Doctor Who: The Face of Evil 1977

The cycle has begun again, a bunch of Islamists slaughter a bunch of Brits and even as the blood is still flowing the media lashes out, not at those who are killing the innocent, but at those who would unapologetically name those who kill them while insisting that we must take into account the feelings of Muslims who had nothing to do with the carnage.

The most frustrating thing about the situation is it doesn’t seem to matter how many times a Pam Geller, or a Robert Spencer warn people about what’s happening, it doesn’t matter how many attacks from all over the world are listed by the Religion of Peace website (all documented) the greater public simply refuses to acknowledge the reality.

Furthermore the real problem in a sense is the so called “moderate” followers of Islam which supposedly outnumber the radicals by far, yet somehow they never seem inclined to purge this cancer from their religion or restrain their fellows. Furthermore they are not forthcoming concerning their fellows and terror, indeed there have been reports of people being advised not to corporate with the FBI and police investigating radicals within their midst.

Perhaps it’s a lost cause, but let me try one more time to explain the situation in a way our liberal friends might understand.

Moderate Muslims are the German baker in the 9th episode of Band of Brothers.

Let me set up the clip. A patrol from easy company is going through the woods the scene suddenly changes to Sgt. Perconte running into town has come across their first death camp.

Perconte: Major Wintes, sir…We found something out on patrol and…We came across this–
Major Winters: What? What? Frank? Frank what is it?
Perconte: I don’t know sir

They come to the camp, shocked what they see and when they question prisoners in the camp they discover what it’s about:

Joseph Liebgott: He says it’s a work camp for…”Unerwuenschter.” I’m not sure what the word means, sir. Uh, “unwanted,” “disliked,” maybe?
Cpt. Nixon: “Criminals?”
Joseph Liebgott: I don’t think “criminals,” sir. Verbrecher?
Camp prisoner: Verbrecher? Nein, nein.
Joseph Liebgott: No.
Camp prisoner: Ärzte, Musiker, Beamter, Bauern…
Joseph Liebgott: Doctors, musicians…
Camp prisoner: Schreiber, Schneider, Intellektuelle…
Joseph Liebgott: Tailors, clerks, farmers, intellectuals. I mean, normal people.
Camp prisoner: Juden. Juden. Juden.
Joseph Liebgott: [softly] They’re Jews.
Camp prisoner: Pole, Ziegeuner.
Joseph Liebgott: Poles and Gypsies.

The people in the camp are starving so the troops immediately head into town and start grabbing all the food they can carry and that is where we see the German Baker who is outraged that all of his wares that he worked so hard to bake are being taken but Pvt Webster is having none of it. Here is the text of their exchange:

David Webster: Shut up! I said, shut up, you Nazi fuck! [grabs baker]
German Baker: Ich-ich bin kein Nazi! (I’m not a Nazi)
David Webster: Oh, you’re not a Nazi? My mistake, you fat fucking prick. What about a human being? Are you one of those, or are you going to tell me that you never smelt the fucking stench? [of the nearby concentration camp]
German Baker: Toten sie mich nicht! Bitte toten sie mich nicht! (“Don’t kill me! Please don’t kill me!”)   Ich verstehe nicht was du da sagst! (I do not understand what you say)
Pvt. Joseph Lesniewski: Leave him alone, Web. He says he doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
David Webster: Bullshit.

Naturally we as Americans are with Webster here and have nothing but disgust for the German Baker, but just for a moment consider the situation the Baker was in.

He is a German, living in a city of Germans, in a culture that has completely embraced the values of Nazism. We don’t know what he actually thinks about any of this stuff, so let’s ask the one basic question obvious question:

Even if the Baker had a moral objection to what was going on, was there any way, said Baker could, act on that objection to the what was being done at the camp without ending up either dead or in the camp himself?

Short answer: There isn’t!

There is a reason why we celebrate those who resisted the Nazi’s because it took a huge amount of moral courage to take a step the could die or (and many did). That kind of courage is not the norm, it’s the exception.

