As you should know by now every year, even back when we were at the Windam (other than when they were stolen at the airport) I bring Cannoli from Massachusetts to give out at CPAC. It’s become a tradition as attested by this video from CPAC 2012 when we were in DC proper.

A few years ago Scottie Neil Hughes shot a video concerning said cannoli extolling their virtue, but last year she didn’t get one and ended up shooting a video calling out both me and Kellyanne Conway of the Whitehouse for getting a Cannoli when she didn’t. Even an offer of a loan of a DaTechGuy fedora was not a substitute so we were determined to make sure Scottie got her cannoli and made it a point to bring an extra full sized cannoli in addition to the 40 mini cannoli (yes we bring the small ones) and left it in the fridge in the room until we spotted Scottie.

Meanwhile the cannoli were, as always well received as per this video from the producer at Chosen Generation

By Friday the last cannoli was gone and all that was left was to wait for Scottie to present her with the last one. Unfortunately Saturday afternoon Scottie informed us that other commitments prevented her from coming this year which meant we had an extra cannoli, who to give it to?

Well the solution was right before me in the form of Vito from the Vito and Vito show (interview to be uploaded) who has appearing as a guest on the inaugural broadcast of “The Other Podcast” hosted by Stacy McCain and William Hoge of Hogewash which was being done in my room. Who better to taste test a cannoli than a Sicilian from Brooklyn?

I’ll admit that Vito doesn’t have the same video effect as Scottie but if a cannoli meets the standard of a Sicilian from Brooklyn you know it’s worthwhile.

So the next time you see DaTechGuy offering Cannoli at an event be aware that the Cannoli offered by DaTechGuyblog are Sicilian from Brooklyn approved.

Finally might I suggest my book Hail Mary the Perfect Protestant (and Catholic) Prayer makes an excellent Gift.

I had been giving out Cannoli right along at CPAC 2017 and haven’t not seen Scottie Neil Hughes gave out the last Cannoli on Thursday, and then within 4 minutes ran into her.

Let’s hope Kellyanne’s Conway getting Cannoli when she didn’t isn’t the start of a Major rift.

Incidentally I later offered her a DaTechguy fedora to make up for it as surety for Cannoli next Trip but she said DaTechGuy’s word to do the right thing is enough for her.

If Samantha Bee and TBS realized that it’s might have saved them a minor embarrassment.

I had hoped to try to speak to Kellyanne Conway after her Hannity appearance concerning something with WQPH 89.3 FM but I had waited in the press scrum for a while when I decided I was wasting my time and continued with my interviews. At this time I came across Steve and Shen.

There were not fitting in the frame well so I decided to flip the camera and film then at a 90 degree angle and edit the video later.

At this point I was starting to run out of gas and decided it was perhaps time to sit a bit, I headed toward the entrance of the hotel and saw old friend Ed Morrissey of Hotair sitting there and Ed being Ed consented to an interview.

Ironically as the interview went on Kellyanne Conway walked by with a crew, I continued my interview but as soon as it was over I was off after her. I figured the odds were against catching up but decided it was worth a shot.

I headed back toward the press registration area and lo and behold there she was taking question from press. I headed down the escalator and got a shot.

Kellyanne and the press

As she finished and started heading up I was a few steps behind her, at this point I introduced myself as someone who works with WQPH and mentioned their scheduled pro-life events the weekend of Divine Mercy Sunday asking if the administration would have an interest in sending a representative.

Her assistant took my card, and she said she would need the information sent so I presume I will be hearing from them at this point she turned toward the speakers room and I offered her Cannoli, to my surprise she accepted and took one as she vanished through the door. (It turns out that would be significant the next day but that’s a much later post).

You might wonder why I didn’t try to go for a press question but the WQPH need was the priority and as she was speaking the next day I figured I’d have another shot but the fact that Kellyanne Conway had one of the 40 Cannoli I brought was an amusing fact that I’d be able to talk about for a while.

Too bad I didn’t get a chance to find out if she liked it.

I really didn’t record any humorous videos at CPAC 2014 that would be considered April foolish. The closest thing I shot to it was this follow up interview with Scottie Hughes after she tried Dutch Kitchen Cannoli the OFFICIAL cannoli of DaTechGuy on DaRadio.

Let the record show that her opinion of Dutch Kitchen cannolis is shared by Kurt Schlichter Katie & Michael, Luke from Ground Floor video Harriet Baldwin and Michael Isenberg.

UPDATE:  Now Elizabeth Scalia, She knows how to do April Fools day:

As all bloggers attending CPAC know if I fly to cover a story I bring Cannoli

Assuming that I don’t have the same trouble at the airport one year where they mysteriously disappeared once again there will be Cannoli for my fellow bloggers at CPAC (on a first come first served basis of course)

But for the very first time there is an OFFICIAL Cannoli supplier to DaTechGuy on DaRadio:

Dutch Kitchen Bakery in Fitchburg

Where seven days a week they are baking the best of bread, pastry and more for you.

Yesterday I stopped down and Ruth told me about the bakers who get there 5:30 AM seven days a week to make best of baked goods for everyone.

Remember the Cannoli ar first come first served so when you see me grab some.

And of course when in North Central Mass make sure you visit Dutch Kitchen Bakery in Fitchburg ma.

Cannoli, business card and a book in happier times in Boston before takeoff
Landed in Washington tonight without incident but as I met my friend at the metro to head off for my first overnight in Burke to my horror I found that the Box of Cannoli that came with me all the way from Boston was missing!

I scanned the area, no luck, I checked at the police stop, no luck, I checked with TSA since it was an unmarked box nothing, although one TSA agent’s eyes lit up when I said the missing box contained fresh Cannoli (that’s what you would call a bad sign).

I had asked some baggage handlers if they wished to be interviewed, they declined, but they remembered me and said I had the box when I left their area. It’s possible that I put it down when I was giving a gentleman change for a two and someone grabbed it thinking it was some kind of valuable gift.

In the end it is a straight loss for me and my own fault. There is an outside chance that either Delta or the Police will give me an holler but I’m assuming that some officer, some thief or some average person is now enjoying a box full of the best cannoli that Dutch Kitchen can provide.

Yet I have no business complaining, on the way to the house we gassed up and at the station two police cars had pulled aside a young man and two of his friends. He had been stopped for a taillight but was driving with a suspended license so he had to wait while the police arranged to tow the vehicle. Compared to him I”m doing much better.

If losing that box of cannoli is the worst thing that happens to me in Washington then I’m doing fine, but I do apologize to my blogger buddies that I am not able to provided the cannolli. I feel guilty particularly since I’m sipping 18 year old Chivas Regal with a good friend as I type. I’ll wager the person who is eating that cannoli tonight might be jealous, at least a little bit.

…and I’ve packed 3 fedoras in a hatbox along with the one I’ll be wearing. My only problem is going to be carry on cannoli. Can I carry on Cannoli? what are the restrictions upon same? Will I be able to find the promised Cannoli in Washington if I don’t take it with me? I’ve spotted Vaccaro’s Italian Bakery online right near Reagan airport but they are getting $53 bucks for 6 Cannoli. That will be the day when I pay $9 for a Cannoli.

I certainly can’t carry Veal, (although maybe some sausage from Romano’s) I’m going to have to think about this.

Anyway the mailing list is pretty long for CPAC, this is going to be very interesting.
