When I saw this story at Yid With Lid

If colleges are indeed training the nation’s future leaders, America is doomed. On Sunday, the Daily Caller reported that Rohini Sethi, a student government leader at the University of Houston, was suspended and ordered to diversity training for engaging in the heinous act of free speech. In this case, the offensive speech was a Facebook post that read, “Forget #BlackLivesMatter; more like AllLivesMatter.”

…concerning the University of Houston the first thing that came to my mind was this.

I can’t believe in an age when there are so many lawyers out of work that a University is willing to be this stupid.

Granted Universities have become rather insular in their thought to the point where actually educating people on thing that matter has become secondary but I suspect this is going to provide an education to those who attempted to put on this sanction.

Because this type of thing no longer takes place in a vacuum and because of this, the words of a political leader who I suspect is popular with the left, namely “GET IN THEIR FACES AND PUNCH BACK TWICE AS HARD:” will come into play here.

First we have the story of the persecution of SGA Vice President Rohini Sethi on blogs and conservative sites and college sites from the Daily caller, the college fix, campus reform, college insurrection and campus reform and of course Breitbart News

This means that right about now tens of thousands of conservatives on social media are discovering this story, tweeting about this story and getting outraged over it, which will cause Rohini Sethi who meekly submitted, likely thinking that nobody was with her to realize she is not alone.

Of course that means that among those upset will be Police Unions around the nation will also be discovering this who will pass this along to their members.

Even better this is an issue ready made conservatives both in Texas and for the Donald Trump campaign, all he has to do is send out a single tweet and literally tens of millions will be hounding the University of Texas

And as the Student Government had to pass an “ex post facto” rule to allow her to be sanctioned and that such sanctions involve money this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Which likely means that groups like FIRE will get involved and they tend to get results to wit:

Adams State University will settle a federal lawsuit brought by a former ASU professor who says the school violated his free speech and due process rights when it banned him from campus over blog posts criticizing the university’s pay practices.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado announced in a press release yesterday that ASU agreed to rescind the “No Trespass Order” it enacted against Danny Ledonne and will pay $100,000 to settle the lawsuit the ACLU of Colorado brought on Ledonne’s behalf in February.

Ledonne was banned from campus in October 2015, two days after he began blogging critically about ASU administrators on his Watching Adams blog. Ledonne taught in the Mass Communication department and did media production work for ASU between 2011 and 2015. After ASU didn’t renew his contract in the spring of that year, he launched Watching Adams.

Now it’s very possible that despite all this potential Rohini Sethi might decide to continue to meekly submit in the hope it all goes away.

But I submit and suggest that it’s very likely that she might change her mind and fight and if she does she’ll discover that she has a juggernaut of opinion and law behind her and in the end the only power the University of Houston has is the hope of keeping her intimidated.

Personally If I ran the University of Houston I’d quietly reverse myself now before the storm comes and they get an education.

So when they had assembled, Pilate said to them,

“Which one do you want me to release to you, (Jesus) Barabbas, or Jesus called Messiah?”

For he knew that it was out of envy that they had handed him over.  While he was still seated on the bench, his wife sent him a message, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man. I suffered much in a dream today because of him.”  The chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas but to destroy Jesus.

The governor said to them in reply, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” They answered, “Barabbas!”  Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus called Messiah?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!”

Matthew 27:17-22

If there is one thing that Stacy McCain knows it’s crazy and when looking at the Baton Rouge shooter that’s what he sees.

Besides which, I am a well-known expert in craziness. I’ve been studying kooks for years, and when I say somebody’s crazy? Trust me.

Gavin Eugene Long was deranged, daft, demented, cracked, zany, wacko, bonkers, off his rocker and a few fries short of a Happy Meal:

Now as he points out “crazy” and “racist” are no more mutually exclusive than “sane” and “racist” nor does a his craziness make those who encouraged or affirmed his racist opinions as he put it:

This kind of kook cult conspiracy stuff is always floating around out there. You’ve got white people who are into weird pagan sex cults, feminists who are into astrology, tarot, “goddess spirituality,” et cetera.

Was it entirely coincidental that a crazy kook cultist like Gavin Long was inspired to drive to Louisiana and shoot cops? No, because the “Black Lives Matter” movement appeals to the same kind of Afrocentric racial insanity that led Gavin long to rename himself “Cosmo Setepenra.”

This is the problem with media coverage that deliberately feeds into racial paranoia in the black community,

Now when it comes down to it, everybody has their own issues and if this guy had just remained a crazy black nationalist racist with a chip on his shoulder that would be fine, it would be on him and several police would still be alive today.

Instead radical groups of the left, with a big assist from both the Media and the White House decided to play into that crazy for their own political ends.

