Last year I noted a plan being advanced for 24/7 cameras at the Temple Mount in order to substantiate Palestinian claims of Israel violating agreements concerning it which the Jordanians, John Kerry and the Israelis agreed.

However for some reason our peaceful Palestinian who have been accusing Israel of misdeeds objected even though such cameras would allow any Jews violating said agreements to be caught in the act.

Of course the question was exactly who would be caught in what acts?

Another reason the Palestinians are opposed to King Abdullah’s idea is their fear that the cameras would expose that Palestinians have been smuggling stones, firebombs and pipe bombs into Al-Aqsa Mosque for the past two years. These are scenes at the PA, Hamas and the Islamic Movement do not want the world to see: they show who is really “contaminating” the Haram al-Sharif. Needless to say, no Jewish visitors have thus far been caught trying to smuggle such weapons into the holy site.

Well five months later the final verdict is in:

Following fierce palestinian protests and threats, Jordan said on Monday that it has abandoned its plan to install security cameras on the Temple Mount.

The decision was announced by Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.

The security cameras were supposed to be installed on the Temple Mount in accordance with an agreement reached late last year between Israel and Jordan under the auspices of US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Apparently the Palestinians were so opposed to cameras recording all the evil actions of Israelis and the peaceful non threatening nature of Palestinian actions at the temple mount that they distributed leaflets urging Palestinians to break the cameras if installed.

One might be shocked at the lack of transparency on the part of the Palestinians, of course that’s because I find their actions transparent in the extreme.

For almost my entire life I’ve been hearing that all it takes is some concessions from Israel and you will have peace in the middle east.

There is however a poll at Israel National News that suggests otherwise:

A new public opinion poll among the Arab residents of Judea, Samaria and Gaza found that an overwhelming majority supports continuing the ongoing terror wave to the bitter end.

The poll was conducted by the Watan Research Center between November 14-21 and included 1,167 Arab respondents.

A full 72% said they support continuing the “Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Intifada,” as it has been termed, until it achieves its “goals,” which they were later asked to define.

That refers to the series of fatal attacks on Jews that has been going on for the last two months.

At Elder of Ziyon Mike Lumish puts it in perspective

This is to say that 72 percent of Arabs who live within the Land of Israel believe that they have a religious-political imperative to send their kids into the streets with kitchen knives for the Allah-inspired purpose of murdering random Jews.
It does not matter the age of those Jews; a woman in her 80s, a child in her crib, it does not matter. Nor does it matter the personal beliefs of those Jews. All that matters is that, if you are to kill them – and you are, young Achmud – that they be Jewish.

Maybe it’s just me but I’d say it’s pretty had to make peace with people when the vast majority of them want you dead and are willing to sacrifice their kids to do it.

Another way of gaining perspective on this 72% figure is to understand that it also means that 72% of Arabs within Israel yearn for the genocide of the Jews. It can mean nothing else. If you believe that Allah wants you to send your children into the streets for the purpose of killing Jews then, ipso facto, you favor the genocide of the Jews.

There is no way to escape from that conclusion, now, is there?

Well that doesn’t mean that our friends on the left won’t try.

Why Israel doesn’t act accordingly frankly is beyond me, given the situation with ISIS there is never going to be a time where they can do more with less pushback from the west.

Via Carl In Jerusalem (who is in my neck of the woods at the moment) a reminder that our Islamic Friends have not let their desire to hit the west distract them from the primary duty to kill Jews:

The names of the victims of the erev Shabbos terror attack near Otniel are Rabbi Yaakov Litman HY”D, 44, and his son Netanel HY”D, 18. The levayas will begin at 21:00 in Har Menuchos in Yerushalayim.

According to the information released by police, the terrorists opened fire from a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the road. In addition to the fatalities, a 16-year-old was injured by shrapnel and a number of others treated for hysteria. They were all transported to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva

Carl Has more details on the murdered men:

It seems that Yaakov and Netanel were on their way to their future son-in-law and brother-in-law’s aufruf (the calling to the Torah that takes place the Sabbath before the wedding) in Meitar, which is just outside Be’er Sheva. Yaakov’s daughter, Netanel’s sister is scheduled to be married on Tuesday night

Well of course we shouldn’t make conclusions about all Palestinians or followers of Islam by stuff like this after all they share a common humanity right?

From eyewitness reports, it is confirmed there was a Red Crescent (PA (Palestinian Authority) ) ambulance in the area, which saw the attack, but preferred to drive off rather than assist ‘settlers’ who were wounded by Islamic terrorists.

Picture for a moment what Amnesty International would have said if an Israeli Ambulance left wounded arabs to die, but then again Amnesty is busy arguing for the safety of those committing the attacks:

One case cited is that of Fadi Alloun, the man from Issawiya who stabbed a Jewish teen in the incident mentioned above. According to Amnesty, the Jewish boy was only “lightly injured.” A news account at the time said that the young Moshe Malka was “moderately injured” and taken to the hospital “in stable condition with wounds to the chest and back.” But one can hardly expect Amnesty’s investigators to waste time ascertaining the degree of injury to a Jew.

Apparently the inability to successfully kill a jew is a mitigating factor for a Palestinian

Amnesty maintains that the Israeli police had no right to shoot a man advancing on them with a knife when he was still “some metres away.” They should have allowed Mr. Alloun to get close enough to stab a police officer or nearby civilian first. That’s how the game is supposed to be played.

But we still shouldn’t be drawing conclusions about Islam based on stats like this:

And like the Paris attacks they have a single goal in common:

believe that the targets were chosen for their symbolic value and for their variety. The attack on the Russian jet (which despite its differences I lump in with the Paris attacks in terms of broad goals) was aimed at transportation. The places chosen in Paris—restaurant, sports arena, concert—were a nice sampling of Westerners at play. The idea is to make people feel vulnerable everywhere they gather.

Of course on the bright side, protestors in Amherst Massachusetts, Yale & at Missouri University can take comfort that the murders of those jews like Vaakov, unlike the Paris attacks, didn’t push them off the front pages.

Closing thought #1 If the attacks in Paris had happened in Jerusalem or Tel Avi, would the world be flying Israeli colors in sympathy or would they be justifying the targeting of Jews & pointing to Israel as the cause? Of course it would be the latter although in fairness the the spin machine of the left on Paris is in full swing:

in the U.S., the gun control crowd is worried about that sort of “gun violence” happening here. From an actor, to CNN, to a group of moms, the attacks are being shamefully politicized without laying blame where it squarely belongs.

Closing Thought #2  When it comes to Paris some US Candidates are blunt like Ted Cruz:

We must make it crystal clear that affiliation with ISIS and related terrorist groups brings with it the undying enmity of America—that it is, in effect, signing your own death warrant.”

and Ben Carson:

‘I think America’s involvement should be trying to eliminate them completely,’ he said. ‘Destroy them!’

I submit and suggest that Israel would be totally justified in applying the same solution to the daily attacks on their citizens. Update: Bingo!

Is the Israel lobby as powerful as they say?

Question both Jimmy Carter & Roland Reagan asked Tip O’Neil after being elected

For a very long time antisemitism was a fashionable sort of bigotry in the United States and around the world from “restricted” golf courses and clubs to some pointing at Jewish success as part of a plot.

World War 2, the and revolution of the final solution of Hitler in one fell swoop turned this around in a dramatic way.  Suddenly open jew hatred was not socially acceptable and with the foundation of the state of Israel hatred of Jews was an actual foreign policy issue.

Determined never to be exterminated again American Jews stood by Israel with both their votes and their money and those who would sell out Israel would have a price to pay.

but the people who hated Israel in general and Jews in particular didn’t lose their views and dreamed of a time when they could openly oppose them.

“No one quite realizes just how passionately anti-Israel Carter is. William Safire has reported that Cyrus Vance acknowledged that, if he had had a second term, Carter would have sold Israel down the river. In the 1990s, Carter became quite close to Yasser Arafat. After the Gulf War, Saudi Arabia was mad at Arafat, because the PLO chief had sided with Saddam Hussein. So Arafat asked Carter to fly to Riyadh to smooth things over with the princes and restore Saudi funding to him — which Carter did.

Jimmy Carter has for a long time been the patron saint of those who hate the Jews.  He openly painted Israel as the segregationist of the south (who he once supported)

“The intifada exposed the injustice Palestinians suffered, just like Bull Connor’s mad dogs in Birmingham.”

He has actively sought to split the Israel Evangelical alliance

Wading into the delicate fray over the alliance between Jews and pro-Israel Evangelicals, former President Jimmy Carter last week reportedly said it was a mistake for Jews to accept such ties, and that he was working to convince Southern Baptists to change the way they look at Judaism and the Middle East.

And called for the recognizing of Hamas

Former President Jimmy Carter once again is getting way out in front of the U.S. government on the Middle East, co-authoring an op-ed in which he calls for Washington to recognize designated terror group Hamas as a legitimate

But while Carter was always portrayed as a lone actor in the Democrats that’s not exactly true, democrats have always known how to count and with the growing arab population in America combined with serious money being thrown around by Arab states things began to change:

Senator Edward Kennedy endorsed Obama in a highly emotional speech. Earlier “Kennedy was the keynote speaker at a gala dinner for the Arab-American Institute that was sponsored in part by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” He was greeted “with enthusiastic applause.” Among the guests was Congressman James Moran, a Democrat from Virginia, who had earlier declared that “without the support of the Jews, America would not have gone to war in Iraq.” Moran was also “greeted “with enthusiastic applause and a standing ovation.” One of the guests, Charlotte Kates, a Rutgers University law student and a leader of the National Student Conference of the Palestine Solidarity Movement, declared
Israel is an apartheid colonial-settler state. I   do not believe that apartheid colonial-settler state has a right to exist.

You would think that democrats like Kennedy & Moran would have distanced themselves from this kind of thing before an election but they both knew how to count and also knew the MSM wouldn’t bother to give this much press as evidenced by this story that everyone has forgotten:

The LA Times addressed its own controversy today in a news story (although one lacking a byline). Yesterday, the McCain campaign demanded the newspaper release a videotape it had obtained for an April story that mentioned Barack Obama speaking at a banquet in honor of Palestinian scholar Rashid Khalidi.

