By John Ruberry

The day after one of the biggest October surprises in presidential politics ever, Hillary Clinton called on FBI director James Comey to release, to use the phrase in his statement to his underlings, his discovery of emails that “appear to be pertinent to our investigation.”

That investigation is centered around Clinton’s selfish and reckless decision to used a home-brewed email server while she was Barack Obama’s Secretary of State, rather than a secure government server.

Over 33,000 emails, which Clinton ludicrously claimed to have been about personal matters such as yoga and her daughter’s wedding, were wiped clean from her server last year–the firm that did the work even bragged about it–after Congress subpoenaed them.

Despite the destruction of evidence, many of those emails were recovered and we learned that some of them were marked classified. In July, Comey said that Clinton and her staffers were “extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”

Clinton lied.

Of course Clinton could have released those emails to Congress when it asked for them. Possibly within that cache could have been those emails found on the laptop shared by her longtime aide, Huma Abedin, and her estranged husband, sexting fiend Anthony Weiner. That laptop was seized by the FBI in an unrelated investigation of Carlos Danger for inappropriate online contact with an underage teen. Abedin swore under oath that she surrendered all documents with State Department emails to the FBI.

Abedin lied too.

John "Lee" Ruberry of the Magnificent Seven
John “Lee” Ruberry of the Magnificent Seven

So Hillary wants the FBI to immediately release, or at least before Election Day, those “pertinent emails.”

Clinton had her chance, but she chose, to use the term utilized by her protectors in the mainstream media, to yield to her “penchant for secrecy.”

Because what Hillary really has is a penchant for corruption.

The sad part of this story is that about half of American voters will still vote for Hillary Clinton–no matter what.

I asked for an Explanation for Huma & the Silence of the Muslims on her situation.

And Godfather Politics gives an answer:

I believe the answer can be found in a Muslim word ‘Muruna’. There are times when Muslim leadership believe it is more important to plant a spy to gain valuable information than it is for that spy to follow all Muslim law. It is not uncommon for Muslim leadership to push a woman into a relationship with a non-Muslim in order to gain the confidence and trust of an infidel. Once that trust has been gained, the Muslim woman can begin to exert some influence into the dealings of her husband and in the process learn important secrets that she can pass on to her Muslim handlers back home.

I believe Huma Abedin is a Muruna and that her marriage to the Rep. Anthony Weiner was planned and sanctioned by the Muslim Brotherhood. At the time, Weiner had high expectations of furthering his political career, possibly a run for senate seat once held by Hillary Clinton or even higher. Having a husband in the US Congress would be a great asset to the Muslim Brotherhood.

and the Western Center for Journalism give the list of moves

Arif Alikhan – Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
-Mohammed Elibiary – Homeland Security Adviser
-Rashad Hussain – Special Envoy to the (OIC) Organization of the Islamic Conference
-Salam al-Marayati – Obama Adviser – founder Muslim Public Affairs Council and its current executive director
-Imam Mohamed Magid – Obama’s Sharia Czar – Islamic Society of North America
-Eboo Patel – Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships

Some of these radical Muslim sympathizers go back to the first month of BHO’s first administration.

I think this is a reasonable explanation. If anyone has a better one I’d be delighted to hear it

Happy to have the Huma Explanation but if you really want to bring happiness to the blog, help in pushing making this week’s paycheck will really do it.

.

An interesting story is being told in NY Mag today:

the Clinton loyalists’ official involvement in the Weiner campaign is unclear — but it seems they’ve had a hand in all of the major milestones leading to Weinergate 2.0.

Ah so the Clinton folks were working to push Weiner, perhaps having an ally in NY City for 2016 was the plan after all.

Philippe Reines, Hillary Clinton’s longtime spokesman, has been particularly involved in Weiner’s mayoral bid. He traveled from Washington to the Weiner’s New York apartment last summer to sit in on their interview with People magazine. Abedin called Reines just before she spoke to reporters at a press conference last week, then he reportedly called Hillary “to make sure she knew was about to unfold.”

But the story is these people aren’t there to push the Anthony Weiner campaign, they are there to push the Huma Abedin campaign.

