By John Ruberry

Sometimes I watch television programs so you don’t have to. Such was the case this morning as I endured ABC’s This Week, which was slightly more tolerable than usual because the regular host, George Stephanopolous was off and Jonathan Karl was in charge.

Of course the show was dominated by the circus surrounding the drawn-out confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh, who was sworn in last night as the newest US Supreme Court Associate Justice.

“I talked to a woman from UltraViolent who was paid,” Vice News’ Washington bureau chief Shawna Thomas told Karl on the program “she helped steer people in the right ways to be able to confront senators.”

Karl interjected, “So there were paid,” but then Thomas jumped back in, “There were people that were paid by organizations like UltraViolet to try to harness that energy in a way that would make the viral moments that we ended up seeing.”

UltraViolet, which I haven’t heard of until this morning, is left-wing female advocacy group.

Well one of those “viral moments” was the screaming attack on Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ)  in a Capitol elevator. This is not, to paraphrase a favored chant by leftist protesters, how democracy is supposed to look like.

Another moment was the regular stream of shrieking interruptions during the Senate Justice Committee hearings for Kavanaugh.

Another viral moment were the mobs that swarmed the Capitol building over the last few days.

“The very rude elevator screamers are paid professionals only looking to make Senators look bad,” President Donald Trump remarked on Twitter on Friday. “Don’t fall for it! Also, look at all of the professionally made identical signs. Paid for by Soros and others. These are not signs made in the basement from love!”

Now notice that Thomas didn’t say that the protesters were paid, as Trump claims. Perhaps they were, but let’s look back at her comment about the woman from UltraViolet who “helped steer people in the right ways to be able to confront senators.” Hmmm. That makes these protests much less spontaneous. Think astroturf, not grass roots.

Yesterday there was a Cancel Kavanuagh march in Washington that of course achieved nothing other than letting a bunch of leftists to blow off steam, assuming they had any steam left. Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Women’s March National, and CPD Action, an advocacy group connected to the Center for Popular Democracy, were behind that anger fest. The people running these organizations, and their lieutenants, are almost certainly paid.

Shame! Shame! Shame! was active in the effort to prevent Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Now that is rich. MoveOn was formed, to well, “move on” from the investigation of Bill Clinton’s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. When is the left going to have its defiant #MeToo moment with the Clintons? They’ve certainly had that moment with Kavanaugh in regards to the allegations made by Christine Blasey Ford. Oh wait, I forgot, Kavanaugh is a Republican justice nominated by a Republican president. Silly me.

The anti-Kavanaugh protests are just the latest street theater performance of a play that goes back to the 1960s, as are the arrests. And once again I have to ask, what happens to those shrill screechers–and I’m just citing one series of instances–who were arrested for disrupting the Kavanaugh hearings at the US Capitol. Will they be prosecuted? Or will a sympathetic prosecutor quietly drop the charges against them so they can scream another day? Are we still a nation of laws?

And while the rank-and-file protesters may not have been directly paid, I have some more questions. Who designs and purchases the matching T-shirts many of them wear? Who pays for the travel expenses for the rabble rousers? Who writes the checks for those professionally printed signs and posters?

There is money, to be sure, perhaps big money, behind these confrontations and rallies.

One of the most interesting things about the collapse of the left’s case against Brett Kavanaugh is how the media left’s message has gone from

Brett Kavanaugh was a serial rapist/molester in high school/college!

Brett Kavanaugh was a serial drunk in high school/college!

Brett Kavanaugh threw ice at somebody once at College!

Now one might think that the rapidity of this transition in under a week is a shocking and surprising thing but it’s not if you consider the single most important fact of this entire exercise.

This was never supposed to get this far!

With the very first accusation the GOP and the Donald Trump White House was supposed to be in dead panic and Brett Kavanaugh was supposed to have requested to have his name withdrawn and spend his live quietly in the DC circuit with a cloud over his head.

He did not.  When asked if he would withdraw the nomination after the accusation the president answered it was a “ridiculous question

When the 2nd and the 3rd accusation came out people expected Judge Kavanaugh to request the nomination be withdrawn.

He did not, instead he went on Fox to defend himself.

When Christine Ford testified (which still surprises me today) and the media unanimously lionized said testimony the left expected Judge Kavanaugh to respond as a Michael Dukakis and meekly defend himself.

He did not, instead he called out the senators for who they were and the left for who they are.

Finally you had the left clamoring for a FBI investigation that they fully expected to not take place

Instead Jeff “Please hire me MSM as your go to anti-trump anti-gop guy” Flake suddenly went along and so now there is a full week of the various claims of these people coming now being put under a spotlight, a spotlight that they never expected to face and a spotlight that none of them can withstand.

