Despite the attack in New York City an important new analysis demonstrates that the terrorists’ effectiveness has been seriously affected in the past year and is likely to continue to fade as a significant threat.

That doesn’t mean that the world can be less vigilant, but it does mean that once again the media can create a meme to downplay a major U.S. victory.

The well-regarded Terrorism Analysis & Research Consortium, better known as TRAC, released an analysis of IS attacks, which shows that the organization has been far less effective in recent months.

TRAC reported: “IS’s highlighting of terror attacks against civilians in Western Europe–and the mainstream media’s obsession with those attacks–serves to obscure important aspects of Islamic State strategy. While more than 200 claimed attacks in just over 100 days appears impressive to IS supporters and terrifying to the world at large, a closer look at the claims in their entirety reveals as much about Islamic State’s limitations as its aspirations.” For more information, see https://www.trackingterrorism.org/article/considering-claimed-attacks-islamic-states-hidden-narrative/introduction-summer-2017-executi

Here are some of the important findings:

• The projection of increasing global reach is inaccurate. Just three countries accounted for 175 of 222 attacks (nearly 80 percent) during last summer: Philippines (99 claims), Afghanistan (43 claims), and Egypt (33 claims). TRAC contends that these places, which receive scant Western attention, represent the narrative of IS future territory.

• To narrow the gap even further, of the three countries that hold 80 percent of the claims, just three areas in those countries accounted for 115 of 222 attacks in the summer (more than 50 percent): Marawi city in Philippines’ Autonomous Region of Muslim Majority or ARMM (67), Nangarhar province in Afghanistan (26), and Egypt’s Upper Sinai (22).

• During the summer, IS could not claim repeat attacks in 10 countries that had been attacked in 2015 and 2016. Bangladesh went from six claims in 2016 to zero in 2017. Saudi Arabia had three in 2015 and no subsequent summer repeats. Germany had just two total claims, coming in summer 2016. The inability to repeat attacks in the same location summer after summer highlights the Islamic State’s lack of sustainability.

• For last summer, the United Kingdom topped the newcomer’s list with three high-profile attacks. These three attacks received massive international attention, especially in the Western media.

• Out of the 32 total countries attacked during the past three years, only four countries—France, Libya, Yemen, and Egypt—were attacked three summers in a row. Even with the recent spate of claims in the U.K., France has been, by far the country hardest hit by IS in Europe.

Simply put, IS has been unable to launch attacks outside the Middle East and the Philippines except in rare instances in Britain and France. The Philippines government recently cleared out an IS stronghold there.

The disruption of the IS financial and geographical power in the Middle East has had a profound effect. Moreover, the destruction of the command-and-control and propaganda centers of IS in Syria and Iraq will make it more difficult to entice followers to launch attacks outside of the Middle East.

Al-Qaeda saw its influence drop dramatically after the United States closed its operational headquarters in Afghanistan. That is what is likely to happen with IS.

Again, that doesn’t mean the West can ignore the Islamist threat, particularly after the recent attack in New York City. It does mean that a continuous and concerted offensive against extremists does work.

Details will continue to roll in and the numbers will change, but as of this writing, 50 people are reported dead in the worse mass shooting in American history, yes even worse than Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, and San Bernardino.

Here is what we know this morning: The shooter, who was killed about six hours ago by a SWAT team, was Omar Mir Seddique Mateen of Port St. Lucie, Florida. He entered an Orlando, Florida gay bar and shot dozens–in addition to the 50 murders, another 53 people have been wounded. Mateen, as US media outlets feel compelled to report, is a US citizen, but his parents were born in Afghanistan. Mateen was born in New York.

The killer was carrying a handgun and an AR-15 assault rifle. The FBI says that Mateen may have “leanings to radical Islamic terrorism.”

This human filth was a registered Democrat,

Mateen will certainly disrupt the liberal narrative that hate crimes are right-wing phenomenon and that domestic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. The last mass shooting in America, in case you forgot, was in San Bernardino, California, when a US born Muslim and his Pakistani wife killed 14 people at a holiday party seven months ago.

France was hit by two mass shootings last year–in both of those tragic incidents the perpetrators were Muslims. In the Charlie Hebdo attacks, the magazine’s repeated use of profane images of Muhammad was cited for reason for the murders. and in the much deadlier November Paris attacks, gunmen were heard shouting “Allahu akbar.”

The Islamic State terror group hailed the Orlando murders.

The Obama with Jammeh and one of his wives.
The Obamas with Jammeh

The world has a new Islamic republic. On Friday Gambia’s strongman president, Yahya Jammeh, declared the impoverished west African nation that is almost completely surrounded by Senegal, a Muslim state. Other such nations are Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Mauritania–none of which are well-known for freedom or prosperity.

Jammeh promises freedom of religion to the citizens of Africa’s smallest non-island nation.

Jeffrey Smith, a senior advocacy officer at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights told Al Jazeera that day, “Gambia is not a country of laws but is rather ruled by the whims of Yahya Jammeh.”

Jammeh seized control of Gambia in a bloodless coup in 1994 and while there have been elections since then, of course in the African tradition he has won each with resounding majorities.

What of those whims that Smith mentioned?

Jammeh detests gays. In speech given earlier this year the despot warned them, “If you do it [in Gambia] I will slit your throat,” adding, “if you are a man and want to marry another man in this country and we catch you, no one will ever set eyes on you again, and no white person can do anything about it.”