In addition to Mr. Reines, other longtime Clinton loyalists, including Maggie Williams, who managed Mrs. Clinton’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid, Cheryl Mills, who was Mrs. Clinton’s chief of staff at the State Department, and Mr. Clinton’s longtime aide Doug Band, have all reached out to Ms. Abedin to offer support and guidance, according to several people close to the Clintons. Ms. Abedin, now 37, is something of a little sister to the group, having started working in the Clinton White House at the age of 19.

Little sister? These high profile Clinton people are all getting involved because they consider her a little sister?

NY Mag & Margaret Hartman again:

Even if Team Clinton officially wants nothing to do with Weiner, and finds the “stand by your man” Hillary comparisons awkward, they are willing to let it be know that they won’t abandon Abedin.

Abandon Huma? Let me remind you of what I wrote two days ago:

In 1996 Bill Clinton was president and people were already talking about a political future for Hillary. Working with her must have been on of the most coveted positions for a young woman in the democrat party. Certainly there must have been plenty of sons and daughters of pols, campaign workers and democrat fundraisers who would have died for the chance to be in that position.

Yet Huma Abadin a young lady still in college who has spent a lifetime in Saudi Arabia not only gets the job, but has stayed with Hillary Clinton her entire life since.

Remind me, who is the one with the power, with the juice? Who is the one with the backers that people want to associate with?

I think people are completely missing the story here. I am rapidly becoming of the opinion that Anthony Weiner is totally incidental to this campaign, the real story is Huma and the goal to protect her in any why possible while advancing her future in any way the Clintons can.

The question from the 31st remains: Why?

There has been a little bit of movement I’m now under $200 from that full paycheck.

You can narrow that gap further by hitting DaTipJar below.

The Barbara Morgan story is fun on a whole lot of levels, particularly for the right. The cat-fight motif, the profanity all with the background of the Weiner case drives people toward it like a bear to honey. But hidden inside of it this something that is not only key, but explains an awful lot about the Weiner run:

many of the interns were hoping to get close to Huma Abedin, who could push Hillary Clinton to run for president

The importance of this line simply can’t be overstated.

Now it’s true that the base story from the NY Daily News it was the paper’s cover story:

And there are seemingly a bunch of links to that base story:

Weiner 2

But none of the links emphasized the actual big story. The idea that people even young women who know he is kinda creepy are willing to associate themselves with Weiner if it means pleasing Huma.

Don’t be so surprised, while it’s been suggested that people want to please Hillary or get close to Hillary by pleasing Huma tell me what was Hillary Clinton’s excuse?

Consider. Huma Abadin is 37 years old (born in 1976) From age 2 till age 18 she lived in Saudi Arabia that takes us to 1994 when she entered George Washington University, within two years while still in college she was hired as an intern by Hillary Clinton.

Run that through your head

I can see why for a Clinton 2016 campaign Huma Abadin in the Mayor’s office with her husband would be a plus to counter any possible Andrew Cuomo and why Clinton supports might back Weiner on those grounds but the more I look at the relationship between the 65-year-old Hillary Clinton and the 37-year-old Huma Abadin and the questions that simply don’t make sense, I must conclude there is clearly one of them that if you are 18 you might want to hitch your longterm wagon to.

I submit and suggest it’s the same person that Hillary Clinton decided to hitch her wagon to nearly twenty years ago.

The question remains why?

Remember those sweet, warm New England summers? Remember sipping lemonade underneath a shady tree? Remember when you hit that pedestrian with your car at the crosswalk and then just drove away? Pepperidge Farm remembers, but Pepperidge Farm ain’t just gonna keep it to Pepperidge Farm’s self free of charge. Maybe you go out and buy yourself some of these distinctive Milano cookies, maybe this whole thing disappears.

Family Guy Hell Comes to Quahog 2006

Pepperidge farm isn’t the only one who remembers, Byron York does too.

Mrs. Clinton was a key player in her husband’s defense on both occasions, and today she is close with Abedin, her long-time aide. So why shouldn’t Abedin try to emulate her mentor’s success?