“The Los Angeles Times did not publish the videotape because it was provided to us by a confidential source who did so on the condition that we not release it,” said the newspaper’s editor, Russ Stanton. “The Times keeps its promises to sources.”

Jamie Gold, the newspaper’s readers’ representative, said in a statement: “More than six months ago the Los Angeles Times published a detailed account of the events shown on the videotape. The Times is not suppressing anything. Just the opposite — the L.A. Times brought the matter to light.”
The National Review, and many conservative outlets, write that the Times is“suppressing” information for Obama’s benefit, while claiming that Khalidi was a PLO adviser and pointing out that 60’s radical-turned-University professor Bill Ayers was also in attendance. Meanwhile on the other side, Huffington Post is reporting on McCain’s ties to Khalidi’s organization (as did Harper’s).

incidentally the LA Times STILL hasn’t released that tape.

What does all of this mean?  It means that for a long time the Democrat position on Israel has been hidden for fear of a political backlash.  It’s analogous to their Gay Marriage stance.  A few true believers with a lot of secret support purchased by donation covered by a web of MSM supported lies until they felt strong enough to openly say what they always thought.

Well with the Obama 2nd term today it’s official, the day when Democrats have to pretend to support Israel is gone and now for the few Jewish voters willing to see what’s in front of their faces decision time has come.

Political dork that I am, I like to make lists for myself during an election season, ranking the five issues most important to me at the time. I started doing this years ago (though I skipped 2012). While certain issues appear on each list, the most surprising development is that the list changes a lot over time.

And yet support for Israel has never made the list before — until now.

It’s not because supporting Israel was never important to me. On the contrary, it was — it’s just that I never expected either major party to nominate someone who wouldn’t pass muster as a friend to Israel. Considering the Democratic Party’s turn during the Obama years, that can no longer be taken for granted.

It’s doesn’t shock me that people are starting to see this and write about it openly in newspapers.  What surprises me is that it took so long to happen.

Closing thought:   Jews as we speak, are being attacked and murdered in Israel because they are Jewish, why isn’t the MSM considering this a newsworthy story?

at Israelly cool there is a seven minute video (that I can’t get the embed code for) where Einat Wilf a former Israeli moderate explains what changed her position. Two key quotes

I remember going back from those meeting deeply troubled thinking: These are the moderates, so if these are the moderates than the conflict between us is about far more than what I was led to believe.

This was because the Palestinian “moderates” while recognizing the reality of Israel, supported by a powerful army did not recognize any Jewish connection to the land, to them it was a complete fabrication and they expressed such sentiments openly.

And comparing her willingness to recognize the right of the arabs to self determination and their connection to the land vs the lack thereof drew her to an inescapable conclusion:

I realized they don’t recognize my right, they recognized my might, but, what happens the day I no longer have might? They merely reinforcing the notion that I have to continue to have might to survive here.

The difference between the Palestinians and the Jews is very simple.

If the Palestinians disarmed tomorrow, if they got rid of every single mortar, bomb, rocket and suicide vest that they used against Israel in that moment there would be peace because the Jews would live their lives and leave the Arab alone to live theirs and if by disarming they were threatened by someone like ISIS, Israel would protect them:

“Today, no Arab feels safe in his country,” he said. “Ironically, the sole exceptions are Palestinians in the West Bank because they know Israel will defend them if ISIS attacks. Even in Gaza, most people secretly believe that Israel is their ultimate protection against ISIS fighters trying to strike roots in the Sinai.”

If Israel disarmed tomorrow, the war would also be over, but for a different reason. The Arabs would also be alone to live heir lives, but not the Jews because starting in that moment the Arabs would begin exterminating every single jew from the Jordan to the Mediterranean until there wasn’t a single one left.

That’s the reality it took Einat Wilf half a lifetime to figure out, that the reality proved over and over in Europe these days.

American Jews thousands of miles away from both Jerusalem and Paris have the luxury of ignoring this reality.

Ms. Wilf does not have that luxury.

Update: Compare and contrast the jews who come to pray at the Temple Mount & the Arabs who harass them:

Via Elder of Ziyon who notes:

The entire time the Jews are being harassed and screamed at, simply because they are Jewish. The Muslims aren’t there for prayer or for reflection or even to play ball – their entire lives are focused on trying to prevent Jews from walking around in peace..

Exit question. If there was not Israeli “might” there to protect those Jews in prayer, how long would they live?

Update 2: The Harassment is not confined to Israeli’s:

A delegation of U.S. congressmen in Israel was harassed by a large group of Muslim men during a visit to the historically significant Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Tuesday, according to a Jerusalem Post report.

Reps. Trent Franks (R., Ariz.), Keith Rothfus (R., Penn.), and Evan Jenkins (R., W.Va.), who was also joined by his wife, were approached by several Muslim men when they ascended the Temple Mount.

The men were “surprisingly intolerant and belligerent,” according to Rothfus.

Can I get an #unexpectedly here?

A year ago we saw this story from paris

I’m in Paris.

I had seen these videos where you shout “Death to the Jews” in the streets of Paris. But the truth is that with a video, we not went well even when that reality.

So when I came completely by chance, Republic Square in the middle of the afternoon, and I saw this pro-Palestinian rally, I first paid attention to me … But I wanted to see from close.

I do not have enough peace of mind to write as it should. It’s too hot.

But there:

– Death to the Jews
– Ashkenazi Death to!

– Hitler was right
– We’ll burn you
– white Sales!
– Hamas Resistance!
– Jihad! Jihad! Jihad!
– Palestine must finish the job (note: started by Hitler)

Where are the police?

…And in the streets, scooters reversed. Police remains speechless. Jews who lock themselves in synagogues.

Here is a glimpse of some video:

At the time Elder of Ziyon said

The attack on the synagogue has been denounced by politicians in France, but the real problem of huge numbers of Muslims who have no desire to act in a lawful manner, and who can be easily whipped up into a pogrom, does not seem to be a high priority for the French police.

Seven months later we saw this:

A gunman who would later say he was acting on behalf of the Islamic State walked into her neighborhood’s kosher market and opened fire, launching a siege that would leave four hostages dead — all of them Jewish.

two month later Jeffrey Goldberg in a Piece at the Atlantic wrote asking if it was time for Jews to leave Europe wrote:

France’s 475,000 Jews represent less than 1 percent of the country’s population. Yet last year, according to the French Interior Ministry, 51 percent of all racist attacks targeted Jews. The statistics in other countries, including Great Britain, are similarly dismal. In 2014, Jews in Europe were murdered, raped, beaten, stalked, chased, harassed, spat on, and insulted for being Jewish. Sale Juif—“dirty Jew”—rang in the streets, as did “Death to the Jews,” and “Jews to the gas.”

as for 2015?

The number of anti-Semitic attacks recorded in France during the first quarter of 2015 increased by 84 percent over the corresponding period last year, a watchdog group said.

The SPCJ security service (Service de Protection de la Communauté Juive) of France’s Jewish communities released the figures Monday in a quarterly report that counted 508 anti-Semitic acts recorded between January and May.

I think the Jews in France need to arm themselves or leave. I’d suggest coming here, at least you can defend yourselves legally, but

We saw it in the manifestation of UCLA and it was one kid. But it was worse in Stanford. When the Jewish girl in Stanford, who wants to be a rabbi, cleansed her Facebook and removed her (expressions of) support of Israel, in the United States, that’s scary to me. That’s like Jews taking off their kippa in the streets of Paris, and here it’s in the US. I have a feeling that Jewish kids, and I’m (also) looking at it in high school, feel intimidated.

If you are a Jew and are not free to be openly Jewish for fear of your safety you’re not free.

All of what is done here is only made possible by you.

I’m remembering the coy saying about the French resistance. “If everyone who claimed to be in the resistance really had been, there would have been nobody left to collaborate.”

There was an interesting piece by Charles Krauthammer that raised an interesting point:

The rise of European anti-Semitism is, in reality, just a return to the norm. For a millennium, virulent Jew-hatred — persecution, expulsions, massacres — was the norm in Europe until the shame of the Holocaust created a temporary anomaly wherein anti-Semitism became socially unacceptable.

This is the dirty little secret about the modern hatred of all things Israel & Jewish, many in the west didn’t really care all that much how the Nazis were treating and oppressing Jews until they started conquering their countries. After all the Norwegian Constitution of 1814 and the Dreyfus affair in France took place at a time when the Swastika was still a popular religious symbol.

But once Poland, Denmark, Greece, Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, Belgium, Norway, Holland Czechoslovakia and France fell, Once Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were taken from the Russians (who occupied them first) these nations had a common enemy. And when this these lands that were occupied by the Nazi who slaughtered their jews were slowly freed by allied forces with no shortage of Jews among them (more that 1 million Jews served in the US & Soviet armies) it became impossible for those freed from this oppression to ignore that the when it came to Jew hatred the Nazi’s put them all to shame and as those same Jews in the Russian & American armies found the camps containing the survivors of their religion.

Thus the Nazi atrocities were pointed to and amplified and the collaboration and cooperation of those while occupied (or even after) was swept under the rug.

But with most of those involved in such things or feeling guilt or remorse for them long dead (an 18 year old from 1945 would be 88 today) there is no longer any restraint to hold back such views and plenty of oil financed incentives to those who take the “right” side in the debate.

So Charles let me tell you, those who say “Never Again” mean it, but what they mean is: Never again will we feel guilt over the slaughter of Jews past or present.

That’s the disgraceful truth.

There are a lot of people who have an interesting image in their minds of a religious conservative catholic who is a tea party person.

Such people would assume that I would strongly object if, for example an atheist gay couple who work at planned parenthood and owned the website Warren / Sharpton 2016 choose to buy a house in my neighborhood.

While I would likely think such people would be wrong on an incredible number of levels it goes without saying that they, like any other people, have the right to live wherever they damn well please and if I took any steps to prevent them from buying a house in my neighborhood not only would it be wrong but our friends on the left would likely excoriate me for such actions publicly, and rightly so.

And if such actions by an individual would be wrong it goes without saying that if my city, state or country choose to legislate restrictions on the ability of such people to buy a house in a neighborhood or of a person to sell to such people if they were able to meet the seller’s desired price would rightly draw outrage that would be likely be echoed across the various news networks.

