Sheriff Bart: Oh, baby, you’re so talented… and they are so dumb.

Blazing Saddles 1974

Because I’m on vacation (it’s so odd to be somewhere an not waiting to interview someone or have to work) I’m not paying attention to things as closely as I might but I was rather shocked to see this headline at Hotair:

Reports: Trump Allies Furious About Shots Taken At Him During McCain’s Funeral, Want Him To Respond

This headline seemed completely counterintuitive to me and in the Hotair article Allahpundit said exactly what I was thinking:

Trump is better off shrugging off the jabs and declining to return them. He won. He has nothing left to prove. Meghan’s shots at him weren’t taken from a position of strength, like when Obama goofed on him to his face at the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner while official Washington laughed. They were taken from a position of weakness, in a moment of grief both for her dad and for the sort of political sensibility he represented, which is now also passing from the scene. That may explain why Ivanka and Jared felt comfortable showing up. They weren’t outnumbered. It was everyone else in the room who’s outnumbered.

Or put simply the worst thing Trump could do is counterattack here since it would change the narrative to one that favors his political victory to one that does not.

As this was very obvious to me I went to the Politico article that it linked to read it for myself and I kept waiting for quotes from Trump allies demanding that he go online and respond.

I saw this:

As Washington mourned McCain, Trump’s people grew angry. Some even hoped for — but didn’t get — a blistering tweet from the president. And they privately chastised Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Trump’s daughter and son-in-law, for attending the senator’s memorial service.

“@realDonaldTrump ran for @POTUS ONE time and WON,” tweeted Katrina Pierson, an adviser to Trump’s campaign. “Some people will never recover from that.”

and I saw this

His friends and allies fumed. Trump had endured a week of criticism for his handling of McCain’s death, but the eulogy from the late senator’s daughter Meghan was the last straw, according to three people close to the White House.

But I looked high and low and I didn’t see anyone advocating Trump going on the attack against his own interest nor did Politico name such a person and that’s when I figured it out.

The people upset that Trump didn’t attack aren’t Trump’s “Allies”, it’s Politico and Trump’s enemies.

I surmise that the #nevertrump left completely expected a Trump counterattack and actually felt freer about attacking him because they were sure they would be able to pivot any outrage to any counter attack that the President would make.

But Trump so far has been too smart to attack a woman upset at her father’s death and unless that changes it’s very likely that #mccainstone will be to #nevertrump in 2018 what Wellstone was to the Democrats in 2002.

I submit and suggest that Politico was trying to either trick Trump into changing his mind about responding or if that doesn’t work to try and create a new narrative with supporters of Trump being the villain that Trump refuses to be.

In other words, this entire story is fake news.

However this tweet is not

Apparently plan C for the left will be to normalize funerals as political events.  I’m sure this will play well with voters in swing states in 2018

How on earth does President Trump manage to get such stupid foes?

Tuesday’s primary results in Florida was a bit of a surprise on both sides of the aisle but also give the people in Florida one of the clearest choices in the nation in terms of the direction they want to go.

On the GOP side an establishment republican Adam Pullman with an acceptable record on the state level was blown away by Congressman Ron DeSantos who topped 56% in a six man field but outperformed the polling in the state by 15 to 24 points depending on the poll.

DeSantos went all in for both President Trump and the wall in what is considered a swing state and apparently that was the difference between a plurality and a clear overwhelming majority

On the Democrat side the surprise was even greater as a daughter of a former Governor and Senator who was not shown behind in any poll was defeated not by her closest rival but by the mayor of Tallahassee Andrew Gillum who is as far left as they come having been  endorsed by both Bernie Sanders and Tom Steyer

The real interesting thing here is in the five candidate field both Gwen Graham and her chief rival Philip Levine outperformed their polling average Graham by 5.5 pts and Levine by 1.5 pts but Gillum blew away the polling.  His polling average was 12% going into election night and he finished with 34% of the vote.

Or to put it another way according to the polls  26% of the GOP electorate and 23% of the Democrat electorate was undecided and unless the polls were spectacularly wrong just about every undecided republican went for DeSantos, Trump Man and every single undecided Democrat went with Gillum the Bernie Bro.

