I must say nothing amazes me more than this meme that we keep hearing after very single attack by an Islamist:

The CNN report itself — the written report, not the clip above — is another marvel, making the story about everything else but the terrorist attack. Paragraph after paragraph of quotes appear in the article about religion of peace, worries about backlash, members of the Somali community worried that their families may have been victimized, before it actually gets to the attacks. It barely mentions that Adan demanded to know the religion of his victims, noting only that he “made a reference to Allah” and “asked at least one person if they were Muslim.” That sounds rather … polite, no? Well, except for the whole attempted-mass-murder thing.

The big story here isn’t the “potential for backlash.” It’s the terrorist attack that nearly took nine or more lives in the sleepy community of St. Cloud. Maybe other outlets will focus on the real story.

The “concern about a backlash” meme is so often repeated that it’s rarely questioned by the left, but two words illustrate how idiotic it is:

Emmett Till

For those of you who don’t know your history Emmett Till was a 14 year old chicago boy who was lynched during a visit to Mississippi in 1955 for the horrible crime of supposedly flirting with a white woman which apparently upset the sensibilities of certain folks.

It’s worth noting that Emmett Till’s murder was not unique in the era of Jim Crow:

From 1882-1968, 4,743 lynchings occurred in the United States.  Of these people that were lynched 3,446 were black.  The blacks lynched accounted for 72.7% of the people lynched.

That works out to about 1 black man lynched every ten days during that period of time.

What does this have to do with Islamic Terror?  Think about it for a second.

Ask yourself how you would react to local police after a lynching during the days of Jim Crow stating:  “They were unclear on the motivations for the attack” and local and national newspapers gave credence to such a statement?

Ask yourself how you would react if after a lynching local and national media in unison said the primary thing to worry about would be a backlash against whites over lynchings of blacks?

Ask yourself how you would react if local and national media insisted that the Jim Crow culture had no bearing on the decision of groups of “lone wolfs” who lynched blacks or that any connection with the culture of Jim Crow to lynching was illegitimate?

Because when you claim that we are unsure of the motivations on Islamic Terror, when you go on about a potential backlash against Islam over terror attacks and you insist that the culture of Islam has nothing to do with the motivations of terrorists & that moderate Islam has no obligation to help the FBI weed out potential terrorists, you sound just like an apologist for Jim Crow circa 1930.

Closing thought as I’ve already said during Jim Crow you had one black man lynched every 10 days. As of this writing it has been 5488 days since Sept 11 2001 and in that time there have been 29,258 attacks by Islamic terrorists worldwide, an average of one attack every 4 1/2 HOURS a rate over 53 times the rate of lynching in the US during Jim Crow.

By John Ruberry

This year could end up being the most tumultuous year since 1968. During that year there was of course a heated presidential election, the Democrats nominated Vice President Hubert Humphrey, who represented the status quo, one that was not especially popular. The Republicans chose a former vice president, Richard Nixon, whose critics decried as someone who presented a dark vision of America. Sound familiar?Chicago Police SUV

Missing of course in 2016 is a third-party presidential candidate who can win electoral votes; in 1968 avowed segregationist and renegade Democrat George Wallace fed on racial discord–and there is plenty of that this year, most of it brought on by leftist groups such as Black Lives Matter, which seems very keen on protesting the rare shootings of African-American criminal suspects but is largely on silent on the daily carnage in cities such as Chicago, where so far this weekend over thirty people, most of them black, have been shot. In most of these shootings it’s very likely that other blacks pulled the trigger.

What is largely forgotten about the 1968 election is that it was the first presidential contest since Reconstruction in which a southern blacks voted in large numbers.

We’ve progressed far.

The penultimate year of the turbulent 1960s also brought us the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War, North Korea’s seizure of the USS Pueblo, the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King–the anger from the latter caused dozens of deadly riots in American cities–the May Insurrection in France, and the turmoil of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

John ruberry
John “Lee” Ruberry of the Magnificent Seven

I’m sure I overlooked something.

