My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.

Abe Lincoln

Yesterday I talked about the math that explains the Democrat Party’s decision to ignore the driver for the Orlando attack, that is Islamic Terror

The question then becomes: Why is the media treating this as a “too many guns issue”.

One might think the logical conclusion is the MSM is an extension of the Democrat party and reports news accordingly as explained by RS McCain noting another recent crime targeting gays that’s been underreported:

Do you think CNN or the New York Times will notice a crime like this? No, of course not, because the perpetrators are black and the lesbian who got assaulted is white, and therefore it’s strictly local news.
The same principle explains why, when a bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic kills 49 people in Orlando, it’s not a story about the danger posed by bloodthirsty Muslim fanatic. Instead it’s an excuse to lecture Americans about how much we hate gay people. The principle that determines how the media covers such stories is always the same: “How can we report this in a way that helps the Democrat Party?”

It is the last sentence of his argument that is most relevant and the proof of this comes via a Rasmussen poll linked by Ann Althouse

“Among voters who consider the mass murders in Orlando, Florida this past weekend primarily a terrorist attack, Trump leads Clinton 64% to 16%.”
“Clinton posts an 83% to four percent (4%) lead among those who see the killings as chiefly a gun control issue….”

If these numbers are correct then for the MSM to be successful in their attempt to aid and abet a Democrat victory in the fall it not only becomes necessary for the MSM to make the Jihadist attack by a registered gay democrat a gun control issue but it becomes vital that any indication that this was indeed a terror strike against America in general and the gay community in particular be quashed.

Remember the paramount object for the media is to elect democrat and not to report on islamic terror or anti-gay violence.  If they could elect democrats by reporting on islamic terror & anti-gay violence, they would do so.  If they can election democrats by ignoring anti-gay violence and islamic terror they will do that, an if they can elect democrats by reporting on some anti-gay violence and islamic terror attacks while ignoring others they will do that too.

Just after the Islamic Terror attack on the gay nightclub Pulse, Facebook, you know those guys who insist they are not censoring conservatives, decided to take strong action…against one of the most prominent opponents and a onetime target of Islamic terror Pam Geller

When Breitbart News and Geller objected they followed up by suspending Geller herself.

Just hours after they removed her 50,000-strong group, “Stop Islamization Of America,” Facebook has issued prominent Islam critic Pamela Geller with a 30-day ban.

Well apparently Facebook has discovered that such actions directed against a person targeted for assassination by Islamic Terrorists in response to her critique of the mass slaughter of Gays by an islamic terrorist not only tends to draw unfavorable press but really doesn’t play well with a large segment of the population.

You spoke — you wrote, emailed, called, and YOU succeeded in getting my page and my privileges back. THANK YOU and thank Breitbart for raising a ruckus. Communicating and sharing information is the key to building an army of Davids to defeat the enormous enemedia myths and lies. Each one of my readers is a one-man media organization educating those in your sphere of influence. This is a war on freedom of speech in the age of jihad and sharia. And Facebook is key.

Now this would be just another story about a company backing off after a bad decision but what really got my goat was this quote from Breitbart’s coverage of Facebook’s volte face of the email Facebook sent to Pam after the reinstatement of both groups.

“A member of our team accidentally removed something you posted on Facebook. This was a mistake, and we sincerely apologize for this error. We’re since restored the content and you should now be able to see it.”

I don’t know what bothers me more, the sheer mendacity of that statement or the insult to my intelligence required to expect me to believe it.

On the bright side it’s very nice of Facebook for doing their best to turn my decision not to join facebook into a positive virtue.

Closing question:

Alfred Hofstadter: So, after your husband passed, you never remarried?
Mary Cooper: No, just focused on work and the church.
Alfred Hofstadter: Ah. And what do you do?
Mary Cooper: I work at the church.
Alfred Hofstadter: Well, they’re lucky to have you.
Mary Cooper: Well, thank you.
Alfred Hofstadter: You’re welcome.
Amy: [To Sheldon] Do you realize what’s happening here?
Sheldon Cooper: Yeah, I do. They’re filling up on bread and ruining their meal.

The Big Bang Theory The Convergence Convergence 2016

I’ve been watching in disbelief as Barack Obama goes whole hog defending Islam on TV and watching CNN & the entire MSM not only highlighting those words and attacks on Donald Trump while being completely stunned that Mr. Trump is not backing down from his previous statements.

