I must say nothing amazes me more than this meme that we keep hearing after very single attack by an Islamist:

The CNN report itself — the written report, not the clip above — is another marvel, making the story about everything else but the terrorist attack. Paragraph after paragraph of quotes appear in the article about religion of peace, worries about backlash, members of the Somali community worried that their families may have been victimized, before it actually gets to the attacks. It barely mentions that Adan demanded to know the religion of his victims, noting only that he “made a reference to Allah” and “asked at least one person if they were Muslim.” That sounds rather … polite, no? Well, except for the whole attempted-mass-murder thing.

The big story here isn’t the “potential for backlash.” It’s the terrorist attack that nearly took nine or more lives in the sleepy community of St. Cloud. Maybe other outlets will focus on the real story.

The “concern about a backlash” meme is so often repeated that it’s rarely questioned by the left, but two words illustrate how idiotic it is:

Emmett Till

For those of you who don’t know your history Emmett Till was a 14 year old chicago boy who was lynched during a visit to Mississippi in 1955 for the horrible crime of supposedly flirting with a white woman which apparently upset the sensibilities of certain folks.

It’s worth noting that Emmett Till’s murder was not unique in the era of Jim Crow:

From 1882-1968, 4,743 lynchings occurred in the United States.  Of these people that were lynched 3,446 were black.  The blacks lynched accounted for 72.7% of the people lynched.

That works out to about 1 black man lynched every ten days during that period of time.

What does this have to do with Islamic Terror?  Think about it for a second.

Ask yourself how you would react to local police after a lynching during the days of Jim Crow stating:  “They were unclear on the motivations for the attack” and local and national newspapers gave credence to such a statement?

Ask yourself how you would react if after a lynching local and national media in unison said the primary thing to worry about would be a backlash against whites over lynchings of blacks?

Ask yourself how you would react if local and national media insisted that the Jim Crow culture had no bearing on the decision of groups of “lone wolfs” who lynched blacks or that any connection with the culture of Jim Crow to lynching was illegitimate?

Because when you claim that we are unsure of the motivations on Islamic Terror, when you go on about a potential backlash against Islam over terror attacks and you insist that the culture of Islam has nothing to do with the motivations of terrorists & that moderate Islam has no obligation to help the FBI weed out potential terrorists, you sound just like an apologist for Jim Crow circa 1930.

Closing thought as I’ve already said during Jim Crow you had one black man lynched every 10 days. As of this writing it has been 5488 days since Sept 11 2001 and in that time there have been 29,258 attacks by Islamic terrorists worldwide, an average of one attack every 4 1/2 HOURS a rate over 53 times the rate of lynching in the US during Jim Crow.

This year could end up being the most tumultuous year since 1968. During that year there was of course a heated presidential election, the Democrats nominated Vice President Hubert Humphrey, who represented the status quo, one that was not especially popular. The Republicans chose a former vice president, Richard Nixon, whose critics decried as someone who presented a dark vision of America. Sound familiar?Chicago Police SUV

Missing of course in 2016 is a third-party presidential candidate who can win electoral votes; in 1968 avowed segregationist and renegade Democrat George Wallace fed on racial discord–and there is plenty of that this year, most of it brought on by leftist groups such as Black Lives Matter, which seems very keen on protesting the rare shootings of African-American criminal suspects but is largely on silent on the daily carnage in cities such as Chicago, where so far this weekend over thirty people, most of them black, have been shot. In most of these shootings it’s very likely that other blacks pulled the trigger.

What is largely forgotten about the 1968 election is that it was the first presidential contest since Reconstruction in which a southern blacks voted in large numbers.

We’ve progressed far.

The penultimate year of the turbulent 1960s also brought us the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War, North Korea’s seizure of the USS Pueblo, the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King–the anger from the latter caused dozens of deadly riots in American cities–the May Insurrection in France, and the turmoil of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

John “Lee” Ruberry of the Magnificent Seven

I’m sure I overlooked something.

This year has seen several deadly Islamist terrorist attacks, including last month’s Orlando night club shooting and the Nice, France truck killings, two assassination tragedies–one in Dallas and the other in Louisiana–where multiple police officers were killed, “Brexit,” Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, the attempted coup in Turkey, and of course the frenzied US presidential campaign.

Remember: We still have five more months in 2016.

On the positive end, the Apollo 8 mission brought the moon within reach at the end of 1968.

Let’s hope 2016 ends with good news.

Oh, it was also in late 1968 when Star Trek’s “Plato’s Stepchildren” episode aired. Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura delivered American television’s first kiss between a black and a white, and this embrace was not an innocent peck on the cheek.

As Mitch Albom wrote in Tuesdays With Morrie, “Love wins. Always.”

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit. And yes, he was alive in 1968.

Istanbul Old Quarter. From the Telegraph (UK)

by baldilocks

I was going to write about my progress with my second novel and my two books—one about Kenya. But this happened today in Istanbul.

A gun and suicide bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport has killed at least 28 people and injured up to 60.

Up to three attackers were involved, with one reportedly opening fire with a Kalashnikov as they targeted an entry point to the terminal.

Recent bombings in Turkey have been linked to either Kurdish separatists or the so-called Islamic State group.

This looks like a major, co-ordinated assault, the BBC’s Mark Lowen reports.

This morning, I read a piece on the killing of Mohamed Dulyadayn via U.S. air strike. Dulyadayn was the mastermind of the 2015 massacre at Garissa University in Kenya—a Christian university–where 148 students and professors were murdered. Dulyadayn was one of the leaders of al-Shabaab, the regional Islamic terror group.

This morning, just now and many times in the past, it has occurred to me that the West doesn’t pay that much attention to Islamic terror strikes when they occur in areas perceived to be Islamic, even though the body count is often much higher than in perceived non-Islamic areas—Paris and New York City notwithstanding.

As I’ve pointed out many times, Kenya is primarily a Christian nation, but because it is in Africa, where Islam had nearly free rein until the beginning of the European colonial era at the end of the 19th century and because Kenya has been at war with neighboring Somalia, terror attacks there seem common to the Western eye.

And, of course, Istanbul is the largest city in Islamic Turkey.

My observation is not a criticism. What it is intended to do is to point to something deeper: that we expect Muslims to murder people, even their co-religionists. So when they act up in a place where they are highly concentrated, it’s horrifying, but there isn’t as much outrage as when they shoot up a public benefits center in San Bernardino or a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Does that say something about us or about them?

Answer: yes.

RIP, Istanbul victims.

I’d like to say I was shocked at this story at real clear politics:

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

Or to rephrase it: We are going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

When I read this the first thing that came to mind was something I saw at the National Press Club last week.

On a big screen when you come in there is a statement concerning Donald Trump’s decision to remove the credentials from the Washington Post meaning that while they can cover his events they don’t have the access that other members of the press do.

It was presented with the self righteousness of a group that does not hint that they can still cover the events and report on them, only on Trump assault on free speech, or that there is a reason why the press is often described as “Democrats with bylines”.

Now while one can debate this move by the Trump campaign maybe it’s just me but I’d say the suppression of the record on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the United States homeland is something that the national press club might find objectionable.

So my question is this: Will the National Press Club put up a display objecting just as strongly to the censoring of the public record by this Administration on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US for all Americans as they will Donald Trump?

I suspect to ask the question is to answer it.

by baldilocksBaldilocks mini

Of course, people are still talking about the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack. And many of the funerals are probably being conducted this weekend. And the government, after so miserably failing to protect Americans once again is contemplating at least two methods of stripping law-abiding Americans from two areas of protection mandated in the Bill of Rights.

After San Bernardino, I remember wondering when the next time a Muslim would shoot up/blow up another set of Americans. No great insight was necessary to predict that it would occur again and now it has. And there will be a next time.

And the ridiculous shifting of blame from Muslims onto Christians will happen again, as well. How high will that mountain of lies be by then?

Funny thing (not funny ha-ha)—I believe that the blaming of Christians for something that an enemy of Christians does is a meme set in motion by a finite and unnamed group of government actors—a tactic made easier by Social Media, especially Twitter. As a result, individual anti-theists—along with other haters of the Church–grab it and run with it. This finite group and its witting and unwitting lackeys couldn’t care less whether the connection between being against same-sex marriage and murdering homosexuals makes sense or not. And the lackeys hope that the government cracks down on Christians. Why? Because we disagree with them.

But what is the hope of the unnamed government group? This isn’t difficult to predict either.

Every mass shooting is an opportunity for this unnamed group to stir up the hue and cry to ban guns. Additionally, every mass shooting not involving blacks as perpetrator or victim is an opportunity to stir up hatred toward Christians. In the one recent case where the victims were black Christians–Charleston— the unnamed group had to pivot to the Confederate flag as the thing to be denounced.)

But guns are always the primary target—if you’ll pardon the pun. Always. Because guns in the hand of citizens is the last defense against what the unnamed government group wants; complete control of the American citizenry—all races, straights, gays, Christians, Jews, atheists, Hindus, Sikhs…

You’ll notice I left Muslims off the list. The unnamed group wants them to have guns and to conduct more terror. That’s proven by both the events in San Bernardino and in Orlando…and many other events I’m not inclined to look up at the moment. And the unnamed group wants other chaotic elements–think drug cartels–to keep their guns, too.

Should the banning of guns occur, these violent elements–and others like them–will run wild, causing the larger American populace to beg for government protection.

And we’ll get it. And it will be the worst thing that has ever happened in this country.

That’s the plan. But you already knew.

My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

Abe Lincoln

Yesterday I talked about the math that explains the Democrat Party’s decision to ignore the driver for the Orlando attack, that is Islamic Terror

The question then becomes: Why is the media treating this as a “too many guns issue”.

One might think the logical conclusion is the MSM is an extension of the Democrat party and reports news accordingly as explained by RS McCain noting another recent crime targeting gays that’s been underreported:

Do you think CNN or the New York Times will notice a crime like this? No, of course not, because the perpetrators are black and the lesbian who got assaulted is white, and therefore it’s strictly local news.
The same principle explains why, when a bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic kills 49 people in Orlando, it’s not a story about the danger posed by bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic. Instead it’s an excuse to lecture Americans about how much we hate gay people. The principle that determines how the media covers such stories is always the same: “How can we report this in a way that helps the Democrat Party?”

