The primary vote on the Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court has just taken place.

West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchen in the fight for his life to keep his seat voted “yes”.  “Independent” senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted “no”.

But the real story is out of Tennessee where former Democrat Senator Phil Bredesen put out a public statement saying that if he was in the Senate he would have voted “yes”.

“I believe a senator’s responsibility to ‘advise and consent’ is not a licence to indulge in partisanship but should focus on the qualifications of the nominee,  their ethics and their temperament…I was prepared to say ‘yes’ prior to Dr. Ford’s coming forward.  While subsequent events make it a much closer call, and I’m missing key information that a sitting senator has I’m still a ‘yes'”

Tennessee is a key state for Democrats, if they want any chance of taking the Senate they need a win there.  Bredesen was a popular governor and polls showed him ahead before the Kavanaugh stuff began.

Now anyone who actually believes that Bredesen means what he says here hasn’t been paying attention but the fact that in a key race a popular Democrat governor felt the need to publicly come out for Kavanaugh tell you that despite the media amplification of the paid protest show, this has energized the GOP base and as served as a notice to swing voters that it’s not safe to assume if you vote with the snake it won’t bite you.

The best part of all of it?  The Democrats have done all of this to themselves.

So now will come the final vote and as long as nobody changes their mind in a day it’s all over but the shouting, by Monday Kavanaugh will be sworn in and the Democrats will hope this all goes away…

…until the next time.

Two closing thoughts:

Senator Daniels a Yes vote on Kavanaugh, will be in Montana tomorrow to walk his daughter down the Aisle vote or no vote. Some on our side don’t like the idea of giving dems an extra day to attack and I certainly don’t trust the Dems to keep their word on an informal pairing but I say let’s not be like the Dems. We can wait an extra day, let her daughter have her father for her wedding.

Keep in mind that Kavanaugh is replacing a mostly conservative judge. If Ginsberg dies or retires before Trumps terms is up do not be surprised if Democrat and the media claim that said judge, regardless of who it is was the recipient of Hitler’s brain transplanted in a secret operation after it was preserved by an alt-right cult waiting for this moment and thus must be voted down.

That’s supposed to be a joke but these days nothign day do would surprise me.

I’ve been away from politics for several months while recovering from appendicitis, peritonitis and ileus, a horrible experience. I have grown bored of Latin America’s permanent, ongoing dumpster fires (Mexico, Venezuela, etc.) and loathe the current political atmosphere here in the USA. While I was recovering I simply could not be bothered to pay attention, much less write.

Recently, however, I started paying attention to the Kavanaugh hearings, which had promptly become a clown show. During my recovery I had been reading the Ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed

that a wandering and discontented Uterus was blamed for that dreaded female ailment of excessive emotion, hysteria

The Greeks would have looked at the screaming demonstrators as proof of that theory, vagina suits or not.

Little did I know that Diane Feinstein would pull out, at the last minute, allegations of sexual assault against Judge Kavanaugh, and that not only would there be excessive emotion, there would also be talk of fake penises.

And now I am ashamed of the entire political spectacle.

Mind you, I lived in New Jersey for nearly forty years. New Jersey, home of Senator Bob Menendez and the eye doctor, of Cory Booker and T-bone. New Jersey, birthplace of the Torricelli Maneuver. After forty years of such, it takes a special kind of aroma for any long-term NJ resident to feel shame when looking at a political process.

And the process is not the only punishment.

I am ashamed that the accusations are doing a disservice to real #MeToo victims. First there is Ford, who could not recall the year or the location even under cross-examination while all the people she mentioned as witnesses swear under penalty of felony they were never at the scene. In the case of Ramirez, we learn that

Richard Oh, an emergency-room doctor in California, recalled overhearing, soon after the party, a female student tearfully recounting to another student an incident at a party involving a gag with a fake penis,

Yet (emphasis added)

The New York Times had interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate Ms. Ramirez’s story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge. Ms. Ramirez herself contacted former Yale classmates asking if they recalled the episode and told some of them that she could not be certain Mr. Kavanaugh was the one who exposed himself.

