Vinny Gambini: Building a case is like building a house. Each piece of evidence is just another building block. He wants to make a brick bunker of a building. He wants to use serious, solid-looking bricks, like, like these, right?

Bill: Right.

Vinny Gambini: Let me show you something. (holds a playing card face up) He’s going to show you the bricks. He’ll show you they got straight sides. He’ll show you how they got the right shape. He’ll show them to you in a very special way, so that they appear to have everything a brick should have. But there’s one thing he’s not gonna show you. (turns the card, to show the edge) When you look at the bricks from the right angle, they’re as thin as this playing card. His whole case is an illusion, a magic trick.

A few days ago we talked about the Meme police. making sure you get a message that can’t get out of your head.

The problem of course with pushing and establishing a meme is that even if you build a meme that appears solid, even if you show the straight sides, the right shape, a meme that has everything the message you want to sell should have, every once in a while reality turns the card on its side/a>.

George Zimmerman, the man whose acquittal on murder and manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin set off a wave of protests across the nation, helped rescue a family from an overturned SUV four days after the verdict, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday.

The statement said that on Wednesday, at approximately 5:45 p.m. ET, the sheriff’s office responded to a single car accident at an intersection in the Sanford, Fla., area not far from where Zimmerman, 29, shot Trayvon, 17, in February 2012. The statement said a blue Ford Explorer had run off the road and rolled over with a family of four inside.

Now normally if you have facts that are inconvenient to your meme or your narrative such as say, the slaughter of young black men by other young black men, you can hide it or ignore it.

But once a Zimmerman is thrust into public view, suddenly everything he does becomes news. News that can’t be ignored by places like Good morning America:

and the today show

Visit for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

that is the target audience for your meme.

And why couldn’t they ignore it, because the story was already out on facebook and all over the net so much so that my wife already knew about it before I could tell her.

You can spin such a story but you can’t ignore it and if you’re very unlucky you might end up with a follow-up story that makes your meme look worse:

The family rescued from a car accident by George Zimmerman, days after he was cleared of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, canceled plans to thank him publicly because they fear being linked to someone reviled by many Americans, Zimmerman’s lawyer said on Wednesday.

“The family, who really wanted to thank George for doing what he did publicly … realized that in any way connecting yourself with George Zimmerman is right now very toxic,” Mark O’Mara, Zimmerman’s lead attorney, told CNN.

The George Zimmerman as an evil racist killer meme might be a most comfortable lie for the most loyal members of the Obama team, but for the public in general it is in real trouble

I see an awful lot of people on the net Ann Althouse Smitty, Neo Neocon to Richard Epstein to pointing out the obvious weakness in the arguments of the Al Sharpton, the Jessie Jacksons and the various democrat race pimps who spent this weekend in rallies (rallies, I suspect much smaller than anyone in the media want to admit) and still trying to sell the story of the George He doesn’t count as black or hispanic, really he doesn’t Zimmerman killing a young black man over race.

But while it is vital to keep pointing out these truths and making sure that people who aren’t paying attention know these facts there is one very important thing that has to be understood. Their target audience is not the black community.

Now that might seem counter intuitive in doing when doing this. If you are looking to change the media meme, to counteract the power of the meme police it would seem necessary to make the sale to the black community to, as Bill Whittle does present the evidence that can’t be disputed:

Even so if you are choosing to make this case to the black community you are wasting your time.

The vast majority of the black community already know it.

Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and Joan Walsh may like to pretend that the Black community in 2013 is being held back by the Bull Connors of the 50’s.  They will pretend there are rednecks stopping their community at the voting booths, and may can paint a picture of intact black families cowering in their homes and apartments as the Klan, Confederate flags flying proudly drive through their neighborhood looking for black teens to kill, and some liberals and low information voters might actually believe it.

The Black community doesn’t.  They live in those cities, they vote in those neighborhoods and know who is pulling the trigger when their children are killed.  They live these realities every single day.

Then why do they put up with it?  Fairly simple

They find the message of the Jacksons, Sharptons and Walshs a most comfortable lie and that official lie endorsed by the media elite remains more palatable than admitting the truth, at least in the hearing of the wrong people.

And as long as that is true, they will continue to be silent in the face of it, and nothing will change.

Still Looking to fill this week’s paycheck only $70 to go

I got home from a couple of errands wondering what I was going to say about Detroit and Obama’s statement from last year at election time:

And I was still thinking about what I was going to say about the incredible testimony on the IRS case that went down yesterday:

Still, what landed was a bombshell. And Democrats know it. Which is why they are so desperate to make the investigation go away. They know, as Republicans do, that the chief counsel of the IRS is one of only two Obama political appointees in the entire agency.

