Once we confirmed that Stacy’s scheduled TV appearance in Leominster was kaput he informed me that the college republicans that he had been in contact with wanted to have him visit the college for 5:30 or so.Stacy and I headed toward cambridge.

Rather than take the long drive into Harvard Square as my dad used did to take me Million Year Picnic back when I was thirteen in the days when Harvard Square was the western most stop on the Boston Subway  We headed to Alewife station parked on the the 4th floor grabbed our red line tickets and grabbed a seat on the subway heading to Harvard Station and the square and college that it led to.

When we emerged into the daylight and crossed over to the gate, we found ourselves smack in the middle of a protest

There was a circle of several hundred people who surrounded a few folks taking turns with a bullhorn denouncing dropping DACA. We had gotten there early for our meeting but late for the start of the protest so we checked out the signs and the crowd and campus police that looked on with the same half amused resignation as people at the most exclusive school in the world talked about oppression.

We watched for a while, saw the various signs (invariably anti trump) then left for our meeting location (missing the human chain and subsequent arrests).

We found the hall where we were supposed to meet and happily stumbled on a presentation by professor Robert George. of Princeton.

As Stacy went out to find the fellow we were looking for I sat in on his presentation. His talk concerning culture and the humanities was a great pleasure and his observation that in the end those Harvard Students in the room were not just the top 1% but the top .0001% of all time in human history was a fact that seems to be lost when students in higher education find themselves triggered.

At this point Stacy had met our guide President of the Harvard College Republicans Kent Haeffner

As one might guess Kent was an impressive young fellow and while he spoke of some of the oddities of the liberal atmosphere as illustrated by this Woman Studies syllabus as read by Stacy McCain

He vigorously defended Harvard as an institution both in terms of the educational environment but for it’s ability to inspire symbolized by one particular gate with the inscription as you come in “Enter to grow in wisdom” and as you pass out “Depart to serve better your country and your kind.”

after a rather pleasant lunch (mentioned by Stacy here) we returned to the quad for a long interview

The camera failed during the last question so Stacy repeated it

It turned out he had been on campus during the Black Mass business so I also interviewed him on the subject

He was also kind enough to show me the Chinese restaurant where in the end the black mass was held (I was liberal with the Holy water on the building area) and then showed me to St. Paul’s the catholic chapel where the Eucharist Procession and adoration had taken place.

By now his time was getting short so we escorted us back to the Mexican Restaurant where we had lunched so we could wait for the young lady who we would speak to next, a passer by was kind enough to take a shot for us.

A few minutes later we were joined by Emily Hall who was both an officer of the college republicans but a member of the Network of Enlightened Women. Kent left us in her capable hands.

Capable frankly is too weak an adjective for this young lady. She spoke of being a pro-life Catholic woman on campus and how, like Kent she had grown stronger in the crucible of education and pushback while demonstrating very publicly that the woman of Harvard University were not monolithic in their beliefs. She also sat for and interview with Stacy

And myself.

at this point is was getting pretty late so Stacy and I escorted her back toward her dorm talking more about the environment and her plans for the future on the way.

As we headed back to the car and drove home Stacy spoke to his wife concerning his impressions of Harvard and the fine young people we had met it was evident that whatever idiocy might take place on campus either via protest or within the Woman’s Studies department it was clear that he had been provided with ample proof that Harvard was more than capable of allowing a well grounded conservative with the courage of their convictions and a good work ethic to grow into an even stronger conservative ready to in the words of the gate serve better their country and their kind. and by the end of the day it was evident that the Kansas City Chiefs had not been the only folks to change a narrative in Massachusetts that day. These two tweets said it all.

If you told me that it was even slightly possible for Robert Stacy McCain to make that statement aloud one week ago I, like Wombat would not have believed it.

A gallery of photos follows my tip jar pitch:

Stacy McCain Revere MA Sept 6th 2017
Revere Ma 12:36 PM

Despite downpours and lightning and the disapproval of the Daily Caller Mirror blog Robert Stacy McCain strode out of the Southwest Airlines arrival terminal just before Noon on Wednesday bags in tow and fedora proudly on his head to begin the first of seven days in Massachusetts.

Stacy being Stacy we immediately headed for the nearest McDonalds Ray Kroc memorial media center so he could unpack his laptop check his email and get a quick post up for the faithful waiting to see what he had in store for them and get a post up for the faithful folk who support shoe leather reporting so they can get the facts as they are vs as they’re spun.

He had already provided a sneak peek this morning of what to expect to those who are devotees of Gonzo journalism:

Packing up the car and driving seems to me the much more relaxing way to travel, because if you get behind schedule you just drive faster, and I enjoy driving fast. Our nation’s law enforcement establishment tends to take a different view of the matter, and the joy of doing 90 mph is tempered by the need to avoid detection. But I digress . . .

Harvard University is all upset about President Trump’s threat to end DACA, because there are about 65 illegal aliens at Harvard — the illegal elite, as it were. Harvard is America’s leading anti-American university. They love foreigners and hate anybody who was actually born here, unless maybe you’re gay or something. Yet it seems Harvard has accidentally admitted a few Republican students, and I got an email from one of them Tuesday night, offering to guide me across campus.

A greater clue to what is in store was in his carry on bag which I had expected to be stuffed with copies of his book but were instead filled with books of a different sort:

Hidden within was A veritable cornucopia of Feminist thought, written by feminist writers and assigned by Feminist professors in woman’s studies programs accross the nation. Books that young college student paying upwards of $60,000 a year for an education were taught from and in some cases required to buy.

