The Four Feathers 1939

One of the smartest sayings I’ve ever heard was this: There are three sides to every story, your side, my side and the truth.

There is how you remember events, how I remember events and how events actually took place. Sometimes we get them right, sometimes we get them wrong. Sometimes a particular piece of an event stands in our memory, other times over the years they get embellished from repeated retelling and human nature being what it is, such stories as they change never tend to make us look worse they always tend to make you either look better or make yourself the object of pity.

The best example I can think of this is the classic and slightly comic, scene from the ending of the classic 1939 move the Four Feathers (the start of which I quoted above) where Harry Faversham, to eliminate the final feather of cowardice given to him, corrects the General’s record on the story hehas been repeatedly telling all through the film:

Harry Faversham:  Let me recall the position. Out of the way, Peter. Here are the Russians, behind the walnuts. Guns. Guns. Guns. Here’s the British Infantry. The thin red line. [dips finger in the red wine and draws a line on the table] Here’s the commander in chief. [places an apple on the table] And here are you… [puts a pineapple down on the table] at the head of the old 68th, correct?
General Burroughs:  Absolutely.
Harry Faversham:  You were riding a horse called Caesar, which my father sold you… because, fine horseman though he was, he could never hold him himself.
General Burroughs:  Quite right. Quite right.
Harry Faversham:  Then, according to your story, you said… “The 68th will move forward. “
General Burroughs:  Quite right. Quite right.
Harry Faversham:  Yes, sir. The trouble is, you never said it.
General Burroughs:  – Ne –
Harry Faversham:  You never said it, sir.
General Burroughs:   Never said it?
Harry Faversham: No, sir. You never had time. At that moment, my father told me, Caesar – uh, Caesar – Caesar… [puts a spoon under the Pineapple ] startled by a stray bullet, took the bit between his teeth… and dashed straight at the Russian lines. Away went Caesar, away went you, away went the 68th…away went the commander in chief, away went everybody… and another magnificent mistake was added to an already magnificent record. But nobody ever said, “The 68th will move forward. ” Unless it was the horse. Come on, sir. Own up.
General Burroughs: Well, well, well, well, after all these years, it’s rather difficult to remember all the details… but… confound the boy!
I shall never be able to tell that story again!

Harry Faversham:  [Turns to the General’s daughter] Ethne, your feather.

This is why body cameras are such a good idea for police, as it gives an accurate (if occasionally incomplete) sequence of events without favor to either the police officer or the suspect (the later being the reason why the left, having insisted on them for year suddenly as a problem with them).

And that brings us to the difference between the allegations against Roy Moore and Al Frankwn, Bill Clinton, John Conyers and Harvey Weinstein.

With Charlie Rose we have an apology.  With Al Franken, we have photographic evidence and an apology.  With Harvey Weinstein we have decades of large cash settlements, with representative John Conyers we have investigations and settlements paid out.  In all those cases there were admissions of guilt or payments to settle claims made.

That leaves Bill Clinton who repeatedly denied what was going on until two things took place:  He was forced under oath when Paula Jones launched her sexual harassment suit, and the physical evidence of the semen stained blue dress was produced.  Confronted with these two things Bill Clinton came at least partially clean.

So in other words in all of the cases above we have one or more of the following:

  1.  An admission of guilt
  2.  Settlements paid
  3.  Investigations by a competent body
  4.  Physical evidence of wrongdoing
  5.   Accusations made under oath.

What do we have in the Roy Moore case?  None of these things.  No admission of guilt, no settlements paid to accusers, no investigations made by a competent body.  The entire body of physical evidence is an old yearbook signature that the lawyer of the claimant not only refuses to release for examination but admits she has not even asked her client if she saw Mr. Moore sign said book,

As for accusations, we have plenty of people saying all kinds of things from the Icky to the criminal but all of these statements have one thing in common.

None of them are part of a complaint to the authorities,  none of them have been made as part of a civil suit, none of them have been made as responses to investigations in progress or as testimony before a competent body.

Or put simply none of them have been made under oath.  Nobody from the man claiming they had to watch Moore near cheerleaders to the woman making the accusation of assault at age 14 have been willing as of this writing to make such claims under oath either in the form of a civil or criminal complaint or as sworn testimony concerning them.

They have no hesitation to tell all kinds of narratives to the press or on TV, but not if there is the slightest hint of legal jeopardy from perjury or even the much smaller crime of filing a false police report or the slightest chance that said narrative would be challenged by cross examination or evidence to counter it.