It’s as if the entire MSM has become Sheldon Cooper (without the genius) completely oblivious to what his happening in front of their faces.

Consider just yesterday the Media was all abuzz concerning Donald Trump’s words on the administration’s response to Islamic Terror.

And some like Jake Tapper were a bit shocked:

The gist is post Orlando Donald Trump suggests Barack Obama might not be all that down on defeating Radical Islam and gets the MSM to repeat that charge.

So how does the White House react? Do they ignore it and pursue the investigation of the terror attack? Does the president maintain a dignified silence while allowing surrogates in government to play the “have you no decency” card?

Nope, he respond in person and he doesn’t just respond in person he both defends Islam and defends not talking about radical Islam.

Yes you read that right. Less that 2 days after the most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US since 9/11 Donald Trump manages to get Barack Obama to defend Islam while the blood is still on the floor at Pulse.

But that’s not all, As soon as President Obama was done speaking MSM was covering his words, agreeing with his words, and contrasting his approach to the attacks in Orlando to Mr. Trump. They go all in spending the entire rest of the day repeating this again and again.

So let’s summarize:

After Islamic Terror attack Trump suggests Obama might be weak on Islamic terror

Obama responds by attacking Trump and defending Islam…two days after Islamic Terror attack.

Media repeats and amplifies Obama’s response defending Islam and repeating Trump’s attack. All of this Two days after an successful Islamic Terror attack.

The end result? Within a few days after the single most successful Islamic Terror attack since 9/11 by a man who Obama’s FBI decided was not a threat, Barack Obama is associated with Defending Islam from Trump, while Trump is associated with defending America from radical Islam.

Tuesday was Trump’s birthday, I don’t think the MSM or Barack Obama could have given him a better present.

Donald Trump has completely punked them, The country hasn’t seen such incompetence since the 1962 Mets. If Casey Stengel was a media guy he would be screaming: “Can’t anyone play this game?”

The answer to that question is apparently: Donald Trump.

Exit Question: How much would Donald Trump have paid to get such an image on CMM:

Donald Trump spoke today at St. Anselm college in Goffstown NH today, because it is Monday and I have my scheduled Eucharistic Adoration combined with the need to sleep I was not able to go there to cover Mr. Trump in person to ask Mr. Trump questions after his speech but watching the speech on CNN.

As a general rule a single speech isn’t a game changer, but this speech was because it articulated truths that are self evident, directly named the foe, Radical Islamic terror and called them out for what they are:

He talked about the fruits of denial from folks like Hillary I am not going to demonize and demagogue and declare war on an entire religion Clinton

“When it comes to radical islamic terror ignorance is not bliss, it’s deadly”

and said those days were over

“The days of deadly ignorance will end.”

Although in fairness “ignorance” is likely the wrong word, “denial” would to my mind be more accurate

The single biggest game change however in this speech was the acknowledgement that the Muslim community in the US has to make up its mind to work with law enforcement:

“The Muslims have to work with us, they know what’s going on”

That is the spike of the football, instead of putting the onus on Americans to play nice, the onus is put on Muslim Americans to decide what side they’re on and act accordingly.

I guarantee you millions of Americans hearing those words were nodding their heads.

If there is one thing in Trump’s speech that I disagreed with, it’s was this line:

“This president doesn’t know what he’s doing”

I disagree I think the president knows exactly what he is doing as to the why, that’s a great question.

I think this speech which clearly states aloud what a lot of people are thinking. Curt Anderson is spot on

What will the effect of this speech be, something like this:

Although I voted for Hillary in the primary, I now cringe inwardly with shame and embarrassment at having done so, and in November I will vote for Trump.

Why? Yes, I know that Trump is an a**hole, Trump is a clown, Trump is a motormouth buffoon. You don’t have to convince me of that. But he’s also the only person saying anything about putting the brakes on Islamic extremism, and in light of what happened last night in Orlando, suddenly that is the only issue that really matters when it comes to the health, well-being and safety of the queer community.

Now in fairness that was written before the Trump speech but I suspect a lot of people in the Gay community are thinking the same, but don’t dare say it aloud:

And you know what makes me angrier still? The fact that I have to hide my identity and remain anonymous in writing this essay. If I outed myself as a Trump supporter, I would be harassed and doxxed and shunned by everyone I know and by the Twitter lynch mobs which up until yesterday I myself led.

This is the day that Donald Trump wins the presidential election, that’s why CNN et/al will be focusing on his feud with the Washington Post.

