Love is in the air.

Mass murderer Nikolas Cruz is getting stacks of fan mail and love letters sent to the Broward County jail, along with hundreds of dollars in contributions to his commissary account.

Teenage girls, women and even older men are writing to the Parkland school shooter and sending photographs — some suggestive — tucked inside cute greeting cards and attached to notebook paper with offers of friendship and encouragement. Groupies also are joining Facebook communities to talk about how to help the killer.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel obtained copies of some of the letters showing that Cruz, who had few friends in the outside world, is now being showered with attention. (…)

A teenager wrote on March 15: “I’m 18-years-old. I’m a senior in high school. When I saw your picture on the television, something attracted me to you.” (…)

A woman from Chicago enclosed nine suggestive photos, including a shot of cleavage, another in a skimpy bikini eating a Popsicle and a tight shot of her backside as she bent over. Another girl sent photos with Hello Kitty Snapchat filters. (…)

This sort of thing is certainly not unprecedented. Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and, more recently, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – one of the perpetrators of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing – are examples of mass murders/serial killers who attracted throngs of women.

It shouldn’t even be surprising. The Devil has tons of fans; why wouldn’t his servants also attract those who find excitement in evil?

Moving away from these extremes, so-called normal women find “bad boys” attractive, too. Such men may not be killers or law-breakers of any kind, but they are perceived as rule-breakers and that edginess is exciting – for a while. Men are also attracted by “crazy women.” (My streak of deviousness tells me many such women are some of the sanest among us.)

This sort of attraction is symbolic of a certain absence within an individual; a skewed sense of that which is good, faithful and true. For the warped mind, such things are boring.

Many of us are a little or a lot warped in this way. The key to defeating this kind of thinking is, of course, sticking close to the God of the Bible. Through this, we can get a clear view of the faults in ourselves and we can ask God to help us remove these faults.

I understand this for a good reason. I’ve had to give over to God my own warped view of what a loving man-woman relationship should be. I was never into Bad Boys, but there were other issues.  Sometimes, it necessary to have a seat and stay sitting down for an extended period. So it is that I have remained single for some time.

And that’s the key: recognize the problem, remove oneself from it, and ask the Professional Fixer of Things for help.

As for the wannabe lovers of serial killers, however, the fist step — recognition — can’t happen when one’s eyes are closed.

The Boston Bomber has given his statement and the news has been big enough news to get the Confederate Flag off of CNN for a little while.

The right of a person to speak before sentencing is an old one and his statements will be parsed for a long time but some quick thoughts.

I can’t judge if his statement was self-serving in terms of hoping to avoid execution or not.

Different people will react different ways to it, I’m not going to question any of the reactions to it, particularly by the families.

The three survivors had different things and spins on what they had to say. All are legit.

I notice that one of the survivors mentioned that she has been taken out of her bubble of safety. When she did I couldn’t help but think of what Evan Sayet had said in Boston concerning how we’ve become so rich and so safe that we have been able to avoid and ignore dangerous realities.

It was interesting to note the thing about his voice, I’ve never heard it either.

It would be nice if more people were removed from the bubble without a terror attack.

A lot is going to be made of him invoking Allah, as he’s a Muslim I can’t see how that would surprise me. Someone more familiar with cultural Islam will have to judge if there is a significance in the way he did so.

Carmen Ortiz the US Attorney noted the religious tone of his speech and further noted he didn’t renounce terrorism. At the same she time trying to spin Islam as a religion of peace. I found that statement much more insulting and much less credible than Tsarnaev speech.

Since there is no question about if he did these acts I’m curious as to what the basis of the appeal will be.

I think it’s much more dangerous keeping him alive, given the latest gov announcement concerning ransom as long as he is alive there is a chance terror groups will try to trade American hostages for his freedom.

That being said as a Christian I am required to both love and pray for him as I would for any enemy and if he was to be converted and baptised he would have the same access to Christ’s forgiveness as any other person.

We have been assured by the left that Islam has little to do with the Bombing in Boston, that anyone who thinks there is something to fear in radical Islam is “islamophobic”

Well given this e-mail (Via Jihadwatch & Breitbart) to members of the Mosque in Boston from the Islamic Society of Boston, does that make them “FBIphobic”?

We have been informed that the FBI may be starting to question some of the community members about the two suspects. Insha’Allah we want to help as much as we can, but of course not put ourselves at risk either.

“Put ourselves at risk?”

This email prompts two questions.

The first would be to the gentleman who wrote this e-mail. I would like to ask Jazak Allah Khair of the Islamic Society of Boston when he says he doesn’t want to “put ourselves at risk” what does he mean? Put ourselves at risk of WHAT?

The second question is for the MSM. If Christine Morabito of the Greater Boston had sent such an e-mail to local tea parties across the state if the FBI was investigating them, would there be any other story in the MSM? Would there not be headlines? Would we not see pundit after pundit and editorial after editorial saying there is something to hide?

I think these are very good questions, I’d love some very good answers.

Many years ago Ft. Devens was one of the victims of downsizing of the Military.

shots devens 010

Not quite closed the Ft. was reduced in size and a vast amount of its grounds converted to a business zone where tax incentives drew business to the location from Johnson Matthey to the failed Evergreen Solar

shots devens 009

But today locals who might not be aware that any part of the fort was
still active got a lesson as Boston Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was transferred from Beth Israel Hospital to the Devens Federal medical center and prison.

shots devens 013

The fort and area around it, while active, was not a destination of choice for local media but today Satellite dishes ruled the landscape as local and national media outlets prepare to get the first pictures of the facility where the Marathon Bomber will be housed at least for now.

shots devens 016

Questions remain: Will this be a temporary stop as he recovers from his injuries? Will any of the facilities on the base that were once
considered a potential viewing location for 9/11 families for trials of defendants be utilized? How much of an additional security presence will be on location now that the most infamous criminal in the nation is now on the grounds?

shots devens 018

Police on the scene were not away of any kind of press conference the
media on the move, at least not here, but local citizens expressed
surprise at the relocation of the prisoner one commenting unfavorably on the security at the location.

shots devens 014

If there are any concerns over the relocation I suspect security is not among them. The eyes of the entire nation are going to be on this
facility for the foreseeable future and I suspect more cameras will be on that building then Gweneth Paltrow in her new see through dress.

…expect updates