Because it won’t work. Abedin can’t follow Volume I of the Clinton playbook because Weiner can’t deny everything, as Clinton did — falsely but successfully — in ’92. And she can’t follow Volume II because Weiner is not president of the United States.

For one thing Clinton had plenty of help

Stephanopoulos was dumbfounded. “[Clinton] lied,” the campaign aide later recounted thinking. “How come he let me hang out there? Never a word … while I swore to reporters her story was false.” But Clinton kept denying everything. And so did the loyal Stephanopoulos, claiming the tape was fake, or doctored or something. A mostly sympathetic press accepted the story, and Clinton survived.

Even if Anthony Weiner could lie as well as Bill Clinton, which he can’t, and even if he had an aide who could lie as well as George Stephanpoulos, which he doesn’t — even if all that were the case, Volume I of the Clinton playbook would still not be an option for Weiner. The proof of his sexting escapades is just too overwhelming.

Byron does forget the “Deny” card was in fact used by Weiner for a full week back in 2011 and many in the media went along with it. I’ll bet Pepperidge Farm would remember “Help us Help you

And that doesn’t even include Media Matters or Morning Joe

Weiner even spent $45k to give that card verisimilitude. but the tech trail was too solid particularly in an age of crowd sourcing.

As for card two, when years later with a new scandal and Ken Starr unwilling to roll over the playbook changed:

There were Republicans and Democrats who, early in the scandal, assumed Clinton would have to resign. But he survived through the sheer power of the presidency. He used (and in some cases invented) White House privileges to thwart Starr. After an initial panic, Democrats on Capitol Hill came to see the scandal as a life-or-death matter and rallied around the president.

For Democrats highly invested in the GOP “war on women” meme there is no gain in Anthony Weiner’s success.

This is why many of those same democrats who stood behind Al Gore as he praised Clinton after impeachment are now going after Weiner.

Of course the Clinton scandals didn’t take place during the age of cell phones, Youtube and Twitter, nor was the idea of being known as the sexting paramour of a pol considered an attractive proposition as it apparently is now. If that was true this might have ended differently.

However Weiner & Huma are following one card of the Clinton Playbook that Byron doesn’t bring up. A Narcissistic concern only for themselves.

Bill Clinton rightly figured there was no percentage in resigning and forever being the first democrat to resign the presidency. He understood what a post resignation presidency would be and it wouldn’t be anything like it is today and that doesn’t even count Hilary. His wife would forever be tagged as not the woman who stood by him but his accomplice in deceiving the public at the start. the first lady who did so and it would have made her own ambitions much harder to achieve.

So they went all in vs Starr and with the media’s help managed to win.

Weiner & Huma are using the same calculus.

Weiner and Huma are staying in the race because they understand there is no advantage to leaving. If he pulls out he is the guy whose comeback failed and is done and Huma’s future is compromised by her defense of him. If he stays there is a chance, a tiny one, but a chance that he makes the cut to the next round.

If he does he can credit Huma’s public defense of him and if he fails it can be dismissed as just not enough to save the day. As for the critiques of her while right now women are hitting Huma for backing him some were hitting Hillary too. That will pass but Huma’s connections and the funding they can provide will not.

That’s why although many in the media world are hitting her, nobody in the political world is.

Bottom line while Weiner can’t play Clinton’s hand his best card is to stay put because it plays to the same motivation that Bill Clinton did.

Narcissism.

Update: Nolte

Monday, a local political reporter admitted that everyone in San Diego knew what Democrat Mayor Bob Filner had been up to, but that they didn’t bother to do anything about it.

And now, after dozens of reporters from major news outlets swarmed Weiner for weeks, not a single outlet — not Politico, not BuzzFeed, not the New York Times — has audio or even a quote they can shove in Anthony Weiner’s face of him responding to a question about when the sexting stopped.

Because. No. One. Bothered. To. Ask.

Update 2: Talk about the tweet heard round the world:

Today on DaTechGuy on DaRadio We’re going to talk the latest Anthony Weiner scandal business but not focusing so much on Anthony but focusing on his wife Huma.