Therefore I’m very curious of to see how long it takes for our friends on the left to express outrage over this:

Chairman Mahmoud Abbas published a decision on an amendment to the Jordanian penal law [still in effect in the PA] and on its previous amendments in the northern districts (i.e., the West Bank). In the new amendment, he instituted life imprisonment with forced labor for the clandestine transfer, leasing or selling of lands to a hostile country or its citizens. The previous penalty for the clandestine transfer of land was temporary forced labor.

So let me get this straight, the old lenient law stated that if a Palestinian choose to sell his house to a citizen of Israel (not the government mind you but any citizen of Israel) the punishment used to be forced labor now the penalty for selling property to a citizen of the Jewish state is life imprisonment.

The [Palestinian] Supreme Fatwa Council stressed in its meeting, chaired by the Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, the prohibition on selling lands and clandestinely transferring real estate property to enemies. This came following the occupation authorities’ and settlers’ takeover of several real estate properties in the area of Silwan [in Jerusalem]… The Council designated anyone selling Palestinian real estate to the enemy a traitor to Allah and His Messenger, as well as to his religion and homeland, and [decreed that] he is to be shunned by all Muslims.

This story predates the Paris shootings by several months, yet I’ve not seen a single person of the left denounce this as the evil that it is.

I wonder why?

Picture a person with a rental house that’s been empty for months who wants to sell.

He is approached by a hispanic owned company that has a history of buying multi family houses in areas with few or any Hispanic people and renting them out to Hispanics who wish to move there.

The sale goes through and they rent to Hispanic families.  The residents of the area are furious and hold protests calling them a bunch of lazy welfare collecting wetbacks who have no business in their neighborhood they are joined by at their protests by city counselors, their state reps and their Senator and Congressmen denouncing both the seller as a race traitor and the tenants unwelcome to the point where extra police are required for their safety.

How fast would the media put a spotlight on this story to denounce the neighborhood?  How quickly would those representatives be shamed?  How long would it take for the president to denounce such racism and declare that the local government would not see a penny of the Federal Treasury until the principle of selling and renting to people regardless of race or creed was upheld and how many members of both parties would be leaving angry comments at any site that defended these things?

This would be a no brainer.

If that’s the case can anyone explain to me why this a problem:

According to the President of the United States there are places in the world where anybody should be able to buy a home….except for the Jews. Last month his administration criticized Israel for allowing Jews to purchase homes (with real money) in East Jerusalem. Today Israel repeated the horrible mistake of allowing anybody in the country the freedom to buy a home wherever they want (even the Jews).

Ateret Cohanim, an organization that settles Jews in Arab areas of East Jerusalem, said it facilitated the purchase of two buildings from their Arab owners in the neighborhood of Silwan. Spokesman for the group Daniel Lurie said the buildings contain nine apartment units and that Jewish families and religious studies students would soon move into the properties. They moved in Sunday evening bringing the total number of Jewish families in the area to 17.

Strange how the same people who would condemn the examples above insist some places in the capital of the state of Israel be kept Judenrein.

The Situation:  You are an Arab state that proclaims their support for Islam.  You have a group of jihadists called ISIS who are not only winning battles throughout Syria and Iraq inspiring your youth and emphasizing aspect of Islam that, while accurate, threaten your comfortable existence within your state?

Problem how you do keep your Islamic population for joining or supporting ISIS fighters who are proclaiming a version of Islam consistent with the Koran but inconsistent with your comfortable lifestyle?  Particularly when stuff like this doesn’t stop phase them:

today fleeing Kobane refugees, some of them teenagers, said they had witnessed beheadings and seen corpses with tongues and eyes cut out amid bloody fighting.

Father of four Amin Fajar said: “I have seen tens, maybe hundreds, of bodies with their heads cut off.

“Others with just their hands or legs missing.

“I have seen faces with their eyes or tongues cut out – I can never forget that as long as I live.

“They put their heads on display to scare us all.”

Easy, fall back on the favorite method of the Arab world, the Big Anti-Semitic lie:

In a recent Friday sermon in Kuwait, titled “The False War on ISIS,” Shiite Imam Saleh Jawhar said that ISIS sold thousands of women, girls, and children to the Jews in Israel. “Even if we accept everything else – what kind of religion allows the capturing of a Muslim woman, and on top of that, allows her to be sold to a Jew?!”

The video via Blazing Cat Fur is here

Remember there is no lie so big or so outrageous concerning Jews that it won’t be believed by arabs.  Furthermore there is no more effective way to produce anger and hatred toward a group among members of the “religion of peace” than to associate them with Jews.

Over the last several years we have seen the rise of two distinct phenomena detrimental to Jews

1.  The increase of anti-semitic attacks on Jews particularly in Europe by a population with no living memory (or guilt) over the Holocaust

2.  The nations of the west declining to enforce their laws on their ever-increasing  Muslim immigrant populations who violate them

And now we have added to it a third thing, a change in the Zeitgeist as the Anchoress puts it where it is now acceptable publicly hate jews, praise Hitler and call for their extermination.

The combination of these events are bad news for the Jews of Europe but does that mean that before you know it the ovens will be lit at Buchenwald?

Not at all, because the new Holocaust will not be played that way.

In an age of instant communication it will not be possible to destroy European Jewry with the comfortable deniability of Germany in the 30’s & 40’s so what will happen will be much more subtle.

An individual will disappear, a car will crash, a house will catch fire, a person will be assaulted, a business will be broken into

And somehow the police will decide that the person just ran away, the car “accident” will just be an accident, the investigation of the fire will be inconclusive and the Closed circuit camera images with of the robbery will either be inconclusive or lost.

No challenge will be made, particularly if the evidence points to a person from the new majorities that rule Europe either directly or through intimidation.

It will not happen overnight, we will see it over the course of 20, 30 or even 40 years but baring a change in population or culture the day will come where it will be unsafe for any Jew to walk the streets publicly in Europe, England or perhaps even in Canada.

As for the United States, the children of Israel will have one advantage over their brothers elsewhere: They’ll be armed.

This is what is going to happen unless the people and the culture changes, to my fellow catholics I would suggest the Rosary en masse and an active involvement to stand up for our Jewish Brothers and Sisters.

To the Jewish people and nation, I suggest devotion to God and an Exodus to either America or Israel as soon as you can.

And if you get here buy a gun or two because before this century is half over, you’ll need it.

The news tonight is filled with offer from Egypt concerning a cease-fire deal that they are trying to broker between Israel & Hamas.

International opinion being what it is the world is anxious for Israel to take this deal and the PM is reportedly considering it strongly as opposed to a full incursion into Gaza with 40,000 troops. On the other hand a cease-fire that just lets Hamas re-arm doesn’t exactly ring the chimes.

So what do you think? What should Israel do?

We’ll announce the results saturday morning

Israel has tentatively accepted the deal:

Yesterday, Egypt floated a proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza as a first step to negotiating a longer-term truce and some normalization between Gaza and Israel. Israel accepted the terms and unilaterally adopted the cease-fire. Hamas … not so much:

But with a warning:

“If Hamas rejects the Egyptian proposal and the rocket fire from Gaza does not cease — and that appears to be the case — we are prepared to continue and intensify our operation and protect our people,” Netanyahu said three hours after the cease-fire began.

Yid with Lid thinks the cease-fire is a win for Israel

The Israel acceptance boxes Hamas into the corner. With the Egyptian proposal giving Hamas nothing it demanded, an acceptance means the terrorist group caused almost 200 deaths, many more injured, a depletion of its rocket supply, and large parts of Gaza destroyed, without gaining anything politically nor inflicting horrible casualties on Israelis.

On the other hand if Hamas doesn’t eventually say yes and rejects the Egyptian proposal it will find itself totally isolated in the international community and the Arab world. They will be accused of torpedoing the opportunity for calm, and Jerusalem will have the legitimacy to mount a ground offensive into Gaza.

Do you agree?

Life of Brian 1979

Hey you remember when the world said “Never again” after the Holocaust?

Jews emerging from a synagogue say they were handed leaflets that ordered the city’s Jews to provide a list of property they own and pay a registration fee “or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportation and see their assets confiscated,” reported Ynet News, Israel’s largest news website.

YNet has the English Translation of the russian language document:

“Dear Ukraine citizens of Jewish nationality,” the flyer began, “due to the fact that the leaders of the Jewish community of Ukraine supported Bendery Junta,” a reference to Stepan Bandera, the leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement which fought for Ukrainian independence at the end of World War II, “and oppose the pro-Slavic People’s Republic of Donetsk, (the interim government) has decided that all citizens of Jewish descent, over 16 years of age and residing within the republic’s territory are required to report to the Commissioner for Nationalities in the Donetsk Regional Administration building and register.”

The leaflet detailed what type of documents the Jewish citizens would need to supply: “ID and passport are required to register your Jewish religion, religious documents of family members, as well as documents establishing the rights to all real estate property that belongs to you, including vehicles.”

The irony of these people reaching back to WW 2 for the justification of these acts, nor it taking place during Passover should not be lost on the reader. The document also prescribes the penalties for non-compliance:

“Evasion of registration will result in citizenship revoke and you will be forced outside the country with a confiscation of property.”

And if that’s not enough…

To add insult to injury, the leaflet demanded the Jews pay a registration fee of $50.

Well I’m sure this is an exaggeration and the Pro-Russian east Ukrainians had nothing to do with this

Pushilin acknowledged the flyers were distributed by his organization but he disavowed their content,

I’m sure Mr. Pushilin will look into it and find there’s not a smidgen of anti-semitism going on, just some local guys going rogue.

Don’t worry though, John Kerry and Barack Obama will get right on it

Update:  Glenn Reynolds:  “WHAT HATH PUTIN WROUGHT” .  I say “What hath Flexibility wrought?”

Pj Media is calls it chilling.  It’s a good thing we live in the US where people’s right to their religious expression is so well protected:

Update 3: Is the whole world trying to prove Mark Steyn right today or what?