It is the last sentence of his argument that is most relevant and the proof of this comes via a Rasmussen poll linked by Ann Althouse

“Among voters who consider the mass murders in Orlando, Florida this past weekend primarily a terrorist attack, Trump leads Clinton 64% to 16%.”
“Clinton posts an 83% to four percent (4%) lead among those who see the killings as chiefly a gun control issue….”

If these numbers are correct then for the MSM to be successful in their attempt to aid and abet a Democrat victory in the fall it not only becomes necessary for the MSM to make the Jihadist attack by a registered gay democrat a gun control issue but it becomes vital that any indication that this was indeed a terror strike against America in general and the gay community in particular be quashed.

Remember the paramount object for the media is to elect democrat and not to report on islamic terror or anti-gay violence.  If they could elect democrats by reporting on islamic terror & anti-gay violence, they would do so.  If they can election democrats by ignoring anti-gay violence and islamic terror they will do that, an if they can elect democrats by reporting on some anti-gay violence and islamic terror attacks while ignoring others they will do that too.

Just after the Islamic Terror attack on the gay nightclub Pulse Facebook, you know those guys who insist they are not censoring conservative, decided to take strong action…against one of the most prominent opponent and a onetime target of Islamic terror Pam Geller

When Breitbart News and Geller objected they followed up by suspending Geller herself.

Just hours after they removed her 50,000-strong group, “Stop Islamization Of America,” Facebook has issued prominent Islam critic Pamela Geller with a 30-day ban.

Well apparently Facebook has discovered that such actions directed against a person targeted for assassination by Islamic Terrorists in response to her critique of the mass slaughter of Gays by an islamic terrorist not only tends to draw unfavorable press but really doesn’t play well with a large segment of the population.

You spoke — you wrote, emailed, called, and YOU succeeded in getting my page and my privileges back. THANK YOU and thank Breitbart for raising a ruckus. Communicating and sharing information is the key to building an army of Davids to defeat the enormous enemedia myths and lies. Each one of my readers is a one-man media organization educating those in your sphere of influence. This is a war on freedom of speech in the age of jihad and sharia. And Facebook is key.

Now this would be just another story about a company backing off after a bad decision but what really got my goat was this quote from Breitbart’s coverage of Facebook’s volte face of the email Facebook sent to Pam after the reinstatement of both groups.

“A member of our team accidentally removed something you posted on Facebook. This was a mistake, and we sincerely apologize for this error. We’re since restored the content and you should now be able to see it.”

I don’t know what bothers me more, the sheer mendacity of that statement or the insult to my intelligence required to expect me to believe it.

On the bright side it’s very nice of Facebook for doing their best to turn my decision not to join facebook into a positive virtue.

The Big Bang Theory The Convergence Convergence 2016

I’ve been watching in disbelief as Barack Obama goes whole hog defending Islam on TV and watching CNN & the entire MSM not only highlighting those words and attacks on Donald Trump while being completely stunned that Mr. Trump is not backing down from his previous statements.

It’s as if the entire MSM has become Sheldon Cooper (without the genius) completely oblivious to what his happening in front of their faces.

Consider just yesterday the Media was all abuzz concerning Donald Trump’s words on the administration’s response to Islamic Terror.

And some like Jake Tapper were a bit shocked:

The gist is post Orlando Donald Trump suggests Barack Obama might not be all that down on defeating Radical Islam and gets the MSM to repeat that charge.

So how does the White House react? Do they ignore it and pursue the investigation of the terror attack? Does the president maintain a dignified silence while allowing surrogates in government to play the “have you no decency” card?

Nope, he respond in person and he doesn’t just respond in person he both defends Islam and defends not talking about radical Islam.

Yes you read that right. Less that 2 days after the most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US since 9/11 Donald Trump manages to get Barack Obama to defend Islam while the blood is still on the floor at Pulse.

But that’s not all, As soon as President Obama was done speaking MSM was covering his words, agreeing with his words, and contrasting his approach to the attacks in Orlando to Mr. Trump. They go all in spending the entire rest of the day repeating this again and again.

So let’s summarize:

After Islamic Terror attack Trump suggests Obama might be weak on Islamic terror

Obama responds by attacking Trump and defending Islam…two days after Islamic Terror attack.

Media repeats and amplifies Obama’s response defending Islam and repeating Trump’s attack. All of this Two days after an successful Islamic Terror attack.

The end result? Within a few days after the single most successful Islamic Terror attack since 9/11 by a man who Obama’s FBI decided was not a threat, Barack Obama is associated with Defending Islam from Trump, while Trump is associated with defending America from radical Islam.

Tuesday was Trump’s birthday, I don’t think the MSM or Barack Obama could have given him a better present.

Donald Trump has completely punked them, The country hasn’t seen such incompetence since the 1962 Mets. If Casey Stengel was a media guy he would be screaming: “Can’t anyone play this game?”

The answer to that question is apparently: Donald Trump.

Exit Question: How much would Donald Trump have paid to get such an image on CMM:

Donald Trump spoke today at St. Anselm college in Goffstown NH today, because it is Monday and I have my scheduled Eucharistic Adoration combined with the need to sleep I was not able to go there to cover Mr. Trump in person to ask Mr. Trump questions after his speech but watching the speech on CNN.

As a general rule a single speech isn’t a game changer, but this speech was because it articulated truths that are self evident, directly named the foe, Radical Islamic terror and called them out for what they are:

He talked about the fruits of denial from folks like Hillary I am not going to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion Clinton

“When it comes to radical islamic terror ignorance is not bliss, it’s deadly”

and said those days were over

“The days of deadly ignorance will end.”

Although in fairness “ignorance” is likely the wrong word, “denial” would to my mind be more accurate

The single biggest game change however in this speech was the acknowledgement that the Muslim community in the US has to make up its mind to work with law enforcement:

“The Muslims have to work with us, they know what’s going on”

That is the spike of the football, instead of putting the onus on Americans to play nice, the onus is put on Muslim Americans to decide what side they’re on and act accordingly.

I guarantee you millions of Americans hearing those words were nodding their heads.

If there is one thing in Trump’s speech that I disagreed with, it’s was this line:

“This president doesn’t know what he’s doing”

I disagree I think the president knows exactly what he is doing as to the why, that’s a great question.

I think this speech which clearly states aloud what a lot of people are thinking. Curt Anderson is spot on

What will the effect of this speech be, something like this:

Although I voted for Hillary in the primary, I now cringe inwardly with shame and embarrassment at having done so, and in November I will vote for Trump.

Why? Yes, I know that Trump is an a**hole, Trump is a clown, Trump is a motormouth buffoon. You don’t have to convince me of that. But he’s also the only person saying anything about putting the brakes on Islamic extremism, and in light of what happened last night in Orlando, suddenly that is the only issue that really matters when it comes to the health, well-being and safety of the queer community.

Now in fairness that was written before the Trump speech but I suspect a lot of people in the Gay community are thinking the same, but don’t dare say it aloud:

And you know what makes me angrier still? The fact that I have to hide my identity and remain anonymous in writing this essay. If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know and by the Twitter lynch mobs which up until yesterday I myself led.

This is the day that Donald Trump wins the presidential election, that’s why CNN et/al will be focusing on his feud with the Washington Post.

Closing thought, if you want to know why the GOP lost in 2012 & 2008, here it is:

A source who works closely with the Trump campaign, granted anonymity in order to speak freely to NBC News, said after Sunday’s attack that the party had asked the candidate to offer condolences and then to stay silent.

My God these people are clueless

Here is the speech

The Godfather Part 2  1974

Saturday night I got myself playing Civ five and ended up staying up all night so I was hearing about the Pulse shooting almost from the start and was able to follow the reactions on social media between turns and watched the news, only pausing long enough to do my podcast before finally hitting the sack just after 2:30 pm (finally got 4+ hours around 2 pm).

Before I went to bed I noticed both the coverage on the networks and the meme on twitter and it was all about protecting Islam and pushing guns as the cause for the mass murder in Orlando, the only exception was the several hours that Jake Tapper was on CNN where he played it straight.

When I woke up CNN was in full, “hatecrime not Islam mode” and on twitter the attacks on conservatives and defenses of islam was unrelenting.

Again this was less than 24 hours after 50+ were slaughtered and blood was still on the floor in Orlando.
And of course conservatives, supporters of the 2nd Amendment and Christians on twitter were under attack by the left for daring to warn them about the people who are trying to kill them.

This leads to two questions, both which are extremely disturbing:

How would the reaction currently being directed toward Conservatives & Christians by the left online be any different if a conservative 2nd Amendment Christian had actually done the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando rather than an Islamist?

The answer: In my opinion it wouldn’t be

Given the first question why should, when Islamic Terrorists target and murder those on the left, any Conservative Christian show any sympathy or expend any effort to protect these folks who hate us so from such attacks?

The answer to the 2nd question is rather easy, it’s a non-optional doctrine of Christianity directly ordered by Christ here:

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?

And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same?

Matthew 5:43-47

And that, along with the American in me outraged over an Islamic attack targeting my countrymen, will continue to trump the Sicilian in me, no matter how much the left attempts to convince me otherwise.

Some of these have already started to happen but I can only type so fast.

During any show that Jake Tapper is not hosting CNN and every other MSM network will do their best to mention guns, throw in the words “KKK” and “hate crime” into the discussion to avoid saying Islamic Terror.

Pam Geller and Robert Spencer wil not be spoken to by any major network.

Colleges will do their best to spin this, somehow blaming Trump.

Hillary Clinton and democrats will be saying Guns Guns guns and will not get any grief for it

Donald Trump will talk Islamic Terror, particularly if the shooter(s) are from abroad and will be under constant media attack for it.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will be pushed out front by CAIR as their regular spokes people will be very gingerly about defending homosexuality and homosexuals.

Despite their total lack of involvement every single White or Christian group that has ever said a bad thing about the LGBT community will be invoked in every media story out there.

Milo Yiannopoulos will write THE column on this attack telling gays it’s time to choose sides for their own survival. He will be mercilessly attacked for it but many gays will come to the same conclusion but not say it aloud for fear of backlash.

Democrats will continue to blame Trump for this attack.

Because the gay community was targeted the administration will be much more proactive than normal.

The leaders of the gay community will be completely torn by this attack as will Bernie Sanders supporters but the later at least will fall into line defending Islam within a week.

Christians of every denomination including the Pope will be praying for the victims, and will get no credit for it MSM will focus on Westboro Baptist instead.