Not to be outdone, Creepy Porn Lawyer

Avenatti said he is “aware of significant evidence of multiple house parties in the Washington, D.C. area during the early 1980s, during which Brett Kavanaugh, Mark Judge and others would participate in the targeting of women with alcohol/drugs to allow a ‘train’ of men to subsequently gang rape them.”

The same people asking for an FBI investigation of the first two allegations readily believe that SIX – not one, not four, but six – FBI security clearances of Judge Kavanaugh over three decades did not come across any information at all involving Avenatti’s invented rape gang.

Then there’s the shameful spectacle of Senator Hirono telling men to shut up, as if it were up to her.

I am ashamed to hear the Senator imply that the presumption of innocence, that quaint idea of an accused being innocent until proven guilty on which our judicial system is based, flies out the window when it comes to not only one man, but to all men. Hirono is not alone; Senators Coons and Schumer sustain that there’s no presumption of innocence for Judge Kavanaugh. These so-called honorable members of the Senate would have felt right at home in the Venetian Doge’s palace with its mailbox for

Secret denunciations against anyone who will conceal favors and services or will collude to hide the true revenue from them

In yesterday’s hearing

The Democrats had nothing on him; their harping on his high school yearbook was pathetic, and Amy Klobuchar’s attempt to insinuate that Kavanaugh has a drinking problem was reprehensible.

I am ashamed that in yesterday’s hearing

A real rape had taken place but it wasn’t the one everyone was talking about. It was simultaneously a rape of Judge Kavanaugh, his family, and the American people themselves. The collateral damage was Dr. Ford, her friends, and her family. And the perpetrator was the Democratic Party, principally their Judiciary Committee members, their ranking member, and the minority leader.

The Democrats know that Denunciation is the deadliest activism

Denunciation is what happens when an accusation is saved or fabricated and timed in order to damage an individual and/or process and achieve a personal or political goal regardless of the truth or validity of the facts. Denunciations have been associated with the most infamous and cruel movements and regimes in human history.
. . . But the timing, negotiation tactics and invincible callousness of the Democrat Senators have not just attempted to destroy a fine man and his family. It has also projected two women, who, by their own admissions, are confused and unsure of what they are alleging, into a moral and legal crucible they did not understand at the outset.

I am ashamed that Judge Kavanaugh cannot go to church on Sundays because protesters block the entry. I am ashamed that his daughters need bodyguards to go to school, that his wife receives death threats, that his mother and father have to endure idiot comedians calling for their son’s castration.

I am ashamed that, as Judge Kavanaugh himself said yesterday, “This conformation process has become a national disgrace.”

I am ashamed to know that the left is not going to give up on Kavanaugh. Not now, not ever.

I am ashamed that this circus revolves around the fear that Justice Kavanaugh would overturn Roe v. Wade.

There have been sixty million abortions since Roe v. Wade.

People who celebrate the killing of sixty million lives will stop at nothing.

And that is the greatest shame of all.

Class Action 1991

Two days ago Rush Limbaugh said aloud something I had been thinking. Christine Ford is not going to testify under oath.

The fact that she cleared her social media history, sent her letter to a House member with no jurisdiction which coincidentally avoids the penalties of perjury and the repeated efforts to stall were all clues.

Now the big gun has been brought out.

I think this clinches it. The Democrat plan all along has been to spook either Trump or the GOP or Kavanaugh in order to get him to withdraw or to get Trump to pull the nomination.

All the bluster, all the talk, the New Yorker articles and Stormy Daniels lawyer all of it was to get him to cut and run.

Now it’s the day before the scheduled hearings. Ford has a choice, she can testify under oath under the same penalties of perjury that Kavanaugh has or she can cut and run. We’ve heard from Kavanaugh under oath it’s time for Ford to do the same.

I had been thinking that there was at least a 40% chance she shows up figuring that it would be tough to prove perjury unless they can find proof in communication with Democrat operatives and the deep state to protect her. Plus there is the risk to the gravy train if she cuts and runs.

Now seeing this tweet from Feinstein I’m thinking Rush is right. Ford might be figuring that Donald Trump is a Jacksonian and if any administration would pursue such a case it’s this one and it only takes one person to offer to talk, particularly if they are trading that talking for a lighter sentence on another matter.

Now I’m figuring it’s 90% that she cries “victim” and “unfair” and refuse to show with both the media and dems backing her up.