Ms Greer has reached that Circle of Tolerance wherein the turkeys line up to volunteer for an early Eid. The Leveson Inquiry declaration of support signed by all those London luvvies like Emma Thompson, Tom Stoppard, Maggie Smith, Bob Geldof and Ian McKellen is the stage that comes after that House of Commons Science and Technology Committee — when the most creative spirits in our society all suddenly say: ‘Ooh, yes, please, state regulation, bring it on!’ Many of the eminent thespians who signed this letter started their careers in an era when every play performed in the West End had to be approved by the Queen’s Lord Chamberlain. Presented with a script that contained three ‘f***s’ and an explicit reference to anal sex, he’d inform the producer that he would be permitted two ‘crikeys’ and a hint of heavy petting. In 1968, he lost his censorship powers, and the previously banned Hair, of all anodyne trifles, could finally be seen on the London stage: this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius. Only four and a half decades after the censor’s departure, British liberals are panting for the reimposition of censorship under a new ‘Royal Charter’.

Maybe they can have the offending Englishmen register.

Update 4: Via Hotair Jake Tapper tweets:

Update 5: Meanwhile from ABC:

Update 6: the Daily Beast: On the one hand:

According to Rabbi Schneerson, the press secretary of the self-proclaimed republic, Aleksander Kriakov, is “the most famous anti-Semite in the region.” Schneerson wondered how separatists who are trying to position themselves as “anti-fascist” and claiming it’s Kiev that’s run by neo-Nazis could pick Kriakov as their spokesman.

but on the other hand from the same piece

This afternoon I went to see who was collecting the “Jewish fee” in room 514 at the seized administration. The office was empty.

“Nobody is going to charge Jews for living in our republic,” said Dmitry Sinegorsky, the “security supervisor” on the 5 floor who showed me the room. Sinegorsky said he would personally “put needles under Pushilin’s nails” to find out whose idea that was to discredit the pro- Russian movement, but he believed it also could have been a “pure provocation.”

My opinion, any Jew who doesn’t take this seriously is a fool.

Update 7: Vodka Pundit explains what “Never Again” means to the Jews:

“Never again” is a Jewish promise to the world. It means never again will they submit to registration. Never again will they don the yellow Star of David on their sleeves. Never again will they walk meekly to the concentration camps. Never again will they go quietly into the ovens.

“Never again” means if you want the Jews, you’re going to have to come and get them.

Update 8: John Kerry

“In [the] year 2014, after all of the miles traveled in all of the journey of history, this is not just intolerable; it’s grotesque, is beyond unacceptable,” Kerry said of the fliers during a press conference in Geneva. “And any of the people who engage in these kinds of activities, from whatever party or whatever ideology or whatever place they crawl out of, there is no place for that. And unanimously every party today joined in this condemnation of that kind of behavior.”

While I don’t doubt Kerry’s outrage I must admit I find both sides denials quaint and almost amusing. They actually think this administration gives a care about the welfare of the Jews.

In order for this to be a viable full-time business this blog has to take in enough to make the mortgage/tax payment for the house (Currently $1210 monthly) and cover the costs of the writers writing here (another $255)

We’re $1200 short for the month and we need your help to close that gap.

I think the site and the work done here is worth it, if you do too then please consider hitting DaTipJar below .

Naturally once our monthly goal is made these solicitations will disappear till the next month but once we get 61 more subscribers  at $20 a month the goal will be covered for a full year and this pitch will disappear until 2015.

Consider the lineup you get for this price, in addition to my own work seven days a week you get John Ruberry (Marathon Pundit) and Pat Austin (And so it goes in Shreveport)  on Sunday  Linda Szugyi (No one of any import) on Monday  Tim Imholt on Tuesday,  AP Dillon (Lady Liberty1885) Thursdays, Pastor George Kelly Fridays,   Steve Eggleston on Saturdays with  Baldilocks (Tue & Sat)  and   Fausta  (Wed & Fri) of (Fausta Blog) twice a week.

If that’s not worth $20 a month I’d like to know what is?

Yesterday to the surprise of an awful lot of people, including me, David Jolly defeated Alex Sink to win a special election in FL-13.

If there was ever a race where the Democrats should have been able to pull off a win it was this one. Consider:

1. Barack Obama carried this district

2. Alex Sink wasn’t in congress to vote for Obamacare

3. A libertarian candidate was in the race and took 5% of the vote

4. The GOP candidate was a lobbyist

PPP had this race with the Democrat up 3, Morning Joe devoted three long segments to it (one of them repeated) constantly referring to the GOP candidate as weak , and in a year when the GOP is told to abandon social issues Jolly was pro-life and was hammered on Social Security the third rail of politics.

Even more incredible contrary to what every consultant in the country has been saying Jolly didn’t worry about crossover voters in a swing District while Sink did:

Ask Alex Sink. Her campaign did a great job of messaging to independents and crossover voters. It made sense. It’s a swing district. But the Jolly campaign focused more heavily on Republicans and a Republican message.

Yet when the dust had settled Jolly had pulled off the win.

The National Journal sees trouble ahead for the left:

this race in a bellwether Florida district that both parties aggressively contested comes as close as possible to a November test run for both parties. Democrats worked to clear the field for Sink, an unsuccessful 2010 gubernatorial nominee, while Republicans missed out on their leading recruits, settling for Jolly, a lobbyist who once worked for Rep. Bill Young, the late congressman whose 13th District vacancy Jolly will fill. Sink outspent Jolly, but the Republican was able to close the financial gap with the help of outside groups. All told, Democrats held a $5.4 million to $4.5 million spending advantage.

The results are a clear warning sign to Senate Democrats, whose majority is threatened thanks to a Republican-friendly map and a national environment that’s tilted in the GOP’s favor.

That may in fact be the case.  I’d like it to be so, but it hit me there is one issue that might have played a role that nobody is talking about:

If you take a peek at the Jewish Virtual library Florida’s cooperation with the state of Israel is huge Pinellas county is part of the UJA partnership with Hadera-Eiron area of Israel.  Sarasota, Just south in the heart of the 13th district is According to a daily beast the 20th most Jewish city in the country and has Tel Mond as a sister city. The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee is quite active

…and in 2011 pledged:

“But DaTechGuy”, you might say, “So what? A lot of American Jews who support Israel are Democrats including DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Why would a strong Jewish population Fl-13 race help the GOP?”

That’s a fair point.  To get Jewish voters in FL-13 to suddenly decide to stay home or vote republican would take an event of colossal significance to the Jewish voting base, like perhaps this:

The US State Department affirmed on Friday that the US recognizes Israel as a “Jewish state” but that this is not a precondition in peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

The statement was in response to questions regarding the department’s position on comments made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that the Palestinian Authority must recognize Israel as a Jewish state, something that its chairman, President Mahmoud Abbas, said that he was unwilling to do.

being said by the Obama administration in a Palestinian newspaper.

A couple of days ago, State Department Jen Psaki conducted an interview with al-Quds, a Palestinian newspaper and stated, “There is no need for the Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.”

It could be that Psaki was freelancing. But it is far more likely that Psaki’s statement represents a shift in Obama Administration policy. In which case, either Obama or Kerry (possibly both) will tell Israel to drop its demand that the PA recognize it as a Jewish state.

It’s true that Alex Sink’s once formidable lead had already been dropping, and it’s also true that her flub on Immigration likely didn’t sit well with some Spanish voters.

But just four days ago Politico was reporting the National GOP was turning on their candidate:

Over the past week, a half-dozen Washington Republicans have described Jolly’s campaign against Democrat Alex Sink as a Keystone Cops operation, marked by inept fundraising, top advisers stationed hundreds of miles away from the district in the state capital and the poor optics of a just-divorced, 41-year-old candidate accompanied on the campaign trail by a girlfriend 14 years his junior.

That story was dated March 7th 2014 two days before Jewish voters North of in Sarasota picked up their newspapers and read about President Obama’s state department deciding the Palestinian Authority didn’t have to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Just a reminder. Sink lost to Jolly by only 1.9%.

Update: The district apparently changed shape in January 2013 moving just north of Sarasota but just west of Tampa the 25th most Jewish city in the US and sister city to Ashdod Israel.

Maybe it’s just me but a district with the 20th most Jewish city in the US just south of it and the 25th most Jewish city to the west just might be following the developments at state vis a vis Israel.

There is a lot of talk about how things have changed for Jews in Europe and plenty of belittling of it, but for all of our friends on the left who doubt this I will refer you to this English language piece from the local Sweden.

We don’t need the whole article, about the reporter going out for the day wearing the kippah. No we’re just going to quote two sentences with my emphasis:

Sixty anti-Semitic hate crimes were registered in Malmö in 2012 – almost three times the number in previous years. None of these resulted in a conviction.

Think about it

Update: If that sentence said “anti-gay” or “anti-Muslim” how many US magazines, web sites and investigative TV shows would all over this story.

Rep James Clyburn demonstrates one of the results of the rejection of Judeo christian values.

When you compared me and other right-wing bloggers to Hitler, did you mean I do horrible things like gassing innocent victims and collecting their gold teeth and artificial limbs?

If my fellow bloggers and I didn’t force people to put tattoos on their arms, crowd them in to death camps where they would suffer torture till they were gassed shot or died some other horrible death, then mutilated their corpses by taking out what can be reused…if we didn’t do any of that, or anything like it…your reference is not only false and inappropriate, but it cheapens the memory of the victims who suffered during the Holocaust and their families.

Rep. Clyburn your people have suffered also they endured the unforgivable horrors of slavery. I would never presume to cheapen the memory of their suffering, and the suffering of those who fought for the civil rights movement (many of whom were Jews) by haphazardly calling people racist the way Democrats do, so why do you cheapen the memory of what Hitler did to my people? You want to call me names leave the Shoah out of it!

When the ends justifies the means these type of comparisons are really easy

Hey Jewish democrats, remember at the convention when Democrats removed Jerusalem from the platform and it took three tries to put it back in. Remember when the Media and the party told you that it was just a bad political fluke and that the party and President Obama really Really REALLY supports Israel?

Now that he has secured his second term, President Barack Obama has already secretly pledged to the Palestinians he will press Israel into a new round of so-called land-for-peace negotiations, a top Palestinian Authority negotiator told KleinOnline.