Now as I’ve repeatedly said, if Roy Moore is lying I think he should be toast, even if it means the temporary loss of a senate seat in Alabama (after all the if the GOP won’t pass the bills they promised with 52 votes being down to 51 won’t make much of a difference).   On this point I differ with some of my friends on the right. Furthermore it is not out of the realm of possibility that one of those five conditions might be met concerning Roy Moore before election day.

But until I see that happen I will not only continue to support Moore’s campaign for the senate but will call out the dishonorable left/media for lumping Roy Moore with the increasing numbers of proven reprobates from the Harvey Weinstein left based on ephemera.

Update: Linked by old friend Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit, and by the folks at Canon 212 who I would ask to pray for me. Thanks much both of you.

You have done this deed in secret, but I will bring it about in the presence of all Israel, and with the sun looking down.

1 Samuel 12:12

One of the things that has confused me since the days following the election has been the MSM and the left’s 24/7 all hitting Trump all the time business.

I understood the shock but the simple fanaticism of the attacks non stop confused me in it’s idiocy.

Now I get it.

And why did the story break when it did? Credit the much-maligned Rep. Devin Nunes, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. The California Republican has been pursuing the dossier more aggressively than anyone else, and it was his Oct. 4 subpoena for the bank records of Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm that handled the dossier, that finally shook loose the information.

But knowing that the Clinton campaign, the DNC, and Perkins Coie supported the dossier is not the end of the story. The most important next step is the FBI.

Sometime in October 2016 — that is, at the height of the presidential campaign — Christopher Steele, the foreign agent hired by Fusion GPS to compile the Trump dossier, approached the FBI with information he had gleaned during the project. According to a February report in the Washington Post, Steele “reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work.”

It was an astonishing turn: the nation’s top federal law enforcement agency agreeing to fund an ongoing opposition research project being conducted by one of the candidates in the midst of a presidential election. “The idea that the FBI and associates of the Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for president in the run-up to the election raises further questions about the FBI’s independence from politics, as well as the Obama administration’s use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends,” wrote Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.

This is why the left went all in the day after the election, why pressure was put on Jeff Sessions to recuse himself so a special prosecutor could be appointed and why Rep Nunes was target one from day one, because once if it was revealed that the FBI and other federal agencies were used by a Democrat administration to target their political foes at the highest level it (combined with the Weinstein revelation) has the potential to completely and utterly break these people both politically and legally. And even the MSM is starting to figure this out.

I knew the Obama/Clinton machine was corrupt but even I didn’t realize how bad it actually was

I think what we are going to find out over the next year is going to be amazing but there is one thing I’m now sure of.

Donald Trump may or may not make America great again but there is no question anymore that his election saved this country.

K’Mtar: Freeze programme. You should have killed him when you had the chance.
Lt Worf: Why did you not?
Alexander: I don’t know.
K’Mtar: Look at him! He did not care that you showed him mercy. He was going to kill you.
Worf: K’mtar, that is enough.
K’Mtar: If this was real, he’d be dead by now.

Star Trek The Next Generation Firstborn 1994

As reports that President Trump is prepared to end or at least not renew Barack Obama’s dispensation for the children of illegal aliens who, through no fault of their own, were brought here by their parents illegally allowing then to continue to stay without fear of deportation debate on the subject has been renewed.

Unlike most of the debate concerning illegal immigration this is one of the few point where there is some merit to both sides of this argument but that’s fodder for a follow up post for now I’d like to state a political reality that many moderate members of the GOP caucus from Paul Ryan on down seem to have either forgotten or decided to deliberately ignore.

For a very long time the MSM has spun the narrative that thanks to demographics the GOP is doomed politically unless they adopt the open borders narrative and support legislation that provides amnesty for illegal immigrants and their children and that if they fail to do so they will suffer electoral disaster.

Furthermore Activist groups have insisted that the opposition to open borders is a matter of race hatred toward “hispanics” (from the mythical land of Hispanica no doubt) the MSM has suggested that the only way to prove that GOP voters and pols were not a bunch of race haters was to support programs like DACA.