This year has seen several deadly Islamist terrorist attacks, including last month’s Orlando night club shooting and the Nice, France truck killings, two assassination tragedies–one in Dallas and the other in Louisiana–where multiple police officers were killed, “Brexit,” Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, the attempted coup in Turkey, and of course the frenzied US presidential campaign.

Remember: We still have five more months in 2016.

On the positive end, the Apollo 8 mission brought the moon within reach at the end of 1968.

Let’s hope 2016 ends with good news.

Oh, it was also in late 1968 when Star Trek’s “Plato’s Stepchildren” episode aired. Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura delivered American television’s first kiss between a black and a white, and this embrace was not an innocent peck on the cheek.

As Mitch Albom wrote in Tuesdays With Morrie, “Love wins. Always.”

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit. And yes, he was alive in 1968.

I was going to write about my progress with my second novel and my two books—one about Kenya. But this happened today in Istanbul.

A gun and suicide bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport has killed at least 28 people and injured up to 60.

Up to three attackers were involved, with one reportedly opening fire with a Kalashnikov as they targeted an entry point to the terminal.

Recent bombings in Turkey have been linked to either Kurdish separatists or the so-called Islamic State group.

This looks like a major, co-ordinated assault, the BBC’s Mark Lowen reports.

This morning, I read a piece on the killing of Mohamed Dulyadayn via U.S. air strike. Dulyadayn was the mastermind of the 2015 massacre at Garissa University in Kenya—a Christian university–where 148 students and professors were murdered. Dulyadayn was one of the leaders of al-Shabaab, the regional Islamic terror group.

This morning, just now and many times in the past, it has occurred to me that the West doesn’t pay that much attention to Islamic terror strikes when they occur in areas perceived to be Islamic, even though the body count is often much higher than in perceived non-Islamic areas—Paris and New York City notwithstanding.

As I’ve pointed out many times, Kenya is primarily a Christian nation, but because it is in Africa, where Islam had nearly free rein until the beginning of the European colonial era at the end of the 19th century and because Kenya has been at war with neighboring Somalia, terror attacks there seem common to the Western eye.

And, of course, Istanbul is the largest city in Islamic Turkey.

My observation is not a criticism. What it is intended to do is to point to something deeper: that we expect Muslims to murder people, even their co-religionists. So when they act up in a place where they are highly concentrated, it’s horrifying, but there isn’t as much outrage as when they shoot up a public benefits center in San Bernardino or a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Does that say something about us or about them?

Answer: yes.

RIP, Istanbul victims.

I’d like to say I was shocked at this story at real clear politics:

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

Or to rephrase it: We are going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

When I read this the first thing that came to mind was something I saw at the National Press Club last week.

On a big screen when you come in there is a statement concerning Donald Trump’s decision to remove the credentials from the Washington Post meaning that while they can cover his events they don’t have the access that other members of the press do.

It was presented with the self righteousness of a group that does not hint that they can still cover the events and report on them, only on Trump assault on free speech, or that there is a reason why the press is often described as “Democrats with bylines”.

Now while one can debate this move by the Trump campaign maybe it’s just me but I’d say the suppression of the record on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the United States homeland is something that the national press club might find objectionable.

So my question is this: Will the National Press Club put up a display objecting just as strongly to the censoring of the public record by this Administration on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US for all Americans as they will Donald Trump?

I suspect to ask the question is to answer it.

Of course, people are still talking about the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack. And many of the funerals are probably being conducted this weekend. And the government, after so miserably failing to protect Americans once again is contemplating at least two methods of stripping law-abiding Americans from two areas of protection mandated in the Bill of Rights.

After San Bernardino, I remember wondering when the next time a Muslim would shoot up/blow up another set of Americans. No great insight was necessary to predict that it would occur again and now it has. And there will be a next time.

And the ridiculous shifting of blame from Muslims onto Christians will happen again, as well. How high will that mountain of lies be by then?