But what was all over the news? This:

Suddenly there is no other story in the country, suddenly no other topic matters and suddenly MSNBC & CNN have another reason to talk about anything but a bad economy, Detroit and a scandal that continues to move closer and closer to the white house operation is nowhere to be found and that short Obama speech is going to be topic one for the entire weekend news cycle.

People wonder why Barack Obama would spontaneously make himself available to talk about the Trayvon Martin today.

I don’t

Update: Why replaces what in that last paragraph, I don’t.

Still $72 to go for me and my paycheck.

Mr. Davis . is however only 4% toward to goal of raising the moment to take care of the final expenses of his wife.

A man who has served as much as him could really use a hand.

As I watch MSNBC and see Al Sharpton et/all go crazy over the verdict of the Zimmerman case and hear the NAACP appeal to the federal government for relief I kept remembering a repeated meme that I’ve seen at Instapundit

George Zimmerman is blacker than Homer Plessy.

For those of you who are not schooled in American History Homer Plessy subject of the famous Supreme Court Case Plessy v Ferguson that established the doctrine of “Separate but equal” until Brown vs Board of Education overturned it.

As Ann Althouse and Michael Barone pointed out George Zimmerman is 1/4 Black (via his grandmother)

The Irony is overwhelming, it’s the 50’s all over again!  Consider:

A 1/4 black man has been acquitted of murder and we are seeing a  group of powerful and influential people determined to make him pay.

A 1/4 Black man has been acquitted of murder and we are seeing a mob of people willing to publicly threaten to kill him for it.

I guess they were right, Jim Crow is back after all

One final thought:

If George Zimmerman had run for and been elected president in 2004 the same people who are calling his acquittal a travesty and calling for his murder would have cheered and celebrated him as the first black president.

Update: Instalanche, but I have to disagree with Roger Simon. His presumption of the president being a “big loser” is based on his disgraceful actions, not on his goals. He forgets for the left the ends justifies the means and because of this Barack Obama is a big winner. Now only was he able to use this case to spike black turnout in 2012 but this verdict allows his partisans to continue to use this case as a club in 2014 races and beyond.

After five weeks of short paychecks last week was just wonderful, not only by Monday did I have a full paycheck and more to catch up on all the short weeks but it also meant that for vie days I didn’t have to make a daily pitch. It was great!

Well it’s Sunday and a new week so that means the quest for a paycheck begins again.

Thanks to the excellent results of last week If I can draw a full paycheck the next two weeks July & June together will be a net success.

So if you think this site is worth is, consider hitting DaTipJar below, if 15 of you do so this week for $20.40 then I can secure a full $305 paycheck

Just changed the channel and was surprised to see the not guilty verdict, when I heard the jury ask about manslaughter I presumed he was in trouble.

There are a lot of long faces on MSNBC and CNN isn’t all that happy either but in terms of what it will mean for rating and their memes they do a lot better with an acquittal than with a conviction. With an acquittal you can play the race card all day long.

Already Sharpton is talking a civil rights case and the MSNBC expert is really blaming the prosecutors.

I think it’s unfair to them. The Prosecutors had a lousy case and they did the best they could with it in terms of lawyer.

The ball is in the community’s court

Update: Did Angela Corey actually try to say this case wasn’t about race? This entire prosecution was about race and she insults our intelligence by saying so.

Update 2: At the press conference the lead defender was asked how this case would have gone if George Zimmerman was black (he is actually) his answer was dramatic, provocative and absolutely true” “If George Zimmerman was black he never would have been charged with a crime”

The best comment I’ve seen however comes from Robert Stacy McCain: emphasis mine

Honestly, I thought the jury was going to convict on manslaughter — even had that set up as the headline and then was shocked when I heard, “Not guilty.” But I was never emotionally invested in this story, one way or the other. There were arguments to be made either way. A kid should be able to walk to the store and back without ending up shot dead; on the other hand, the original finding of investigators was that Zimmerman was exercising his right to self-defense, and there were those who believed Zimmerman was put on trial simply to satisfy political agitators.

Justice may have been the winner in that Zimmerman should not be locked up but the bottom line is Martin is dead, Zimmerman’s life is likely destroyed and the country is divided and none of this from the shooting to the charging to the trial needed to happen, period. Everyone involved needs prayers.

Update 3:  A very good point by Ed Morrissey:

The panel appeared to have taken its duty seriously, and reached the only verdict possible with the evidence presented to it.  Clearly the second-degree murder charge was ridiculous on its face, and the prosecution’s decision to overcharge could possibly have undermined its credibility, too.

