Anyone who has read this blog as our 10th anniversary knows that until the announcement of the new Doctor I was a fanatical Doctor Who fan.

I watched the show, I watched the reruns. I watched the old episodes both alone and with my sons, I enjoyed the big finish audios and invested heavily in all of these things.

I now don’t bother. I’ve watched the odd rerun on Amazon but I just don’t care anymore. I actually have big finish audios that I ordered before the new woke doctor was announced and I haven’t listened to them or opened them. In fact there was a four disk 8th doctor adventure featuring Alex Kingston as River Song that I was in the middle of, but it’s as if a switch was turned off. I just didn’t care anymore. I haven’t even charged my iPod anymore which contains 9 months worth of doctor who, that is, if you listened to it every day for 8 hours it would take you 9 months to hear them all. I used to listen to them every single day.

Now as I said, I just don’t care, particularly now that what I’ve already predicted has come true that THIS Doctor isn’t going to have the eccentricities of previous doctors. After all this Doctor is a Woman so there can’t be any reason to laugh at, or mock or tease the character.

I have predicted that this show is going to be a ratings train wreck, it will do good for one or two episodes out of curiosity but as the show continues to be about the SJW agenda and not science fiction, viewers whose primary desire is not to be preached to will fade away. I suspect we’ll reach the point where longtime fans long for the glory days of Colin Baker. Merchandising will fade and the show will go from a British institution to be yet another niche show for the feminist/gay agenda who will, in my opinion be the only ones left.

I’ve also predicted that despite this the media will rave over it and the BBC, Baring Jodi Whitaker coming up with a credible excuse “forcing” her to drop the part will retain this Doctor for a 2nd season despite this because it’s unthinkable that the 1st woman doctor like the 1st black president be shown as a failure. (I also think that replacing Whitaker won’t be enough but that’s another post). I think the show will end up dying a slow and painful death.

But the real question for me is this: How do I judge if these predictions are correct if I don’t watch the show?

And if I watch and review the shows as I’ve done to all the others how will the fact that I don’t care about the show change my perspective?

Bottom Line Doctor Who’s Premieres Soon and for the First Time Ever I Don’t Care so Do I Watch & Review? It’s up to You

If I get 10 comments to this post requesting I watch and review then for the sake of those 10 I’ll watch the premiere and review it. If I get 10 such comments on that review then I’ll keep reviewing the now shrunk 10 show series (funny how they shrunk the number of episodes and added extra companions, almost as if they wanted to cut the Doctor’s air time as much as possible isn’t it?)er .

It’s your call.

No matter how “woke” you think you are, you are tolerating things right now that will make you cringe in 25 years. – Bill Maher

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. – inigo Montoya, “The Princess Bride”

While I disagree with some of the specific examples Bill Maher cited in the linked video above, I agree with his two main points. The first is that it is silly to judge people or actions out of the context of their time, and the second is that years from now we will be appalled at the things that are being done in our society today. I shudder to think that twenty-five years from now our society could possibly be more “woke” than it is today, mostly because I have to believe that we have reached peak silliness in the perceived intersectional injustices that are supposedly perpetrated by us normal Americans. When Starbucks can be accused of being racist simply because a store manager did not want to allow non-paying non-customers to squat in a store, thus keeping paying customers from using the space, then you know that the Left has truly crossed the Rubicon of Wokeness, and no one is safe.

Of course, the biggest problem is that real damage is being done right now, not only to our society, but to individuals who are caught up in all this intersectionality and wokeness.

When my son was going to college a few years ago, he filled out a survey and his college provided him with several other incoming freshmen to contact to see if they might be suitable roommates. He contacted one individual, but upon learning that this student was militantly homosexual, sexually active and expected his roommate to be OK with this, my son politely declined to room with this individual and selected another roommate. I wonder how long it will be until some student like my son is brought up on charges by the school for being “intolerant” of such a potential roommate – even though my son would have chosen not to room with a sexually active heterosexual as well – and perhaps being forced to live in this situation as a way to “expand his views” or some other such “woke” nonsense.

We are in the process of visiting schools with my daughter, and encountered a surprising trend among several “elite” colleges that we’ve visited. Gone are the days when dorms were segregated by male and female floors, or even wings, and the idea of male and female bathrooms has gone the way of the dodo. At several of these schools, males and females share the bathroom, including shower facilities. Apparently the showers are individual locked stalls, but that still means that my freshman daughter could step out of the shower in her robe, and be faced with a male senior who may only be wrapped in a towel shaving at the sink next to her. Now, given the #MeToo environment we are currently living in, I am fairly confident that any male in such a situation would be scrupulously careful not to give his female neighbors any pretext by which to accuse him of harassment, but that doesn’t really make the situation a good one. And if it were my son in this situation, I would tell him to shower at 2am and make sure there were no women in the bathroom to avoid just such a possibility. How is that possibly a good environment for either sex?

The only possible “solution” to this quandary at any of the non-Catholic schools we visited was the traditionally all-female dorm at one school. Of course, given the times we’re in, this has now been expanded to the all-female-and-gender-non-binary dorm. This means that my daughter could be sharing the bathroom with a man who claims to be a woman. I wonder if such a person would be nearly as scrupulous as the male in the co-ed bathroom about covering himself in the presence of my daughter. After all, if he’s a “woman” what’s the big deal? And I’m sure that my daughter – or your daughter – would be the one brought up on disciplinary charges for complaining about the situation.

It is my sincere hope that, when we look back on these times twenty-five years hence, our society is in a place where “wokeness” is the what-were-you-thinking absurdity. It has to be, because if it’s not, then that means that we’ve gone even further ‘round the bend and I can’t even imagine what that might be like.

Eric Reed late of the San Francisco 49ers is outraged at the idea that actions have consequences:

“The notion that I can be a great signing for your team for cheap, not because of my skill set but because I’ve protested systemic oppression, is ludicrous,” Reid tweeted Thursday. “If you think is [sic], then your mindset is part of the problem too.”

But not as outraged as the press:

Teams don’t have that excuse to lean on when it comes to Kaepernick’s friend and former teammate, safety Eric Reid, whose market has been quiet since free agency began this week.

Reid, a former first-round pick, has played in four different defensive schemes in San Francisco. He’s played free safety and strong safety. And last year when the 49ers were having depth issues at the position, he even played some inside linebacker.

In Fact Max Engel is very angry at you Dallas fans in particular

You can blame Jerry Jones for everything up to and including the direction of the sunrise, but this type of decision is based on the fans.

And the fans don’t like them kneelers. How pathetic.

Yeah how DARE you fans actually object to what we on the left embrace and even worse how dare the owners, seeing how these protesters turned the NFL into one of the most polarizing brands in the nation as opposed to one of the most popular, choose not to bring them into their clubhouse!

Funny thing not all that long ago Reid didn’t consider the possibility of not being signed a big deal.

“I wouldn’t use the word concerned,” Reid said then. “I would say I understand that’s a possibility. And I’m completely fine with it. The things that I’ve done, I stand by, and I’ve done that for my own personal beliefs. Like I said, I’m fine with whatever outcome happens because of that.”

He was fine with it until the possibility became reality, now he considers himself a victim. After all being signed by the NFL is a right not a privilege and hell hath no fury as a SJW denied what he considers his.

As Glenn Reynolds said, “get woke go broke.” Reid has made this choice, and the media won’t rest until the NFL owners do the same.