And that brings us to our “moderate Muslims” in the west and elsewhere.

The vast majority of said Muslims, particularly in Europe may be in the west, but have not assimilated. They remain within their enclaves, within a culture that still embraces Sharia, in which the values of radical Islam are openly expressed (in languages other than English of course) furthermore large portions of their families still live in the Arab world.

What happens if such a person sees some within that community preaching or embracing jihad and decide to talk?

Will such a person be rejected by their community, their family both here or in the old country? Will their family either at home or in the old country be subject to retaliation for talking? Will they fear for their lives? After all right now life is cheap in Libya, or Syria, or Iraq or elsewhere in the Arab world.

And if this is a risk in the west, multiply that risk by 100 back in the Arab world when something like the attacks on Coptic Christians in Egypt.

That’s the reality, we aren’t counting on the average Muslim to help us stop terror, we are counting on Muslims immersed in a different cultural norm to not only have our moral norm, but have the courage to act on those norms in the face of extraordinary risk.

For all the increased policing, better security or improved surveillance that’s the bottom line. Unless we consider one other thing about that German Baker.

He was ready to deny the Nazi’s when he was more afraid of the Americans than he was of his fellow Germans.

If you want to get the average unassimilated Muslim to take the risk necessary to stop terrorists within their community, they have to be less afraid of what their fellows will do if they talk then they are of what we will do if they remain silent.

As ever, Mark Steyn shouts into the wilderness, noting that, in the wake of the Islamic terror bombing in Manchester, England, UK politicians are all on-message, lamenting “sowing of division” as the alleged goal of yet another set of “lone” wolves.

When death stalks the land, make no mistake: He may look like a grim reaper, but he’s really a grim sower. An entire sowing bee of experts has so decreed. Indeed, in their warnings about sowing division, our betters are so non-divided that they give off the faintly creepy whiff of fellows all reading off the same cue card helpfully biked round to them by the Central Commissar ten minutes after the “incident” occurred.

You non-experts might think this a fairly crude sleight of hand – that concerns about “division” is a not so subtle way of suggesting that the real problem isn’t guys like Salman Abedi waiting with his nail bomb at the exit to the pop concert, but divisive types like you querying whether it’s prudent to keep importing more and more Islam into the western world. Well, screw you: if you disagree that the real danger here is the sowing of division, you’re just sowing even more division.

Pace The Toronto Star, I’m not sure it is “stating the obvious” to say that Monday’s attack was meant to “sow division”. What’s going on in Britain and Europe occurs because division has already been sown. It was sown by a careless political class that insisted there could be no questioning of a reckless demographic experiment. It is being reaped, as the division-sowing pop star Morrissey has divisively noted, by the political class’ hapless citizenry.

(This zombie-like messaging reminds me of 2008, when I noted how on-message American Democrat politicians were when they all asserted that “we can’t drill our way out of this”—the ‘this’ in question having been a so-called gasoline crisis.)

Europe and her citizens, just beginning to get hot.

But, even before I got to Steyn’s conclusion–stated much more vividly that I can or want to reword here–the retort was in my mind: no, Islamic terrorists are not trying to sow division. They are trying to sow a singularity: a world that is totally Islamic. And, I contend that British and EU politicians know exactly what they are doing. They’ve planted Islam in Europe and allowed it to grow, to their own specific ends. And, when the time comes, most of them will convert–or at least wear to public face of Islamic piety. (I can’t imagine them giving up their expensive champagne.)

To these politicians, a bunch of blown-up little English girls are just the broken eggs for the Omelet of Unity. One with no ham, of course.

British Police have named Saman Abedi as the Terrorist suicide bomber caused  the mass murder of Children in England after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester and it’s reported that another person has been detained in connection to the attack.

As I watch the usual suspects are sounding the same, the phrases “Lone Wolf”,  Islamophobia , love vs hate, and doing all it can to take the Islam out of the latest example of Islamic Terror.