This is horrible news for the establishment in both parties but in my opinion it’s great news for the country as a whole.  Jazz Shaw puts it well:

The state parties had their own preferences, but for Florida’s voters, it seems to have wound up being a battle between President Trump and the combined forces of Bernie Sanders and billionaire donor Tom Steyer. (There’s an odd combination for you, eh? A socialist and a guy who rode capitalism to the halls of financial power.) While everything can (and likely will) change over the course of two years, this race can almost be seen as a microcosm of 2020.

To be sure there are some twists, you have two ethnic candidates where the whole black vs Hispanic thing could get interesting and there are some corruption issues in Gillum’s city that might sway a vote or two but the big thing is Gillum’s platform based on his advertising is as left as you can get:  Jazz Shaw again

BEAT THE NRA
HEALTHCARE FOR ALL
$1 BILLION FOR EDUCATION
BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS
$15 MINIMUM WAGE
ABOLISH AND REPLACE ICE
END STAND YOUR GROUND
LEGALIZE MARIJUANA
IMPEACH TRUMP

Not exactly a moderate platform, eh? We’ll see how that plays on the Redneck Riviera.

Now here in Massachusetts you might not be able to tell if that was the platform of the Republican or Democrat candidate for governor (if you don’t believe me remember our republican Governor just signed a $15 minimum wage bill and pot stores are opening up all over the state) but in normal and sane parts of the country this is as loony left as it comes.

Which means that barring a sudden turn to the left by DeSantos or to the right by Gillum, which I suspect neither sides base would forgive Florida has been given the rare privilege of a clear distinct choice between two paths for their state.  Trump & Capitalism, or Bernie and Socialism, or as Rush puts it does Florida want to be America or does Florida want to be Venezuela.

Barring some unforeseen revelation that torpedoes one candidate or the other this is what it’s going to come down to.

I think it’s very healthy for voters to have such a clear choice and to choose their fate. For the sake of their state I hope they make the right choice but either way Florida voters will get the government they deserve.

Donald Trump in NH Aug 15 2015

DaTechGuy: Mr. Trump hundreds of people were waiting in line to see you today, and another 120 were waiting without tickets I interviewed a bunch of them and there were democrats who were crossing over and such. What are they seeing that the GOP establishment and some of the people in this room might not be seeing?

Donald Trump: I love that question.

August 19th 2015 Derry NH

If you are a regular listener to the MSM you might find yourself confused that despite every single one of Trump’s Endorsed candidates winning yesterday the media is portraying the results as signs of doom for the GOP.

Part of this of course is because as Democrats with bylines their primary purpose is to aid the Democrats and liberals in general and defeat republicans and conservative so having already decided on the narrative of doom and despair for the President and the GOP they were going to proclaim it as gospel.

After all they weren’t about to let a little thing like the actual results get in the way.

However in fairness there is a smidgen of truth hidden in their narrative. By every normal standard the GOP should be in trouble. Because of the big red wave in 2010 and 2014 in the house and thanks to the Trump victory in 2016 there are a lot of GOP seats to be defended in districts a lot less red than these. By any reasonable standard even with favorable maps drawn after the 2010 census the left should be able to pick up quite a few of them, perhaps even enough to take back the house.

But there is a wild card in play and that wild card is Donald Trump and the people who turn out for him.

The Trump base aren’t the activists who would normally turn out anyway for the GOP his base are people who would not normally be bothered with general elections let alone midterms. This has been true from day one

Many of them aren’t republicans at all as I noted the very first time I asked candidate Trump a question at a news conference.

It is these voters who normally would not even notice a special election like the ones going on who turned out for Trump.

At the very first event that I covered Donald Trump at I asked this question:

It will be interesting to see what happens with his next event in the state? Will it draw a different audience, will familiar political faces (that I didn’t see many of here) show up, or will it basically be “Trump Groupies”

We now know the answer. Trump turned out a different audience that was enough to win in 2016 and may be enough to save the GOP in 2018.

Lucky for the GOP candidates in marginal districts they don’t have to count on the GOP leadership to figure this out. Donald Trump is smart enough to understand this and with his agenda at stake will undoubtedly do his best to get his voters out in marginal districts to make the difference.

Expect to see a lot more rallies like the ones held last week over the next three months as Trump does what he does best, Win!

