One of the secrets of staying Married for 25 years is remembering the person you’re married to.
Wednesday I took my wife north Sanford Maine on a belated mothers day to visit fabric stores. she is a quilter and nothing gets a quilter happier than fabric stores:
We started at the Main Chain Mardens. The location appeared to be an old Bradlees (all the shopping carts had the Bradlees logo that I hadn’t seen in over a decade).
While in general the prices at the store were pretty good (I purchased a half dozen pairs of reading glasses as I constantly lose them at half the price I would have paid elsewhere) according to the wife the fabrics, while available in quantity at reasonable prices were not anything special.
I had noticed Sanford Sewing Machines on the way to Marsdens while my wife thought it was just a repair place I figured we should stop in and she was glad we did. While their primary business is the sale and repair of sewing Machines they had a fair fabric selection and my wife was rather pleased at the visit finding fabric she really loved.
And as the quilting community is really a share and share alike type of crowd they directed us to Kathie’s Quilt shoppe a few miles down the road which was the highlight of DaWife’s day.
It was a converted private house with a plethora of quilts
Books on Quilting
And fabric to make my wife’s day. I noticed a particular pattern that really caught my eye called the Scrappy Trip Quilt
That one of the customers had made. Kathie was kind enough to do an interview to tell us just how to make one