Why?  Because none of these charges were meant to be examined, Kavanaugh was supposed to be gone, the blue wave was supposed to come in November and all of this was to remain an object lesson for any judge who might dare consent to be considered by Trump for the Supreme Court.

That why the media is reduced to this on CNN:

CNN’s Camerota: Ford’s Tale ‘Makes More Sense’ Given Alleged Kavanaugh Ice Throw

and even this

MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell fretted that the seventh FBI background check into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was too restricted. Her hyperventilating over the issue got to a point where she suggested that the Bureau should actually investigate Kavanaugh for being “rude” to Democrats.

Indeed this is going so bad for the left we’ve actually reached the point where we have Senator Dianne Feinstein saying this

And we’re seeing stuff like this:

and now this:

In a sworn statement provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee, a man who claims to be an ex-boyfriend of Christine Blasey Ford says that he personally witnessed Ford coach a friend on how to take a polygraph exam. If true, it would mean Ford provided false testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee last week when she claimed she had never had any discussions with anyone about how to take a polygraph.

The troubling allegations about Ford’s polygraph history and potentially false testimony were revealed Tuesday in a letter from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, to attorneys for Ford. Ford and her attorneys have thus far refused to provide all polygraph-related documents and media to the Senate for review.

This is why we’ve gone from a media meme of Kavanaugh the rapist to Kavanaugh the ice thrower.  Now the the GOP is fighting back, even against loud protesters, it’s not only the best they have and likely the best their going to get.

I can’t wait till November.

Update: Added Daredevil quote because the GOP’s sudden surge of guts is cause for Democrat concern and reminds us all that without the guts of Trump and Kavanaugh none of this happens.

Christine Ford supposedly believed she was sending a letter in confident yet her entire Social Media Presence disappeared weeks before her name became public almost as if she and/or the people “handling” her wanted to make sure that you didn’t see her for who she actually is.

Update:  Consider the contrast to Brett Kavanaugh who has been an open book for decades in fact it once again reminds me of another man falsely accused a fellow Judge Kavanaugh is well acquainted with :

The high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his doctrine

Jesus answered him, “I have spoken publicly to the world. I have always taught in a synagogue or in the temple area 10 where all the Jews gather, and in secret I have said nothing.

Why ask me? Ask those who heard me what I said to them. They know what I said.”

Behold, I am sending you like sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.

But beware of people, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you will be led before governors and kings for my sake as a witness before them and the pagans.

When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. You will be given at that moment what you are to say. For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

Jesus Christ per Matthew 10:16-20

I had to work yesterday but I was able to watch most of Dr. Ford’s Testimony and after getting home from work I stayed up to watch Kavanaugh’s opening statement (I listened to 15 minutes of it during my 1st break at work) and watched DiFi’s and Durbin’s and Lindsey Graham before I hit the sack around 4 AM after writing this post.

This was a bad day for the left, let me take it in order.

A Ford not a Lincoln

After watching Dr Ford testify my impression of her is similar to the impression of this policeman after encountering Sheldon Cooper after a break-in

Policeman: Mr. Cooper, there’s nothing
Sheldon: Doctor Cooper.
Policeman: [looking at Leonard] Seriously?
Leonard: Not the kind with access to drugs.

The Big Bang Theory The Zarnecki Incursion 2011

The fact that Dr. Ford is DR Ford amazes me. She came across as one of the most clueless people I’ve ever seen. That being said she seems to completely believe what she is saying but also seems to have a very selective memory, or as she would say a selective Hippocampus, she is absolutely positively positive that Brett Kavanaugh assaulted her but seems to be unsure of a lot of basic facts from just a few weeks ago concerning her contact with the Senate on this issue
I thought that the sight of Democrats grandstanding while Mitchel asking the questions for the GOP was trying to ascertain facts would be noticed and at least one leftist media person noticed it:

NBC’s Chuck Todd said that Republicans’ representative at the Senate Judiciary hearing Rachel Mitchell had “done a great exposing Democrats playing games,” and that “Dr. [Christine Blasey] Ford was a victim of the Democrats playing politics,” on Thursday after the committee took its second break.

“She’s done a great job of exposing the Democrats of playing games,” Todd said of Mitchell. “I think that she’s made a better case explaining how Democrats sat on this.”

Ford is testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee about her allegations that Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh attempted to sexually assault her in the 1980s.

“It’s almost as if Dr. Ford was a victim of the Democrats playing politics,” Todd added.

It’s amazing that she seemed not to know that the committee offered to take her testimony in California, it’s almost as if she was kept in the dark by her own team for political reasons.

To me the two really devastating things in her testimony was the bit about flying, which suggested falsehoods from her camp that she was either part and parcel to or kept completely in the dark, to me even worse is her incredible explanation for her friend’s refusal to corroborate her statement. she claims it’s due to illness.