We’re going to talk about the strange silence of the Muslim world, from My piece here we’re going to bring up Dave Weigel’s question about just why does everybody say how wonderful she is here

Are we praising her because she didn’t run over a paparazzo or pull a Britney Spears and attack one of them with a golf club? For some reason—maybe it’s the “wrinkle-free suit”—Abedin gets extraordinary praise for doing the most ordinary of things.

Standing by your husband when he keeps disappointing you is, sadly, an ordinary thing. Making connections in D.C. and then cashing in on them is also pretty ordinary. The single most irritating aspect of the Weiner scandal is that we’re being asked to buy tickets for this third-rate psychodrama. The Weiner-Abedin marriage is to the Clinton marriage as Sharknado is to Jaws.

And Stacy McCain’s Spectator piece here:

only a Democrat could expect to survive after being caught twice. And only a Democrat could, after such a humiliating revelation, hold a press conference and say that his plan was to “move forward,” bringing along the wife he had so deliberately betrayed, expecting her to stand beside him and avow her continued devotion to him.

and his tweet of my own, one of several I’ve put out along these lines in the last 24 hours:

In hour 2 we bring on John LaRosa:

We’ll talk a bit a bout Ted Cruz & Steve King and their willingness to take on the left head on and the costs of being silent Sarah Palin discussed. and how his example can relate to other GOP candidates such as Tim Imholt in Ma-3 & Bill Ryan in NH.

Juliet: O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet.

4th Doctor: You know something? I’m sure those creatures don’t stay on their side of the boundary out of a sense of fair play

Doctor Who: The Face of Evil Pt 1 1977

Yesterday I posted some questions about the funding of Anthony Weiner, It’s possible that some might have considered that post rather provocative.

If you are such a person you might want to stop reading right now because this one touches on a REALLY delicate matter:

Yesterday morning I got into a long twitter discussion with a person who goes by the name woman by the name Maxine Baptiste known as BrownSugar7878. She took exception to this tweet concerning Mr. Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin reaction to the latest twist to the scandal

Now that’s an incredibly provocative statement and I had a long twitter exchange with MS Baptiste where I explained why I thought this could be the case while she called me a racist used a tag that I’m not familiar with that I won’t repeat here.

But here is where I’m coming from.

One of the most amazing stories about Anthony Weiner is his marriage to Huma Abideen. They met in 2008 got engaged in 2009 and the very next year were married.

Now it’s not all that unusual for a much younger woman to marry an older man who has power and involved in politics. As a person who has spent her adult life under Hillary Clinton’s wing Ms Abideen might certainly see the advantage of a marriage to an up and coming pol while she as a friend of Ms. Clinton would certainly be a good power match for Anthony Weiner.

But before the political calculation, think of who she is and who her parents are.

Her mother is Saleha Mahmood Abedin she is one of the founding members of the women’s version of the Muslim Brotherhood her father was an Islamic scholar and according to Wikipedia moved with her to Saudi Arabia when she was two years old and didn’t return until she entered college. Shortly afterward leaving college she attached herself to Hillary Clinton and never left.

By an odd coincidence Hillary Clinton was the most pro-Muslim brotherhood secretary of state in my lifetime. As Andrew McCarthy wrote a year ago this month:

Nevertheless, since Secretary Clinton’s tenure began, with Huma Abedin serving as a top adviser, the United States has aligned itself with the Muslim Brotherhood in myriad ways. To name just a few (the list is by no means exhaustive): Our government reversed the policy against formal contacts with the Brotherhood; funded Hamas; continued funding Egypt even after the Brotherhood won the elections; dropped an investigation of Brotherhood organizations in the U.S. that were previously identified as co-conspirators in the case of the Holy Land Foundation financing Hamas; hosted Brotherhood delegations in the United States; issued a visa to a member of the Islamic Group (a designated terrorist organization) and hosted him in Washington because he is part of the Brotherhood’s parliamentary coalition in Egypt; announced that Israel should go back to its indefensible 1967 borders; excluded Israel, the world’s leading target of terrorism, from a counterterrorism forum in which the State Department sought to “partner” with Islamist governments that do not regard attacks on Israel as terrorism; and pressured Egypt’s pro-American military government to surrender power to the anti-American Muslim Brotherhood parliament and president just elected by Egypt’s predominantly anti-American population.