The people who go nuts over the words “Blue Lives Matter” will be silent on the subject for a week or so.

I will be called a hater and a bigot for writing all of these things.

Update: The Mental Health card was played on CNN during Jake’s show, it will continue to be played to avoid going to Islam.

Update 2: I predict that the Transgender bathroom crowd will use this attack as a reason to push their bills “for the victims”.

Update 3: Exactly right

Update 4: Sally Kohn doing her best to prove me right as fast as possible

Update 5:
NBC quoting father “nothing to do with Islam” and going toward the Mass shooting angle , Brokaw urging talk about mass murder that suggests he correctly is worried about what this will do to the election.

Update 6: Two key updates Publius Forum

As the news broke that there had been a mass shooting at a gay bar in Florida, the gay community instantly erupted in accusations that Christians were responsible for the murderous act.

Read the entire post, it will be unsurprising.

And Newsbusters:

On Sunday, even after the FBI hinted the presence of a link to radical Islam, the panel on ABC’s This Week blamed the terrorist attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida on heated election rhetoric and guns in America. “I think we all ought to pause with what happened in Orlando today,” stated ABC’s Matt Dowd when asked if third party candidates could gain supporters, “And if we understand that all of the hateful thoughts become hateful words become hateful actions.”

Update seven: Just woke up after 4+ hours sleep and here is what I see:

Milo had done it

What sort of a man gets so angry by displays of affection, joy, and love that he chooses to gun down innocent people in a nightclub? A Muslim man. And if this one isn’t particularly religious, imagine how much worse the faithful must be.

America has to make a choice. Does it want gay rights, women’s emancipation, and tolerance for people of all nonviolent faiths — or does it want Islam?

From what I’m seeing online the choice of the left is Islam.

and the attempts at denial have been astounding

It’s amazing.

God knows nobody on the left does or cares.

Of all the things that have happened during the Obama years the lack of outrage over what happened to Molly Norris is the thing that , in my opinion, brings more disgrace to us as a nation than any other.

I’m still angry about both what happened to this leftist that I never met and I pray that I never lose that outrage. Because until she can come out of the shadows and live openly in America again we are not a free country.

If you don’t know who Molly Norris is odds are you’re not a regular reader you can find the posts where she is mentioned here.

Red Oak MosqueBy John Ruberry

Belgium–part French and part Dutch–has been a schizophrenic nation since its founding in 1830. But after last month’s deadly terror attacks in Brussels–which is one-quarter Muslim–the country may be coming together under “European values.”

The Belgian secretary of state for asylum and migration, Theo Francken, is proposing the what is being called “a newcomer’s statement,”  which covers non-European Union migrants who stay more than three months.

The plan is expected to become law later this year.  Migrants covered by the law will be forced to sign a pledge to not only to uphold European values, but to oppose terrorism and to report any possible terror attacks.

Those not integrating properly will be kicked out of Belgium.

Despite groups such as CAIR claiming that Islam and the West have shared values, the reality is much different.

Here is just a partial list of the cultural contrasts: Europeans usually marry whoever they want–and that includes members of the same gender–whereas Muslims often rely upon arranged marriages. Religion–if they have one–is a private affair for most Europeans, Muslims follow an absolutist faith that governs all segments of their lives; in fact many Muslims favor eschewing what they dismiss as “man-made law” for sharia, that is, Islamic law, which includes the amputation of hands for thieves and the stoning of people who have extra-marital affairs. Feminists may disagree but men and women enjoy equal rights in Europe. Muslim women are subservient to men as a rule.

Europeans for the most part like the continent the way it is–many Muslims want to culturally annihilate it and make it as Islamic as the Middle East.

If the Euro-Muslims win out it is their values that will be European ones.

Europe is in for a rough ride no matter what the outcome of this clash of civilizations.

Hornblower bowed, but as the Colonel remained unbending he stiffened to attention. He could recognize that type of man at once—the servant of a tyrant, and in close personal association with him, modeling his conduct not on the tyrant’s but on what he fancied should be the correct behaviour of a tyrant, far out-Heroding Herod.

C.S. Forester Flying Colors 1938

I mentioned this morning that it’s hard to comment on news stories on April 1st because you can’t tell what’s real an what’s not.

Hot Air apparently had the same problem.

I owe the MRC an apology for doubting them.

What is the story that the MRC reported that Hot Air couldn’t believe from the MRC? This:

The White House briefly pulled video of a press event on terrorism with Pres. Obama, and when it reappeared on the WhiteHouse.gov website and YouTube, the audio of Hollande’s translator goes silent, beginning with the words “Islamist terrorism,” then begins again at the end of his sentence.

Even the audio of Hollande saying the words “Islamist terrorism” in French have, apparently, been edited from the video.

It’s even worse than it sounds:

You know what the worst part is? Hollande didn’t say “Islamic terrorism,” which is the supposedly objectionable term. He said “Islamist terrorism.” “Islamist” was, I thought, a term that came into use precisely because it gave the speaker an efficient way to distinguish between “moderate Muslims” and the more jihad-minded. “Islamic” describes all things Muslim; “Islamist” describes a supremacist view in which Islam is the highest authority of the state. Many critics of Islam would dispute that there’s a meaningful distinction between those two, but Obama and Hollande certainly wouldn’t. ISIS may not be Islamic to Obama but it’s certainly Islamist. Point being, Hollande chose his words carefully here according to the White House transcript so as not to conflate the average Muslim with the jihadis he’s discussing — and the White House still censored him.

This is not just a function of Obama, it’s a function of the functionaries under him:

it is the work of those people on a lower level that contribute the most real world damage to Americans.

When President Obama is replaced in November it will be good for the country but just as good if not better will the symbolic cleaning of the Augean stables that the sweeping his radical cronies from DC will be.

As Glenn Reynolds Ed Driscoll put it:

I disagree, Barack Obama has been a joke since day 1 and frankly if I was Basil Fawlty I’d be insulted by the comparison.

Update: That was Ed Driscoll at Instapundit, not Glenn Reynolds

Update 2: Jim Treacher hits the ultimate Irony:

This is not okay. This is underhanded and cowardly. It’s positively Orwellian. Good lord, our government has lost its way so completely that I’m being forced to defend the President of France.

That’s pretty bad.

I’m back trying to get that elusive $61 a day for DaTipJar but lately I haven’t reported on my progress. Part of it has been I’ve been busy but the other part being the reports for March would be rather depressing.

If we made our $61 a day my annual Tip jar would come into today at $5185, it currently stands at $2857. That’s a deficit of $2328 an increase of nearly $1000 this month.

Or to put it bluntly As of March 26, we’ve made our goal up to Feb 15th a full 29 days behind our goal.

And it’s not due to a lack of traffic, our number in March remain consistent with the blog’s recovery from our previous doldrums as of today we are over 10,000 visits ahead of last March and on a pace to nearly meet March 2014 the final month before our unexpected traffic crash began.

As I’ve said I’d like to think we do good work here If you’d like to help us keep up the pace please consider hitting DaTipJar

If less than 2/3 of 1% did, I’d be completely out of debt and able to attend CPAC

Two men [original link unavailable].

Based on the accounts of witnesses and loved ones’ knowledge of the two men’s characters, a devastating picture emerges of that tragic morning. [SNIP]

When the first plane hit the building, [Abe] Zelmanowitz, 55, and [Edward] Beyea, 42, both systems analysts for Blue Cross Blue Shield, fled the office with their co-workers. The elevators were not working, and Beyea, a 300-pound man in a heavy mechanized wheelchair, could not get down the stairs, which were choked with streams of panicked workers. [SNIP]

“He couldn’t have left him,” said Zelmanowitz’s sister-in-law, Evelyn Zelmanowitz of Flatlands, N.Y. “That’s what made Abe, Abe.” [SNIP]

Both men were lost in the collapse of the north tower that morning. [SNIP]

There is some indication that they had made it to the 21st floor when the building collapsed. Their bodies have not been recovered.

Why are such men hated?

On that very day, I was sad, then furious and then filled with hate. I don’t feel the latter much any more, but, occasionally, it flares up again; especially when I read about people like Misters Zelmanowitz and Beyea. Their families have nothing to bury; they only live with the memory of loved persons. And, meanwhile, other men and women are dying for having breathed in the dust of their bodies, along with the dust of their desks, their computers, the dust of Mr. Beyea’s wheelchair, the dust of the building in which they worked, and are dying from just plain grief.

Why don’t we hate them?

Do I hate them—the terrorists who murdered Misters Zelmanowitz and Beyea? No, not most of the time. Nor do I hate their liked-minded living brethren. Do I fear them? Most certainly not, but that’s merely because I learned to not fear that which can kill the body—also because I knew a long time ago that the goal of any terrorist is to instill fear. Can’t give them that particular victory.

But why shouldn’t I hate those who would murder such seemingly innocuous, harmless and loving men like Zelmanowitz and Beyea? Because it does nothing for either me or those two men; I’m here and they’re bodies are now an integral part of New York City (along with those of hundreds of others who were never found in the wreckage of the Twin Towers).

So why does the story of these two formerly living men fill me with so much anger?

Because they were simply living well and they should have been left alone to go on living the same way. That they died well and honorably—like so many others on that day—is uplifting in a way, but guess what? I would have preferred that they had gone on living anonymously rather than to have become one of the footnotes in many a 9/11 post like this one.

And that’s why I hate the terrorists. Sometimes. Okay, often.

Storm3by baldilocks

The West is repeating a mistake, a very recent one, says Daniel Greenfield. Greenfield points to the startling similarities between nascent international socialism from a century ago, the rise of Islamism in the present, and the impotence of the West in nipping both in their cradles. There are even parallel American presidents in the mix, both from the Democrat Party, and both with sympathies to the contemporaneous ideologies. Islamism has even infiltrated itself into Western institutions—exactly as the Organized Left did.

Greenfield claims that the West will lose to Islamism because it “doesn’t really want to defeat Islamic terrorism.”

It responds to terrorism while ignoring the ideology. And then it roots around for root causes that coincidentally turn out to all involve progressive policy priorities like economic inequality and global warming.

But novelist Matthew Bracken sees no such ignorant innocence in the reaction of the Organized Left to Islamic world ascendance, especially since Islamism is infiltrating the West not just ideologically, but corporeally.