This willingness to read what feminist authors actually write and what feminist professors actually teach, and the courage to quote those words in print as they are rather than how professional feminists choose to portray them had a lot to do with his banning from Twitter because if there is one thing that a totalitarian movement can’t abide is the unvarnished truth offered to counter propaganda.

This knowledge of what Feminism actually says in it’s own words is the driving force behind the “Sex Trouble” project and Stacy’s presentation of what he has discovered along these lines will be the topic of his presentation Sept 9th in Leominster Massachusetts at the event Buffet Books and Blather at the Tang Dynasty Restaurant 638 North Main Street Rte 12 Leominster (exit 31 B off of Route 2) which will be the highlight of his Massachusetts Trip.

For those of you who ant to learn about feminism as it is rather than as it’s portrayed and save $5 on the at the door price, Prebuy tickets are still available here It’s a great chance to get a signed copy of Stacy’s book, not to mention enjoying an excellent buffet and our round table discussion of the issues of the week featuring Stacy, the good folks from Granite Grok and the Worcester Tea Party, Dianne Ploss late of the 2016 Trump campaign and now head of of Act for America Boston and my humble self.

It promises to be a good time for all and given Stacy’s proclivity to seek out stories, likely the best chance for the faithful fan of Gonzo Shoe Leather Journalism and Robert Stacy McCain in particular catch him for at least a little while as he makes the rounds.

I’ll tell you one thing, it’s certainly not going to be a boring week.

Mary Cooper: When your mom gets back, I’m gonna need to apologize for the way I spoke to her.
Penny: Well, come on, she did kinda start it.
Mary Cooper: Doesn’t matter. A good Christian would have turned the other cheek. On the other hand, a good Texan would have shot her, so I’ll just split the difference.

The Big Bang Theory: The Maternal Combustion 2015

On Saturday my reading of this Daily Caller piece concerning Stacy McCain’s visit this week to New England and his appearance at Tang Dynasty this coming Saturday. Two different instincts took hold beside me.

The first was gratitude for the publicity of a nationally known site writing about it. It increases the exposure of the event and the potential for ticket sales (buy yours here) Not only is this critical for me as the person financing this event and on the hook if it fails to break even, but the success or failure of this event will be the determining factor if this is one off event featuring a friend of mine at a restaurant I like or the first of a series bringing conservative reporters and authors to the area to both educate and entertain outnumbered conservatives and moderate in a deep blue state.

The second was my Sicilian instinct that kicks in when someone disses a friend of mine like this:

The Mirror also sought comment from Washington journalists who are familiar with his work.

“I think the guy is bad news,” said a Washington journalist. “Seems like a parody of the racist, sexist Neanderthal that the opponents want to portray all Republicans as being.”

“He’s gross,” said a female Washington writer when asked for comment. “You can disagree with feminism without being derisive about women.”

It would see these comments made without attribution came from simply looking at a press release and further calumny Stacy did a fine job of answering them himself:

Whether some anonymous writer thinks of me as a Neanderthal is of no consequence, but I fully agree with your second source: Disagreeing with feminism doesn’t mean being “derisive about women,” and I am not.

This is a point I made myself in reply to one of your email questions. You asked how I viewed women “generally,” and in my answer I said, “There obviously is no correct answer to such a question, because no one views women ‘generally.’ Rather, every intelligent person views people as individuals, and we tend to be offended by generalizations about groups.” Elsewhere in my reply, I remarked on the unfortunate tendency to think that any man who criticizes feminism is somehow “anti-woman.” This is some like saying a critic of Marxism is “anti-worker,” and is self-evidently false. Radical ideologues who insist that all opponents of their identity-politics movement are motivated by bad faith (mala fides) are engaged in a dishonest rhetorical game, and become offended when their tactics are exposed. During the Cold War, Communists always engaged in character assassination against their enemies, because Communism was (and still is) indefensible on its merits.

The Author Ms. Betsy Rothstein, who was the subject of an odd but interesting profile at the New Republic here, also suggested some nefarious attitudes to Mr. McCain that I occasionally see online.  Stacy answered these too:

Elsewhere in your article, you seem interested in reviving the ancient fable that I am some kind of “white supremacist,” which falls into the category of fake news, as President Trump might say. As I told the pathetic bungler Max Blumenthal a dozen years ago, I’m too lazy to be evil. You might also want to consult my November 2009 blog post, “How to Reply to the Southern Poverty Law Center (If You Must).”

She didn’t seem to bother with the method I used to find out about this stuff when Charles Johnson was spewing it way back in 2009 namely actually talking to him and asking direct questions.  As I said waxed poetically years ago

Stacy hath Supported Israel in Gaza,
Vs Hamas and with humor did he defend Israel.
Did this in Stacy seem a Supremacist?
He hath associated with Steven Green, and Moe Lane, hath prayed with Baldilocks and befriended Lesbians and Gays.
Racism should be made of sterner stuff.

furthermore I didn’t care for this remark

This obviously trashy mansigning is sure to create waves with the ladies.

which draws a conclusion without evidence, nor the tone when listing the price of the event which has to cover:

1. A guaranteed number of book sales
2. A guaranteed number of buffet attendees
3. The cost of Stacy’s Round Trip flight

And while I am very grateful for the manpower and promotion from the good folks of the Worcester Tea Party at Granite Grok as I said earlier, if this event fails those costs not covered by ticket sales will be on me.

Finally she could have always asked me, as the person putting on this event about this stuff and provided her with enough links on Stacy Twitter suspension to show who the villain was (hint it’s not Stacy McCain).

So now having vented satisfying my Sicilian side let me allow my Christian instinct to offer thanks one more time to Ms. Rothstein as she was kind enough to give me a timely topic for my Monday Lead post.