So you have a woman who is the top adviser of the most Muslim Brotherhood friendly Secretary of State in the country’s history. A woman who was raised in Saudi Arabia, till college by two Islamic Scholar parents, one of whom is a founder member of the woman’s version of the Muslim Brotherhood.

So naturally she marries a prominent Jew, and not just a Prominent Jew but a prominent Jew known for his strong pro-israel positions.

Excuse me?

I like Shakespeare as much as the next man, and I really enjoyed Romeo and Juliet but the Capulets and the Montagues are bosom buddies compared to the Muslims and Jews.

Now I will grant you that in one direction the prejudice is less pronounced for a Jew marrying a Muslim woman and Huma Abideen would turn any man’s head (in fact it’s my opinion that not counting Italy, Arabia & Persia produce the most beautiful women in the world) so I certainly wouldn’t be surprised at Mr. Weiner’s pursuit of this woman a dozen years his junior Muslim or no.

But Huma marrying Anthony Weiner? The daughter of a founder of the Muslim Brotherhood woman’s auxiliary marries a Jew in a high-profile wedding and nobody finds this even a little odd?

Now as a Christian and an American I of course, don’t see an issue with this marriage. Maybe love has trumped religion for her too, Maybe Huma is head over heels in love with Anthony Weiner and that’s all there is to it, you can never tell.

And as for her sticking with him, and as an old married man trying to make a living on $305 a week from my readers I’m constantly amazed that my wife has been married to me for 25 years and is sill here. Anyone who has seen her and me together likely are just as amazed. Of course we’re Catholic and thus believe that Marriage is a sacrament. Maybe Huma while not Catholic considered marriage just as sacred and has decided to stick with him for better or for worse. Or maybe she as Mrs. Clinton’s aide for nearly 20 years saw that standing by your man can lead to a senate seat and a cabinet post.

But this still doesn’t answer one other question, what about the reaction back home? What about her family, her extended family, in the Arab world?

After all we know associating with Jews at all is likely to get a Muslim killed or disowned by their family so where is the reaction when a daughter of two prominent Muslim Scholars marries a Jew who is publicly extremely pro-Israel? What are we hearing from those same Muslims who objected to Pokemon because they thought it was a Jewish conspiracy?

Silence!

Walid Shoebat asks the obvious question:

Huma’s links to a family that is directly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, including her brother and mother, creates a question that no one on earth can easily answer:

Other than Huma Abedin, has there ever been any member of the Muslim Brotherhood or a prominent Islamist who will not openly denounce a “daughter” or “sister” that married a non-Muslim Jewish male?

It is extremely rare to have Muslim women marry non-Muslims, much less to have conservative Muslims look the other way, unless Huma has a “higher calling”

Now in fairness there have been signs that Congressman Weiner’s support of Israel is not all people think it might be. (Weiner doesn’t really care that much about Israel.) but unless he has converted to Islam and not told anybody or something the same folks who were quick to put a Fatwa on Molly Norris over a drawing are not likely to keep their mouths shut on this.

And we aren’t just talking silence at the time of the wedding. What about with the scandal? This sentence is absolutely true

Huma Abideen, a Muslim woman, a daughter of prominent Muslim scholars was publicly humiliated on a world-wide stage by a Jewish man acting in vulgar sexual ways.

and STILL there is no reaction. Not from Saudi Arabia, not from Iran and not from the Muslim Brotherhood that just a few weeks ago trying to discreet the intern president of Egypt referred to him a Jew.

Is there nobody else who finds this as unbelievable as I do?

If Islamists were silent at Huma Abideen wedding to Anthony Weiner, were silent as he humiliated this high-profile Muslim woman and remain silent today as he humiliates her again, one must conclude that these suddenly quiet and calm Islamists figure their investment in this silence will pay quite a return.

I wonder what it might be?

Update: Andrew McCarthy doesn’t

Update 2:  Funny the NY Times report some women have the same kind of questions about Huma Abideen’s loyalty to her husband.