And sure enough there have been GOP member who have rushed to do just that to prove to the MSM and activists that they are different from that nasty Donald Trump and those deplorable Tea party people who voted for him.  Folks like Paul Ryan:

House Speaker Paul Ryan says the president should preserve former President Barack Obama’s DACA amnesty even though “Obama did not have the legislative authority to do what he did.”
President Donald Trump should also let Congress decide how to deal with the DACA, Ryan told a Wisconsin radio show on Friday morning.

and Thom Tillis:

Conservative lawmakers led by Thom Tillis are crafting a bill they call the conservative Dream Act that would provide a path to permanent residency to people brought here illegally as children, offering President Donald Trump an escape hatch on one of his most vexing immigration challenges.

might expect to be well rewarded by said MSM and activist for their efforts on their behalf, that is they would be if the narrative being offered wasn’t based no two huge lies.

The first being that said opposition to DACA and/or illegal immigration is a losing issue.  While it is true that Donald Trump’s very public declarations concerning a wall might have run up vote totals for Hillary Clinton in Blue States like New York, Illinois and California where Republicans have little power but rather than cost him electoral votes won him states like Iowa,  Ohio and Florida (last won by GOP in 2004)  Pennsylvania , Michigan and an electoral vote in Maine (last won by GOP in 1998) and even Wisconsin (last won by the GOP in 1984 during the Reagan 49 state landslide).  Furthermore the rise in the Tea Party directly corresponds with GOP victories on the congressional and state level that have given the GOP the house since 2010 but has given them clear control of both houses of congress and the presidency.

The second lie is even bigger, and that’s the idea that either the MSM or activists will stop considering republicans who support DACA or illegal immigration racists.  While the MSM and activists will give these folks lip service as long as they are seen as useful in their clash with conservatives in general and Donald Trump in particular but the moment that DACA is enshrined into law Representative Ryan and Senator Tillis will suddenly discover that the activist community will find a new reason to call them racist haters and offer a new demand for them to fulfill and the MSM will again insist that without their support for this new demand they will never get “Hispanic” support.

It’s extremely ironic that experienced pols can so easily fall for lies so obvious but it’s always possible that they are not the ones that are being played for suckers by the MSM and activists on the left, but that they are playing the voters who elected them promising to  support border security and then hedging when the time comes just as they did on Obamacare.

The question is, are they fools, liars or both?

There were quite a few people who came out winners from the events of Boston Common.  Today we’re going to list those who earned honorable (or dishonorable) mentions and the 1st and 2nd runners-up in that pageant:

Honorable (or Dishonorable) Mentions

Mayor Marty Walsh:  He was able to play up his credentials not only as an opponent of the President, and a denouncer of hate,  but his decision to deploy rather than stand down police allowed him to project an image of law and order without damage to his liberal credentials and, despite a few exceptions, the success of the Police in maintaining overall safety for people in the crowd (if you weren’t wearing an Israeli Flag, a Trump Banner or was a policeman) earned him national praise that might come in handy if he wants to progress to a senate seat or the governor’s chair.

Left wing fringe groups:  The various activist groups from ANSWER to the Socialist Workers et/al had a great day on Boston common.  Not only were they able to get the media and mayor to uncritically accept their premise that the speakers like Shiva Ayyadurai were Nazis and Klansmen, not only where they able to keep anyone from hearing what they actually said, they were able, because of the size of the crowd who arrived to oppose the unseen Nazis and Klan members, to give the impression of a much larger base of support than they actual have for their fringe political positions.

The News Media:  Their willingness to run with and sell the left whole “Nazi/White Supremacist Hoard descending on Boston” meme meant they were given a spectacle which provided them with days of copy and tons of coverage to attract eyeballs and thus advertisers. Even better for the media their success in selling the meme gives them a chance to deploy it any time a tea party group gets a permit from any city in Massachusetts.

2nd Runner up:  The Boston Police

The Boston Police was both a short term and a long term winners of events on the common. Despite Jeff Jacoby’s correct assessment concerning actual free speech, their highly visible presence at the event, their ability to prevent fatalities or serious injury combined with their willingness to be the primary target of the ANTIFA thugs violence, not only achieved their primary goal of avoiding a blood bath or serious riot, but rightly raised their stature both locally and nationally as a peace force.  Regular people, with nothing to do with professional activism, who turned up to oppose “nazis” were thanking police for keeping them safe and rightly so.

Sure there were State Police and Transit Police there as well but the City’s police force was the most visible and got the lions share of the attention and credit.

1st Runner up:  ANTIFA

I’m sorry to say ANTIFA was the 2nd biggest winner of the events on Boston Common for many reasons:

They were able to show numbers. The total amount of masked thugs was considerable which meant a pretty good show of muscle.

They were accepted and cheered by the crowd despite (or perhaps because of) their violent history against any who they consider their political opponents.