The negotiator said top members of the Obama administration told the Palestinians the U.S. president will renew talks aimed at creating a Palestinian state in the so-called 1967 borders – meaning in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and, notably, eastern Jerusalem.

If you want to be suckers that’s one thing but when you put an entire people at risk by being fools, it’s simply wrong.

and Pam Geller & Ronny Alte

A central AUF (Labour Party youth party) politician post direct Jew hate in Facebook, and he explains his post-ups with humour.
“Fucking Jew whores, wish Hitler could come back and shower all you Jews again”, wrote the central AUF-politician in a Facebook discussion thread.
Many have reacted to the Ap-politician Khalid Haji Ahmed and his participation in the debate; Ahmed is the former County Secretary of the AUF and council for Labour in Hamar.

Now in a week were we’ve had bodies dragged through the streets and bombs on buses why would I be the most shocked by an Arab pol in Scandanavia.

Because it’s NORWAY!

The Nazi occupation was tough throughput Europe but it struck a collective cord in Norway to the point where ignoring their own laws against capital punishment they executed Vidkun Quisling and two dozen others who headed up the Nazi puppet government calling for Norwegians to not resist the Nazi’s. His very name has become a synonymous for traitor.

It took a long time for Norway to psychologically recover from occupation, it was a defining moment for the nation. Yet while the Nazi occupation is still in living memory you have a Norwegian pol wishing publicly for the return of Hitler and the gassing of the Jews in one of the countries where their deportation began.

To me this is one of the most obscene things I’ve heard of. It’s an offense against history and how Norwegians react. If they let it stand or if they take electoral action against this pol and his party will be the measure of how far Norway has fallen.

While everyone is hyperventilating about Todd Akin here is a blast that amazingly is not from the past:

Criminal charges filed against German rabbi for performing circumcisions

David Goldberg, who oversees a 400-member strong community in northern Bavaria, is the first mohel to be charged since Cologne court banned the ritual

From the story

Rabbi Engelmayer, from Cologne, told The Times of Israel in July that the court decision had “enormously” impacted Jewish life in his community. “De facto it looks as if doctors across the country are afraid [to perform circumcisions],” he said.

“The mohels are inquiring, and we tell them: without circumcision, there is no Judaism,” he said at the time. “Therefore it is hard to imagine how the courts could criminalize a correctly performed Jewish circumcision ceremony. It would be too harsh a sign, especially from Germany.”

Meanwhile in the middle east Egypt under their new Muslim Brotherhood management is making interesting moves:

Israel Radio – Voice of Israel – is reporting that Egypt has moved anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles into the Sinai Peninsula, which if true would be a violation of the 1979 Camp David peace accords it signed with Israel which limits the forces Egypt is allowed to position in the Sinai.

Just last week, Israeli officials said they were concerned by the movement of tanks and armored vehicles into the Sinai – ostensibly to aid Egyptian forces in their battle with the growing jihadi terrorist threat growing in the area bordering Israel. But the addition of more sophisticated weaponry and the fact that terrorists in the Sinai are not armed with aircraft or tanks is raising alarm bells in Israel.

You’ve heard of the Muslim Brotherhood Pam Geller talked about them during her Eurpopean trip that was so warmly received:

Swedish police in riot gear cordoned off the area of our rally on both sides and blocked entrance to it with police vans. But while the leftist media, which swarmed around our event like jackals, will tell you that we are the threat, the police had to face violence only from the leftist protesters. Desperate that our message of freedom not be heard, they blew vuvuzelas, screamed bloody murder, chanted “EDL go to hell” and kept up a constant din – while throwing eggs and firecrackers at the police and at any pro-freedom activist who got too close to them. One firecracker exploded in a policeman’s face; he had to be taken away in an ambulance.

Nonetheless, several hundred people braved the leftist thugs and police barricades and joined us, unbowed and resolutely determined to stand for freedom and truth. The enemedia was out in force as well, which was noteworthy in itself: In Europe this was a huge story (even Turkish media were there), while in the U.S. the media seem determined to ignore the issue of Islamic supremacist encroachment upon our freedoms.

I didn’t cover Pam in Europe (that’s on me) but you should go to her site and find out more.

Somehow I think this might be more significant that Todd Akin, but that’s me.

The MSM has been breathlessly reporting that Mitt Romney’s statements about “culture” being a reason Israel has gone farther with fewer resources in the 65 years of its existence than every Arab country that surrounds them that have spent those same 65 years trying to slaughter them.

What is the kind of culture that could be holding the others back, maybe something like this:

Turken told The Jewish Press that witnesses will testify that, in addition to cursing the Jews and yelling at her staff to remove them from the pool, Adaya was heard saying, “my family will disown me,” and that her “investors will be furious,” if the plaintiffs remained on site.

The genius of America is not only the ability to reach your potential but the ability to leave behind the old world hatreds.

However the Arab culture is a “face” culture. It the same type of culture in some ways as Sicilians and because of the old world connections family types her fear of what might happen is not an inconsequential thing.

However we are not seeing that, particularly with Radical Islam.

Our friends on the left want to pooh pooh this, ignore it, even when their wrath is directed on other favored groups.

Our nation and our friends on the left ignore it at their peril.

Food for thought; There are a lot of disturbing things in this story, but for my money the most disturbing bit was this:

Tehmina (Tamie) Adaya, a Pakistani-American Muslim, is the owner of the Shangri-La. Her father, Ahmad Adaya, was a founding partner of the California real estate company IDS Real Estate Group. He also was a founder and benefactor of the New Horizon School for Muslim religious education in Southern California. emphasis mine

After all someone has to teach the next generation to keep those [expletive deleted] Jews out of their pools.

Via Glenn.

The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in its final week. I haven’t got anyone investing $30 million in the site like the hotel above, but I’m also not keeping Jews from visiting either.

Any help is appreciated. For details click here for the progress check the thermometer to the right and to kick in hit DaTipJar”.

…is right here:

As yourself this question. How is it that a Jewish woman speaking about Zionism and the threats against Jews is not only unacceptable to the Jewish Federation of LA but that it didn’t become unacceptable to them until the day before the event. As Breitbart put it:

On Sunday morning, the very morning of the event, after promising ZOA the use of a meeting room for the purpose of Pamela Geller’s presentation – after permitting ZOA to sell tickets – The Jewish Federation of Los Angeles retracted permission for the use of the room.

Pam put it best in her introduction:

“Imagine, that it’s easier to throw a Jew under the bus than to stand up against a group that is the US affiliate of Hamas!”

To the LA Jewish Federation who caved undetermined “security concerns”, to say it a disgrace is self-evident, to say it is UuAmerican is superfluous let me tell you what this really is:

Let me as a Catholic who isn’t the slighted bit Jewish, whose wife is not the slightest bit Jewish, whose Children are Roman Catholic, whose parents, grandparents, great-grandparents as far back as I can go are Roman Catholic.

You are not going to make your enemies love you by going after your friends, you are just going to make yourself weaker while they become stronger.

C.S. Forester described this in a different setting:

You know his methods, Your Excellency. A demand for concessions, and when the concessions are granted then new demands, each one more weakening than the one before , until the object of his attentions is either took weak to oppose him further or is at least so weakened as to make armed resistance fatal.

Commodore Hornblower 1945 p167

Courage is the first virtue, without courage no other virtue can exist. Think about this, because the time will come when it is too late and the only person you will be able to blame is the guy in the mirror.

Let me say this, Pam Geller welcome on my show any time and any day that she is willing to come on.

Update: I wonder what the La Jewish federation says about this.

I submitted my Under the Fedora column to the Conservatory and the Minority Report today. It will be up at both sites tomorrow or perhaps Sunday. The piece is all about unchanging things.

One thing I meant to put in the piece but totally forgot somehow is the unchanging nature of the Hatred of the Jews by their Arab/Islamic neighbors as evidenced by events in Egypt since Mubarak was deposed for example:

A Grad rocket has landed in the southern Israeli city of Eilat, but has caused no damage or injuries, Israeli security officials said.

District police chief Ron Gertner told Israeli radio the rocket had been fired from Egypt’s Sinai peninsula.

He said it struck a construction site close to a residential area shortly after midnight (21:00 GMT).

The blast took place as thousands congregated in the resort town for the Jewish holiday of Passover.

Mind you this isn’t a rocket launched from Gaza, you know the area the Jews gave to the “Palestinians” with everyone talking about what a difference it would make for peace (HA!). This rocket came from Egypt proper, from Sinai, you know the Area that Israel conquered from Egypt and gave them back as part of their peace treaty.

Meanwhile in France after the slaughter of Jewish children by a self-proclaimed member of Al-Qaeda named Mohammad the Islamic community is taking decisive action to make sure the country knows exactly where they stand on this:

“France: Islamists seeking to avenge Merah’s death,” by Thomas Adamson for the Associated Press, April 6 (thanks to all who sent this in):

PARIS — France’s interior minister says some Islamist groups in France want to avenge the death of a Muslim radical, who the government says was responsible for the killing of seven people in a shooting spree in the country’s south.

AP doesn’t see fit to mention that Merah murdered a rabbi and Jewish children in a furious rage of Islamic antisemitism.

Claude Gueant, speaking on French radio Europe 1 Friday, said that authorities have observed increased “desire” and “enthusiasm” among such groups to avenge the death of Mohamed Merah, a Frenchman of Algerian descent, who died in a standoff with police last month….

Mind you the AP not seeing fit to mention the reason for the standoff: the murder of a rabbi and Jewish children is also something that hasn’t changed.

Nor has the reaction of Muslims to Cartoons:

Two young Tunisians have been sentenced to seven years in prison for posting cartoons of the prophet Mohammad on Facebook, in a case that has fuelled allegations the country’s new Islamist leaders are gagging free speech.

The two men had posted depictions of the prophet naked on the social networking site, the justice ministry said, inflaming sensitivities in a country where Muslim values have taken on a bigger role since a revolution last year.

“They were sentenced … to seven years in prison for violation of morality, and disturbing public order,” said Chokri Nefti, a justice ministry spokesman.

If I was a Muslim I’d find that pretty offensive, but seven years for drawing a cartoon? Then again maybe they are changing, they haven’t killed the guys yet, but in fairness they haven’t found one of them.