Funny thing (not funny ha-ha)—I believe that the blaming of Christians for something that an enemy of Christians does is a meme set in motion by a finite and unnamed group of government actors—a tactic made easier by Social Media, especially Twitter. As a result, individual anti-theists—along with other haters of the Church–grab it and run with it. This finite group and its witting and unwitting lackeys couldn’t care less whether the connection between being against same-sex marriage and murdering homosexuals makes sense or not. And the lackeys hope that the government cracks down on Christians. Why? Because we disagree with them.

But what is the hope of the unnamed government group? This isn’t difficult to predict either.

Every mass shooting is an opportunity for this unnamed group to stir up the hue and cry to ban guns. Additionally, every mass shooting not involving blacks as perpetrator or victim is an opportunity to stir up hatred toward Christians. In the one recent case where the victims were black Christians–Charleston— the unnamed group had to pivot to the Confederate flag as the thing to be denounced.)

But guns are always the primary target—if you’ll pardon the pun. Always. Because guns in the hand of citizens is the last defense against what the unnamed government group wants; complete control of the American citizenry—all races, straights, gays, Christians, Jews, atheists, Hindus, Sikhs…

You’ll notice I left Muslims off the list. The unnamed group wants them to have guns and to conduct more terror. That’s proven by both the events in San Bernardino and in Orlando…and many other events I’m not inclined to look up at the moment. And the unnamed group wants other chaotic elements–think drug cartels–to keep their guns, too.

Should the banning of guns occur, these violent elements–and others like them–will run wild, causing the larger American populace to beg for government protection.

And we’ll get it. And it will be the worst thing that has ever happened in this country.

That’s the plan. But you already knew.

My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

Abe Lincoln

Yesterday I talked about the math that explains the Democrat Party’s decision to ignore the driver for the Orlando attack, that is Islamic Terror

The question then becomes: Why is the media treating this as a “too many guns issue”.

One might think the logical conclusion is the MSM is an extension of the Democrat party and reports news accordingly as explained by RS McCain noting another recent crime targeting gays that’s been underreported:

Do you think CNN or the New York Times will notice a crime like this? No, of course not, because the perpetrators are black and the lesbian who got assaulted is white, and therefore it’s strictly local news.
The same principle explains why, when a bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic kills 49 people in Orlando, it’s not a story about the danger posed by bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic. Instead it’s an excuse to lecture Americans about how much we hate gay people. The principle that determines how the media covers such stories is always the same: “How can we report this in a way that helps the Democrat Party?”

It is the last sentence of his argument that is most relevant and the proof of this comes via a Rasmussen poll linked by Ann Althouse

“Among voters who consider the mass murders in Orlando, Florida this past weekend primarily a terrorist attack, Trump leads Clinton 64% to 16%.”
“Clinton posts an 83% to four percent (4%) lead among those who see the killings as chiefly a gun control issue….”

If these numbers are correct then for the MSM to be successful in their attempt to aid and abet a Democrat victory in the fall it not only becomes necessary for the MSM to make the Jihadist attack by a registered gay democrat a gun control issue but it becomes vital that any indication that this was indeed a terror strike against America in general and the gay community in particular be quashed.

Remember the paramount object for the media is to elect democrat and not to report on islamic terror or anti-gay violence.  If they could elect democrats by reporting on islamic terror & anti-gay violence, they would do so.  If they can election democrats by ignoring anti-gay violence and islamic terror they will do that, an if they can elect democrats by reporting on some anti-gay violence and islamic terror attacks while ignoring others they will do that too.

Just after the Islamic Terror attack on the gay nightclub Pulse, Facebook, you know those guys who insist they are not censoring conservatives, decided to take strong action…against one of the most prominent opponents and a onetime target of Islamic terror Pam Geller

When Breitbart News and Geller objected they followed up by suspending Geller herself.

Just hours after they removed her 50,000-strong group, “Stop Islamization Of America,” Facebook has issued prominent Islam critic Pamela Geller with a 30-day ban.

Well apparently Facebook has discovered that such actions directed against a person targeted for assassination by Islamic Terrorists in response to her critique of the mass slaughter of Gays by an islamic terrorist not only tends to draw unfavorable press but really doesn’t play well with a large segment of the population.