In 2007 Jammeh announced that he had developed an herbal cure for AIDS, sometimes he even administers his crackpot treatment to the afflicted.

Freedom of the press is limited in Gambia and the nutjob’s opponents often “disappear.”

Jammeh claimed in 2010–without citing evidence–that both the first Atlantic flight and the first Eastern European flight ended in Gambia.

Despite the dictator’s eccentricities and his terrible human rights record, President Obama welcomed Jammeh and one of his wives to the White House last year.

Is Jammeh Gambia’s answer to Idi Amin?

Arab American National Museum

When Muslims say they condemn the radicals within their faith, a common retort is, “If that is so, then why don’t you hold anti-terrorism marches?”

Well, one was held yesterday in Dearborn, Michigan, the city with the largest Arab-American population in the Untied States. The peace rally was organized by Imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Center, the cultural hub of the Detroit suburb’s Muslim community. Al-Husainy was an early supporter of Operation Iraqi Freedom, although he later turned against the war. The cleric gave an invocation at a Democratic National Committee event in 2006. Al-Husainy was was the featured cleric on The Learning Channel’s reality show All American Muslim. If you are seeking a mainstream Muslim leader, Al-Husainy may be your guy. Or he may not be. More on him in a little bit.

Watch the march video here. You’ll see that many of the parade’s participants were dressed all in black, which happens to be the get-up that members Islamic State wear. Oops. There was singing–or was it chanting?–in Arabic, not English. Many of the marchers held banners and flags in Arabic–and I counted just one lonely American flag. Of course there weren’t any Israeli flags.

In a statement prior to the march, Al-Husainy declared, “We are for peace, coexistence, respecting all religions, protecting human life and believing in God.” But does that include Jews? The Dearborn cleric is a signatory of the anti-Israeli Jerusalem Document that Christian convert Walid Shoebat, a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, calls “the ‘Mein Kampf’ of Document of Jerusalem.”

Muslims–in Dearborn and beyond–also need to forcefully speak out against the slaughter by ISIS of Christians and Yazidis. That message was also absent in the Dearborn rally.

Al-Husainy’s peace march was at best only a good first step for American Muslims to counter radical Islamic terrorism. And maybe not even that.

The Paris Terror Attacks—perpetrated by Muslims—seem to be short-sighted, from a strategic point of view—but Baldilocks minithey are not. Yes, I suppose it’s silly to talk about cogent strategy from persons subscribing to an ideology which has as one of its penultimate goals to die for its deity while taking non-believers along and who seem to be incapable of using any other “strategy,” but I’m not talking about them. I’m talking about the EU and people like German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Several of the European heads of government, the EU, and whoever else runs things on that continent seem intent on flooding every part of it with “refugees” from Islamic countries. Millions of them. And the normal, everyday citizens of these countries do not like it one bit–especially, citizens of this town. But what can keep those citizens from doing something like, say, overthrowing their governments or rounding up Muslims at the muzzle of a whole lot of guns? Being afraid of their new neighbors.

Can you sense where I’m going? I’ll get you to the destination quickly: the EU wants the immigrants to perform acts of terror and will continue to let them happen, the French president’s bravado notwithstanding. They know what these people—these Muslims–believe, know what some of them have been doing and know what they are thirsty to do again. And again. Why else would they allow hundreds of thousands of single young men from countries who view infidels as marks and women as booty (meant in both senses) to flood into the continent? And as we saw yesterday and long before, it doesn’t take a million; it only takes a few.

The European elites want the citizens cowed; in fear of being raped, shot, and/or blown up. Cowed citizens will do anything to keep the peace and are more compliant. So what, I hear you ask, do the elites want of the European citizen? To submit to protection; the protection of a One-World government…and One-World religion. And the only way that there will be peace under those circumstances is if that One-World religion is Islam.

Sounds crazy, does it not? Evil often looks like insanity.

Oh, and, speaking of “crazy,” don’t forget that President Obama wants up to 100,000 Syrian refugees per year to come to our shores.

Stop the HatredBy John Ruberry

The Nazis used the term “Judenfrei,” free of Jews or clean of Jews, when all of the Jewish residents were removed from a city or town, or even a whole country, as was the case with Estonia in 1942.

The Islamic State is working to create a new Middle East that is Christianfrei–free of Christians–in the region where the faith was founded in 33 AD, 500 years before the birth of Muhammad.

ISIS is enslaving and killing Christians in Iraq–and Christian and girls and women are being regularly raped, as is also the case in Syria. Libya has a miniscule Christian population, but that hasn’t prevented the Islamic State from killing Christians there–21 Egyptian Coptics were beheaded last month in a grisly execution videotaped by the terror group.

Egypt and Lebanon are the other Middle Eastern nations with sizable Christian populations. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the president of Egypt, responded to the murder of his citizens by bombing ISIS positions in Libya and although a Muslim, al-Sisi has been a harsh critic of radical Islam. As for Lebanon, a newspaper there claims that it will be the next target for the Islamic State.

While condemnations of ISIS atrocities are for the most part universal, there has been little uproar over the Islamic State’s effort to religiously cleanse the Middle East of the Christian faith, unlike the ethnic cleansing campaign by Serbia–which was eventually stopped–in Kosovo and Bosnia.

“Never again!” was the cry after the Holocaust. Seventy years after the liberation of Auschwitz, another Holocaust is well under way.