Of course England has done its part to purge the Islam from Islamic Terror, by banning Pam Geller who today noted about the attacker in Manchester:

Just like the neighbors of San Bernadino jihad mass murderers, neighbors noticed strange goings-on at the house of the jihadis, but didn’t alert authorities for fear of being labeled racist-islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigots.

and Robert Spencer who wrote this on Manchester:

UK: Manchester jihad mass murderer known to authorities but “not thought to pose immediate threat”

They thought wrong. Why? Because they don’t have the first foggiest clue about what motivates these people, and what their goals are. So how can they possibly evaluate who is an “immediate threat” and who isn’t? They have to discount so much evidence that someone may be an “immediate threat” because to acknowledge the importance of that evidence would be “Islamophobic,” they’re left with nothing to go on.

While their exclusion from England, Ironically promulgated by the current prime minister Theresa May when she was home secretary, along with others like Michael Savage has drawn the approval of many media and cultural elites has been effective in preventing people from hearing their warning concerning Islamic Terror has been less than effective at preventing people from being killed by it.

Mark Steyn notes the contrast in tactics and results in England vs elsewhere

Poland and Hungary and Slovakia do not have Islamic terrorism because they have very little Islam. France and Germany and Belgium admit more and more Islam, and thus more and more terrorism. Yet the subject of immigration has been all but entirely absent from the current UK election campaign. Thirty years ago, in the interests of stopping IRA terrorism, the British state was not above preventing the internal movement within its borders of unconvicted, uncharged, unarrested Republican sympathizers seeking to take a ferry from Belfast to Liverpool. Today it declares it can do nothing to prevent the movement of large numbers of the Muslim world from thousands of miles away to the heart of the United Kingdom. It’s just a fact of life – like being blown up when you go to a pop concert.

But while Britian’s current tactics might not be generating fear in the hearts of potential terrorists as evidenced by this announcement:

British police arrested someone in connection with last night’s attack. Now they have intelligence that a second attack may be impending, pushing the terror threat level to “critical” for the first time in 10 years. How big is this cell?

The practical effect of raising the threat level is that the British military will be deployed to support the police in guarding “key sites” around the country. That’s not going to make libertarians happy, but luckily for Theresa May there aren’t many of those left in the UK.

it has successfully put the fear of being considered “Islamophobic” in the minds and hearts of the potential victims of said terror.

Alas what I wrote in 2011 continues to remain true:

Pam and those who warn of Radical Islam are Fiver calling for help for those caught in a snare. Her detractors are Cowslip the head of the snared warren. To oppose radical Islam requires a courage they don’t have and to openly admit appeasement acknowledges a cowardice they can’t bear. Much easier to not talk about it and preserve their illusion of dignity.

Pam and those like her bring up uncomfortable truths and for that they will be forever hated.

Or to put it another way.  The end of Islamic Terror will be in sight when we love our children more than we fear being called “Islamophobic”.

If the person involved was a 27 year old Trump supporter named “Bob” CNN would be running the story hourly breathlessly telling you of the police’s discovery of a private arsenal:

Minneapolis police uncovered an arsenal of guns and bomb-making devices during a routine arrest last week.

According to police, a man walked by a parked car in north Minneapolis about 5 p.m. Thursday and confronted the people inside after they threw food wrappers on the ground. They ignored him until he paused to get the car license number. The men then got out of the car and indicated they had guns, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday.

The man flagged down officers, the complaint says, but the men from inside car continued to yell at him and resisted the officers’ attempts to control the situation. The men were insistent they needed to be near the car because a drone was coming to deliver a package, the complaint said. Because of the suspicious circumstances and fear for the man’s safety, the men were placed in the squad while officers searched their car.

Inside, the officers found a hand grenade, handgun, assault rifles and magazines and a large quantity of ammunition, the complaint said. They also found cellphones, computers and electronics equipment, including drone parts.