Finally the last unchanging aspect, the Muslim Brotherhood and broken promises:

Asked whether a Brotherhood-led government would put the 1979 Camp David Accords to a referendum, as many of the group’s leaders have promised, Mr. Dardery said no.

“No referendum at all concerning international obligations,” he said. “All our international agreements are respected by the Freedom and Justice Party, including Camp David.”

Meanwhile, FJP presidential candidate Khairat al-Shater filed papers Thursday with Egypt’s High Presidential Elections Commission. Egyptians will vote in the presidential election’s first round May 23 and 24, with the top two vote-getters facing off in a June 16 runoff.

The Brotherhood had promised not to field a presidential candidate but changed course Saturday, citing threats to democracy from the military council that has ruled Egypt since Mr. Mubarak stepped down in February 2011.

On a strategic level this is actually a wise move, Egypt is nowhere near ready to fight a war with Israel and the Muslim Brotherhood for all its bluster knows this. If they put the treaty up for a vote it will be crushed and that would give Israel a free hand to act first.

I have no doubt the Muslim Brotherhood would like to see Israel destroyed and the Jews slaughtered, but they want to keep power more and a repeat of 1967 would mean their destruction, and don’t think Israel wouldn’t do it.

But no matter how you slice it, it’s yet another unchanging aspect of the world, as constant as an 84-year-old actual German Nazi opining on Israel as the greatest threat to world peace.

I’ve not focused on anti-jihad stuff lately as I’ve been busy with the campaigns, but that doesn’t mean the left Palestinians haven’t been shoveling it.

Palestinian Minister for Captives Affairs Ataollah Abu Sabah said Palestinian prisoners are suffering harsh and inhuman conditions in Israeli jails, and stressed that Israeli prisons are much more horrible than those of the Nazis’.

Granted this is being said to an Iranian news agency but this is the shoveling that the far left buys. Simple fact, “Palestinians” walk out of Israeli jails alive.

Meanwhile the work of hating jews:

Hatemongers tagged a heavily Orthodox Brooklyn neighborhood with anti-Semitic graffiti over the weekend, targeting two homes, an apartment building and a yeshiva, police sources said today.

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the Midwood swastika-painting spree, law-enforcement authorities said.

The Nazi symbols were found in multiple spots along with the vile message “Die Jews.”

“People are very concerned in light of the fact that [such anti-Semitic acts are] almost a daily occurrence,” said state Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn). “This is the heart of the Jewish community.”

and of killing Jews is apparently never done:

A suspected Hezbollah member arrested on Friday by police targetted Jews and Americans in Bangkok, Defence Minister Gen Yutthasak Sasiprapa said today.

The militant group’s plan was only to target certain public areas where large groups of Israelis and Americans were known to gather, such as Khao San Road, Gen Yutthasak told a news conference. No other provinces were on its list.

That’s why I’m with Allen West and Zilla on the Marines taking a leak issue, it was stupid and they should be punished according to the rules of war but I have no patience for those who paint it as an atrocity, as Pam Geller puts it:

Did the three jihadis attack in America this week get this much press?

Did the Alabama Muslim shooting at police in order “to draw attention to islam” get as much press?

Did the devout Florida Muslim who was arrested for plotting to blow up nightclubs and a sheriff’s office and to use an explosive belt to “get in somewhere where there’s a lot of people” and take hostages get as much press?

Did another in a series of attacks on New Jersey synagogues get as much press? Or the fact that the Rabbi and his family were targeted when molotov cocktails were thrown in their bedroom window? Did they get press?

Did the Islamic slaughter of beautiful Zainab (below) and her sisters, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, in an honor killing get as much press? “May the devil shit on their graves. Is that what a daughter should be? Would a daughter be such a whore?” — Muhammad, the Muslim dad who honor killed his three daughters and wife.”God’s curse on them for generations. … They betrayed Islam.”

Did these women get any press? Did these girls?

Did yesterday’s public whipping of a convert out of Islam get any coverage?

Did the treasonous Congressman who was taking blood money to get Islamic “charities” that were funding jihad off the terror list get as much press?

Was the press outraged over the slaughter of blacks in Libya by the new jihadist government?

Was the press outraged over the beating and sodomy of Ghaddafi?

Was the press outraged by the sexual attack (while screaming “Jew!”) by the “freedom” protesters in Egypt?

I would give more weight to the opinion of those outraged by the Marines if they were as outraged by the Taliban shooting at them. Or as is the slogan of the blog Bare Naked Islam. It’s not Islamophobia if they are really trying to kill you.

There was a rather nasty incident that got no attention in the west press this week:

A 28-year-old worker in a moving company trying to reach Ma’aleh Adumim narrowly escaped a lynch attempt in the village of Issawiya in northeast Jerusalem on Sunday after his GPS device mistakenly directed him there.

Yes you read that right a Jew beaten in Jerusalem for being….a JEW!. Some details:

The realization that he was in hostile territory, he said, came “just as I made the turn, I figured out that I made a mistake, but I didn’t realize how big the issue was. This is Jerusalem. This is home.”

“Immediately when I made the turn a 12-year-old boy started screaming ‘Jew, Jew’. Each time he called out dozens more people arrived.” That is when they started throwing rocks and cement blocks into the car.

How did he escape?

Nir then described how his life was saved: “Someone came out of nowhere and tried to rescue me from the people; there was screaming but he managed to get me to his house. I was still scared, I didn’t feel safe, and the people in the house said they needed to get me out of the village or they would also come under attack. emphasis mine

Yup Arabs in a village outside of Jerusalem are under threat for daring to keep a Jew from being murdered.

Via Meryl Yourish who asks the obvious question:

Name a single incident where a Palestinian made a wrong turn into a Jewish village and was stoned by a mob.

Oh. Wait. That never happened.

and believe me if it did the left would be screaming about it. Loudly!

is the number of exculpatory links included in order to try to persuade the reader that Jewish donors concerns are unfounded

Unfortunately for him it’s doesn’t matter because the hits keep on coming:

The United States will resume limited contacts with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton confirmed on Thursday, saying it was in Washington’s interests to deal with parties committed to non-violent politics.

While Clinton portrayed the administration’s decision as a continuation of an earlier policy, it reflects a subtle shift in that U.S. officials will be able to deal directly with officials of the Islamist movement who are not members of parliament.

The move, first reported by Reuters on Wednesday, is likely to upset Israel and its U.S. supporters who have deep misgivings about the Brotherhood, a group founded in 1928 that seeks to promote its conservative vision of Islam in society.

Yid with lid takes notice:

We are supposed to believe that only Israel and the Jews will be upset about the Obama administration moving closer to a radical antisemitic, anti-Christian, anti-American, anti-Western, pro-terrorist group that wants to repress women, kill gays, and overturn pretty much every existing government in the region. But just those Jews and their friends will be upset. You know, just like in the 1930s when certain people said that opposition to the totalitarian threat of those years was just coming from the Jews.

And it’s not like this is the only such headline this week

In an implicit admission that Israel is so threatened by terrorism that it is not only surrounded by countries and territories that produce terrorists but also unwillingly harbors terrorists within its own territory in a way that most other nations in the world do not, the Obama administration is currently listing Israel among 36 “specially designated countries” it believes “have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.”

Pam at Atlas Shrugs is not amused:

It is only fair that deluded and self-loathing Jews who continue to support the despot in the White House despite his relentless campaign against the Jews should be the first on the Obama trains. And they are coming.

The wonder isn’t way Obama’s Jewish support is dropping, the wonder is he has any at all.

who insist that Israel is occupying Palestinian land in the West Bank.

Since Jordan held the West Bank before 1967 was Jordan occupying Palestinian Land?

Since England held the West Bank before 1947 did England occupy Palestinian Land?

Since the Ottoman Empire held the West Bank before 1918 did the Ottomans occupy Palestinian Land?

We can go all the way back to the time of David and before. So can anyone tell me who was the first people who occupied land owned by “Palestinians” on the west bank?

I expect an answer sometime after Oliver Willis answers the question I gave him.

Here is a story that isn’t likely to break too far beyond Libya and Liz Taylor:

An bomb exploded Wednesday at a crowded bus stop outside the International Convention Center in Jerusalem, just opposite the central bus station. At least 25 people were wounded in the incident, four of them seriously.

Just a reminder that the folks who spend time beheading infants aren’t about to retire anytime soon.

Countdown to candy and cakes in the Palestinian areas in 3…2…

Update: What is the Palestinian response?

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas asked Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to put pressure on Israel to end the “escalation” of strikes in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported.

But of course.

On the right the outrage over the slaughter of the Fogel family continues:

The mainstream media is trying to whitewash the whole thing by dehumanizing the murdered family while neglecting to reveal the motive behind the killings (jihad & killing Jews for jihad). And just as they did after the islamic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Palestinians celebrated in the streets over the death of innocents who were killed in the name of allah, holding carnivals and handing out sweets.

Why is the MSM keeping it quiet, I suspect they understand the decapitation of infants doesn’t sit will with the general public.

Israellycool notes that Glenn Beck managed to cover it:

And notes the celebrations by Palestinians.

The 12 year old survivor words to the prime minister when he visits should fill us with shame:

Even those of us who do not speak any Hebrew can catch the word “America” in the only sentence uttered by the tearful child, in Prime Minister Netanyahu’s presence: “Ma yikreh im taaseh mashehu, az America taaseh lecha mashehu!?” (What will happen if you do anything, America will get at you!?). In other words, this child has concluded that Obama’s America would not permit her prime-minister to “do anything”

Perhaps its because the first response of the administration was to hit Israel for building:

The U.S. Embassy said Monday it was “deeply concerned” by Israeli plans to build hundreds of new homes in West Bank settlements, calling the Israeli enclaves “illegitimate” and an obstacle to resuming direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

In a defiant response to a deadly attack on a settler family over the weekend, Israel swiftly approved the construction of between 300 and 500 new homes in major West Bank settlement blocks. Jewish settlement construction is at the crux of the current impasse in peace efforts.

Yeah why should the Obama administration be deeply concerning about beheading infants, he doesn’t even give the lip service that is offered in Libya. Meanwhile Hamas being Hamas has two different messages, one for those reading in English:

Palestinian National Movement Hamas official Ezzat Al-Rashak said that the movement is not responsible for the murder of the five family members from the Itamar settlement.