Politically it’s the best move for the left, the longer this goes on the more disgusted the non-pussy hat generation gets and the more likely this costs the left any hope of winning in the midterms. Better to cut your losses, cry “unfair” and then fund raise off of Kavanaugh in the hopes of winning in 2020.

Tomorrow should be really interesting.

High Noon 1952

Of all of the virtues that a person can have the primary one is courage, because without that virtue of courage no other virtue will endure and a great sign of courage is the willingness to stand tall.

Judge Kavanaugh could have pulled out, history shows that if he had the left would have left him alone in the DC Circuit.  He would still make important decisions and arguments that would be presented to the Supreme Court.  He and his children would still have a comfortable life.

But that easy way out is not for a man of courage and Judge Kavanaugh has courage:

There is now a frenzy to come up with something—anything—that will block this process and a vote on my confirmation from occurring. These are smears, pure and simple. And they debase our public discourse. But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country,” Kavanaugh wrote. “Such grotesque and obvious character assassination — if allowed to succeed — will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service. As I told the Committee during my hearing, a federal judge must be independent, not swayed by public or political pressure. That is the kind of judge I will always be.  I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process   The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out.  The vile threats of violence will not drive me out.  The last minute character assassination will not drive me out”

A lesser man would have cut and run, and plenty of Senators, like the people in the courtroom scene in High Noon would have been very happy if he did, both red state Democrats who will have to campaign on defending or denouncing these two bit smears which will anger voters they need to win, and GOP rinos who fear the left and media.  They would have been happy if Kavanaugh would just go away.

I suspect he won’t because he recognizes the left’s tactics for what they are.  It’s what I saw in 2016

This is about tricking you into letting go of your one chance to stop your own destruction.  They want you to lose your nerve. Furthermore they want the GOP to lose their nerve and the press will do all they can do enable it.

and it’s what some folks like Rod Dreher are only now grasping:

The left will stop at nothing to destroy this man. Three years ago, a friend who defected in the 1960s from Hungary told me that he and his wife, also a defector, are observing that our public culture reminds them more and more of Hungary at the advent of communism. I asked him to explain what he meant. He told me that the ideologically-driven eagerness to destroy people that the Left identifies as its enemies is the essence of it. He said that they will say anything they need to say, even if it’s untrue, to professionally and personally destroy people.

I wondered in 2015, when he told me that, if he was exaggerating. I don’t doubt it at all now. Not after this.

These people must be fought and Kavanaugh is making this fight not only for the sake of the next judge in line, but is taking it for the sake of a lot of people and for the sake of every woman who has a son.  Dreher again:

Tonight I had a business call with someone who lives in one of the bluest parts of America. She mentioned that this Kavanaugh business terrifies her for her sons. The idea that a man could be destroyed because of these accusations infuriates her and makes her afraid. I think that many on the Left are not thinking about the fact that women have daughters, yes, but they also have sons, brothers, and husbands.

He understands if these people aren’t fought bravely in the court of public opinion it will eventually reach the point where they have to be fought with firearms.  Judge Kavanaugh isn’t just saving his name or the hide of the next judge.  He’s saving lives.  I’ll give the last word to John Wayne in Big Jake (1971)

I hate secrets, never knew one to be kept They’ve all heard what’s in that red box, and they all want it. what we’re doin’ by this audacious display is tellin’ ’em they can’t have it. Hell, we may be savin’ some poor miscreant soul’s life by doing this. Maybe even our own.

About a week ago Erik at ¡No Pasarán! reprinted a letter from a French Resistance fighter from World War two that had been written to the Newspaper Le Monde back in 2010 about people appropriating the word “Resistance” for their personal cause long before the rise of Donald Trump:

These days, the word Resistance, with a capital R, is to be found everywhere, far more prominently than in 1940-1944! The Resistance of a teacher against new teaching methods, the Resistance against infringements on the rights of the gypsies, the Resistance against nuclear power… Today, there are certainly no more than 20 000 survivors to have effectively resisted, rifle in hand (or the equivalent: work in intelligence-gathering, etc…), prior to September 1944, and even fewer prior to the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. So do not put a capital R on your opposition to one thing and another, leave us with our Resistance, and use that great word only if, by misfortune, the duty to Resist were again to arise for real.