But because this story  is about a “Minneapolis” man named Abdullah N. Alrifahe you won’t find the story on NBC, CBS, ABC or CNN.  It will be considered a local story not worthy of any attention from the National Press who would much rather report the latest breathless story from from unnamed sources that will supposedly bring down Donald Trump.

Unexpectedly!

I must say nothing amazes me more than this meme that we keep hearing after very single attack by an Islamist:

The CNN report itself — the written report, not the clip above — is another marvel, making the story about everything else but the terrorist attack. Paragraph after paragraph of quotes appear in the article about religion of peace, worries about backlash, members of the Somali community worried that their families may have been victimized, before it actually gets to the attacks. It barely mentions that Adan demanded to know the religion of his victims, noting only that he “made a reference to Allah” and “asked at least one person if they were Muslim.” That sounds rather … polite, no? Well, except for the whole attempted-mass-murder thing.

The big story here isn’t the “potential for backlash.” It’s the terrorist attack that nearly took nine or more lives in the sleepy community of St. Cloud. Maybe other outlets will focus on the real story.

The “concern about a backlash” meme is so often repeated that it’s rarely questioned by the left, but two words illustrate how idiotic it is:

Emmett Till

For those of you who don’t know your history Emmett Till was a 14 year old chicago boy who was lynched during a visit to Mississippi in 1955 for the horrible crime of supposedly flirting with a white woman which apparently upset the sensibilities of certain folks.

It’s worth noting that Emmett Till’s murder was not unique in the era of Jim Crow:

From 1882-1968, 4,743 lynchings occurred in the United States.  Of these people that were lynched 3,446 were black.  The blacks lynched accounted for 72.7% of the people lynched.

That works out to about 1 black man lynched every ten days during that period of time.

What does this have to do with Islamic Terror?  Think about it for a second.

Ask yourself how you would react to local police after a lynching during the days of Jim Crow stating:  “They were unclear on the motivations for the attack” and local and national newspapers gave credence to such a statement?

Ask yourself how you would react if after a lynching local and national media in unison said the primary thing to worry about would be a backlash against whites over lynchings of blacks?

Ask yourself how you would react if local and national media insisted that the Jim Crow culture had no bearing on the decision of groups of “lone wolfs” who lynched blacks or that any connection with the culture of Jim Crow to lynching was illegitimate?

Because when you claim that we are unsure of the motivations on Islamic Terror, when you go on about a potential backlash against Islam over terror attacks and you insist that the culture of Islam has nothing to do with the motivations of terrorists & that moderate Islam has no obligation to help the FBI weed out potential terrorists, you sound just like an apologist for Jim Crow circa 1930.

Closing thought as I’ve already said during Jim Crow you had one black man lynched every 10 days. As of this writing it has been 5488 days since Sept 11 2001 and in that time there have been 29,258 attacks by Islamic terrorists worldwide, an average of one attack every 4 1/2 HOURS a rate over 53 times the rate of lynching in the US during Jim Crow.

By John Ruberry

This year could end up being the most tumultuous year since 1968. During that year there was of course a heated presidential election, the Democrats nominated Vice President Hubert Humphrey, who represented the status quo, one that was not especially popular. The Republicans chose a former vice president, Richard Nixon, whose critics decried as someone who presented a dark vision of America. Sound familiar?Chicago Police SUV

Missing of course in 2016 is a third-party presidential candidate who can win electoral votes; in 1968 avowed segregationist and renegade Democrat George Wallace fed on racial discord–and there is plenty of that this year, most of it brought on by leftist groups such as Black Lives Matter, which seems very keen on protesting the rare shootings of African-American criminal suspects but is largely on silent on the daily carnage in cities such as Chicago, where so far this weekend over thirty people, most of them black, have been shot. In most of these shootings it’s very likely that other blacks pulled the trigger.

What is largely forgotten about the 1968 election is that it was the first presidential contest since Reconstruction in which a southern blacks voted in large numbers.