Al-Rashak confirmed that harming children is not part of Hamas’ policy, nor is it the policy of the resistance factions.

He also confirmed that the possibility that the incident was carried out by settlers for criminal motives should not be ruled out. [emphasis added]

And one for those reading in Arabic:

But on the Arabic section of the website, an article was published praising the attacker as a ‘mujahid’ and deriding the slain Jews as “Zionist usurpers.” What’s worse, at the time I checked there were 34 comments on the article posted by readers, all praising the attack and the attacker (I translated the first 17 or so). Curiously, while the Hamas statement in the English article raised the possibility of the act being carried out by settlers, in the Arabic article there’s no doubt that the attacker was a Palestinian ‘mujahid’.

And the comments left by readers in Arabic are even worse.

Yet among all this gloom, a tiny glimmer from a reporter on the scene:

I went to Shchem today, and was very surprised. People on the street were willing to condemn the murder unequivocally, in Arabic and in Hebrew, with no embarrassment, in front of the camera, and even identify themselves. [He shows some examples]. I’ve been covering the Palestinian territories for years, but this I’ve never seen before. In the middle of town, publicly, people had no compunctions openly to condemn the murder of children.

The post gives several possible reasons for the change and ends with this:

This is all speculative, and possibly wishful thinking. Yet I’m not certain. Over the past few months, perhaps a year, I’ve been wandering a lot through East Jerusalem, and occasionally through parts of the West Bank, and the calm and normality have been striking. I’ve also had more simply normal human interactions with Palestinians than in many years. Something may be happening – unreported in the media, in a dynamic which contradicts the endless chatter of the diplomats – but potentially very important.

If so, it needs to be carefully and warily nurtured. Carefully, warily, and nurtured. And patiently.

If this is ever going to change the Arabs have to change. I’d like to think this can happen.

Update: Jeff Jacoby on the topic in the Globe. What is says is not as interesting as the number of comments deleted by the Globe, if you read the comment and responses around then it tell an interesting story. Nothing is more dangerous to the left’s public image than their uncensored opinions.

There seem to be a lot of “interesting coincidences” going on with Egypt

Item: Today on WCRN there was an interesting caller linking the revolt in Egypt with the attacks on Coptic Churches in Egypt.

Frankly this hadn’t hit me before but it makes a lot of sense. The government came out strong against the attacks with members of the Mubarak family going so far as to be human shields during Church services.

Less than 4 weeks later they are calling for the fall of the dictator.

Item: Take a look at who is supporting revolt actively in Egypt:

The question is begged: What have Obama’s allies Ayers, Dohrn and Code Pink taught the Muslim Brotherhood and other anti-Mubarak organizations in Egypt about using protests, riots and the modern social media to coordinate their actions to undermine the Mubarak regime?

Being that they have common enemies–the United States, Israel, and governements allied with them–it is understandable that they would be allies. It must give them encouragement that President Obama has yet to disavow Jodie Evans and Code Pink, but instead continues to do business with them as Evans and Code Pink act as conduits between terrorists and Obama.

I’m sure when you read the whole piece you will dismiss as just coincidence the connections between Hamas, Code pink and Bill Ayers.

Item: It loses something in translation:

There you have it: the velvet glove with the word “Freedom”; the steel fist with the words “Make Ready” with its well-known Quranic reference. Actually, not steel fist – steel swords, crossed. The Muslim Brotherhood.

It is not “freedom” that they intend to bring to Egypt – or to anywhere else.

But just wait for the CIA, the State Department, the Administration, the mainstream media, and so many others to tell you the Muslim Brotherhood is all about little Aisha and freedom, and if you question them, you’re an Islamophobe (Shariah definition of “Islamophobe”: Blasphemer or Insulter of Islam, punishable by death in an Islamic state).

The Language barrier has apparently been a positive thing for the Muslim Brotherhood and they are very keen to preserve it.

And as Yid with Lid reports we all know who is behind this don’t we:

In a column published today on Media Matters political correction site, MJ Rosenberg claimed that the current Egyptian crisis was the fault of AIPAC and the “Israel Lobby.” For those of you who have lived on a different planet till today, “Israel Lobby” is a polite way of saying “Jews.” It is based on the old anti-Semitic canard that it is the Jews who control the United States government.

It doesn’t matter how you slice it the Anti-Semites will always manage to blame the Jews for everything.

Egyptians, like all people deserve the right to have leaders who govern by the consent of the governed. We need to keep our eyes wide open to make sure that this actually becomes the fact, rather than being governed by an Iranian or Islamic state.

In his latest he laments the possibility that Israel will cease to be a democracy. Although on topic Israel Matzav answers him the better question is this. Why isn’t Jeffrey denouncing the lack of democracy among Israel’s enemies?

The idea that this fellow who worships at the altar of Fidel Castro is crying about the limits of democratic government is laughable. I hope the Babalu guys weren’t drinking when they saw this story.

The brilliant Ron Radosh explains the whys and wherefores of this kind of attitude now evident in David Remnick

“liberals like Remnick are simply tired of standing up for a cause that has become unpopular on the left.” In making his comment, Remnick announces that he is officially adopting the position taken a few years back by the London leftist intellectuals

Because in the end nothing is more important than being considered part of the right club. And in a slight variation of the old social club model being a supporter of Jews in Israel is enough to keep you out.

I’m with Fr. O’Malley on this one.

Just remember abandoning Gaza was supposed to make things peaceful

Egyptian security forces uncovered a munitions stockpile, including anti-aircraft missiles, destined for Gaza, the Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the weapons stockpile was found in an abandoned warehouse in the middle of the desert in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

It’s my opinion that if all the Jews in Israel went to the other side of the world the arabs would find an excuse to try to kill them.

It’s really nice of the media knowing that Pam Geller from Atlas will be on my show on Saturday to try to help me with my show prep.

Item: I’m sorry we don’t serve YOUR kind here.

We keep hearing how Israel is an “Apartheid state” as the surrounding Arab countries remain Judenrein. Apparently in Jordan (a country that is at peace with Israel) there is a better example:

According to the Associated Press, Barghouti told the organization that she refused to serve the two tourists, and ejected them, simply “because they were Israeli.”

Neither Barghouti nor Jordanian government officials answered AP calls on the issue. The Human Rights Watch organization, meanwhile, said in a statement that Jordan is bound by international law to ban racial discrimination in public places.

I'll wear the Fr O'Malley Badge proudly
Hey maybe Jordan can have Israeli’s wear some kind of identifying feature to help restaurants decided who they can serve. Maybe the media if it ever discovers the story can suggest one.

Item: Hate crimes what Hate Crimes?

Our media is hypersensitive to anything that suggests discrimination against Islam in the US. Hate crimes against Jews? Not so much:

the media has been all but silent on a slew of anti-Semitic acts of vandalism at Indiana University, coinciding with the beginning of the celebration of Hanukkah (h/t Stephen Richer):

A series of anti-Semitic acts of vandalism aimed at various Jewish facilities on and near campus has caused Indiana University police to contact local FBI officials and members of the U.S. Department of Justice for help with their investigation.

On Monday, eight different Hebrew texts were taken from the shelves at Indiana University’s Wells Library and distributed to eight different men’s bathrooms, where they were thrown in toilets and urinated on, university officials confirmed. The defiled books were from the research collections section on the sixth and seventh floors of the library.

Substitute the word “Islamic” for the word “Jewish” and the word “Arabic” for “Hebrew” and ask how the media would react? It would be the lead story everywhere and a symbol of our hatred of Muslims as a nation.

Now I don’t believe in “hate” crimes, something is a crime or it is not. This is a crime and should be punished as such but if the students in question want to be noticed ,they have go the full Michael Graham who suggested today that if republicans don’t want to be called “hostage takers” by the president they need to convert en-masse to Islam. Maybe if these Jewish students do the same the media will notice.

Combine this with the Helen Thomas stuff and we have enough topics for the whole hour!

Alas the media need not have bothered, Pam’s whole site is one big story the media has ignored but it’s the thought that counts.

BTW the Fr. O’Malley badge is from the movie Delta Force

Some things are just so ridiculous on their face that you can’t believe a prominent journalist actually said it:

“They [Israel] haven’t had a car bombing in two and a half years and the sad truth, really, is that the wall with the West Bank has actually worked.

Am I to understand that it is a regrettable thing that the wall to the west has prevented large amounts of Jews from living in fear and dying in violent slaughter? Time magazine has more:

Now observing 2½ years without a single suicide bombing on their territory, with the economy robust and with souls a trifle weary of having to handle big elemental thoughts, the Israeli public prefers to explore such satisfactions as might be available from the private sphere, in a land first imagined as a utopia. “Listen to me,” says Eli Bengozi, born in Soviet Georgia and for 40 years an Israeli. “Peace? Forget about it. They’ll never have peace. Remember Clinton gave 99% to Arafat, and instead of them fighting for 1%, what? Intifadeh.”

Does it occur to anyone that the wall actually provided peace. The Jews aren’t (and never were) interested in killing “Palestinians”, and thanks to the wall the “Palestinians” who apparently still want to kill Jews instead of you know having a life, can’t get to them.

As long as Arabs in general and “Palestinians” in particular consider dead Jews one of their favorite things you can’t have official peace, but if Palestinians can’t kill Jews, you will have defacto peace which apparently offends some on the left to no end.

The “Palestinians” elites hate it too, because with even defacto peace comes the responsibility to govern, and perhaps the reduction of the international welfare that has allowed the PLO leadership to line their pockets while ignoring their people for years.

Bottom line as long as “Palestinians” areas are Judenrein they are not interested in peace and we should stop pretending they are.

How many times do we have to read this story before the world get it though their heads what is going on in Israel?

Good thing we have that brave UN to prevent the Lebanese army from attacking Jews in Israel. Israellycool makes a good point:

What is not clear is whether the Lebanese soldier picture actually fired the RPG, but it is nonetheless problematic that UNIFIL would just happen to be “hanging out” with the Lebanese soldiers during the clashes with Israel.

Or even worse: shielding them.