Because of the size of the crowd, the need for police to protect certain areas and people and the media’s disinterest they were able to get away with isolated acts of violence with impunity .

Although there were a small amount of folks arrested, you actually had incredible sight online of police asking ANTIFA thugs to “to refrain from throwing urine, bottles and other harmful projectiles at our officers.” as they ignored said request while berating and assaulting officers.  Perhaps next time they’ll be able to get the police to say “please”.

Like any group of actual fascists their real power is to intimidate far beyond their actual numbers.  Boston Common put that intimidation factor on display to those they wanted to keep in check.  I’m not just talking about City Mayors not wanting to blow their budgets on police details denying permits or venues and groups choosing to avoid public event due to fear of liability cost or physical violence.  I’m not even talking about the tiny group of speakers who would have been dwarfed even if the 100’s of ANTIFA folk never showed their face.

I’m talking about the successful display of physical power to their political allies on the left.  They were the real target.  Thanks to events on the common where ANTIFA was willing to take on police and show some muscle against their foes out of police sight, reporters who might consider a critical story, activists who might consider giving the other side a chance to speak and even regular people, particularly those not enamored with the 2nd amendment who might decide they agree with the President or the Tea Party on an issue or two will think twice before doing so thanks to the fear (rational or not) that their actions will prompt a visit from the folks wearing masks.

Finally all of this will attract the young stupid recruits that are the bread and meat for such Fascists, particularly from those who are rejected (didn’t the crowd show them support?) or fearful (Wouldn’t it be great to have a bunch of strong friends having your back?) or thuggish (didn’t they stand up to police even with the whole country watching?).  Boston was ANTIFA’s recruitment video for useful idiots and there are plenty of directionless and foolish teens and twenty somethings who will see it and come running.

As for the big winner from events in Boston, that’s tomorrow lead post.

I want to bring to your attention 4 stories that all add up to one thing concerning the left’s Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Item: The Return of Democrat Astroturf:

Headline: Obama PACs Bus Protesters To GOP Town Halls

Political action committees that fundraised for President Barrack Obama during the 2012 presidential election, bused protesters to Republican town hall events nationwide earlier in February, according to a Sunday report from The Washington Post.

Democrats nationwide continue to search for ways to oppose President Donald Trump after the 2016 election, and they are digging deep into funding from years ago. An unnamed pro-Obama super PAC organized protests at several town halls, going so far as busing protesters outside the member’s districts.

Because nothings says “grassroots anger” like political PACS sending people to meetings to generate anger.

Item:  The Shadow President

Headline: How Obama is scheming to sabotage Trump’s presidency

In what’s shaping up to be a highly unusual post-presidency, Obama isn’t just staying behind in Washington. He’s working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government to not only protect his threatened legacy, but to sabotage the incoming administration and its popular “America First” agenda.

He’s doing it through a network of leftist nonprofits led by Organizing for Action. Normally you’d expect an organization set up to support a politician and his agenda to close up shop after that candidate leaves office, but not Obama’s OFA. Rather, it’s gearing up for battle, with a growing war chest and more than 250 offices across the country.

If Trump is supposed to be the Dictator how come Obama is scheming to keep power?

Item: The Things that Worry Rich Liberals

Headline: Trump ties to Upper East Side school stirs moms

Upper East Side moms are having a spirited online debate over whether to boycott a school where a grandchild of President Trump is a student.

One of the anonymous contributors to UrbanBaby.com said her son had gotten into Buckley [School], but she didn’t want to send him there because a son of Donald Trump Jr.’s (likely 4-year-old Spencer Frederick) is said to be going to kindergarten there in the fall.

“They will be in the same classroom and I don’t think I can deal with this. Birthday parties, etc.,”…A third mother wrote: “You almost have to decline. It sounds like it will drive you crazy . . . You want to spend nine years worried that DS [darling son] is getting infected with Trumpism?”

I’ll let Doctor Stephanie Barnett handle this one

These people never left high schools intellectually did they/

Item: Chanting: We are the .011%!

Headline Hundreds gather in Washington Square Park to rally against Trump’s policies

Manhattan — Hundreds gathered in Washington Square Park to criticize Mayor de Blasio and city council members for their continued support for broken windows policing.

Rally organizers of this Immigrant-led coalition claimed that while the Trump administration steps up their war on immigrants, the city has yet to take any concrete action to live up to the city’s sanctuary status.

“We are calling on New York City to be a real sanctuary city,” Karina Garcia, a rally organizer, told PIX11 News. “We want a sanctuary city for all immigrants and people of color. No more arrests under broken windows policing.”