The accelerated pace of the 2015 Muslim hijra [jihad by immigration] invasion [of Europe] was conceived, planned and executed by Quisling traitors comprising the elite leadership of the European branch of the international socialist movement, headquartered in Brussels. To paraphrase British nationalist patriot Paul Weston, if a farmer deliberately inserts a fox into the henhouse, who is guilty of killing the hens?

Now, today, across Europe the stage is being set for the genocide of the weak, confused and defenseless European hens. Former East German Communist functionary Angela Merkel achieves high marks at both Muslim fox insertion and German hen repression. (Meanwhile, former Soviet Communist KGB Colonel Vladimir Putin evolves to become a Russian nationalist who always advances Russian interests, at least as they are perceived by himself and his cronies).

In reality, the international socialists and the Islamist forces have agreed upon a murder pact, wherein their common enemy, the nationalists, will be removed as a threat to either of them forever. In 2016, European nations will deliberately be torched, in order to finish off their people’s last remaining notions of national pride and cultural identity. In effect, the coming conflict will constitute an agreement about the dinner menu made between a jackal, a hyena, and a supremely stupid bliss-ninny lamb, who was raised on Utopian multi-cultural fantasies. The lamb believes that by its own sweet example, the jackal and the hyena can be turned into vegetarians—but the choice for the dinner entree is already a foregone conclusion. European nationalists will be shot and stabbed in their fronts and their backs until they go down and are consumed by both of their rapacious destroyers.

If the traitor elites can imagine sufficiently far into the future, then they must surely see international socialism lining up next for its climactic struggle against Islam, which shall be fought atop the still-warm corpse of European nationalism.

Bracken says that Islam will win the follow-on conflict because the elites will have no problem converting to Islam—or, at least, pretending to. But, in the end Islam will win because

you can live without accepting a suitcase full of Euros or a juicy job offer as a bribe. But you cannot live with your head removed from your shoulders.

So which scenario is true? I know what I think, but in reality, that does not matter. There has to be another option for the endgame.

Meanwhile, in the wake of San Bernardino, Americans observe, think, and react, in spite of rhetoric and planned tyranny of our own Leftists.

Arab American National Museum
Arab American National Museum, Dearborn

By John Ruberry

When Muslims say they condemn the radicals within their faith, a common retort is, “If that is so, then why don’t you hold anti-terrorism marches?”

Well, one was held yesterday in Dearborn, Michigan, the city with the largest Arab-American population in the Untied States. The peace rally was organized by Imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Center, the cultural hub of the Detroit suburb’s Muslim community. Al-Husainy was an early supporter of Operation Iraqi Freedom, although he later turned against the war. The cleric gave an invocation at a Democratic National Committee event in 2006. Al-Husainy was was the featured cleric on The Learning Channel’s reality show All American Muslim. If you are seeking a mainstream Muslim leader, Al-Husainy may be your guy. Or he may not be. More on him in a little bit.

Watch the march video here. You’ll see that many of the parade’s participants were dressed all in black, which happens to be the get-up that members Islamic State wear. Oops. There was singing–or was it chanting?–in Arabic, not English. Many of the marchers held banners and flags in Arabic–and I counted just one lonely American flag. Of course there weren’t any Israeli flags.

In a statement prior to the march, Al-Husainy declared, “We are for peace, coexistence, respecting all religions, protecting human life and believing in God.” But does that include Jews? The Dearborn cleric is a signatory of the anti-Israeli Jerusalem Document that Christian convert Walid Shoebat, a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, calls “the ‘Mein Kampf’ of Document of Jerusalem.”

Muslims–in Dearborn and beyond–also need to forcefully speak out against the slaughter by ISIS of Christians and Yazidis. That message was also absent in the Dearborn rally.

Al-Husainy’s peace march was at best only a good first step for American Muslims to counter radical Islamic terrorism. And maybe not even that.

It’s generally a bad idea to speculate about news while it’s happening but I’m going to make some predictions concerning the Paris attacks

Hungary’s border fence will cease being mocked and start being copied.

The citizen Militia that Pam Geller talked about in the German town of Magdeburg will be copied all over Europe

Incidentally no major network will invite Pam or Robert Spencer to comment on these events

Within 48 hours the major networks will have stories of how Muslims in Europe are terrified of retaliation over these attacks (It’s already started on twitter)

During tomorrow’s Democrat debate The Democrat Candidates will go out of their way to both condemn the Paris attacks & insist that these attacks have nothing to do with Islam or Muslim immigration but will insist that they will have strong safeguards for said immigrants

The College students tweeting under the Hashtags #millionstudentmarch & #amherstuprising will not grasp the foolishness of crying oppression at the same time that people are being murdered in the streets.

If any of the targets are jewish then the exodus of Jews from Europe to Israel will accelerate.

Parties opposing Muslim Immigration will begin winning majorities in Europe.

Finally I started this post with a quote about rats, you have to kill them or let them be, I predict Europe will let them be.

Danish flagBy John Ruberry

Western civilization is under attack by radical Islam.

Two men were murdered yesterday in Copenhagen, Denmark in separate terror shootings, although the now-deceased killer–who as of this writing has not been named–is believed to have been the gunman in both incidents.

The first shooting occurred at the “Art, Blasphemy and the Freedom of Expression Event” held at a café in the Danish capital city. Swedish cartoonist, Lars Vilks, who drew Mohammed as a dog eight years ago, is believed to have been the intended target. Vilks was not harmed, but another man was killed–and three police officers were wounded. Later that night a Jewish man was shot to death when the assassin opened fire at a synagogue–and two other cops were wounded.

Vilks is on al Qaeda’s most-wanted list.

Needless to say, the murderer is almost certainly not a Lutheran.

The murders happened a little more than a month after the jihadists murdered 12 people at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris–the magazine regularly portrayed Muhammad in  satirical cartoon form. Two days later–although a separate terrorist was responsible–four people were murdered at a kosher market in Paris.

Folks–by now a theme should be apparent.Mosque

Now what?

Well, it’s time that Western civilization stand up for itself and avoid milquetoast defenses such as the one offered yesterday by Denmark’s prime minister, “This is not a battle between Islam and the West, and it is not a battle between Muslims and non-Muslims, but a battle between the values of freedom for the individual and a dark ideology.”

Let’s look back to the 19th century when the West wasn’t rooted–if such a thing is possible–by nihilism. The practice of sati in India, when the widow would join the funeral pyre of her husband was widespread until the British decided to end it. The commander-in-chief of colonial India, Sir Charles James Napier, had this to say:

Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.

Denmark–and the rest of the West–needs to defiantly stand up and define itself to the rest of the world and also to its still small Muslim minorities living within.

There is hope. Shortly after the Charlie Hebdo murders, the Morroco-born mayor of a Netherlands city advised those who are offended by Western free expression to “pack your bags and leave.”

That’s a great idea.

UPDATE 7:00pm EST: The killer has been identified as Omar El-Hussein.

Nidal Hasan mug shot
Nidal Hasan mug shot

By John Ruberry

Last week’s news was dominated–which was as it should have been–by the barbaric burning alive of a captured Jordanian pilot at the hands of the Islamic State, which the terror group videotaped.

While the White House did deem this atrocity as a terrorist act, President Obama has been reluctant to what his administration probably refers to as the “T-word.” That is, terrorism.

Just last month spokespersons from the White House were refusing to call the Taliban terrorists. You know, that group that harbored Osama bin Laden as he plotted the 9/11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Nothing to see here, folks…just move on.

In 2009, evil Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan, while screaming “Allahu Akbar,” murdered 13 soldiers and wounded 30 others at Fort Hood in Texas. For over five years our military–its commander-in-chief of course is Obama–refused to call this slaughter an act of terror. Instead the Fort Hood shootings were classified as “workplace violence.” This injustice wasn’t just a matter of semantics–some benefits and compensation were withheld from the victims because of the heartless definition.

Of course Obama could have added to his plethora of executive orders by righting this wrong. But he didn’t.purpleheart-vi

But on Friday, thanks not to Obama but to a change in the legal definition of terrorism by Congress in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015, the Fort Hood shootings are now classified as terror acts–and the wounded will soon be awarded Purple Hearts.

Hasan, who is now imprisoned on death row at Fort Leavenworth, had communicated with Anwar al-Awlaki, who until his 2011 death was leader of Al Qeada in Yemen. The shrink also had business cards printed with SoA after his name–an acronym for soldier of Allah.

Last year Hasan wrote to the leader of ISIS, telling him, “I formally and humbly request to be made a citizen of the Islamic State.”

Now will Obama himself finally call the Fort Hood murders an act of terror?

See it?
See it?

By John Ruberry

“See it
For the same reason no one ever
Pointed a telescope at the sun”
The Clash, Red Angel Dragnet.

The last 100 years can safely be placed into the following eras. World War I (1914-1918), Interwar (1918-1939), World War II (1939-1945), the Cold War (1945-1991), and the present epoch, the Age of Islamic Terror (1991-present). Certainly there were Muslim-inspired terror acts before 1991, such as the assassination of Anwar Sadat ten years earlier by an Islamist. But the Cold War was the driving international political force then.

Now Islamic terror and the rest of the world’s response to it is the global impetus of change, for good or for ill.

And what has happened since 1991? Some of the atrocities include the first World Trade Center attack, Osama bin Laden’s two jihad fatwas, al Qaeda’s African embassy bombings and its bombing of the USS Cole, 9/11, the 2002 Bali bombings, the 3/11 bombings in Madrid, Hamas’ takeover of Gaza, Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon, the 7/7 bombings in London, Hezbollah’s war with Israel, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Fort Hood, thousands of sectarian murders in Iraq and Pakistan, the Boston Marathon bombings, the rise of Boko Haram in Nigeria, Benghazi, the ascent of the Islamic State in Syria and northern Iraq, and this month’s Charlie Hebdo slaughter in Paris. This rundown reads like a listing of the theaters of conflict during the Second World War.

Sometimes radical Islamists attacks other Muslims, such as last week’s removal from office of the president of Yemen by Iranian-backed Shi’ites.

For the most part world leaders ignore or obfuscate the reality that they are living in the Age of Islamic Terror. President Obama regularly refers to Islamic terror as “violent extremism,” a term that is broad enough to include gang-bang murders on Chicago’s South Side. Great Britain’s prime minister, David Cameron, says his nation is not at war with radical Islam, countering it’s “just a huge challenge our society faces.” But the war is there. Just as the sun is there as well–even if we don’t point a telescope at it.