OK you’re the Democrats hoping to create a blue wave. You have spent two years insisting that Donald Trump is evil incarnate and last week the entire MSM and parts of the deep state have insisted that Donald Trump is a traitor but your message doesn’t seem to be resonating with the voters in the swing districts you need to take the house, the Senate map is an impossibility and the new Supreme Court vacancy can’t help but get conservative voter to turn out for senate races. Even worse the economy continues to zoom along raising all boats, including black and “Hispanic” voters who remember the lean years under Obama.

You have one thing going for you however, your base is energized and angry, so as long as your opponents are not you just might be able to turn out enough voters in enough districts to make things work out.

So to claim a victory in the house and declare a mandate however shakey, all you have to do is make sure that the very patriotic working class white voters in the swing house districts who turned out for Donald Trump are not affected by key senate races, are not energized to vote for the GOP on election day, particularly not by anyone who is viewed as allies of their faces in congress:

and we especially don’t want them to be seen muscling folks:

Because the last thing we need is one of the faces of the party having to disavow supporters burning US flags:

U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters said that the counterprotesters who burned and stomped on an American flag outside her California office this week, while exercising their right to express themselves, were also acting to further “their own agenda.”

And the only thing worse than the face of our leaders having to disavow our friends burning flags is to have the whole NFL kneeling stuff blow up during the season around election time to the consternation of the fans.

The NFL and National Football League Players Association have agreed to halt enforcement of rules regarding the new national anthem policy while the two sides work on a resolution.

The league and its players union issued a joint statement late Thursday, hours after The Associated Press reported that Miami Dolphins players who protest on the field during the anthem could be suspended for up to four games under a team policy issued this week.

because that would give Trump a chance to respond

US President Donald Trump again goaded the NFL over its handling of controversial national anthem protests on Friday, a day after the league said it would hold off on enforcing a new policy.

“The NFL National Anthem Debate is alive and well again – can’t believe it!,” Trump tweeted.

“Isn’t it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand.

and this would keep the story alive all the way though election day and that will be the end of the big blue wave.

and finally with Immigration the biggest issue according voters we certainly don’t want sitting senators talking about abolishing ICE

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) said Sunday that the “first thing” Democrats should do if they flip the House and Senate is to “get rid of” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“So when we flip the House and flip the Senate, I think the first thing we should do is deal with the children who have been separated from their families at the border. I think we should get rid of ICE,” Sen. Gillibrand said at New York City’s OZY Fest 2018.

I mean cripes the only thing worse for us would be if they were talking gun control or more socialized medicine:

Gillibrand wants to push through a whole package of gun-control laws, including one aimed at something called “large magazine clips.” It’s great to see ignorance so enthusiastically on display in public by elected officials, right? Then, after acknowledging that the federal government takeover of health insurance markets failed badly in ObamaCare, Gillibrand then advises that Democrats want the federal government to take the whole thing over with “Medicare for All.”

But lucky for the Democrats Trump’s enemies certainly aren’t stupid enough to do and say stuff like this are they?

Sheriff Jason McCullough: You might as well come on, like it or not, we’re on the same side now

Support Your Local Sheriff 1969

Back when I was in college and we had pretty much one Judeo Christian Culture and the whacko liberalism that we see office holders display proudly was a fringe so small that only in the craziest colleges were they ever mentioned there was one pretty basic fact of life for a large national businessman, stay friendly with both political parties.

Yeah you might hold a fundraiser for your favorite or make an appearance but almost invariably a business would make sure to hedge their bets and make sure they had friends on both sides of the aisle.  Furthermore if it became clear that one side was going to win, business’ make it a point to make sure they were on good speaking turns.

This was one of the reasons why the Clinton Foundation was doing so well in racking in the dough before the election, everyone believed she was going to be the winner and the money poured in.  and it’s also why the money dried up the moment it was clear she was finished.

So when I read that Elton Musk was kicking in big to the GOP even though he had been giving money to Democratic Midterm Victory Fund  and to folks like Dianne Feinstein at Adam Schiff I didn’t consider it a big deal.  I simply presumed that while he remains a fan of the left, he sees the writing on the wall for the midterms and decided to make sure he had some insurance to keep the subsidies that make all those electric cars possible.