A reminder, New York has a population estimated at 8.5 million and they drew HUNDREDS!

What do these stories have in common, they show that loudest opposition to Donald Trump is basically fake news.

Think about it, Donald Trump is so unpopular that in order to draw people opposed to his policies to town halls it’s necessary to have Super Pacs buss them in and have the ex president of the United States political machine help coordinate attacks.

Furthermore in NYC where Donald Trump managed only 18% of the vote (2,229,537 to 494,548) The 2,229,537 are so outraged that a whole .044% of them showed up to rally against him in the largest city in the United States (and that doesn’t take into account all the surrounding cities they could have drawn protests from .

But more importantly it’s story #3. The private school story that tells the tale. The real opposition to Trump, the opposition that’s getting press is, in my opinion from rich white liberals who, unlike folks who have been living paycheck to paycheck or have seen their real wages drop, have reached a point in their lives where the only real difficulties in life are the ones in their own minds.

Put Simply to steal a phrase from the great Evan Sayet who has them pegged, it’s a revolt from the Kindergarden of Eden and if we had an honest media it would be treated as such.

Which is why it is not

Just after the Islamic Terror attack on the gay nightclub Pulse, Facebook, you know those guys who insist they are not censoring conservatives, decided to take strong action…against one of the most prominent opponents and a onetime target of Islamic terror Pam Geller

When Breitbart News and Geller objected they followed up by suspending Geller herself.

Just hours after they removed her 50,000-strong group, “Stop Islamization Of America,” Facebook has issued prominent Islam critic Pamela Geller with a 30-day ban.

Well apparently Facebook has discovered that such actions directed against a person targeted for assassination by Islamic Terrorists in response to her critique of the mass slaughter of Gays by an islamic terrorist not only tends to draw unfavorable press but really doesn’t play well with a large segment of the population.

You spoke — you wrote, emailed, called, and YOU succeeded in getting my page and my privileges back. THANK YOU and thank Breitbart for raising a ruckus. Communicating and sharing information is the key to building an army of Davids to defeat the enormous enemedia myths and lies. Each one of my readers is a one-man media organization educating those in your sphere of influence. This is a war on freedom of speech in the age of jihad and sharia. And Facebook is key.

Now this would be just another story about a company backing off after a bad decision but what really got my goat was this quote from Breitbart’s coverage of Facebook’s volte face of the email Facebook sent to Pam after the reinstatement of both groups.

“A member of our team accidentally removed something you posted on Facebook. This was a mistake, and we sincerely apologize for this error. We’re since restored the content and you should now be able to see it.”

I don’t know what bothers me more, the sheer mendacity of that statement or the insult to my intelligence required to expect me to believe it.

On the bright side it’s very nice of Facebook for doing their best to turn my decision not to join facebook into a positive virtue.

Closing question:

Three Days ago I scored a quick exclusive interview with Senator Ted Cruz. My first question was this:

DaTechGuy: I watched your interviews in the past

Senator Ted Cruz: Yup

DTG: and one of the things I’ve noticed is whether it’s Jose Ramos or Katie Couric you never let yourself conform to the media’s template.

Cruz: Right Right

DTG: and How important is that to advance the conservative message and why don’t other republicans see this?

Cruz: It’s critically important. The media are not our friends, they are partisan players, They are not fair and impartial umpires. The most important protectors of Barack Obama right now, is the mainstream media and no one is more ready for Hillary than the mainstream media.

So the media tries, typically to do two things to republicans; To caricature us as either evil or stupid. So they ask question to us that are often rigged to paint us as either evil or extreme. And on the flip side they give these love fests to Democrats and try to paint them as loving and wonderful and caring about kids and furry kittens and bunny rabbits.

And we’ve got to understand where the media’s coming from and not accept the false premises of their questions and instead, Look the path to winning is not complicated, speak the truth with a smile.

The truth is conservative principles work. The Truth is the American free enterprise system has been the greatest engine for prosperity and opportunity the world has ever seen. The truth is our constitutional liberties are the foundation of opportunity in this county and The Truth is that American when it recedes from leadership in the world makes the world a much more dangerous place

When we know what we believe and speak the truth we win but we can’t let the media trap us, and we’ve got to understand what we believe and be prepared to defend it with hostile media questions.