MosqueBy John Ruberry

Five days ago free expression was attacked in Paris when Cherif Kouachi and his brother Said, who were trained by Al Qaeda in Yemen, screamed “Allahu Akbar” (God is great!) while killing 12 people with AK-47s, most of them journalists employed by satire magazine Charlie Hebdo. The terrorists were killed by French police two days later.

Muslim apologists quickly filled the airwaves, explaining that such atrocities are not compatible with Islam and that murderers such as the Kouachi brothers are outliers of the faith–bad apples.

I generally don’t agree with HBO’s Bill Maher, a strident atheist, but when he said last week about Islam, “When there are that many bad apples, there’s something wrong with the orchard,” I have to admit he’s on to something.

Radical Muslims were of course behind the 9/11 attacks in the United States, as well as the 3/11 Mardid and 7/7 London bombings. The jihadists who have seized much of Iraq and Syria–while murdering thousands of Christians and Yazidis–have announced the founding of a new Caliphate. The Fort Hood murderer considered himself a Soldier of Allah. And while western journalists were devoting the lion’s share of its coverage to the Charlie Hebdo killings last week, another Islamist group, Boko Haram, murdered all of the residents–2,000 people–in the Nigerian village of Baga. These are the same criminals who kidnapped 200 teenage Nigeria girls who were the subject of Michelle Obama’s #BringBackOurGirls Twitter campaign. It didn’t work–the teens are still missing.

Islam–you have a problem. Yes, there are many Muslims that I know who like most people, just want to live their lives and be left alone.  But my guess is that the radicals oppose them too.

Egypt’s president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who did his nation and the world a huge service by ousting the Muslim Brotherhood from power, is calling for a “religious revolution” within Islam. In a New Year’s Day speech, Sisi said, “Is it possible that 1.6 billion people should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants—that is 7 billion—so that they themselves may live?”

If the rest of the world’s inhabitants don’t accept Islam, what Sisi said of the radicals very well may be true.

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit.

There is a huge march today in Paris in solidarity against the Terror Attack on Charlie Hebdo.

In terms of symbolism the idea of such a march with even the PM of Israel and the head of the PLO marching with the German President, the French President, the Turkish president (but not Barack Obama) is powerful but there is one thing missing.

We have been told over and over again that the various terrorists from those who attacked Charlie Hebdo to those who hit the Jewish market to those who firebombed a German magazine who dared reprint the cartoons do not represent more than a tiny fringe of Islam. In fact we are told that all of these people from ISIS to Al Qaeda don’t understand the religion that they have been following all their lives.

Let’s for the sake of argument, rather than illustrate the folly of their argument, accept it for the moment.

If this in fact is the case then the Muslim population of France would utterly reject these actions, and to their credit there are apparently a fair amount of Muslims who have turned out for this march.

But there is one thing missing one question I would ask

Will this march go though any Muslim neighborhoods?

If the vast overwhelming number of Muslim in France in general and in Paris in particular are united in opposition to this then it would be of great symbolic value for the marchers to go through the Muslim quarter of Paris.

And if the vast majority of Muslims truly oppose these terrorist acts there would be little danger in doing this, after all such a march would not be “insulting” to anyone and the community would be more than happy to identify any real nutcase that could be a problem.

Will that happen? I’ll be watching and waiting to see.

Nearly all major news agencies have been reporting on the recent Islamic terror attacks in Paris: the ambush of Charlie Hebdo journalists and responding police officers and the hostage-murders at a Kosher grocery store. But those of us who pay closer attention to what’s going on in the world know about this also.

Newsweek say that this is Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau. (YouTube)

Hundreds of bodies – too many to count – remain strewn in the bush in Nigeria from an Islamic extremist [sic] attack that Amnesty International described as the “deadliest massacre” in the history of Boko Haram.

District head Baba Abba Hassan said most victims are children, women and elderly people who could not run fast enough when insurgents drove into Baga, firing rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles on town residents.

“The human carnage perpetrated by Boko Haram terrorists in Baga was enormous,” Muhammad Abba Gava, a spokesman for poorly armed civilians in a defence group that fights Boko Haram, told the Associated Press.

He said the civilian fighters gave up on trying to count all the bodies. “No one could attend to the corpses and even the seriously injured ones who may have died by now,” Gava said.

An Amnesty International statement said there are reports the town was razed and as many as 2,000 people killed.

Boko Haram’s previous high body count in Nigeria was achieved last year: 600.

It’s interesting to note that the name ‘Boko Haram’ means ‘books forbidden’—that is, books for girls and women. However, I doubt that any of these demonic vessels are, themselves, making their way through the Great Books.

Also interesting: how the mainstream media treats Islamic terror in Europe as compared to how they are recently treating far worse attacks in Africa and in other places which are openly acknowledged to be Muslim lands. There’s not much outrage. But, this wasn’t always so.

Here’s why this slightly smaller, Nigerian version of 9/11 gets less coverage in the mainstream media: the continent is conceded as theirs—or so the designated reporters of the news now believe.

We’ll see how long it takes for Europe to be deemed Muslim. French Jews aren’t waiting around for the announcement this time.

French satire weekly Charlie Hebdo has been attacked by Muslims again, this time killing twelve people, including two policemen, and wounding twenty more.

This is what we know so far:

  • Three gunmen wearing face masks and carrying repetition guns came out of cars and walked into the office of Charlie Hebdo, which was holding its weekly meeting.
  • This was a well-planned, premeditated attack.
  • Paris police have confirmed at least one of the men was carrying a rocket launcher.
  • Eyewitness say the attackers yelled “Allahu Akbar” as they fired. One said in French “the prophet has been avenged.” Additionally,

There are reports in the French press that one of the attackers told an eyewitness to “tell the media that we are from Al-Qaida in the Yemen”.

Jean Cabut, or “Cabu”, a veteran of several French newspapers and reportedly the highest paid cartoonist in the world.

According to a journalist at the scene, at least one of the police officers killed had been assigned to protect Mr Charbonnier personally. In 2013 he was included on a “most wanted” list published by Inspire, al-Qaeda’s terrorist propaganda magazine.

  • Charlie Hebdo’s editor-in-chief Gerard Biard was in London when the attack took place.
  • One of the policemen, apparently unarmed, was executed on the sidewalk.
  • The gunmen are still at large. France is at its
    highest level of alert.

You can watch the France24 livefeed here.

Later today,

A car explosion has been reported in front of a synagogue in Sarcelles, a heavily Jewish populated city near Paris where two where two gunmen attacked the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo just hours earlier on Wednesday, French media outlet Metronews reported.

The car was parked in front of a synagogue, and reportedly exploded at about 2.30 p.m. local time.

The synagogue had been firebombed last July. Other attacks had been taking place through France since late December.

What this means:
This is an attack on civil society, be it in France or anywhere in the world. Every civilized country should condemn it.

I first browsed through a Charlie Hebdo years ago, mistakenly thinking it would be a French Mad Magazine. It was not. While it is a humor magazine, frequently [WARNING: the link is definitely not suitable for work] it’s in-your-face pornographic and thrives on blasphemy. I heard one of the reporters mistakenly describe CH as “a conservative magazine.”

That said, the Charlie Hebdo staff have been steadfast on their commitment to freedom of expression and freedom of the press, and continued their work unflinchingly after a firebombing on the night of November 2, 2011.

As Charb declared, “I prefer to die standing than to live on my knees.”

Wasn’t it just a few years ago when the Government of Canada was doing it’s best to repress Mark Steyn and Ezra Levant for daring to suggest that  maybe, just maybe Jihadist type might be a danger?

And then we see this headline in Canada:

Attack on Ottawa: PM Harper cites terrorist motive

I thoroughly condemn the attacks on Canada by Islamists. Not only are they evil, barbaric and contrary to the laws of was,but given all that Canada did to stop people from speaking out against radical Islam it shows a profound ingratitude.

And that’s just beyond the pale.

Closing thought: It’s a damn good thing Canada did all it could to stop people who tried to warn them about Islamic terror or something even worse might have happened.

Update:  RS McCain:

We learn that Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the terrorist killed in his attack Thursday on the Canadian Parliament building in Ottawa, was both mentally ill and a convert to Islam:

Well that would explain it, he’s crazy.  Why else would a muslim attack a country that has been so protective of Islamic radicals within it’s borders?  I mean, it’s just not cricket.

Update 2:  I should point out neither Pam Geller nor Robert Spencer had an easy time in Canada either.

We are $5000 5 grand away from paying the year’s bills.

According to many Obama supporters, pretty much all criticism of Obama is racist; you can add the New York Times, that arm of the VRWC (Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy) to the racist list: Today they have Bruce Ackerman in the op-ed page,
Obama’s Betrayal of the Constitution

PRESIDENT OBAMA’s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris.

That was the opening salvo; Ackerman ends with,

He is acting on the proposition that the president, in his capacity as commander in chief, has unilateral authority to declare war.

In taking this step, Mr. Obama is not only betraying the electoral majorities who twice voted him into office on his promise to end Bush-era abuses of executive authority. He is also betraying the Constitution he swore to uphold.

You could argue, as some of the NYT commenters, that Obama has not declared that the U.S. is going to war against a nation, just that “We will degrade, and ultimately destroy, ISIL through a comprehensive and sustained counterterrorism strategy.”

Whatever that means.

For now, Obama’s sending only “an additional 475 servicemembers to Iraq,” but “these American forces will not have a combat mssion” to fight “terrorists [who] are unique in their brutality.”

John Kerry assures us it’s not war, “it is a major counter-terrorism operation.” David Corn calls it a “nuanced war”.

I guess that explains why the Turks, the Germans, and the Brits are not joining in Obama’s broad coalition of partners. Germany will provide support to the Kurds, but Germany and the UK won’t be providing airpower for American airstrikes. They are not nuanced enough.

Then there’s Obama’s line, delivered with a distinct lack of affect, about

This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years.

Yemen and Somalia, two failed, strategically marginal, states, with active untamed insurgencies, while, as Dr. Krauthammer points out,

The Islamic State controls a vast territory in the heart of oil-rich Mesopotamia, threatening everything of importance in the Middle East.

How will this glaring mismatch of ends and means all turn out? As Pete put it,

This is by design because no matter what President Obama and the Democrats say, the only way to beat ISIS is boots on the ground and they know it. However they are determined to avoid that responsibility.

Richard Fernandez is gloomy, “My own view on the matter can be summarized in a word: Libya. Libya on a gigantic scale.”