Apparently the base of the Democrats doesn’t see it the same way.

and the twitter mobs are full of hastags denouncing Tesla , Musk and calling for boycotts

Mr. Musk as taken to twitter to deny that he is a “top donor” (as opposed to a non top donor apparently)

but Alas for Mr. Musk  because politics is a religion for the left. It doesn’t matter if he is a “top donor” or just a regular donor. Being a donor to the GOP or any unapproved cause is as the inventor of firefox discovered like being a little bit pregnant

It’s doesn’t matter if you fix the pipes of everyone in Flint, as far as they are concerned you’re now an apostate and the only religion harder on religious apostates than liberals are Islamists.

Now it’s likely Mr. Musk is going to be all right because while a lot of the base will be outraged the pols will still want his $ over the long haul and will be loath to throw that piggy bank away.  However give the state of the left today it’s inevitable  that same base which forced Chuck Schumer into a losing filibuster and shutdown demands that Democrats candidates renounce Musk and his money or even demand those who have taken his now tainted case give it back.

If I was a Democrat operative even as I decried Mr. Musk to appease the base that I can’t win without, I’d be quietly reaching out to him, making it clear that they value his past support, his business model and his various project and any such statements to the contrary are strictly for show and should not be taken as their actual position (and if I was a republican operative I’d do all I can to expose democrats who are doing this).

I think it would be an excellent thing for conservative bloggers around the country to start asking Democrat candidates if they will vow to renounce Mr. Muck’s money based on the bases anger and ask folks like Corey Booker if they will give the money back. The sound bites such questions produce will be a lot of fun for use in the current election cycle and could cement Mr. Musk as a donor to conservatives for decades to come because like Jake in support your local Sheriff, like it or not you’re on our side now.

Cue James Garner and Jack Elam

There are a lot of conservatives simply delighted with the victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the NY 14.

Some because it unseated a longtime and very powerfull Democrat leader.

Hold on to your hats, Democrats. The chairman of the House Democratic Caucus lost his primary in New York’s 14th Congressional District. And to add insult to injury, he lost to an avowed socialist running her first serious political campaign who managed to raise only 10% as much money as Crowley had to spread around.

Some because she is, as the good folks at Victory Girls put it a “Raging Dumpster Fire

Yep, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a dumpster fire. But she’ll win in November, no doubt. The borough in Queens she hopes to represent is deep blue, so there’s little chance of a GOP victory. And it looks like New York’s 14th District just elected themselves a joke.

She’ll be a hoot when she gets to DC. We’ll just sit back and enjoy the show.

And yes, to whatever extent she’s hurting Democrat chances in the House and senate, I’m pleased as well.

But there is a more basic reason to be pleased,at Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s victory, the fact that she accurately represent the Democrat party as it is and thus presents a clear choice to the voters of her district.

They can choose to support an open socialist who wants open boarders, government provided jobs for all, Medicare for all, free college for all, or someone who lives in the real world and understands what the consequences of that kind of nonsense would be.

Now given the makeup of that district their choice is almost going to be the former and that’s OK because voters should get the representation they want and if they want that kind of lunacy they should get it.

Just as important if elected, and it’s likely she will be, she will reflect the authentic voice of the Democrat Party.as it is.

Right now Democrats generally get elected by pretending they are something they are not, basically deceiving voters that they are centrists making claims to support the police, the law, the troops and not having animus to people of faith or the 1st and 2nd amendment rights of their fellow Americans.

You also get the occasional Maxine Waters a powerful longstanding dem pol who is the Yasser Arafat of American Political who tends to say one thing to excite the base and bring in the cash but starts to back off or spin it away once her rants begin to be considered representative of the positions of the Democrat party.

That’s generally not how Bernie bros like Ocasio-Cortez operate, they are open about their beliefs and are not shy about publicly advancing them. This means that instead of American voters being deceived they would have an honest debate over the choice between socialism and Capitalism and be able to choose one or the other rather than being deceived about the intentions of those they vote for.

If the Democrats want socialized medicine, abortion up to the 9th month, confiscation of guns, a weak military and people taxed to death so the government can provide for woman’s studies majors let them run 435 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs and if the American people choose them, so be it.

However they are not honest enough to do such a thing because if the Democrat party and their media and cultural organs portrayed themselves as they are, they might never win an election outside of the deepest blue states again.