You spoke — you wrote, emailed, called, and YOU succeeded in getting my page and my privileges back. THANK YOU and thank Breitbart for raising a ruckus. Communicating and sharing information is the key to building an army of Davids to defeat the enormous enemedia myths and lies. Each one of my readers is a one-man media organization educating those in your sphere of influence. This is a war on freedom of speech in the age of jihad and sharia. And Facebook is key.

Now this would be just another story about a company backing off after a bad decision but what really got my goat was this quote from Breitbart’s coverage of Facebook’s volte face of the email Facebook sent to Pam after the reinstatement of both groups.

“A member of our team accidentally removed something you posted on Facebook. This was a mistake, and we sincerely apologize for this error. We’re since restored the content and you should now be able to see it.”

I don’t know what bothers me more, the sheer mendacity of that statement or the insult to my intelligence required to expect me to believe it.

On the bright side it’s very nice of Facebook for doing their best to turn my decision not to join facebook into a positive virtue.

Closing question:

Mary Cooper: No, just focused on work and the church.
Alfred Hofstadter: Ah. And what do you do?
Mary Cooper: I work at the church.
Alfred Hofstadter: Well, they’re lucky to have you.
Mary Cooper: Well, thank you.
Alfred Hofstadter: You’re welcome.

Sheldon Cooper: Yeah, I do. They’re filling up on bread and ruining their meal.

The Big Bang Theory The Convergence Convergence 2016

I’ve been watching in disbelief as Barack Obama goes whole hog defending Islam on TV and watching CNN & the entire MSM not only highlighting those words and attacks on Donald Trump while being completely stunned that Mr. Trump is not backing down from his previous statements.

It’s as if the entire MSM has become Sheldon Cooper (without the genius) completely oblivious to what his happening in front of their faces.

Consider just yesterday the Media was all abuzz concerning Donald Trump’s words on the administration’s response to Islamic Terror.

And some like Jake Tapper were a bit shocked:

The gist is post Orlando Donald Trump suggests Barack Obama might not be all that down on defeating Radical Islam and gets the MSM to repeat that charge.

So how does the White House react? Do they ignore it and pursue the investigation of the terror attack? Does the president maintain a dignified silence while allowing surrogates in government to play the “have you no decency” card?

Nope, he respond in person and he doesn’t just respond in person he both defends Islam and defends not talking about radical Islam.

Yes you read that right. Less that 2 days after the most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US since 9/11 Donald Trump manages to get Barack Obama to defend Islam while the blood is still on the floor at Pulse.

But that’s not all, As soon as President Obama was done speaking MSM was covering his words, agreeing with his words, and contrasting his approach to the attacks in Orlando to Mr. Trump. They go all in spending the entire rest of the day repeating this again and again.

So let’s summarize:

After Islamic Terror attack Trump suggests Obama might be weak on Islamic terror

Obama responds by attacking Trump and defending Islam…two days after Islamic Terror attack.

Media repeats and amplifies Obama’s response defending Islam and repeating Trump’s attack. All of this Two days after an successful Islamic Terror attack.

The end result? Within a few days after the single most successful Islamic Terror attack since 9/11 by a man who Obama’s FBI decided was not a threat, Barack Obama is associated with Defending Islam from Trump, while Trump is associated with defending America from radical Islam.

Tuesday was Trump’s birthday, I don’t think the MSM or Barack Obama could have given him a better present.

Donald Trump has completely punked them, The country hasn’t seen such incompetence since the 1962 Mets. If Casey Stengel was a media guy he would be screaming: “Can’t anyone play this game?”

The answer to that question is apparently: Donald Trump.

Exit Question: How much would Donald Trump have paid to get such an image on CMM:

Donald Trump spoke today at St. Anselm college in Goffstown NH today, because it is Monday and I have my scheduled Eucharistic Adoration combined with the need to sleep I was not able to go there to cover Mr. Trump in person to ask Mr. Trump questions after his speech but watching the speech on CNN.