Clearly, the Islamic State is Islamic. What is not clear is whether the Commander in Chief realizes that the Constitution does not grant him unilateral authority to declare war . . . because, nuanced or not, war is war.

OK picture this problem, you are an ultra liberal, practically socialist mayor of one of the largest cities in the world who has followed a mayor so rich that nobody on your side wanted to make demands of him for fear of chasing away his custom or charity once he was out of office.

You have to please your base to the city starts to change, you go after the carriage drivers for the environmentalists (or maybe for a developer) the Squeegee men come back and you stop and frisk and crime starts to increase. Sensing the bad old times are back people who can afford it start to leave.

Well what do you do if you can’t keep people with money in your city? You get new people who are in a spot even worse:

Wealthy French Jews Are Fleeing Anti-Semitism and Bringing Their Money

A “fixer” named Marlen Kruzhkov has helped dozens of rich guys move their families — and over $1 billion — to NYC

And compared to France, even NY is business friendly

For this Jewish population, there are two main options when it comes to moving: the United States or Israel. While Israel feels more familiar to many of those seeking to migrate – it’s nearby and many already have Israeli passports — Mr. Kruzhkov notes that their businesses are often the key to determining a location.

“Israel is a small place, business opportunities are less, there is much more red tape.

The US is easier; it’s a great place to do business, less red tape.” Nonetheless, it is anti-Semitism, not business opportunities, that is driving the Jewish population out of France. “It’s no question, the driving force is the anti-Semitism, but the reason they are choosing the US is due to sound business reasons.”

Who thought that rampant french antisemitism would pay off for the ultra liberal mayor of NY?

The problem is will the supply of wealthy Jews fleeing for their lives to NY be sufficient to offset effects of a full DeBlasio term?

draw-mohammedIf you are a long term reader of this blog or a long term listener to my radio show you know the easiest way to get me angry is to get me talking about Molly Norris.

For those of you who don’t know Three years ago Molly Norris was a cartoonist in Seattle whose work appeared regularly in the Seattle Weekly. Her style is not really the type I go for

After the censoring of South Park Episodes by Comedy Central over the inclusion of Mohammad she proposed “Everybody Draw Mohammad Day” in solidarity with the artiest whose lives were in danger.

Oddly enough I was not a fan of Everybody Draws Mohammad day

I have unabashedly declared Islamic killers as barbarians, I will continue to do so. I have condemned the cowardice of Comedy Central. I don’t feel I have anything to prove. In addition I don’t like caricatures of Christ, Mary etc that are unflattering. I want respect for my religion therefore I need to show that same respect. Free speech has to also include freedom to not speak if you don’t want to.

Therefore I am not going to draw Mohammed on May 20th. If you think less of me because of that, so be it…

Immediately afterwards a FATWA was put upon her and the reaction of the “free speech” crowd that was constantly complaining about Bush, was…silence.

It did not end pretty:

You may have noticed that Molly Norris’ comic is not in the paper this week. That’s because there is no more Molly

No she’s not dead

on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, “going ghost”: moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity. She will no longer be publishing cartoons in our paper or in City Arts magazine, where she has been a regular contributor. She is, in effect, being put into a witness-protection program—except, as she notes, without the government picking up the tab. It’s all because of the appalling fatwa issued against her this summer, following her infamous “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” cartoon.

The anniversary of the fatwa on her passed and almost nobody noticed and three years later Morry Norris is still in hiding.

An American Cartoonist, forced in hiding for exercising her first amendment rights for nearly three years and nobody is objecting, no congressional resolutions, no speeches on the house floor and no stories in the MSM. In my opinion this is a national disgrace.

Which brings us to Brett Kimberlin & Co.

Lee Stranahan reports the following

A photo taken by Brett Kimberlin on Friday, March 1st and quickly posted to the site BreibartUnmasked is the latest in a long series of attempts by convicted felon Kimberlin to attempt to stir up Muslim hatred towards blogger Aaron Walker, apparently as revenge against Mr. Walker for helping another blogger Kimberlin has a long running grudge against.

Walker’s crime: Participating in Everyone Draw Mohammad day. Brett Kimberlin’s crew apparently takes a dim view of supporting the first amendment. Stranahan again:

The editor of BreitbartUnmasked is Kimberlin’s friend Bill Schmalfeldt, who has accusing Walker of hating Muslims more than “he loves his wife”. The site also published a photo of Mr. Walker’s wife.

Mr. Schmalfeldt has also written thinly veiled threats to Mr. Walker, such as this one from a post entitled “Aaron Walker: A Cautionary Tale”:

In the meantime, Aaron Walker sits in front of his spit-flecked computer screen and blogs and tweets about the injustice of it all. But everyone knows he’s a dead man blogging — metaphorically.

This latest photo post by Brett Kimberlin and Bill Schmalfeldt is transparently another further attempt to have free-speech hating lunatics to target Walker.

Mind you the Kimberlin crowd is not doing this because they object to some Muslims being critiqued as murderous barbarian bastards who would kill or threaten a person who objects to Islamic threats. They are doing this specifically because they BELIEVE Muslims to be murderous barbarian bastards who will threaten or harm those who critique them, in fact they’re counting on it!

One might call that racism. I call it a crime against the 1st amendment.

At the time the threats took place against Ms Norris I said the following:

I’m not big into insulting other people’s religions but this needs to be forcibly fought. As for a Fatwa, bring it on, We are AMERICANS! If you come for one of us you come for ALL OF US! You want to kill me? So what! Everybody dies, but I’m not surrendering my 1st Amendment rights that have been given to me as a gift by thousands who fought to preserve them for an extra few days.

Let’s double down. My name is Peter Ingemi. My ancestors came here from Sicily 100 years ago. I am an American and I defy you.

It’s a disgrace that America has forgotten Molly Norris, it’s a bigger disgrace that she is still in hiding for her life due to Islamic extremists.

But the idea that Americans would attempt to use the violence of Radical Islamists to suppress their political enemies 1st Amendment rights is in my mind one of the most loathsome things I’ve seen.

And consider, even the deluded Islamic murderer acts because they think they are serving God, Kimberlin & Co are simply serving their political ends and whatever masters are paying the bill.

Any person who would fight back to back with these men are fools.

Yesterday we talked Hamas now lets talk Islam in our series of the common theme of the left series.

Item: This story that has gotten very little press in the three days since it did:

Four Southern California men have been charged with plotting to kill Americans and destroy U.S. targets overseas by joining al-Qaida and the Taliban in Afghanistan, federal officials said Monday.

The defendants, including a man who served in the U.S. Air Force, were arrested for plotting to bomb military bases and government facilities, and for planning to engage in “violent jihad,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said in a release.

Four men what kind of men?

A federal complaint unsealed Monday says 34-year-old Sohiel Omar Kabir of Pomona introduced two of the other men to the radical Islamist doctrine of Anwar al-Awlaki, a deceased al-Qaida leader. Kabir served in the Air Force from 2000 to 2001.

The other two – 23-year-old Ralph Deleon of Ontario and 21-year-old Miguel Alejandro Santana Vidriales of Upland – converted to Islam in 2010 and began engaging with Kabir and others online in discussions about jihad, including posting radical content to Facebook and expressing extremist views in comments.

They later recruited 21-year-old Arifeen David Gojali of Riverside.

Oh Islamic men, strangely enough Al Qaeda doesn’t have a lot of luck recruiting Methodists. Jim Treacher opines:

Supporters of Islamic terrorism? In Southern California? Talk about hiding in plain sight.

Okay, you can now forget this ever happened. And by no means should you try to connect it with any other incidents, past or future. It’s just another in a long line of completely unrelated events, and it’ll stay that way unless you want to reveal yourself as a racist.

Any questions, racist?

Yes you would be racist to bring up this just as you are intolorant if you object to gay marriage…with some exceptions:

A female teacher of Islamic religious studies is causing stir with her declarations. As reported by Der Standard, while giving a lesson on religion the woman allegedly declared among other things that homosexuals should be incinerated.

Note she didn’t say they couldn’t get married before they are incinerated. The reaction of the Islamic community?

The Islamic Religious Community presumes that after having spent a whole year near Mecca, she has lost sense of what one can say in a Western society.”

Note that, not what is true, not what is right, what can be said.

What can’t be said is any critique of Islam, no matter how true.

One of the things I’ve noticed about the current crisis are the parallels between the actions of this administration here and the actions of the Democrats during the DNC. Lets looks at the sequence of events:

Step 1: Democrat National Convention Party approves platform without word “God” and pulls Jerusalem language

Step 1: Middle East: US Embassy in Egypt issues statement condemning those who would hurt Muslim’s feelings

Step 2: DNC: Uproar over statements begins

Step 2: ME: Attacks on Embassy in Egypt/Libya

Step 3: DNC: After statement noticed Dick Durbin and Debbie Wasserman Schultz double down on new platform.

Step 3: ME: Embassy Doubles Down repeats the statement

Step 4: DNC: New media address issue DNC gets worried

Step 4: ME: Mitt Romney issues embargoed statement on attacks & Embassy statement

Step 5: DNC: By an odd coincidence after a bad web cycle platform changed (with comical results)

Step 5: ME: By an odd coincidence around the same time as the Romney Statement hits reporters e-mails the White House suddenly disavow the Embassy statements (based on MSNBC timeline)

Step 6: DNC MSM makes light of platform change, but Insists it was Obama’s Idea

Step 6: ME MSM make like of embassy statement attacks hitting Romney instead but insists Statement wasn’t from White House

Step 7: DNC Over 500K+ views of Booing God video, Congressman Allen West uses video in ad in Florida

Step 7: ME Mitt Romney makes statement condemning attacks, admin reaction and defends 1st Amendment

Step 8: DNC Media ignores the video and surrogates call talk of it “Trolling”

Step 8: ME: MSM plays down Mitt’s live press statements coordinates attack on Timing during Q & A.

Step 9: DNC MSM pretends God stuff didn’t happen and goes with the narrative of the success of Clinton/Obama speeches

Step 9: ME: MSM plays down embassy statement goes with the narrative of Mitt Romney’s timing

Bottom line the plan is path is the same, make a bad move, support it, when it starts to backfire deny it and then decide on a new narrative and stick with it.

This is not a coincidence this is what they do.

Progress in securing rights and opportunities for women in Islam have been few and far between yet another lady has shown that Jihad is one area where women continue to challenge the glass ceiling.