Closing thought, if you want to know why the GOP lost in 2012 & 2008, here it is:

A source who works closely with the Trump campaign, granted anonymity in order to speak freely to NBC News, said after Sunday’s attack that the party had asked the candidate to offer condolences and then to stay silent.

My God these people are clueless

Here is the speech

Mary Cooper: [To Leonard] When your mom gets back, I’m gonna need to apologize for the way I spoke to her.
Penny: Well, come on now, she did kind of start it.
Mary: Doesn’t matter, a good Christian would’ve turned the other cheek. On the other hand, a good Texan would’ve shot her, so, I just kind of split the difference.

The Godfather Part 2  1974

Saturday night I got myself playing Civ five and ended up staying up all night so I was hearing about the Pulse shooting almost from the start and was able to follow the reactions on social media between turns and watched the news, only pausing long enough to do my podcast before finally hitting the sack just after 2:30 pm (finally got 4+ hours around 2 pm).

Before I went to bed I noticed both the coverage on the networks and the meme on twitter and it was all about protecting Islam and pushing guns as the cause for the mass murder in Orlando, the only exception was the several hours that Jake Tapper was on CNN where he played it straight.

When I woke up CNN was in full, “hatecrime not Islam mode” and on twitter the attacks on conservatives and defenses of islam was unrelenting.

Again this was less than 24 hours after 50+ were slaughtered and blood was still on the floor in Orlando.
And of course conservatives, supporters of the 2nd Amendment and Christians on twitter were under attack by the left for daring to warn them about the people who are trying to kill them.

This leads to two questions, both which are extremely disturbing:

How would the reaction currently being directed toward Conservatives & Christians by the left online be any different if a conservative 2nd Amendment Christian had actually done the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando rather than an Islamist?

The answer: In my opinion it wouldn’t be

Given the first question why should, when Islamic Terrorists target and murder those on the left, any Conservative Christian show any sympathy or expend any effort to protect these folks who hate us so from such attacks?

The answer to the 2nd question is rather easy, it’s a non-optional doctrine of Christianity directly ordered by Christ here:

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?

And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same?

Matthew 5:43-47

And that, along with the American in me outraged over an Islamic attack targeting my countrymen, will continue to trump the Sicilian in me, no matter how much the left attempts to convince me otherwise.

Some of these have already started to happen but I can only type so fast.

During any show that Jake Tapper is not hosting CNN and every other MSM network will do their best to mention guns, throw in the words “KKK” and “hate crime” into the discussion to avoid saying Islamic Terror.

Pam Geller and Robert Spencer wil not be spoken to by any major network.

Colleges will do their best to spin this, somehow blaming Trump.

Hillary Clinton and democrats will be saying Guns Guns guns and will not get any grief for it

Donald Trump will talk Islamic Terror, particularly if the shooter(s) are from abroad and will be under constant media attack for it.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will be pushed out front by CAIR as their regular spokes people will be very gingerly about defending homosexuality and homosexuals.

Despite their total lack of involvement every single White or Christian group that has ever said a bad thing about the LGBT community will be invoked in every media story out there.

Milo Yiannopoulos will write THE column on this attack telling gays it’s time to choose sides for their own survival. He will be mercilessly attacked for it but many gays will come to the same conclusion but not say it aloud for fear of backlash.

Democrats will continue to blame Trump for this attack.

Because the gay community was targeted the administration will be much more proactive than normal.

The leaders of the gay community will be completely torn by this attack as will Bernie Sanders supporters but the later at least will fall into line defending Islam within a week.

Christians of every denomination including the Pope will be praying for the victims, and will get no credit for it MSM will focus on Westboro Baptist instead.

The people who go nuts over the words “Blue Lives Matter” will be silent on the subject for a week or so.

I will be called a hater and a bigot for writing all of these things.

Update: The Mental Health card was played on CNN during Jake’s show, it will continue to be played to avoid going to Islam.

Update 2: I predict that the Transgender bathroom crowd will use this attack as a reason to push their bills “for the victims”.

Update 3: Exactly right

Update 4: Sally Kohn doing her best to prove me right as fast as possible

Update 5:
NBC quoting father “nothing to do with Islam” and going toward the Mass shooting angle , Brokaw urging talk about mass murder that suggests he correctly is worried about what this will do to the election.

