dinner of NY Sirloin, Brishole, Spinach and green salad, Fresh chicken breast Patties, baked potatoes , sauteed onions and peas I’ve settled on Age of Empires

…it is still only two weeks into the Obama administration. A bad start doesn’t mean a horrible finish. See Redsox v Yankees 2004 Playoffs.

It just seems longer because of all the adoration that took place in December and Jan and the calls for President Bush to step down.

That’s not to say I’m expecting much better but we are less that 1% into the first term, lets keep some perspective here.

Update: Glenn agrees

Tim Callahan doesn’t think much of the new Sgt. Rock Mini series The lost Battalion:

A Sgt. Rock comic without the artistic presence of Joe Kubert is likely doomed to failure — or at least doomed to constant comparisons — and Billy Tucci is smart enough to deal with the Kubert situation in the first panel of page one. He gives us a character drawing a picture of Kubert’s Rock, immediately signaling to the reader that Kubert’s version may be the “fictional” one, and Tucci’s is the “real” story of the World War II hero, complete with digital painting and plenty of photo-reference.

That Kubert-looking Sgt. Rock is the best thing in the comic, sadly.

Tucci is not Joe Kubert but he doesn’t have to be. He is Billy Tucci and that is more than enough. You will find the artwork first rate and the story even better. The series is currently on issue 3 and I can’t wait for issue 4.

There are very few comics these days worth your time. This one is.

…not cabinet posts.

Earlier Tuesday, Nancy Killefer withdrew as nominee to be the first chief performance officer for the federal government. Her threat to withdraw was first reported by NBC News. The White House later released her letter to the president, which in part stated: “I recognize that your agenda and the duties facing your Chief Performance Officer are urgent. I have also come to realize in the current environment that my personal tax issue of D.C. unemployment tax could be used to create exactly the kind of distraction and delay those duties must avoid.

With Daschle’s withdrawal this gives the Obama administration two new chances to generate revineue for the treasury without raising any new taxes. There must be more Democratic deadbeats out there. He wasted an opportunity with the Gregg nomination. No unpaid taxes. Cripes we are on a roll here.

Hotair asks a relevant question.

Follow the timeline here. Daschle knew he had a tax problem last June; Geithner knew he had a tax problem no later than November. Killefer’s problem dates to 2005. Point being, none of this came as any eleventh-hour surprise to Obama’s vetters … and yet all three were nominated anyway.

Because they are trying to generate revenue streams. And you thought scrappleface was just making a funny. More importantly if John McCain won would any of that money have been paid?

…If Iran is successfully launching satellites:

The Iranian regime announced it launched its first homemade satellite into orbit today.
FOX News reported:

Iran has successfully sent its first domestically made satellite into orbit, state radio reported Tuesday, another development in the country’s ambitious space program that has worried many international observers.

Once Iran can put a nuclear warhead on one of these babies the war will come. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Israeli first strike and I don’t know if I would blame them.

If there is a more horrible prospect on the horizon then I don’t know what it is.

Back in December on the war in Gaza I said this:

My take on it. This is a strategic move by Iran and a smart one. I personally think this is Iran’s war by proxy. Their best next move is an attack by Hezbollah as soon as possible. This would serve two purposes. It will divide the Israeli response and if it suckers Israel into Lebanon it could not only bog them down but might change the direction of the propaganda war.

Unfortunately no matter what happens even a total Israeli victory the winner here is Iran. As long as the world is talking about Gaza and rocket attacks and responses they are not touching the ongoing building of Nukes by Iran. I think this is all a sucker punch to keep the heat elsewhere. If Israel is hitting Gaza and or Lebanon they are not hitting Iranian nuke sites. They are buying time with Arab rather than Persian lives.

This news might be the confirmation. Maybe that’s why the rockets are flying from Gaza again. Disrupt and distract any kind of planned Israeli move against Iran wasn’t as odd as it sounded.

Not stopping Iran will be the biggest failure of the Bush administration. The question is soon going to become if it will cost thousands of lives to do so or millions of lives not to.

Lets all pray I’m dead wrong on this.

Update: Hotair points out that this makes the president dropping starwars unlikely:

Time magazine warned the left two weeks after the election not to get their hopes up about Obama revisiting Star Wars, citing quotes from during the campaign like, “I actually believe that we need missile defense because of Iran and North Korea and the potential for them to obtain or to launch nuclear weapons.” I’d say their prediction is safe.

Will it be enough?

There are two Americas, the one that pays taxes and the one that doesn’t.

What is it with the Obama administration and tax cheats? First Obama puts a tax delinquent in charge of the IRS, and then he nominates another revenue renegade to be his secretary of Health and Human Services. Sure, he’s against tax cuts for the rich, but rich Democrats who ignore their taxes are welcome in his cabinet.

As always we get the government we deserve and if we as Americans accept this then its our own fault. On a political level if the republicans can’t exploit this, biased media or no, then we have no business in politics.