A Quebec activist who fought the stereotyping of Muslims was charged with supporting terrorism on Friday after an RCMP investigation linked her to an alleged scheme to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Mouna Diab, 26, was charged with committing a crime “for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group,” the RCMP said in a statement. She faces a possible life sentence if convicted.

The Laval woman was arrested at Montreal’s Trudeau airport last year and accused of violating an international arms embargo targeting Lebanon, but police added the far more serious terrorism charge on Friday.

I am women here I come watch me go and run some guns…

Update: It does make sense in one respect, women have been a major part of the Israeli armed forces for years.

The Pentagon under Obama has made an interesting decision.

Pushed by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) the Pentagon removed a target in their shooting range depicting an Islamic Woman with a gun

In their objection CAIR said:

Nihad Awad, executive director of the Washington-based council, said in the letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta that the target “is offensive and sends a negative and counterproductive message to trainees and to the Muslim-majority nations to which they may be deployed.”

With a Obama administration ever mindful of Islamic Sensibilities the Pentagon pulled the target figuring that of course we aren’t going to be seeing Islamic Women doing these kind of attacks…

…apparently they have never met Samantha Lewthwaite.

Samantha Lewthwaite, 28, who is wanted for possessing explosives and conspiring to make bombs, has been on the run with her three children since she escaped a swoop on terrorist suspects in Mombasa in December.

She has now been linked to last Sunday’s attack on the Jericho Beer Garden in the Kenyan city.

But but CAIR told us Islamic women just don’t DO these kind of things

“Yes, I am woman but I am woman who believes in Jihad and supremacy of Islam.

“With all this pressure I broke down in tears… Jihad is an obligation that we must accept – so today I’m over my fear and my tears are dry.”

I am women watch me kill…

No word from CAIR yet if they think her actions are “offensive and sends a negative and counterproductive message”. Or perhaps Feminists noting her husband was one of the 7/7 suicide bombers consider this a triumph for Women’s equality in Islam. After all not only has she carried out her attack but unlike her husband as he had the good sense not to blow herself up has the ability to kill again

Anyone you can kill I can kill better…

Perhaps if they haven’t destroyed the target they can send it to England.

Update: DaWife points out that she is not only killing people just as good as a man but is doing so while on the run with three children in tow.

I wonder what Anne Marie Slaughter will say about that?

Update 2: Let me point out that Pam Geller who deserves special mention for finding this story. The days of the jihadists will be numbered when people start listening to Pam.

The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, our goal is $3000 and any help is appreciated. For details click here for the progress check the thermometer to the right and to kick in hit DaTipJar”.

I’ve not focused on anti-jihad stuff lately as I’ve been busy with the campaigns, but that doesn’t mean the left Palestinians haven’t been shoveling it.

Palestinian Minister for Captives Affairs Ataollah Abu Sabah said Palestinian prisoners are suffering harsh and inhuman conditions in Israeli jails, and stressed that Israeli prisons are much more horrible than those of the Nazis’.

Granted this is being said to an Iranian news agency but this is the shoveling that the far left buys. Simple fact, “Palestinians” walk out of Israeli jails alive.

Meanwhile the work of hating jews:

Hatemongers tagged a heavily Orthodox Brooklyn neighborhood with anti-Semitic graffiti over the weekend, targeting two homes, an apartment building and a yeshiva, police sources said today.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the Midwood swastika-painting spree, law-enforcement authorities said.

The Nazi symbols were found in multiple spots along with the vile message “Die Jews.”

“People are very concerned in light of the fact that [such anti-Semitic acts are] almost a daily occurrence,” said state Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn). “This is the heart of the Jewish community.”

and of killing Jews is apparently never done:

A suspected Hezbollah member arrested on Friday by police targetted Jews and Americans in Bangkok, Defence Minister Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapa said today.

The militant group’s plan was only to target certain public areas where large groups of Israelis and Americans were known to gather, such as Khao San Road, Gen Yutthasak told a news conference. No other provinces were on its list.

That’s why I’m with Allen West and Zilla on the Marines taking a leak issue, it was stupid and they should be punished according to the rules of war but I have no patience for those who paint it as an atrocity, as Pam Geller puts it:

Did the three jihadis attack in America this week get this much press?

Did the Alabama Muslim shooting at police in order “to draw attention to islam” get as much press?

Did the devout Florida Muslim who was arrested for plotting to blow up nightclubs and a sheriff’s office and to use an explosive belt to “get in somewhere where there’s a lot of people” and take hostages get as much press?

Did another in a series of attacks on New Jersey synagogues get as much press? Or the fact that the Rabbi and his family were targeted when molotov cocktails were thrown in their bedroom window? Did they get press?

Did the Islamic slaughter of beautiful Zainab (below) and her sisters, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, in an honor killing get as much press? “May the devil shit on their graves. Is that what a daughter should be? Would a daughter be such a whore?” — Muhammad, the Muslim dad who honor killed his three daughters and wife.”God’s curse on them for generations. … They betrayed Islam.”

Did these women get any press? Did these girls?

Did yesterday’s public whipping of a convert out of Islam get any coverage?

Did the treasonous Congressman who was taking blood money to get Islamic “charities” that were funding jihad off the terror list get as much press?

Was the press outraged over the slaughter of blacks in Libya by the new jihadist government?

Was the press outraged over the beating and sodomy of Ghaddafi?

Was the press outraged by the sexual attack (while screaming “Jew!”) by the “freedom” protesters in Egypt?

I would give more weight to the opinion of those outraged by the Marines if they were as outraged by the Taliban shooting at them. Or as is the slogan of the blog Bare Naked Islam. It’s not Islamophobia if they are really trying to kill you.

The Philadelphia Story 1940

Yesterday Stacy McCain (who unless I’m very much mistaken has decided his dream Ambassadorship is finished) continued what appears to be his push of Rick Santorum as a Newt alternate. In his post last night he commented on one of the two really interesting moments of the debate, Rick Santorum saying aloud what everybody knows:

“Well, the folks who are most likely to be committing these crimes,” he replied. “Obviously Muslims would be someone you’d look at, absolutely. Those are the folks — the radical Muslims have been people committing these crimes by and large, as well as younger males. Not exclusively, but these are the things you profile to find your most likely candidate.”

There is a certain inherent power to saying the truth out loud and Stacy McCain noted that the target audience for that answer is not likely watching MSNBC this morning, nor caring if Politico has its knickers in a twist.

Although this statement will meet with much wailing and gnashing of teeth by the usual suspects, I’d like to say something that everybody should have figured it out by now:

It is my opinion that we as a government are profiling, have been profiling and will continue to profile without admitting it.

Be honest; how may of you reading this blog would have guessed on Sept 20th 2001 that a dozen years later there would not be another successful coordinated terror attack on this country?

Oh yes we had Major Nidal Hassan, we had the DC sniper but all of those operations have been pretty much inspired, rather than coordinated.

The record has been remarkable, and the reason we have such a remarkable record is because of what we do.

Does anyone seriously believe that we did not have mosques under surveillance during the Bush years? Does anyone seriously believe that the Obama administration, political beliefs not withstanding, would risk a successful attack on the US during their watch by NOT having mosques and Islamic institutions under their eye? Do you think our successes are sheer luck?

And lets go one step further, I submit that not only is the US doing profiling, but western countries such as Canada and England are as well, furthermore I submit that ISLAMIC countries are doing the same.

Surprised? Take a look at the body count at Religion of peace.com. They document over 18,000 attacks since 9/11 by radical Muslims. If you look at the attacks listed there are two facts that are incontrovertible:

1. The vast majority of attacks take place in Islamic countries.

2. The majority of the people slaughtered in these attacks are Muslims.

Don’t’ get me wrong, to the Islamist, the Christian, Jewish or non Muslim target is always preferred but there is just as much hatred, if not more for their fellow Muslims who are either, not worshiping correctly or faithfully enough or associating with infidels.

And there are not a whole lot of tears shed for fellow Muslims who are simply in the way when attacking a non-Muslim target.

Given this situation, if anyone thinks that the overwhelmingly autocratic rulers of these various countries who are trying to maintain their wealth and position are not keeping a close eye on these guys you are not paying attention. Such leaders live with the threat of murder every day and aren’t shy about shedding a little blood to keep the power and wealth they have.

So if it’s true, if we ARE profiling and the Muslim world is profiling and other western nations are profiling, then why are we pretending otherwise? Why is every shoe on every foot removed before going on an airplane? I can think of three reasons:

1. There is always the exception, the convert or the sucker to watch out for.

2. It is to our advantage to convince our enemies that we are NOT profiling them to keep them sloppy.

3. Maintaining the Social fiction. (the most important)

It is the third item I want to address.

As anyone who deals with people knows, there are many potentially uncomfortable moments in life when you are faced with dealing with a situation that’s best ignored. At a funeral for example or at the party of a friend you might run into a person you despise, but you choose not to make a scene for the sake of the host, the people you are with, or the grieving family. This is called tact.

Being an honorable person is important but part of that social compact of honor in the western style is allowing people a graceful exit. In the old dueling days, the wrong word and the wrong gesture could lead to standing back to back at 20 paces so people allowed themselves the fiction of congeniality to avoid such things. Consider this quote from the movie the Comancheros by Circuit Court Judge Thaddeus Jackson Breen:

Major here has told me what your troubles are. I’ve been thinking it over and in light of my forty years experience in legal jurisprudence, I have come to the positive conclusion that there ain’t no way to do this legal and honest… but being good sensible Texans, we’ll do it illegal and dishonest!

In order to prevent a miscarriage of justice the judge and the Texas Rangers create an acceptable fiction. Today you don’t see much of honor in western culture, but in Arab culture saving face isall. The honor of a family, of a tribe or of a country is so ingrained culturally that people will slaughter each other to protect it, after all a culture that has no compunction about slaughtering their own children over family honor is not going to lose a lot of sleep over killing a stranger of a different faith.

And that where this fiction comes in. I suggest we are profiling Islamists, Arab and Islamic leaders KNOW we are doing so and might even be helping us along, but it can’t be admitted publicly by our governments or theirs.

If and when such a thing is admitted in public, Muslim and Arabs honor, in a culture all about saving face, would demand action. Action that would be disastrous both for them and for us.