Update 6: Two key updates Publius Forum

As the news broke that there had been a mass shooting at a gay bar in Florida, the gay community instantly erupted in accusations that Christians were responsible for the murderous act.

Read the entire post, it will be unsurprising.

And Newsbusters:

On Sunday, even after the FBI hinted the presence of a link to radical Islam, the panel on ABC’s This Week blamed the terrorist attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida on heated election rhetoric and guns in America. “I think we all ought to pause with what happened in Orlando today,” stated ABC’s Matt Dowd when asked if third party candidates could gain supporters, “And if we understand that all of the hateful thoughts become hateful words become hateful actions.”

Update seven: Just woke up after 4+ hours sleep and here is what I see:

Milo had done it

What sort of a man gets so angry by displays of affection, joy, and love that he chooses to gun down innocent people in a nightclub? A Muslim man. And if this one isn’t particularly religious, imagine how much worse the faithful must be.

America has to make a choice. Does it want gay rights, women’s emancipation, and tolerance for people of all nonviolent faiths — or does it want Islam?

From what I’m seeing online the choice of the left is Islam.

and the attempts at denial have been astounding

It’s amazing.

God knows nobody on the left does or cares.

Of all the things that have happened during the Obama years the lack of outrage over what happened to Molly Norris is the thing that , in my opinion, brings more disgrace to us as a nation than any other.

I’m still angry about both what happened to this leftist that I never met and I pray that I never lose that outrage. Because until she can come out of the shadows and live openly in America again we are not a free country.

If you don’t know who Molly Norris is odds are you’re not a regular reader you can find the posts where she is mentioned here.

Red Oak MosqueBy John Ruberry

Belgium–part French and part Dutch–has been a schizophrenic nation since its founding in 1830. But after last month’s deadly terror attacks in Brussels–which is one-quarter Muslim–the country may be coming together under “European values.”

The Belgian secretary of state for asylum and migration, Theo Francken, is proposing the what is being called “a newcomer’s statement,”  which covers non-European Union migrants who stay more than three months.

The plan is expected to become law later this year.  Migrants covered by the law will be forced to sign a pledge to not only to uphold European values, but to oppose terrorism and to report any possible terror attacks.

Those not integrating properly will be kicked out of Belgium.

Despite groups such as CAIR claiming that Islam and the West have shared values, the reality is much different.

Here is just a partial list of the cultural contrasts: Europeans usually marry whoever they want–and that includes members of the same gender–whereas Muslims often rely upon arranged marriages. Religion–if they have one–is a private affair for most Europeans, Muslims follow an absolutist faith that governs all segments of their lives; in fact many Muslims favor eschewing what they dismiss as “man-made law” for sharia, that is, Islamic law, which includes the amputation of hands for thieves and the stoning of people who have extra-marital affairs. Feminists may disagree but men and women enjoy equal rights in Europe. Muslim women are subservient to men as a rule.

Europeans for the most part like the continent the way it is–many Muslims want to culturally annihilate it and make it as Islamic as the Middle East.

If the Euro-Muslims win out it is their values that will be European ones.

Europe is in for a rough ride no matter what the outcome of this clash of civilizations.

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit.

Hornblower bowed, but as the Colonel remained unbending he stiffened to attention. He could recognize that type of man at once—the servant of a tyrant, and in close personal association with him, modeling his conduct not on the tyrant’s but on what he fancied should be the correct behaviour of a tyrant, far out-Heroding Herod.

C.S. Forester Flying Colors 1938

I mentioned this morning that it’s hard to comment on news stories on April 1st because you can’t tell what’s real an what’s not.

Hot Air apparently had the same problem.

I owe the MRC an apology for doubting them.

What is the story that the MRC reported that Hot Air couldn’t believe from the MRC? This:

The White House briefly pulled video of a press event on terrorism with Pres. Obama, and when it reappeared on the WhiteHouse.gov website and YouTube, the audio of Hollande’s translator goes silent, beginning with the words “Islamist terrorism,” then begins again at the end of his sentence.

Even the audio of Hollande saying the words “Islamist terrorism” in French have, apparently, been edited from the video.