If this was a fact based process she would have been laughed out of the place but because optics are a big part of it that’s not the case. While the image of her often going to her lawyers looks bad to viewers because she seems innocent and clueless she might still play well with some. A lot of networks thought she was hitting it out of the park and predicted trouble for the GOP. Byron York, one of the best in the business said this

He might have been right, the left was all emotion and the GOP all Dukakis like facts. It could have been a problem in terms of optics…

…And then Brett Kavanaugh took the stand, he wasn’t Mike Dukakis at the debates in 88.

Kavanaugh was pissed and he didn’t hold it back, his opening statement was one of the most incredible things I’d ever seen and I guarantee you that after Ford’s testimony a whole lot of America was watching to see what he would say. No amount of script is adequate to describe it You have to see it to get the full force or it.

In my opinion that opening statement alone won him the American people, won him the nomination and might also have won the GOP the 2018 midterms.

He followed that up by demolishing Dianne Feinstein and Dick Durbin. I’ve yet to watch his exchannges with Hirono, Booker or Harris but if they were anything like the Feinstein or Durbin stuff it was bad news for Democrats all around. It was so bad they even managed to get Lindsey Graham angry.

What’s really amusing is the sudden contrast in how the media both professional and social dealt with his refusal to play the role they envisioned for him I think Byron York put it very well.

But Donald Trump put it best

Kavanaugh won the day and won it strong and based on reporting I’ve seen his performance and the disgraceful of the Democrats (which as I said yesterday only Clarie McCaskill seemed to have anticipated) is not only going to fire up the base for 2018 and beyond it’s going to give pause to any person with a mother, brother or father when it comes to giving these people power for a very long time.

Not counting the witnesses the person who came out looking the best was the lawyer hired by the GOP. Ms. Mitchell was professional , polite and full of substance in her work. I think the Senate would do well to permanently hire her for this function in the future and leave the grandstanding for the campaign trail.

The biggest loser is Dianne Feinstein. Her decision to sit on this letter burned the Democrats and cost them credibility in their call for an investigation, but most importantly for her it might have cost her re-election because in an election where there are two Democrats on the ballot for Senator GOP voter who might have pragmatically voted for her as the lesser of two evils are much more likely to vote for her opponent out of spite.

Finally I want to leave you with this thought that I’ve said before. The entire Democrat/media/leftist playbook here was predicated on the anticipation that either the president would withdraw the nomination in the face of these accusation or the nominee would ask to have his name withdrawn in the face of them and with any other GOP president and with any other nominee I suspect this strategy would have succeeded.

Without Judge Kavanaugh’s courage to stand and fight and without President Trump’s willingness to back him up, the short term result of the votes tomorrow and Saturday and the long term results that will come of it on election day doesn’t happen. AS I put it on twitter

I can’t wait for election day and as for Kavanaugh on the bench…

Had he received a normal confirmation, I suspect Kavanaugh would have been a bit of an establishment squish. I rather doubt that he’ll be that now.

Closing thought: After this what do dems do if/when Ginsburg retires or dies while Trump is in office?

Class Action 1991

Two days ago Rush Limbaugh said aloud something I had been thinking. Christine Ford is not going to testify under oath.

The fact that she cleared her social media history, sent her letter to a House member with no jurisdiction which coincidentally avoids the penalties of perjury and the repeated efforts to stall were all clues.

Now the big gun has been brought out.

I think this clinches it. The Democrat plan all along has been to spook either Trump or the GOP or Kavanaugh in order to get him to withdraw or to get Trump to pull the nomination.

All the bluster, all the talk, the New Yorker articles and Stormy Daniels lawyer all of it was to get him to cut and run.

Now it’s the day before the scheduled hearings. Ford has a choice, she can testify under oath under the same penalties of perjury that Kavanaugh has or she can cut and run. We’ve heard from Kavanaugh under oath it’s time for Ford to do the same.

I had been thinking that there was at least a 40% chance she shows up figuring that it would be tough to prove perjury unless they can find proof in communication with Democrat operatives and the deep state to protect her. Plus there is the risk to the gravy train if she cuts and runs.

Now seeing this tweet from Feinstein I’m thinking Rush is right. Ford might be figuring that Donald Trump is a Jacksonian and if any administration would pursue such a case it’s this one and it only takes one person to offer to talk, particularly if they are trading that talking for a lighter sentence on another matter.

Now I’m figuring it’s 90% that she cries “victim” and “unfair” and refuse to show with both the media and dems backing her up.

Politically it’s the best move for the left, the longer this goes on the more disgusted the non-pussy hat generation gets and the more likely this costs the left any hope of winning in the midterms. Better to cut your losses, cry “unfair” and then fund raise off of Kavanaugh in the hopes of winning in 2020.