It’s an important message from a person who actually resisted real life Nazi’s at real life personal risk to himself and his friends.

It’s also explains how Christine Ford and now Deborah Ramirez and their political allies justify their acts to themselves.

In the movie the Longest Day there is a scene when the underground is activated by a series of coded messages to commit acts of targeted sabotage in order to aid the invasion of Normandy.  One such scene involves the derailing of a train and in that scene a woman named Janine Boitard distracts a pair of German guards so her allies can plant Dynamite on the tracks and eventually pushing one off a bridge and falling with him into the water as the train is derailed.

In the minds of Ford, Ramirez and those who have been seeing imaginary Nazi’s everywhere the GOP are Nazis and with Donald Trump is their Führer.  For three years they’ve insisted that despite all evidence or lack thereof internment camps, the silencing of opposing views and violence against political enemies  are just on the horizon unless they stop him.

Now for Democrat operatives, who know this is nonsense, all of this is about power so they will play along with this fantasy and encourage it as long as it has the potential to reward them politically. It’s a cynical and dangerous thing but it’s no danger to them and anyways that’s what useful idiots are for.

One might think this is a fringe but I’ve talked to people who actually believe this, I’ve seen these folks in action in Boston and elsewhere. In their minds there is no difference between Kristallnacht and Donald Trump replacing the retiring Justice Kennedy a kinda conservative judge with Judge Kavanaugh, an actual conservative judge.

This is why Ford and Ramirez are doing what they’re doing. They don’t see themselves as liberal partisans making ungrounded and unsupported accusations against a man who has led an estimable life, to derail a Supreme Court Pick before what they consider a favorable election in November and who regardless of the result will be feted and rewarded by the left, both financially and professionally for the rest of their days.

They think this is D-Day, the GOP in general and Brett Kavanaugh are the Nazis and they are Janine Boitard risking life and limb so that the Reich might fall. And any slander, any deception and any act that might do this, is morally justified.

Just ask James T. Hodgkinson, or Farzad Fazeli or Eric Clanton.

One of the repeating themes of our media/left betters is how brave Christine Ford is for bringing forward this accusation and how much risk she has put her self in.

There is only one rational reaction to this meme:  Are you serious?

Christine Ford is in a profession where conservatives are practically an endangered species, even if, as I suspect this all crashes and burns she is likely to be lionized within her profession. There will be speaking engagements, invitations to conferences, honors and plaudits galore simply for ensuring that this will be mentioned till the day Judge, soon to be Justice Kavanaugh dies.

And let’s not forget book deals, magazine deals and the like, after all print media is heavily dominated by the left. You can be sure she will get plenty of offers, be featured in magazines and written about endlessly as a brave example for women to follow.

Oh and of course there is the talk show circuit, don’t think for a second Oprah, the View, Ellen and all the others will not be slobbering all over her and ready to promote and elevate her at any time she wishes.

This is what she’s at risk of:

he September 20 episode begins with her highlighting the sexual accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh brought by Christine Blasey Ford. Like every left-leaning voice from the past week, she rushes to the defense of the questionable account as if it’s gospel, calling it “brave,” and angry that it hasn’t completely halted the confirmation process. How utterly predictable of her.

This entire “fear” and “suffering” business is BS. She’s a blue state person in a blue state job who associates with the most radical left there is. The only thing she has to fear is how to handle all the accolades she will be getting from folks in her group.

So please don’t insult my intelligence by talking about how brave and how much she’s risking. She’s risking nothing and stands to get the star treatment from the left for the rest of her days.

Oh the humanity!

Batman The Dark Knight #3 1986

When the history of Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation is written the single most critical sentence of the story will be the answer that Donald Trump gave to a reporter who asked if his name should be withdrawn after the last minute allegations brought up against him.

What a Ridiculous Question!

\

That answer encapsulates the difference between Donald Trump and the regular Washington Insiders.

The regular Washington insiders fear the media, fear the press and fear the left, they would have hedged, they would have been cautious and if a republican like say Mitt Romney was in the White House and reacted that way the Senate would likely have followed their lead in doing so played the game on the left’s terms.

