“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
George Bernard Shaw
The Worcester Tea Party (WTP) is the organization of unreasonable men and women; you have to be unreasonable to advocate small government in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 9 years. In that time we have learned many lessons of political hard ball. “Politics ain’t beanbag…” Mr. Dooley told us more than 100 years ago, and it seems to be getting worse today.
Much of what the WTP does is holding educational events were we discuss topics of public interest. Most have been free due to the generosity of our members, but occasionally there is a charge to cover expenses. We are proud of our events and publish videos of them.
We of the WTP believe that any community (City, State, or Country) can’t move forward if acrimony is their focus. To work out solutions to the challenges that face our communities we need discussions that require civility. We are determined to host such conversations. Last year several community leaders in Worcester called for civility with the “One Worcester Pledge”. Members of that group said they are joining together to express their “deep concern about the state of civic and political affairs in our city.” We are seeking to bring as many of these people together as is practical. We will also be reaching out to those that did not sign the pledge as well. We can provide a speaker, Rev. Massey Campos who can speak about civility and respect. But we have yet to secure the appropriate venue for this event. We have penciled in the evening July 20th as the date but we can be flexible. I will keep you informed as this progress.
On August 9th the Worcester Tea Party, will welcome Lord Monckton to Worcester to talk to us about the myth of Anthropogenic Climate Change. Peppercorns Restaurant will provide a full Buffet and a cash bar. Doors open at 7:00 PM. This is a LIMITED seating event. 60 people MAX! A donation of $25.00 will be required so get in early and reserve your seat.
I am, sure that it must seem unreasonable to attempt these two events. It was also unreasonable to bring the South back into the Union or stand up to Communist aggression for decades. Our Republic is great because unreasonable people have done exceptional things to advance the cause of Liberty. Thank you for all that you do for the cause of Liberty.