In closing let me send this message to Maxine Waters who is now claiming that she’s a target for assassination for her views.

If I can’t get Democrats to run 435 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortezs I’d love them to run 435 Maxine Waters:

If you really want to understand why our friends on the left are going as violently mad as they are you can’t do better than what Larry Schweikart found in the latest 538 poll

Do you see what those numbers say? Larry does.

Particularly these numbers on “hispanics”

(incidentally “Hispanics” is in quotes because it refers to the mythical land of “Hispanica” as referenced in this post about the Massachusetts Senate Special election of a few years ago).

And remember these number are BEFORE Democrats publicly decided segregation at restaurants was a good thing

To me this confirmed what old friend Kurt Schlichter wrote Monday concerning their options:

That leaves them only violence. We’ve already seen it, and you can sense that it’s only a matter of time before the liberals openly embrace it. They have set the conditions for it. They have dehumanized the opposition, that is, us. Their lesser tactics aren’t working. The lies no longer resonate because we Normals are woke – the polls indicate that most Americans greeted the whole kids in cages fraud with a collective shrug. Criminals separated from their kids? Doesn’t that happen every day? It would sure happen to us if we broke the law, since we aren’t the Democrats’ Great Foreign Hope for a future electorate that is pliable and obedient.

Intimidation isn’t working. It makes the libs quiver with joy, but it just makes us mad. Getting your opponent riled up is a poor strategy, especially at the ballot box. Mad people tend to retaliate. November is coming, and we all fully understand that every middle finger selfie, every vicious tweet, every assault on a conservative diner, is an attack on us.

And while a George Will, anxious to be able to enjoy fine dining without incidents from angry leftists, will play along with this stuff, most Trump voters who realize the “new rules” target them where they live will not.

The irony in all of this is if the left had not gone mad and had decided to fight the President on the legislative field where he is the least experienced rather than in the media field where is the strongest they might have made progress against him, but they quickly discovered you could get more clicks, higher rating and raise more money by encouraging the mob so they did.

This isn’t working out too well because just as the right thing is usually the smart thing the wrong thing: Working people into a frenzy for short term profit, is turning out to be the dumb thing.

Attacking the survivor of a political assassination attempt as a “Nazi puke” for daring to suggest that civility and respect are the better option does not win over GOP and independent voters needed to win elections and as the President has indicated suggesting pols you dislike should be visited by mobs might end poorly, particularly if your political opponents are well armed.

But alas for the left they’ve whipped up their own people so badly that when even Nancy Pelosi mildly suggests that chasing people out of restaurants and public spaces she gets pummeled by her own side and God forbid that you suggest it’s a dumb move politically like Axelrod did. Out of the Woke Arms they must go!

In the end somebody is going to end up killed and I suspect that person is not going to be a person of the right but one of the left, but I also suspect they consider that a feature rather than a bug, but that’s tomorrow’s post.

There are a lot of opinions on the IG report this week concerning Comey and company from a lot of people more prominent than me and while I’m feeling a tad lonely and melancholy today with my son and wife at work I’m not inclined to debate the issue on twitter although I will quote the single best advice for those trying to make up their mind about it which came, surprisingly from a rather strident liberal.

This is of course why one should always do when confronted by such things but while you are reading and pondering this report and if the FBI had a hand on the scales there is a totally different consideration that should be going through your head, one that should be the first thing that comes to your mind as you read the FBI report.

If Hillary is elected all this behavior is not only rewarded but normalized in government forever.

This is not a new consideration, it’s something I’ve written about before concerning the IRS scandal

This is , in my opinion, the most important factor in the upcoming election. It’s very clear that this administration is not going to punish anyone for this and I guarantee you that if the next president is Hillary Clinton not only will nobody punished but do you really believe that given the power of the white house behind her a president Hillary Clinton will not do the same?

And it was illustrated by more than just the IRS scandal as noted here:

Carlos Henriquez didn’t pull out of his race at the time of his arrest because he understood that even with the war on woman being the theme of the 2012 election and one of the most prominent female candidates in the country running in his state,  the media, local state & national would ignore it.  He remains in his seat because he understands that even with his conviction for actually assaulting a women the media will never find his story more interesting than Mike Huckabee saying the word: “libido”

The administration appointed a political friend and donor to investigate itself on a critical scandal because they understood  that the national media would not press the issue or report on a story they had ignored for months on end.