No comment yet from Helen Thomas or Octavia Nasr.

This was done in broad daylight with plenty of witnesses that means it was done for a reason. Was it to prove Israeli response, to keep Jewish eyes elsewhere?

Time will tell.

One of my most prolific commentators lately is a liberal fellow named David W. Walters. He has been kind enough to give me his attention and critiques on the issue and I’m very pleased to have him. After all if your positions are worth anything they can stand up under fire. Anyways Today he left the following comment concerning the blog redesign (Thumbs up, thanks) and Israel: to wit:

-Your blog looks better…..
But Israel has lost my support and is loosing the support of more Americans as they continue to occupy Palestinian territory and brutalize civilians. Yes, I abhor terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. But those actions are the result of Palestinian rage against Israel. If Israel is really interested in a peaceful settlement with Palestinians, they have to stop taking land that isn’t theirs by bulldozing people’s homes and cutting off water supplies. That just isn’t civilized.

I wrote a very long response that really should be a post so I’m promoting it:

I have to disagree for several reasons:

First of all the first partition split the country into two parts, a Jewish and an Arab one. The “Palestinian” part was Jordan. However the Arabs decided they would rather kill off the Jews instead.

Secondly nobody even thought of a different Palestinian state until Israel conquered the west bank and Gaza. Egypt and Jordan could have made a “Palestinian” state any time they wanted to at that time, but didn’t.

Thirdly: Israel has over and over again given up land for peace and has not gotten peace for it.

Fourthly: Israel pulled out of Gaza fully leaving behind green houses and all kinds of infrastructure, never was the chance for an area to develop better, and yet the Arabs choose to use it as a rocket base to kill Jews.

Fifthly: In arab schools Jews are constantly taught that Jews are to be killed, remember the famous moment here in the US just this year. If you don’t want to bother clicking here is the key quote:

Horowitz …‘Okay, I’ll put it to you this way. I am a Jew. The head of Hizbollah has said that he hopes that we will gather in Israel so he doesn’t have to hunt us down globally. For or Against it?

MSA member: For it.

Or put in in short form. How can you tell the Arab position is bull. Because Arabs serve in the Israeli government and have the vote in Israel, while the Arab/Palestinian area are Judenrein.

When a Jew can live as safely in an Arab area as an Arab can live in Israel, then we’ll talk.

Update: Totten provides a current sixthly

Just because our prime minister calls Gaza a prison camp and an open air prison (Strangely Mr. Cameron didn’t direct any ire toward Egypt who controls the other border of Gaza) doesn’t mean we are anti-Semitic.

Just because we condemned Israel over the gaza flotilla doesn’t mean we are anti-Semitic.

Just because we kowtow to Islamists in our own country doesn’t mean we are anti-Semitic

And this stat doesn’t mean anything:

London’s Metropolitan Police “report that since December, there have been four times as many anti-Semitic attacks as attacks on Muslims, even though there are seven or eight times the number of British Muslims as there are Jews,” said British lawmaker Denis MacShane, who chaired the country’s first parliamentary inquiry into anti-Semitism.

After all we know that the London Metropolitan Police are a notoriously biased organization

Next thing you know you’re going to claim that Howard Zinn was a communist or something.

Update: Memeorandum thread here, would have included it up front but I was on the wife’s pc and she wanted to use it

Stacy is spot on concerning Oliver Stone to wit:

In the “context,” that is, of hating America. And Oliver Stone’s hatred of American is probably the best explanation for why a formerly successful feature director, an Academy Award winner, is reduced to directing crackpot “documentaries” for cable TV. Who wants to watch movies based on the theme that America is the unique embodiment of evil in the world?

There’s something frightening, really, when you realize how many people bought into the conspiratorial worldview of Stone’s JFK and then ponder the pathological destination to which this worldview has led Stone. And does anybody doubt that Stone has a handy scapegoat for his career problems? Blame the Jews!

When I look at the Newsbusters clip there is actually at least one point of Oliver Stone’s rant is worth considering.

Hitler did have a lot more support both within and outside of Germany that people care to remember, but I suspect Stone would like to forget that this includes the far left which just fawned over Adolph once he made is pact with the USSR and did a 180 as soon as he invaded the Soviet Union. As the saying went in France: “If everyone who claimed to be resistance were resistance, there would have been nobody left to collaborate.” It’s important to not forget that a lot of people bought what he was selling. This is is generally true for any purveyor of evil, they all have their acolytes that help make them possible.

The ultimate irony of this? This is exactly the role the Stone and people like him serve for Chavez (who he excuses) Iran (who he minimizes) and served for Saddam (Bush was worse).

Stone only valid point in his rant turns out to be a case of projection but he doesn’t see it. How could he? He is blinded to reality by the power of the “Jewish Cabel”.

Remind you of anyone?

Memeorandum thread here.

Update: The Volokh Conspiracy lays it out in case I was too vague:

Gibson was an easy target for Hollywood liberals and leftists. A right-winger and a religious Catholic, Gibson was the perfect manifestation of Hollywood liberals’ stereotypes of anti-Semites.

Stone, by contrast, is a Buddhist leftist of partial Jewish descent, the kind of person the Hollywood left usually thinks of as “one of the good guys.” Stone even was clever enough to follow his anti-Semitic remark about Jewish domination of the media, noted in the context of Hitler and the Holocaust, with some pablum about the Jewish lobby, Israel, and American foreign policy. This had nothing to do with the topic at hand, but Stone’s apologists will inevitably claim that his remarks were aimed at the “Israel lobby,” and not Jews per se.

Let’s see if stone gets the same play as Gibson, likely not, no baby mama in play here.

As I am not Jewish or an Evangelical Christian some wonder why I’m so Pro-Israel and so hard on the Palestinians. Here is another example of why I think how I do:

Here is an example of the typical behavior of Hamas toward Jews:

Police and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) agents have tracked down and arrested members of a Hamas terrorist cell responsible for a June shooting attack that killed police officer Shuki Sofer, who was engaged to be married. Two other officers were wounded in the attack.

And here is an example in the very next paragraph in the story of the typical behavior of Israel toward Hamas:

One of the terrorists, two weeks before the murder, had received humanitarian aid at Israel’s Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, where he had accompanied his six-year-old daughter for surgery that removed a tumor removed from her eye. The operation had been paid for in full by an Israeli charity foundation.

and the sad thing is you can find plenty examples of that behavior by Jews toward those trying to kill them. When I see examples of the 2nd paragraph from the Arabs, Palestinians, Hamas, et/al rather than the first then I’ll take them seriously.

memeorandum thread here

It is this bit from Commentary that links to this interview in the Jerusalem Post all emphasis mine:

The best of the best. We had 35 people in the room: 20 of them were non-Jewish, 15 were Jewish. And I didn’t tell anyone who was which. And I’d recruited them by telling them “we’re going to talk about Iraq, Iran and the Middle East,” not telling them that the real focus was Israel.

Got them all into the room. It was so crowded that we had kids sitting on the floor. But that added to the intensity. They felt like they were in a dorm room. And within 10 minutes, the non-Jews started with “the war crimes of Israel,” with “the Jewish lobby,” with “the Jews have a lot more power and influence” – stuff that’s borderline anti-Jewish.

And guess what? Did the Jewish kids at the best schools in America, did they stand up for themselves? Did they challenge the assertions? They didn’t say sh*t. And in that group was the leader of the Israeli caucus at Harvard. It took him 49 minutes of this before he responded to anything.

The group is over. It’s a three-hour group. I then say, “Who’s Jewish, who isn’t?” At that point some of the Jewish kids got a little outraged. I dismiss all the non-Jewish kids.

And the Jewish kids are there. And they’re now ticked at me for doing this, you know, “Why have you segregated us?” I said, “I’m Frank Luntz and I’m Jewish, and I’ve been working on this now for 10 years, and you all didn’t say sh*t.”

And it all dawned on them: If they won’t say it to their classmates, who they know, who will they stand up for Israel to? Two of the women in the group started to cry. I got the whole thing on tape. The guys are like, “Oh my God, I didn’t speak up, I can’t believe I let this happen.” And they’re all looking at each other with horrible embarrassment and guilt like you wouldn’t believe.

And I take this tape down, this little DVD, to the Jewish community and I say, “This is what we’ve done – or not done.” It’s not just giving them the facts. It is also teaching them how to say it, when to say it, when to crack a joke, when to acknowledge someone else’s points, when not to be argumentative or judgmental.

That is the point. During the 30’s people just couldn’t let themselves believe what was coming for Jews. This denial allowed it to happen. Right now that same denial is going on. Evelyn Gordon bottom lines it:

But it’s also a travesty because it shouldn’t be hard for any Jewish leftist to explain why Israel, for all its flaws, is still a far better example of the left’s one-time values, such as freedom, democracy, tolerance, and human rights, than any of its enemies. As Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat, Ishmael Khaldi, said in explaining why he chose to represent a country that allegedly oppresses his fellow Muslim Arabs, “We’re a multicultural, multilingual, multireligious country and I’m happy and proud to be part of it.”

I’m sorry if liberals in general and liberal Jews in particular are unable, unwilling or too afraid to stand up for Israel then they had better beware, because radical Islam and its followers don’t just say “death to Israel” they say “death to Jews” and if Israel disappears tomorrow you and your children (and not me since I’m not even slightly Jewish) are the ones who are going to pay the price. And when that price is paid and the yellow star is once again on your chest (if you’re lucky that is) you will be echoing the guys in the group from above said:

I can’t believe I let this happen!

And if you think that is an exaggeration, try to walk through a Muslim neighborhood in England or Canada carrying an Israeli flag or wearing a big blue star of David if you dare.

Memorandum thread here.

Update: Stacy handles this in depth emphasis mine.

As with global warming, so too with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The three-decade ascendancy of the Edward Said cult in Mideast studies has poisoned the academic well to such a degree that one can scarcely find an “expert” on the subject who is not tainted by it. Meanwhile, the veterans of the ’60s New Left have penetrated organized liberalism to such a degree that, vis-à-vis the Middle East, the Democratic Party is now more aligned with Sirhan Sirhan than with RFK.

Reality is going to catch up with you it you don’t deal with it first.