Not President Donald Trump.

President Trump doesn’t fear the media and delights in keeping them on the defensive and because he leads from the front, Senate Republicans do not see the need to run in fear and thus the Democrat’s big bluff is going nowhere.

In fact it’s very likely that this will turn into yet another fiasco for the left as it will not only energize the right two months before an election where the GOP needs them to turn out but given the reactions we’ve seen it might even scare some moderates into thinking that they just might not want the type of people willing to do this kind of thing in power.  In fact we might already have seen the first sign of this:

Voters elected political newcomer Pete Flores to the Texas Senate on Tuesday, flipping a Democratic district red for the first time in 139 years and bolstering Republicans’ supermajority in the chamber ahead of the November elections.

A retired game warden, Flores defeated former state and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego for the Senate District 19 seat after receiving backing from some of the state’s most prominent politicians, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and U.S. Sens John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

Hillary won this district by 12 points and the last time a Republican held it was during the Hays Administration Yet in a year when the Democrats are convinced that they will take a US senate seat in Texas from Ted Cruz then can’t hold a seat they’ve held since reconstruction?

Don’t tell me this Kavanaugh business had nothing to do with the result.

Like on DACA the Democrats are playing the old game and they are going to discover that the old rules of fear and intimidation just don’t work against this administration.

And I suspect that they are going to have a nasty surprise come November.

I can’t wait.

Closing thought, remember the only reason the Media can’t push their Kavanaugh message is because Trump has neutered them.  I submit and suggest Without his war on the media the Kavanaugh nomination would be toast.

Batman, The Dark Knight Returns #2 1986

I think the Harvey Weinstein left have no understanding what they have just done when it comes to Brett Kavanaugh and Donald Trump so for the sake of their futures I’m going to explain it to them.

Imagine if you are a public figure, say a congressman, or judge or an established or rising star in media.

Now imagine for a second if a person with vast resources was willing to invest a large amount of money say $150,000 over the course of one year to research your life and find incidents that might destroy you as a public figure.

Imagine if there such a person willing to spend this money to hire private investigators to talk to every teacher, every high school classmate or sweetheart. To dig deep enough to find anything even slightly untoward, from a college party to a meeting with a colleague, to a weekend away. Imagine there was money to look up every person who had a grudge with you over the years who might have a different memory of events than you do and get such people to talk.

How well do you think you would stand up to this kind of scrutiny?

Now imagine that you know of such a person with the resources to do this to you if he so choose, furthermore imagine that this person you know has a reputation for being thin skinned about personal attacks and has a reputation for hitting back hard when someone goes after him.

Finally imagine that knowing all these things you spend two years demonizing said person, demonizing the people who work for him, condoning physical attacks on such a person and attempting to destroy the reputation of anyone who dares freely associate with him and doing so with the knowledge that during the time you are doing these things said person temporarily does not have access to his vast resources to retaliate.

What do you think will happen the day that he once again has access to said resources to spend as he sees fit? I think such a person just might decide to use said resources to take revenge on these folks.

Donald Trump will not be president forever, but when he leaves office either after a first term or a second he will once a again be a private citizen with vast resources at his disposal and a very long memory. Given how the Democrats and the media have treated him culminating with the current attack on Brett Kavanaugh what do you think the odds are that he decides to invest in such an enterprise? I think right now the odds favor it.

Given Trump’s billions it would be very possible for citizen Trump to dedicate $125 million dollars to such an enterprise. Based on my $125K per figure quote that I gave he could finance investigations of 1,000 such public figures. That would be enough to crawl up the ass of every sitting Democrat member of congress and every single sitting federal judge who was appointed by a democrat with money left over to include every single ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS television host who has gone after him and most if not all of the talking heads to boot.

Now normally an ex president doesn’t get involved in such things after leaving office but with the incredible attacks on him combined with Barack Obama breaking this tradition do you really think for one moment that Donald Trump will sit back and not take revenge on these people once he’s out of office, and remember he was deeply involved in many of them and likely has heard plenty of stories about these jokers to start with over the decades.

I think these people have no idea what they are going to unleash and if they are the slightest bit smart will start to reverse course or they will wish they were the thug from that Batman comic.