That’s why to Twitter, a guy like Robert Stacy McCain who owns more books written by radical feminists on feminism than most Woman’s studies majors and has read more of them than professors of woman’s studies professors can be banned from Twitter for quoting those feminists and others public statements while a guy like Gavin Eugene Long was considered just fine, until he started gunning down cops

The Jewish elders pushed the crowd to call for Barabbas for political reasons, the twitter Safety crowd called for Gavin Eugene Long in the same way because that choice affirmed their prejudices and didn’t dump him until it was inconvenient.

Unexpectedly

Exit question:  How many other Gavin Eugene Longs are now on twitter cheering the murder of police while Stacy McCain remains banned?  Anyone Bueller?  BUELLER?

I have made the argument many times that I don’t believe in “Hate Crimes”.

It’s a question of punishing thought rather than action, the whole idea of punishing crime is to punish what people do to harm society.  If you deck me, If you rob me, if you kill me, you deserve to face punishment but if you don’t like me or think I’m an ass that’s nobody’s business but yours.

That being said if you are going to have such laws this makes perfect sense:

Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado has introduced legislation that would make the targeted killing of a police officer a federal hate crime.

Similar legislation has been introduced on the state level in the Louisiana and Maryland legislatures.

The reactions of the foes to this is…interesting

Rashad Turner, the leader of the Black Lives Matter chapter in St. Paul, Minn., told the Star Tribune in October 2015 that “law enforcement wanted to make themselves out to be the victims” when the Red Wing, Minn., City Council called for an expansion of the federal hate crimes law to include killing police.

Maybe it’s just be but I’d say that a person, any person who is murdered or targeted for murder is by definition a victim.

You would think adding five or ten years to a 40 to life murder sentence would not be worth the effort for the police or create a fuss from black lives matter

But we’ve reached a point in our society where the title “victim” is such a valuable commodity that it’s guarded jealously, and once it’s a matter of law that the value of the life of those who enforce law is equal to those who flaunt it then one can’t celebrate or excuse their murder as an act of virtue.

Eventually I suppose we’ll get to the point where every possible individual permutation of mankind will have the tag “lives matter” put after them and then we can all be victims together.

Maybe it’s just me but I think we would be much better off with the old culture of life that once existed.

Yesterday I noted the irony of the black lives matter crowd using the #alllionsmatter hashtag for their purposes with this quote from Althouse emphasis mine

“Why are the Americans more concerned than us?” said Joseph Mabuwa, a 33-year-old father-of-two cleaning his car in the center of the capital. “We never hear them speak out when villagers are killed by lions and elephants in Hwange.”

Looking closer at the base piece Ann linked to reminded me of something Evan Sayet said during his appearance in Boston that stuck with me is that in the past being stupid could cost you your life, but America has become o rich that people can be stupid without danger.

That came to mind when I saw this

“What lion?” acting information minister Prisca Mupfumira asked in response to a request for comment about Cecil, who was at that moment topping global news bulletins and generating reams of abuse for his killer on websites in the United States and Europe

meanwhile in America…

In contrast, the previous evening 200 people stood in protest outside the suburban Minneapolis dental practice of 55-year-old Walter Palmer, calling for him to be extradited to Zimbabwe to face charges of taking part in an illegal hunt.

Perhaps there is a reason why the people in Zimbabwe are less interested in the story

For most people in the southern African nation, where unemployment tops 80 percent and the economy continues to feel the after-effects of billion percent hyperinflation a decade ago, the uproar had all the hallmarks of a ‘First World Problem’.

In other words, American are rich enough that they can spend days crying of a dead lion that they imagine as a Disney Character, but  one’s perspective is different if one lives  in a country where being killed by wild animals is not uncommon,

Telling isn’t it?

Twitchy reported that fans of the Black Lives matter movement decided to poke fun at the “all lives matter” resonse using he death of Cecil the Lion:

This week, though, in the wake of the outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion, a number of activists have decided to swap #BlackLivesMatter for #AllLionsMatter. Honestly, #BlackLivesMatter plus a sense of humor is a pretty potent combination.

However there is an incredible irony that is revealed in this post at Althouse emphasis mine

“Why are the Americans more concerned than us?” said Joseph Mabuwa, a 33-year-old father-of-two cleaning his car in the center of the capital. “We never hear them speak out when villagers are killed by lions and elephants in Hwange.”

Apparently the black population of Zimbabwe have noticed that American activists are very selective about which black lives matter.  Particularly when compared to a lions.

Update:  Apparently it all comes down if you’re eating them:

Radio Equalizer’s Brian Maloney wonders where the outrage over Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe’s treatment of endangered animals?

While a social media mob has Dr Walter Palmer fearing for his life, it was only five months ago that Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe was served a lavish feast that included lion meat and a mass slaughter of baby elephants and other endangered animals.

It was also described as a “lion trophy” and its age described as “old”, according to state and independent press reports.

Update 2:  what they said