We’ve progressed far.

The penultimate year of the turbulent 1960s also brought us the Tet Offensive of the Vietnam War, North Korea’s seizure of the USS Pueblo, the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King–the anger from the latter caused dozens of deadly riots in American cities–the May Insurrection in France, and the turmoil of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

John ruberry
John “Lee” Ruberry of the Magnificent Seven

I’m sure I overlooked something.

This year has seen several deadly Islamist terrorist attacks, including last month’s Orlando night club shooting and the Nice, France truck killings, two assassination tragedies–one in Dallas and the other in Louisiana–where multiple police officers were killed, “Brexit,” Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, the attempted coup in Turkey, and of course the frenzied US presidential campaign.

Remember: We still have five more months in 2016.

On the positive end, the Apollo 8 mission brought the moon within reach at the end of 1968.

Let’s hope 2016 ends with good news.

Oh, it was also in late 1968 when Star Trek’s “Plato’s Stepchildren” episode aired. Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura delivered American television’s first kiss between a black and a white, and this embrace was not an innocent peck on the cheek.

As Mitch Albom wrote in Tuesdays With Morrie, “Love wins. Always.”

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit. And yes, he was alive in 1968.

I was going to write about my progress with my second novel and my two books—one about Kenya. But this happened today in Istanbul.

A gun and suicide bomb attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport has killed at least 28 people and injured up to 60.

Up to three attackers were involved, with one reportedly opening fire with a Kalashnikov as they targeted an entry point to the terminal.

Recent bombings in Turkey have been linked to either Kurdish separatists or the so-called Islamic State group.

This looks like a major, co-ordinated assault, the BBC’s Mark Lowen reports.

This morning, I read a piece on the killing of Mohamed Dulyadayn via U.S. air strike. Dulyadayn was the mastermind of the 2015 massacre at Garissa University in Kenya—a Christian university–where 148 students and professors were murdered. Dulyadayn was one of the leaders of al-Shabaab, the regional Islamic terror group.

This morning, just now and many times in the past, it has occurred to me that the West doesn’t pay that much attention to Islamic terror strikes when they occur in areas perceived to be Islamic, even though the body count is often much higher than in perceived non-Islamic areas—Paris and New York City notwithstanding.

As I’ve pointed out many times, Kenya is primarily a Christian nation, but because it is in Africa, where Islam had nearly free rein until the beginning of the European colonial era at the end of the 19th century and because Kenya has been at war with neighboring Somalia, terror attacks there seem common to the Western eye.

And, of course, Istanbul is the largest city in Islamic Turkey.

My observation is not a criticism. What it is intended to do is to point to something deeper: that we expect Muslims to murder people, even their co-religionists. So when they act up in a place where they are highly concentrated, it’s horrifying, but there isn’t as much outrage as when they shoot up a public benefits center in San Bernardino or a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Does that say something about us or about them?

Answer: yes.

RIP, Istanbul victims.

I’d like to say I was shocked at this story at real clear politics:

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

Or to rephrase it: We are going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

When I read this the first thing that came to mind was something I saw at the National Press Club last week.

On a big screen when you come in there is a statement concerning Donald Trump’s decision to remove the credentials from the Washington Post meaning that while they can cover his events they don’t have the access that other members of the press do.

It was presented with the self righteousness of a group that does not hint that they can still cover the events and report on them, only on Trump assault on free speech, or that there is a reason why the press is often described as “Democrats with bylines”.

Now while one can debate this move by the Trump campaign maybe it’s just me but I’d say the suppression of the record on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the United States homeland is something that the national press club might find objectionable.

So my question is this: Will the National Press Club put up a display objecting just as strongly to the censoring of the public record by this Administration on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US for all Americans as they will Donald Trump?

I suspect to ask the question is to answer it.

by baldilocksBaldilocks mini

Of course, people are still talking about the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack. And many of the funerals are probably being conducted this weekend. And the government, after so miserably failing to protect Americans once again is contemplating at least two methods of stripping law-abiding Americans from two areas of protection mandated in the Bill of Rights.