One might think that it is a better thing for all of this to come out in the open at once and have it taken care of once and for all, Patton thought that about facing the Soviet Union, but in the end the Soviets fell without having to fight a World War costing tens of millions of lives and untold destruction.

I submit and suggest that every time we go though a security check at an airport, we are fighting that long cold war, allowing the fiction to be preserved in the Arab face culture that gives us the ability to clandestinely work with governments and operatives around the world to not only slay our enemies who would hope to strike us, but to prevent a successful attack that would require the type of overwhelming response that would have an incredible cost in both blood and treasure worldwide.

Or as per the quote at the start of this post, C.K. Dexter Haven and George Kitterage both wish to end up with Tracy Lords, Haven is willing to give a pass to what he sees and George Kitterage is not. in the end it is C.K. and NOT George who ends up going down the aisle with Tracy. George might have felt better venting, but Dexter got the girl in the end.

In a political sense, Rick Santorum is right, saying it aloud and bluntly will likely win him votes and respect among American voters, but if he gets into the oval office and is briefed I would be very surprised if he didn’t discover that the measures he wants taken are already well in hand.

In his famous speech of Sept 21, 2001 President Bush talked of “… covert operations secret even in success.”

I submit that when the final history of this war is written we will be shocked at how many of those victories have been won on American soil.

…who was beaten to death by his teacher for Exposing his Crucifix in the classroom

“They beat my son so much in the classroom that he fled to the lavatory on the ground floor, but they followed him and continued their assault. When one of the supervisors took him to his room, Ayman was still breathing. The ambulance transported him from there dead, one hour later.”

Via Powerline who comments:

Such atrocities have become shockingly common, but have been met with almost complete apathy by Christians outside the Middle East.

And as Voice of the Copts could tell you, this isn’t the only example of our Islamic Friends message of peace and tolerance: dateline France a satirical magazine is firebombed for insulting Islam:

The offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris have been destroyed in a petrol bomb attack.

It comes a day after the publication named the Prophet Muhammad as its “editor-in-chief” for its next issue.

The cover of the magazine carried a caricature of the Prophet making a facetious comment.

French Prime Minister Francois Fillon has described the petrol-bombing as an unjustifable attack on the freedom of the press.

The American Catholic calls it the way Freedom of speech dies:

but don’t worry we have people ready to defend freedom of speech against Barbarians who bomb or murder such as the head of Time Magazine in Paris:

Okay, so can we finally stop with the idiotic, divisive, and destructive efforts by “majority sections” of Western nations to bait Muslim members with petulant, futile demonstrations that “they” aren’t going to tell “us” what can and can’t be done in free societies? Because not only are such Islamophobic antics futile and childish, but they also openly beg for the very violent responses from extremists their authors claim to proudly defy in the name of common good. What common good is served by creating more division and anger, and by tempting belligerent reaction?

…or not.

Ace of Spades notes that the title of the piece: Firebombed French Paper Is No Free Speech Martyr was originally : Firebombed French Paper: A Victim of Islam, Or Its Own Obnoxious Islamaphobia?

Here’s my version of Islamaphobia, of which I do suffer: I fear that radical Islamists will attempt to kill me or the ones I love or my fellow countryman because they feel their murderous religion demands it.

Am I obnoxious for having that fear?

Or am sentient?

Perhaps we should ask the family of Ayman Nabil Labib? Or even better lets ask Tarek Mehanna and his supporters.

Apparently due to the absolutely polarized nature of our political discussion and the rapid nature of mediums like Twitter many people no longer have the ability to pick up forms of humor such as sarcasm as they once did.

In the interest of the well-being of such folk The Emergency blog system for the humor impaired™ brings you this vital message.

When I re-tweet something like this:

This is an example of "Sarcasm"

I am not in fact claiming this attack happened because of “Islamaphobia” which is a term used by those who are:

1. Trying to suppress critiques of any action however barbaric by Islamic radicals

2. Actually “islamophobic” defined as “So afraid that if they don’t kowtow to radical Islam that they will be targeted.”

rather I am making fun of those who cry “Islamophoboa” at the drop of a hat as if this stuff doesn’t go on almost every day.

and when I re-tweet something like this:

Sarcasm example #2 This will be on the test

I am not in fact blaming my friend Pam Geller who I strongly admire; for the Muslims scalding a Christian convert in Norway:

A an ex-Muslim Convert to Christianity was attacked with boiling water and acid by Muslims at an ‘asylum reception centre’ in Norway on Friday.

“Ali” (Not his real name), an Asylum seeker in an immigration centre in Jaeren, Norway, had boiling water poured over him after he converted to Christianity and would not comply with Ramadan fasting rules. He and the other converts at the centre now fear for their lives

but am actually mocking those in the MSM and on the net who falsely tried to pin an act of mass murder on her in that very same country for the fools they are.

This concludes this message from the Emergency blog system for the humor impaired™. If you or someone you love is humor impaired I suggest an emergency dose of the Three Stooges or Monty Python. If it is an advanced case such as the Sarcasm impaired then administer doses of the Marx Brothers each day till they’ve seen all their movies.

Personally I think it’s all a case of Neo-Confederate-Sex-Panic.

And as the terror attacks come, so does the attempt to blame anybody but the true killers:

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak was one of the first to muddy the waters, claiming that “foreign hands… a terrorist operation that is alien to us,” rather than homegrown jihadists, carried out the attack. “All of Egypt is targeted,” Mubarak went on, digging deeper. “This blind terrorism does not differentiate between Copts and Muslims.”

Yet no mosque was targeted, and no Muslim was killed. It was a remarkable coincidence that this “blind terrorism” that did not “differentiate between Copts and Muslims” struck at a Coptic church, killing only Christians and no Muslims at all.

Yeah must have been the Flemish Menace at work, but no; Lebanese Shi’ite leader Sheikh Abdel Amir Kabalan finds a different culprit:

“This terrorist act bears the fingerprints of Zionists who keep on targeting religious sights [sic] and are working to … sow discord between Muslims and Christians.” I

Well who is going to back up nonsense like this: Well the Iranians are:

Although, at first glance, the finger is pointed at extremist Wahabi or Salafi groups, it goes without saying that no Muslim, whatever their political leanings may be, will ever commit such an inhumane act.

Attacks on churches in Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Tunisia can be analyzed in the context of a Zionist scenario aimed at driving a wedge between Muslims and Arab Christians.

Gee I don’t know why anyone would get the idea that Muslims would do violence:

Israel says it has charged two workers at the British Consulate in Jerusalem with arms trafficking, in connection to an alleged plot by militants to fire a rocket into a football stadium.

Or maybe this:

The latest bloody attack on Iraq’s Christians was brutal in its simplicity. Militants left a bomb on the doorstep of the home of an elderly Christian couple and rang the doorbell.
When Fawzi Rahim, 76, and his 78-year-old wife Janet Mekha answered the doorbell Thursday night, the bomb exploded, killing them, Mekha’s brother told The Associated Press on Friday. Three other people, apparently passers-by, were wounded.
“When I went there, I found both of them cut to pieces near the gate of their house,”

Or maybe this

According to eyewitnesses, a green Skoda car pulled up outside the church shortly after midnight. Two men got out, one of them talked shortly on his mobile phone, and the explosion occurred almost immediately after they left the scene. On the back of the Skoda was a sticker with the words “the rest is coming” (video of car explosion and Muslims shouting “Allah Akbar”).

It was reported that the bomb, locally made, had 100KG of explosives in addition to having nails, glass and iron balls inside. The strength of it not only caused glass panes to be shattered in all the neighborhood, but also made body parts fly into the building’s fourth floor, and to the mosque facing the church.

or this:

Eyewitnesses confirmed that security forces guarding the church withdrew nearly one hour before the blast, leaving only four policemen and an officer to guard such a big church and nearly 2000 people attending the midnight mass. “Normally they would have waited until the mass was over,” said el-Gezeiry.

Well it’s not as if respectable Egyptians are making wild charges

A coalition of Egyptian lawyers accused Israel of being behind an terror attack in Alexandria that killed 22 members of the Christian Copt sect attending midnight mass on New Year’s eve, Army Radio reported Monday.

And of course leading Muslim clerics are standing with the Pope in his request that world leaders protect Christians under attack, aren’t they?

The call, [from Pope Benedict to respect the lives of Christians…] following a deadly church car-bombing in northern Egypt, was “unacceptable interference in Egypt’s affairs,”

Although at least he condemned the bombing and met with the Coptic Pope.

One problem with the argument blaming Israel is the tactic involved as Captain Ed explains:

The bomber died in the blast, according to Egyptian officials, which would tend to rule out the Mossad, which doesn’t exactly have a track record of conducting suicide bombings.

See it’s gotta be the Flemish menace! But when it comes to killing Christians, Andrew Sullivan manages to blame Bush.

Stacy McCain while writing on the subject of Frank Rich’s column ( a painful task always since it involves reading it) accidentally or on purpose crystallizes the difference between Radical Islam and mainstream religion that Pam Geller made points about yesterday on my show.

Rich decries the pulling of a taxpayer-funded Christmas exhibit that had ants crawling over a crucifix and called those who demanded it be removed bigots and homophobes.

Stacy’s take-down of the self-righteous Mr. Rich should of course be read in full but it is this sentence that is of interest to me.

That article prompted William Donohue of the Catholic League to send suicide-bombers to maim and murder innocent women and children ask Catholics to call the museum and complain.

And herein lies the difference. Roman Catholics call and complain, radical jihadists don’t.

By an odd coincidence an even better example of this difference became apparent yesterday. Another person acting on behalf of a different religion that Mr. Rich doesn’t deign to critique decided to voice his objects to a set of cartoons in a slightly different fashion as reported by Mr. Rich’s own paper:

One man was killed and two other people were injured when two explosions hit the heart of Stockholm’s city-center shopping district on Saturday evening, the police in the Swedish capital said. The country’s foreign minister called the blasts a terrorist attack, and an e-mail to news organizations minutes before the blasts seemed to link them to anger over anti-Islamic cartoons and the war in Afghanistan.

Although many right leaning bloggers decided to condemn this act of barbarous terror Mr. Rich has however decided to courageously spend his time critiquing American citizens who object to their tax dollars being used to offend them and decided to peacefully exercise their 1st amendment rights to make their objections known.

Mr. Rich, as an elite journalist of the left, has the courage to see beyond mere murder to locate the real danger to our society.

Plus he knows Catholics won’t harm him for criticizing them.

Any questions?