The Senator and his office feels themselves free to attempt to pressure his state to change it’s reported numbers because they understood that the media would not press them nor nor keep a close eye on any investigation that might come.

and that’s also why The Governor & his administration felt fee to stack the investigating committee of  a prominent member of his political party because it is their understanding that while the story has broken today it will not go far and will certainly not go national.

That’s why I endorsed Trump a bit before the GOP convention because the danger to the republic in general and to conservatives in particular was astounding.

I think the breaking point is near, I think there are a lot of people in this country who are deciding that the Government is openly hostile to them.  I think that the sight of women and gay men being beaten by leftists because they support the presumptive GOP nominee, having it happen in full sight of police ordered to do nothing AND SEEING THOSE OFFICERS CHOOSING TO LET THEM BE BEATEN means that they can not count on the authorities to obey their oaths of office if they think doing so might cost them their jobs.

Even worse than this is the obvious question it raises: If leftists are willing to resort to violence and boast about it before an election when it might hurt their ability to persuade the people to vote for them, how much more willing will they be to violently suppress their political foes when such behavior is rewarded with electoral victory by the people?

What will that tell a populace that has already been arming itself nonstop for the last 4-6 years?

and why I re-endorsed him at the time of the Bush tape.

Right now a lot of people are forgetting that for good or I’ll the only thing standing between us and the financial, military, security, cultural and constitutional rights disaster that a Hillary Clinton administration would be is Donald Trump.

People are in panic and when the line is breaking someone has to pick up the flag and shout “FORWARD”. And if it costs some me some readers then so be it.

Before the election I suspected that the election of Hillary meant the end of civil liberties for the right and maybe even eventual civil war.  With the IG report this is, in my opinion no longer speculation but something that is now clearly established.

Thank God she lost.

There are a lot of people who still misjudge and underestimate Donald Trump and it started this day three years ago.  It worth revisiting that original speech that got it all started

and the media reaction to it;

To make a long story short the entire MSM’s take on Donald Trump’s speech sounded like the Movie Blazing Saddles when Bart starts singing his version of: “I get a kick out of you.” with the MSM playing Lyle the overseer shouting:

“Hold it What the hell is that shit?”

I remember listening to the speech and thinking it was first rate while everyone I spoke to and know, particularly in media heard something completely different.  I’d like to quote myself in full from my post I put up just as the speech finished

…the MSM didn’t get understand what Trump was doing.

1. They were looking for a standard announcement speech.  Trump didn’t want to give one.  Trump’s base, if he has one, consists of people who normally don’t give a damn about an election.

2. They were looking for wonk stuff that they could take apart.  Trump didn’t do wonk stuff. People don’t understand wonk stuff, don’t want to hear wonk stuff and change the channel when wonk stuff is on TV.

3.  They expected Trump to try to impress them.  Trump didn’t even try.  He knows what the media think of him.  He wanted to impress the people who are impressed by a person who has made it and made it big.

4. They expected a stage managed event.  Trump wasn’t looking to do that.  He wanted to give a speech that didn’t appear stage managed or written by a speech writer.  He wanted a speech that sounded like the guy having a beer at a barbecue with you was talking .

5.  Finally they were expecting a tight event.  Trump didn’t give one.  He understands how television works, he gave a speech specifically designed to force the networks covering him to stick with him much longer than they would have planned to do so.

Bottom line Trump speech had specific goals in mind:

1.  Reach the people who generally don’t watch this kind of speech.

2.  Hit on the themes in the language a low information voter can understand.

3.  Make a speech that the networks covering it didn’t dare leave

4.  Go long enough so people seeing it would tweet out to their friends who aren’t watching Cable News: “You’ve got to turn this on and see this” so folks would switch over from the Price is Right or the View,

5.  Make a speech that would build audience would build and hit the top of the hour so that all the news shows AND Rush Limbaugh would be talking about it at once generating buzz by the buckets.

His goal had nothing to do the reporters or networks covering him.  He wasn’t playing the game by the rules they expected, he made his own rules and made them play along. He accomplished exactly what he wanted to do in the way he wanted to do it.