You can see the video here

A pair of young Democrat activists Tyler & Kaity apparently didn’t watch that interview of mine because they attempted to play Ambush with Ted Cruz and he didn’t play along, to wit:

Ted Cruz: …Now you asked a question, ‘do you believe in climate change?’. Of course! From the dawn of time the climate has been changing. Until the end of time the climate will change. And yet interestingly enough the political liberals, their solution to climate change is exactly the same as it was to global cooling and global warming. Massive government control of the economy, energy sector, and our lives. And when you start to see politicians who propose the exact same solution to every problem regardless of the facts or the data you start to think these are politicians who just want power over our lives.

Having failed on the first go, Kaity Thomson gave it a shot and her exchange showed all the arrogance of youth:

Kaity Thomson: “Why do you disagree with me you are not a scientist.”

Senator Ted Cruz: “Both my parents are scientists and mathematicians. My father was a geophysicist.”

Thomson: Are they climate scientists?

Cruz: My father was a geophysicist.

Thomson: That’s different.

Now I was young and foolish once myself so perhaps one might forgive the absurdities shown in the transcript by young Kaite & Tyler, but there is a different between the arrogance of youth and dishonesty. I cite here the titles of the videos on Youtube

Ted Cruz absurd climate change denial.

Ted Cruz insults University of New Hampshire, denies the earth is warming

Not only are both dishonest but I challenge anyone to read that transcripts and call Senator Cruz’s answers “absurd” or find the “insult” to the University of New Hampshire.

Even so the most interesting part of those two videos on youtube are what they have in common as showed by these two screen shots:

No comments 2

No comments 1

No comments on our videos allows, we don’t trust our viewer or follows to say what they think.

So let’s review, we have two young adults who attempt an ambush interview of the senator, who attempt to advance a particular premise and agenda, who find themselves unable to cope with their “subject” rejecting their premise and agenda, who title their videos pejoratively yet are so proud and so confident of their work they don’t dare allow those who view it to publicly comment on it.

Kaity, Tyler, you have a great future in the Mainstream media.

Black Adder Goes Fourth General Hospital 1989

As I recall it was a mere week ago that the left was beside itself at Judge Roy Moore daring to defy federal courts claiming:

So the chief justice, never shy about taking on a fight, even a losing one, acted. He fired off a missive to state probate judges to refuse the marriage licenses to gay couples, saying they weren’t bound to adhere to the ruling of the federal judge who declared Alabama’s gay marriage ban unconstitutional.

this has led to an ethics complaint by the liberal Southern Poverty Law Center and sites on the left have been full of accusation and outrage

The Bottom line is the left is absolutely beside itself that Moore a state judge would defy a federal ruling and have made it clear that such a stance is not to be tolerated in a law-abiding America.

Unless of course it’s a ruling they don’t like:

But perhaps more unsettling to supporters of constitutional checks and balances is the finding that 43% of Democrats believe the president should have the right to ignore the courts. Only 35% of voters in President Obama’s party disagree, compared to 81% of Republicans and 67% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

Allah Pundit comments:

Once you tell the president it’s cool to ignore court rulings if it’s “important,” you might as well pass an enabling act and hand him supreme power. Forty-three percent of Democrats, an actual plurality, didn’t flinch, though. And the irony is, Obama’s own defenses of his power grabs aren’t much more sophisticated than that. His rationale for executive amnesty is that Congress is hopelessly gridlocked, the legal limbo that illegals find themselves in is intolerable, and we’ve now reached a point of crisis (a political crisis for the White House, not a policy crisis) that simply demands executive action. It’s crucially important that he act unilaterally and that he act now, even though he can’t quite explain — again, on policy terms — why that is. Just trust him. It’s important. And Democrats do, including and especially the core Democratic constituencies of women, young adults, and minorities.

This might seem a contradiction to most of us but as this is one of the advantages of a philosophy whose primary driver is ends justifying means.

Every now and then I see foolishness like this from our friends on the left.

It takes a special type of dishonesty or stupidity to make this argument so for the sake of those who have heard it let me demonstrate how in three steps you can become the greatest deficit hawk in history.

STEP 1: Borrow and spend more than any president in the history of history creating the biggest deficit of all time.

Step 2. In the following year borrow less than that incredible amount.

Step 3: Begin your baseline measurement from that first year when you borrowed all that money

Viola: You can now honestly claim you have cut the deficit and pretend to be fiscally responsible.

Our friends on the left use this type of nonsense because it works with the low info voter who is their base, but I suggest you don’t try this at home, because if you do it will lead to a life dodging collection agencies and eventual bankruptcy.