After San Bernardino, I remember wondering when the next time a Muslim would shoot up/blow up another set of Americans. No great insight was necessary to predict that it would occur again and now it has. And there will be a next time.

And the ridiculous shifting of blame from Muslims onto Christians will happen again, as well. How high will that mountain of lies be by then?

Funny thing (not funny ha-ha)—I believe that the blaming of Christians for something that an enemy of Christians does is a meme set in motion by a finite and unnamed group of government actors—a tactic made easier by Social Media, especially Twitter. As a result, individual anti-theists—along with other haters of the Church–grab it and run with it. This finite group and its witting and unwitting lackeys couldn’t care less whether the connection between being against same-sex marriage and murdering homosexuals makes sense or not. And the lackeys hope that the government cracks down on Christians. Why? Because we disagree with them.

But what is the hope of the unnamed government group? This isn’t difficult to predict either.

Every mass shooting is an opportunity for this unnamed group to stir up the hue and cry to ban guns. Additionally, every mass shooting not involving blacks as perpetrator or victim is an opportunity to stir up hatred toward Christians. In the one recent case where the victims were black Christians–Charleston— the unnamed group had to pivot to the Confederate flag as the thing to be denounced.)

But guns are always the primary target—if you’ll pardon the pun. Always. Because guns in the hand of citizens is the last defense against what the unnamed government group wants; complete control of the American citizenry—all races, straights, gays, Christians, Jews, atheists, Hindus, Sikhs…

You’ll notice I left Muslims off the list. The unnamed group wants them to have guns and to conduct more terror. That’s proven by both the events in San Bernardino and in Orlando…and many other events I’m not inclined to look up at the moment. And the unnamed group wants other chaotic elements–think drug cartels–to keep their guns, too.

Should the banning of guns occur, these violent elements–and others like them–will run wild, causing the larger American populace to beg for government protection.

And we’ll get it. And it will be the worst thing that has ever happened in this country.

That’s the plan. But you already knew.

My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

Abe Lincoln

Yesterday I talked about the math that explains the Democrat Party’s decision to ignore the driver for the Orlando attack, that is Islamic Terror

The question then becomes: Why is the media treating this as a “too many guns issue”.

One might think the logical conclusion is the MSM is an extension of the Democrat party and reports news accordingly as explained by RS McCain noting another recent crime targeting gays that’s been underreported:

Do you think CNN or the New York Times will notice a crime like this? No, of course not, because the perpetrators are black and the lesbian who got assaulted is white, and therefore it’s strictly local news.
The same principle explains why, when a bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic kills 49 people in Orlando, it’s not a story about the danger posed by bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic. Instead it’s an excuse to lecture Americans about how much we hate gay people. The principle that determines how the media covers such stories is always the same: “How can we report this in a way that helps the Democrat Party?”

It is the last sentence of his argument that is most relevant and the proof of this comes via a Rasmussen poll linked by Ann Althouse

“Among voters who consider the mass murders in Orlando, Florida this past weekend primarily a terrorist attack, Trump leads Clinton 64% to 16%.”
“Clinton posts an 83% to four percent (4%) lead among those who see the killings as chiefly a gun control issue….”

If these numbers are correct then for the MSM to be successful in their attempt to aid and abet a Democrat victory in the fall it not only becomes necessary for the MSM to make the Jihadist attack by a registered gay democrat a gun control issue but it becomes vital that any indication that this was indeed a terror strike against America in general and the gay community in particular be quashed.

Remember the paramount object for the media is to elect democrat and not to report on islamic terror or anti-gay violence.  If they could elect democrats by reporting on islamic terror & anti-gay violence, they would do so.  If they can election democrats by ignoring anti-gay violence and islamic terror they will do that, an if they can elect democrats by reporting on some anti-gay violence and islamic terror attacks while ignoring others they will do that too.