The second-degree murder charge was unreasonable — and the prosecution provided almost no evidence in support of it.  A manslaughter charge was at least rational, though, and a jury might have convicted on that charge, if they could find no reasonable doubt that Zimmerman had rationally feared for his life or grave bodily harm without the use of lethal force.

I’m wondering if the state charges Manslaughter and plays the case from day 1 based on that charge does it win?  after all they Jury took many hours to ask the manslaughter question.  That suggests the entire process was political in nature rather than justice driven.

Yesterday was not a good day for the MSNBC narrative at Morning Joe.

Joe Scarborough, outnumbered around the table as usual, was the only one smiling as the Narrative of “Romney/GOP war on women” crumbled before the new polls results from CBS/NYT. That must have been enjoyable for Joe but there are three new changes to conventional wisdom that will not be so much fun for him:

1. ITEM: Sarah PALIN that’s who.

One week ago the Deb Fischer campaign was in tatters, one opponent was endorsed by the GOP establishment and the other by Jim DeMint a tea party favorite. On May 9th Sarah Palin endorsed her and her prospects suddenly changed. And last night she won the GOP primary with 41% of the vote and a 10,000 vote margin:

A state senator who had been stuck for weeks in third place in polls has won the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat from Nebraska, continuing a pattern of challengers successfully taking on prominent Republicans in party primaries.

State Sen. Deb Fischer capped a remarkable surge by capturing the Senate nomination on Tuesday. She will face Democrat Bob Kerrey, a former Nebraska senator and governor, in the November election.

I guess the “Sarah Palin is irrelevant” narrative is going to be a tough play on MSNBC today.

2. Item: Broken nose, broken narrative

That’s the title of this post at Legal Insurrection linking to the ABC report revealing that George Zimmerman had a broken nose, black eyes etc etc etc according to the medical report:

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Jacobson being a lawyer, he of course notes that this doesn’t PROVE that he didn’t act unlawfully but I seem to recall that the standard of a trial works under something called “innocent till proven guilty”

And if William Jacobson scored the touchdown then Tom McGuire kicks the extra point via this WFTV9 report that Trayvon Martin had “injuries on his knuckles according to his autopsy despite what the mortician had said:

Richard Kurtz, a black (IIRC) mortician who serves the black community, had the good sense to see nothing unusual about Martin when he prepared him for the funeral. Anyone who took that seriously is surprised by the current report. Since you ask, I expressed reservations about the mortician at the end of this old post.

Now considering the New Black Panthers involvement and the pressure from Sharpton etc I can see this guy Kurtz buckling under fear for his life or business but what is the excuse of Joe Scarborough who pushed the “We all know what’s going on” business or MSNBC’s Trayvon Martin outrage and Al Sharpton race baiting all over the place?

Worse of all there is NO WAY smiling Angela Corey the special prosecutor didn’t know this info from the autopsy, yet she charged 2nd degree murder anyway! This explains why she didn’t dare go to a grand jury. With this evidence they would have been more likely to indict a ham sandwich than George Zimmerman. All this person did was empower a lot of people who make their living on racial hate. In my opinion this woman should be disbarred and she and the state sued.

3. Item: Who loves Rush? Women love Rush!

Remember the boycott that the #stoprush crowd pushed by Media Matters, NOW and the MSM that was pushed over the “Slut” comment concerning activist Sandra Fluke? Well maybe the boycott has fizzled but the idea that Rush is “anti-woman” card kept being played by the left.

While Morning Joe & MSNBC kept suggesting GOP members should denounce Rush, Limbaugh fresh off of amassing 100k+ Twitter followers in 24 hours is back for another round forming a group called Rush Babes for America on facebook.

Te numbers it has produced has not been friendly to the MSM asLimbaugh reports:

Our Rush Babes for America Facebook page has over 62,000 female friends, almost two-and-a-half times the total membership at the NOW gang Facebook page

Do you mean to say that in less than ten days a Rush Limbaugh woman’s group is twice as popular as NOW, no newcomer to facebook? I wonder how Media Matters, NOW and MSNBC will spin that?

Exit question: Exactly how many memes that simply aren’t true can be pushed by the MSNBC crowd before they change direction?

Morning Joe didn’t find these topics newsworthy but others are trying to spin for them:

This is stupid. If the Republican establishment loses to a candidate backed by both Sarah Palin and Herman Cain, of course the Tea Party wins. What else could explain it?

He is referring to a story at The Hill, he has much more respect for Sarah Palin’s statement and Hot Air notes the polling in the general is looking good:

Aaron Blake at the Washington Post reports that Fischer already has a ten-point lead in polling over Kerrey

But…But Palin is supposed to be toxic in a general election.

I’m having too much fun with this.
