By the time you read this we should know if Keith Ellison has won the primary in Minnesota to compete for the AG position in the fall but regardless of the result I’d like to note an oddity.

Two days ago on twitter I expressed the opinion that if I was a support of Keith Ellison I would take the accusations against him with a grain of salt because they came out within 48 hours of a primary election.

Now this doesn’t of course mean that I think Ellison’s guilty (I’m not familiar enough with the evidence to make an intelligent judgement although there are developments),

Nor does it mean that I think he would make a good AG for Minnesota ( I want to see him lose big in the general if nominated) but it’s my opinion that having defended Judge Moore when such stuff was suddenly dug up and thrown at him after decades of silence during an election I can’t fault Ellison voters if they greet this with natural suspicion, particularly two days before an election.

But regardless of the strength of the evidence against him it’s hard not to note the double standard the media is employing here.

Now the media double standard is no unremarkable that it’s almost not worth mentioning but there is one person whose absence really jumped out at me.

Gloria Allred.

While there has been at least one woman’s group that has called on Ellison to resign there is no sign or trace of Gloria Allred in Minnesota.

No press conferences with victims, no press releases, in fact as you can see from the graphic at the top of this post, no sign of Gloria and Keith at all.

This seems odd, after all isn’t all about protecting women from powerful men of high authority who are oppressing them? Roy Moore was a judge running for office, Herman Cain was a radio talk host running for President but Keith Ellison is co-chair of one of the two major political parties in the nation and a sitting member of congress. Surely such a powerful man abusing women is right in Gloria’s wheelhouse, after all she had time to tweet about the president of USC stepping down last week

but oddly she hasn’t managed even a single tweet about the Ellison case.

So my question is this: If Gloria Allred is really a champion of women, particularly women who have been abused by powerful men, why is there no trace of even a comment by her on the Keith Ellison case?

Might the answer be that rather that being a champion of women that are victimized by powerful men that she’s just an attack dog released by Democrats to suit their political needs?

Of course Gloria could prove me wrong by getting involved in the case or at least commenting on it, and as I’m writing this before work and scheduling it for 1 AM on Wednesday it’s entirely possible that Gloria is even now in Minnesota scheduling a press conference standing beside the women in question.

But I wouldn’t bet the house on it.

Closing Thought: Some might argue of course that if Ellison loses his primary then it’s all moot, so of course Gloria would not get involved, but I’d say not after all he is a sitting member of congress and one of the heads of the Democrat party, surely a man with that much power oppressing women is worth Allred’s time isn’t it? Come to think of it, it’s funny how once Moore lost and Cain withdrew you never saw Ms. Allred in connection to those cases again isn’t it?

Democrats Standing behind Bill Clinton Dec 19th 1998
There are some takes on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh that are pretty funny but of all the takes I’ve read the single most tone deaf belongs to Susan Hennessey of CNN

The theory of course being that Ken Starr was hated therefore Kavanaugh will be tarred by the association.

If Ms. Hennessey wants to speak about associations, let me show her one association that I posted about in the past:

If you watch those people filing out I’m sure you’ll find more than one Democrat who is now going nuts over Kavanaugh in that crowd.

Just a few years ago that would have been no big deal, but since the #Pervnado stuck bringing down Harvey Weinstein, Mark Halperin, Matt Lauer, Keven Spacey et/al suddenly defending Bill Clinton has a high price.

So while Susan Hennessey is sure Senate Democrats are DYING to use Kavanaugh’s association with Ken Starr against him, I think my tweet reply puts it pretty well:

Or as Andrew Breitbart once said in Lexington: Bring it on!

It’s been a bad tipjar year, we are in July and despite the booming economy we’ve raised barely 20% of last years total (which is why our expansion plans have been abandoned).

Maybe he was bored. Presiding over the mass starvation of your country’s people isn’t a cakewalk, after all.

Venezuela’s Joe Stalin lookalike dictator has been criticized for becoming a fat bastard while the people in his country wait for hours in line to get bread, resort to picking through trash for anything edible, and die in the streets of hunger – but that won’t make Nicolás Maduro lose his appetite:

American Thinker has more about this:

Thursday, Maduro was in the midst of a long-winded national speech known in Venezuela as a “cadena.”  He paused, pulled a sandwich-like object out of his desk, and took a bite, chomped it down, and then continued his speech.  He was eating what looked like a Venezuelan arepa, a tasty cornmeal-based snack with probably some meat inside, although the Latin press accounts identified it as an empanada, a dish more commonly associated with Argentina and Chile.

It comes at a time when the Venezuelan daily minimum wage, just raised for the sixth time this year, won’t even cover the cost of an empanada, let alone an arepa, given that inflation is running at close to 3,000% and Maduro has just introduced the new 100,000 bolivar note.

Efecto Concuya, via Google Translate, reports:

For the sixth time in 2017, President Nicolás Maduro announced a new increase in the minimum wage that placed the daily salary at Bs. 5,916, but the number of products that can be purchased with that amount is increasingly reduced.

In a sale of breakfast and lunch located in the municipality of Libertador, a pie costs 5,500 bolivars and a filled arepa exceeds Bs. 12,000. There was Rodolfo Gutiérrez, who bought two empanadas and a malt for an amount of Bs. 15,500. That is, someone who only receives a minimum wage, nothing else could pay for a pie.

In a restaurant located in El Cafetal, municipality Baruta, it is impossible to even buy a pie, because it has a price of Bs. 7,500. A large coffee is also inaccessible since it is sold above 8,000 bolivars.

What it shows is the Venezuelan elites’ complete indifference to the suffering of Venezuela’s people.  They mark their superiority over the masses – not by flashing Rolexes anymore, but by eating in front of them.

And don’t think such a message didn’t get out.  Cadenas in Venezuela break into every TV set, every radio show, every program without warning, no matter what’s playing.  You don’t have the option to flip the channel, because the cadena is on every channel.

And cadenas can last for hours.  The logic was that the president’s announcements were so crucial, so important, and so necessary that every other broadcast could just be broken into, like the emergency broadcast system.

You got that? It wasn’t just a video version of the “hot mic”, people had no choice in watching it if they had a television on, and Maduro knew it.

Is this man stupid or just cruel?

Please pray for the people of Venezuela.