In other words he punked the MSM and punked them good and just like Bart in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles, he’s laughing at them.

In fairness to the MSM et/all they had no experience of a candidate like Trump and even the Twitter numbers which caught my eye from day one didn’t phase them.

But it’s been THREE YEARS NOW, Trump hasn’t changed his tactics or his style and while some people like Senator Ted Cruz have changed their minds, their perception of President Trump evolving based on the facts on the ground and the record of accomplishment per this CPAC interview:

The media/left and the never Trump still doesn’t get it. They remain in the bubble where they think every time Trump speaks it’s going to doom him.

The left has 4 months to figure this out before the midterms and two years to do so before the election of 2020. Based on what I’ve seen these last three years I don’t think they’ll manage it.

Update:  Fixed an error in tense

The level of acceptance of the positions and/or actions of any group or organization by the left and media is directly proportional to their current or potential value in electing liberal Democrats.

DaTechGuy’s 2nd Law of Media Outrage

There was a lot of surprise on twitter and on the net at the treatment of Bill Clinton on the Today show yesterday.

HMMM: Morning Joe Panel: This ‘Is the End of Bill Clinton’s Life As a Public Figure.’

NBC reporter Craig Melvin asked Clinton if he ever apologized to Lewinsky, which led Clinton to become defensive and talk about how he paid a steep cost for his actions. Clinton and Lewinsky, then a White House intern 27 years his junior, had a series of sexual encounters between 1995 and 1997, culminating in a political scandal that rocked the administration.

“And so what you saw there, I think is the end of Bill Clinton’s life as a public figure in this country,” MSNBC political commentator Steve Schmidt said. “Because of that interview I don’t think he’s campaigning anywhere ever again unless he can clean it up and fix it pretty quickly.”

Anchor Joe Scarborough said if Clinton wants to be on the campaign trail in 2018, he will need to take responsibility for his actions.

In one respect this surprise is not unreasonable particularly given the history of Bill Clinton on Morning Joe as I noted back during the 2012 primary season:

Today there is a big press conference with Herman Cain addressing the now specific accusations against him. By an odd coincidence MSNBC’s Morning Joe had President Bill Clinton Scheduled for the 8:15 tine slot.

They had him on for 30 minutes and they talked economy, trade etc, yet not a person on that set asked him a question about the issue leading the news today, how he would suggest Cain deal with it and what lessons he learned from it.

That really says it all, Morning Joe and MSNBC have Bill Clinton, the single most famous political sexual harasser, a man who is still 15 years later the butt of jokes on the subject. (Even in the latest funny or die clip they play Clinton hitting on Michelle Obama)

Yet not a word, not a question, not a hint.

You see these were the Halicon days before #metoo when Bill Clinton was a money machines for the left, Harvey Weinstein had access to the White House and Matt Lauer was considered a giant of journalism.

And even as late as the election 2016 the MSM took great lengths to make sure that if any suggestion that there was something wrong with Bill Clinton they took great lengths to keep it hidden:

So,  You’ll have absolutely no problem sharing this clip with people far and wide and giving them a hint about the relationship between Jeffery Epstein and Bill Clinton and how the media views it…provided you are someone like me who

already saw the clip

remembered what show it was on

knew what day it was broadcast

And knew what time segment to look for

As for everyone else NBC says to you: Beware of the Leopard!

So given this history any questioning of Clinton on the Lewinsky matter is a bit of shock, at least if you ignore DaTechGuy’s 2nd Law of media outrage:

The level of acceptance of the positions and/or actions of any group or organization by the left and media is directly proportional to their current or potential value in electing liberal Democrats.

As long as Bill Clinton had current or potential value to the electing of Democrats these subject were not discussed in the MSM. This is the surest sign that no matter how much juice Bill Clinton once had, the Democrat/media left has decided that Bill Clinton’s has little or no current and/or potential value in electing liberal Democrats in 2018 and thus the level of acceptance of his previous actions is now correspondingly low.

As Rush Limbaugh noted yesterday I bet Bill Clinton wishes Matt Lauer was still at Today asking the questions.

Thus does NBC go from a safe haven to a battle field for Mr. Clinton because he doesn’t have the pull of Samantha Bee when it comes to electing Democrats.

How have the mighty fallen!