Tomorrow should be really interesting.

About a week ago Erik at ¡No Pasarán! reprinted a letter from a French Resistance fighter from World War two that had been written to the Newspaper Le Monde back in 2010 about people appropriating the word “Resistance” for their personal cause long before the rise of Donald Trump:

These days, the word Resistance, with a capital R, is to be found everywhere, far more prominently than in 1940-1944! The Resistance of a teacher against new teaching methods, the Resistance against infringements on the rights of the gypsies, the Resistance against nuclear power… Today, there are certainly no more than 20 000 survivors to have effectively resisted, rifle in hand (or the equivalent: work in intelligence-gathering, etc…), prior to September 1944, and even fewer prior to the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. So do not put a capital R on your opposition to one thing and another, leave us with our Resistance, and use that great word only if, by misfortune, the duty to Resist were again to arise for real.

It’s an important message from a person who actually resisted real life Nazi’s at real life personal risk to himself and his friends.

It’s also explains how Christine Ford and now Deborah Ramirez and their political allies justify their acts to themselves.

In the movie the Longest Day there is a scene when the underground is activated by a series of coded messages to commit acts of targeted sabotage in order to aid the invasion of Normandy.  One such scene involves the derailing of a train and in that scene a woman named Janine Boitard distracts a pair of German guards so her allies can plant Dynamite on the tracks and eventually pushing one off a bridge and falling with him into the water as the train is derailed.

In the minds of Ford, Ramirez and those who have been seeing imaginary Nazi’s everywhere the GOP are Nazis and with Donald Trump is their Führer.  For three years they’ve insisted that despite all evidence or lack thereof internment camps, the silencing of opposing views and violence against political enemies  are just on the horizon unless they stop him.

Now for Democrat operatives, who know this is nonsense, all of this is about power so they will play along with this fantasy and encourage it as long as it has the potential to reward them politically. It’s a cynical and dangerous thing but it’s no danger to them and anyways that’s what useful idiots are for.

One might think this is a fringe but I’ve talked to people who actually believe this, I’ve seen these folks in action in Boston and elsewhere. In their minds there is no difference between Kristallnacht and Donald Trump replacing the retiring Justice Kennedy a kinda conservative judge with Judge Kavanaugh, an actual conservative judge.

This is why Ford and Ramirez are doing what they’re doing. They don’t see themselves as liberal partisans making ungrounded and unsupported accusations against a man who has led an estimable life, to derail a Supreme Court Pick before what they consider a favorable election in November and who regardless of the result will be feted and rewarded by the left, both financially and professionally for the rest of their days.

They think this is D-Day, the GOP in general and Brett Kavanaugh are the Nazis and they are Janine Boitard risking life and limb so that the Reich might fall. And any slander, any deception and any act that might do this, is morally justified.

Just ask James T. Hodgkinson, or Farzad Fazeli or Eric Clanton.

Lt George: Well then for goodness sake sir why don’t we join? [the Royal Flying Corps]
Private Baldrick: Yeah be better than just sitting around here all day on our elbows.

Blackadder Goes Forth Private Plane 1989

One of the repeating themes of our media/left betters is how brave Christine Ford is for bringing forward this accusation and how much risk she has put her self in.

There is only one rational reaction to this meme:  Are you serious?

Christine Ford is in a profession where conservatives are practically an endangered species, even if, as I suspect this all crashes and burns she is likely to be lionized within her profession. There will be speaking engagements, invitations to conferences, honors and plaudits galore simply for ensuring that this will be mentioned till the day Judge, soon to be Justice Kavanaugh dies.

And let’s not forget book deals, magazine deals and the like, after all print media is heavily dominated by the left. You can be sure she will get plenty of offers, be featured in magazines and written about endlessly as a brave example for women to follow.

Oh and of course there is the talk show circuit, don’t think for a second Oprah, the View, Ellen and all the others will not be slobbering all over her and ready to promote and elevate her at any time she wishes.

This is what she’s at risk of:

he September 20 episode begins with her highlighting the sexual accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh brought by Christine Blasey Ford. Like every left-leaning voice from the past week, she rushes to the defense of the questionable account as if it’s gospel, calling it “brave,” and angry that it hasn’t completely halted the confirmation process. How utterly predictable of her.

This entire “fear” and “suffering” business is BS. She’s a blue state person in a blue state job who associates with the most radical left there is. The only thing she has to fear is how to handle all the accolades she will be getting from folks in her group.

So please don’t insult my intelligence by talking about how brave and how much she’s risking. She’s risking nothing and stands to get the star treatment from the left for the rest of her days.

Oh the humanity!