It’s even worse than it sounds:

You know what the worst part is? Hollande didn’t say “Islamic terrorism,” which is the supposedly objectionable term. He said “Islamist terrorism.” “Islamist” was, I thought, a term that came into use precisely because it gave the speaker an efficient way to distinguish between “moderate Muslims” and the more jihad-minded. “Islamic” describes all things Muslim; “Islamist” describes a supremacist view in which Islam is the highest authority of the state. Many critics of Islam would dispute that there’s a meaningful distinction between those two, but Obama and Hollande certainly wouldn’t. ISIS may not be Islamic to Obama but it’s certainly Islamist. Point being, Hollande chose his words carefully here according to the White House transcript so as not to conflate the average Muslim with the jihadis he’s discussing — and the White House still censored him.

This is not just a function of Obama, it’s a function of the functionaries under him:

it is the work of those people on a lower level that contribute the most real world damage to Americans.

When President Obama is replaced in November it will be good for the country but just as good if not better will the symbolic cleaning of the Augean stables that the sweeping his radical cronies from DC will be.

As Glenn Reynolds Ed Driscoll put it:

BARACK OBAMA MORPHED INTO BASIL FAWLTY SO SLOWLY, I HARDLY EVEN NOTICED

I disagree, Barack Obama has been a joke since day 1 and frankly if I was Basil Fawlty I’d be insulted by the comparison.

Update: That was Ed Driscoll at Instapundit, not Glenn Reynolds

Update 2: Jim Treacher hits the ultimate Irony:

This is not okay. This is underhanded and cowardly. It’s positively Orwellian. Good lord, our government has lost its way so completely that I’m being forced to defend the President of France.

That’s pretty bad.

I’m back trying to get that elusive $61 a day for DaTipJar but lately I haven’t reported on my progress. Part of it has been I’ve been busy but the other part being the reports for March would be rather depressing.

If we made our $61 a day my annual Tip jar would come into today at $5185, it currently stands at $2857. That’s a deficit of $2328 an increase of nearly $1000 this month.

Or to put it bluntly As of March 26, we’ve made our goal up to Feb 15th a full 29 days behind our goal.

And it’s not due to a lack of traffic, our number in March remain consistent with the blog’s recovery from our previous doldrums as of today we are over 10,000 visits ahead of last March and on a pace to nearly meet March 2014 the final month before our unexpected traffic crash began.

Two men [original link unavailable].

Based on the accounts of witnesses and loved ones’ knowledge of the two men’s characters, a devastating picture emerges of that tragic morning. [SNIP]

When the first plane hit the building, [Abe] Zelmanowitz, 55, and [Edward] Beyea, 42, both systems analysts for Blue Cross Blue Shield, fled the office with their co-workers. The elevators were not working, and Beyea, a 300-pound man in a heavy mechanized wheelchair, could not get down the stairs, which were choked with streams of panicked workers. [SNIP]

“He couldn’t have left him,” said Zelmanowitz’s sister-in-law, Evelyn Zelmanowitz of Flatlands, N.Y. “That’s what made Abe, Abe.” [SNIP]

Both men were lost in the collapse of the north tower that morning. [SNIP]

There is some indication that they had made it to the 21st floor when the building collapsed. Their bodies have not been recovered.

Why are such men hated?

On that very day, I was sad, then furious and then filled with hate. I don’t feel the latter much any more, but, occasionally, it flares up again; especially when I read about people like Misters Zelmanowitz and Beyea. Their families have nothing to bury; they only live with the memory of loved persons. And, meanwhile, other men and women are dying for having breathed in the dust of their bodies, along with the dust of their desks, their computers, the dust of Mr. Beyea’s wheelchair, the dust of the building in which they worked, and are dying from just plain grief.

Why don’t we hate them?

Do I hate them—the terrorists who murdered Misters Zelmanowitz and Beyea? No, not most of the time. Nor do I hate their liked-minded living brethren. Do I fear them? Most certainly not, but that’s merely because I learned to not fear that which can kill the body—also because I knew a long time ago that the goal of any terrorist is to instill fear. Can’t give them that particular victory.

But why shouldn’t I hate those who would murder such seemingly innocuous, harmless and loving men like Zelmanowitz and Beyea? Because it does nothing for either me or those two men; I’m here and they’re bodies are now an integral part of New York City (along with those of hundreds of others who were never found in the wreckage of the Twin Towers).

So why does the story of these two formerly living men fill me with so much anger?

Because they were simply living well and they should have been left alone to go on living the same way. That they died well and honorably—like so many others on that day—is uplifting in a way, but guess what? I would have preferred that they had gone on living anonymously rather than to have become one of the footnotes in many a 9/11 post like this one.

And that’s why I hate the terrorists. Sometimes. Okay, often.