As a general rule a single speech isn’t a game changer, but this speech was because it articulated truths that are self evident, directly named the foe, Radical Islamic terror and called them out for what they are:

He talked about the fruits of denial from folks like Hillary I am not going to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion Clinton

“When it comes to radical islamic terror ignorance is not bliss, it’s deadly”

and said those days were over

“The days of deadly ignorance will end.”

Although in fairness “ignorance” is likely the wrong word, “denial” would to my mind be more accurate

The single biggest game change however in this speech was the acknowledgement that the Muslim community in the US has to make up its mind to work with law enforcement:

“The Muslims have to work with us, they know what’s going on”

That is the spike of the football, instead of putting the onus on Americans to play nice, the onus is put on Muslim Americans to decide what side they’re on and act accordingly.

I guarantee you millions of Americans hearing those words were nodding their heads.

If there is one thing in Trump’s speech that I disagreed with, it’s was this line:

“This president doesn’t know what he’s doing”

I disagree I think the president knows exactly what he is doing as to the why, that’s a great question.

I think this speech which clearly states aloud what a lot of people are thinking. Curt Anderson is spot on

What will the effect of this speech be, something like this:

Although I voted for Hillary in the primary, I now cringe inwardly with shame and embarrassment at having done so, and in November I will vote for Trump.

Why? Yes, I know that Trump is an a**hole, Trump is a clown, Trump is a motormouth buffoon. You don’t have to convince me of that. But he’s also the only person saying anything about putting the brakes on Islamic extremism, and in light of what happened last night in Orlando, suddenly that is the only issue that really matters when it comes to the health, well-being and safety of the queer community.

Now in fairness that was written before the Trump speech but I suspect a lot of people in the Gay community are thinking the same, but don’t dare say it aloud:

And you know what makes me angrier still? The fact that I have to hide my identity and remain anonymous in writing this essay. If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know and by the Twitter lynch mobs which up until yesterday I myself led.

This is the day that Donald Trump wins the presidential election, that’s why CNN et/al will be focusing on his feud with the Washington Post.

Closing thought, if you want to know why the GOP lost in 2012 & 2008, here it is:

A source who works closely with the Trump campaign, granted anonymity in order to speak freely to NBC News, said after Sunday’s attack that the party had asked the candidate to offer condolences and then to stay silent.

My God these people are clueless

Here is the speech

The Godfather Part 2  1974

Saturday night I got myself playing Civ five and ended up staying up all night so I was hearing about the Pulse shooting almost from the start and was able to follow the reactions on social media between turns and watched the news, only pausing long enough to do my podcast before finally hitting the sack just after 2:30 pm (finally got 4+ hours around 2 pm).

Before I went to bed I noticed both the coverage on the networks and the meme on twitter and it was all about protecting Islam and pushing guns as the cause for the mass murder in Orlando, the only exception was the several hours that Jake Tapper was on CNN where he played it straight.

When I woke up CNN was in full, “hatecrime not Islam mode” and on twitter the attacks on conservatives and defenses of islam was unrelenting.

Again this was less than 24 hours after 50+ were slaughtered and blood was still on the floor in Orlando.
And of course conservatives, supporters of the 2nd Amendment and Christians on twitter were under attack by the left for daring to warn them about the people who are trying to kill them.

This leads to two questions, both which are extremely disturbing:

How would the reaction currently being directed toward Conservatives & Christians by the left online be any different if a conservative 2nd Amendment Christian had actually done the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando rather than an Islamist?

The answer: In my opinion it wouldn’t be

Given the first question why should, when Islamic Terrorists target and murder those on the left, any Conservative Christian show any sympathy or expend any effort to protect these folks who hate us so from such attacks?

The answer to the 2nd question is rather easy, it’s a non-optional doctrine of Christianity directly ordered by Christ here:

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?

And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same?

Matthew 5:43-47

And that, along with the American in me outraged over an Islamic attack targeting my countrymen, will continue to trump the Sicilian in me, no matter how much the left attempts to convince me otherwise.
