Avarice, ambition, revenge and licentiousness would break the strongest cords of our Constitution, as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other

John Adams

Over the last several days we’ve heard about many developments concerning the Clinton Lynch story,  one of the critical moments in last year’s election cycle.

The bit about the media trying to bury the story wasn’t good, hearing about alias’ used by the Attorney General, the top law enforcement officer in the country, to hide her questionable actions and the fact that these meetings were planed and coordinated is pretty bad.

But for my money the most critical part of the story is this bit (via legal insurrection) concerns not the revelations but the FOIA request itself: (all emphasis mine)

On July 1, 2016 – just days before our FOIA request – a DOJ email chain under the subject line, “FBI just called,” indicates that the “FBI . . . is looking for guidance” in responding to media inquiries about news reports that the FBI had prevented the press from taking pictures of the Clinton Lynch meeting. The discussion then went off email to several phone calls (of which we are not able to obtain records). An hour later, Carolyn Pokomy of the Office of the Attorney General stated, “I will let Rybicki know.” Jim Rybicki was the Chief of Staff and Senior Counselor to FBI Director Jim Comey. The information that was to be provided to Rybicki is redacted.

Also of note several of the documents contain redactions that are requested “per FBI.”

It is clear that there were multiple records within the FBI responsive to our request and that discussions regarding the surreptitious meeting between then AG Lynch and the husband of the subject of an ongoing FBI criminal investigation reached the highest levels of the FBI.

However, on October 21, 2016, the Comey FBI replied to our legal demands that “No records responsive to your request were located.”  This is in direct contravention to the law, and we are preparing further legal action to force the FBI to come clean and turn over ALL documents related to this matter to us in a timely manner.

Think about this statement from folks at Powerline again (all emphasis mine)

There are only two possibilities here: either someone at the FBI destroyed documents relating to the Bureau’s communications about the Lynch/Clinton meeting, or someone at the FBI lied in response to ACLJ’s FOIA request. Federal agencies have personnel dedicated to responding to FOIA requests, and presumably the people who carry out this relatively mundane task would not lie or destroy documents without instructions from the top.

There was a time when that presumption was a given, not anymore.  This case clearly demonstrates the only reason why the FOIA, a law specifically designed to promote open government was obeyed was:

  1.  Barack Obama’s Term was over
  2.  Hillary Clinton was not elected
  3.  James Comey was fired

There is no point in having laws like FOIA, or any other unless the people charged with carrying them out are honest and honorable enough to obey them no matter who’s in power unfortunately we now have two cultures in this nation.  One of them believes in the Judeo-christian moral code and the other believes the ends justifies the means.

Once that presumption that the laws will be obeyed by those who are charged with carrying them out is gone, the social contract between the government and those who are governed is gone, and when gone it’s nearly impossible to get it back.

This is the legacy that the Clintons and Barack Obama and their allies in the Democrat Party who have embraced the culture of ends and means have left America and it’s a legacy that our nation will be paying for generations.

Re-edited.

By now, most regular readers know of my background in the USAF as a German/Russian linguist, replete with attendant clearance, a couple of stints stationed in Old West Berlin—pre- and post-Fall of the Wall. (Aside: despite the existence of a large group of people who did not know this and who assume that I’m an idiot, I’m very well-versed in World War I, World War II and Cold War history. They can be viewed as different aspects of the same war.)

Some of these readers think–for whatever reason–that I’m not qualified to delve into certain areas of commentary and I figured that I’d help them out.

Onward to “this morning’s” news, that Former President Obama’s DOJ allegedly approved a pre-election FISA warrant which allowed the wiretapping of Trump Towers. Be advised, FISA warrants aren’t issued for suspected mundane criminal misconduct, but for suspected collusion with foreign powers against the USA. The F in FISA is there for a reason. These warrants don’t go through the FBI [Ed. though they can be requested by the FBI] and are issued by a secret FISA courts at the behest of the DOJ [and/or the FBI]. (By the way, I’m old enough to remember when Democrats opined that the FISA process was the next step toward tyranny and tried to destroy it. If what’s being said in 2017 is true, the FISA court has, however, become more useful to them.) How was this (re-)discovered? President Trump Twitter-ranted about it this morning.

Former President Obama says that he didn’t order the Code Red surveillance on Trump Towers. From Kevin Lewis, the former president’s spokesman:

How buck-passing and non-denial of him. And, one wonders what Fox News’ James Rosen, his parents, and the Associated Press would have to say about the matter at hand.

Allegedly, the Obama DOJ requested a warrant in June of last year, but the FISA court said that the request was too broad. So, the administration narrowed its focus, tried again in October, and was successful. This would explain a lot about the pummeling of General Flynn, the attempted takedown of Jeffrey Sessions, and the Democrats’ newly found faux-animosity toward all things Russian.

Prediction: no one will confirm or deny the existence of a FISA warrant for Trump Towers. The court is, by law, a secret one and, rightly or wrongly, its three members will stay behind that veil. My opinion: it would be the right decision, though, with the rampant lawlessness in high places, that opinion could change.

And, as Dan Riehl said a few hours ago, this gives a whole new view to the June 2016 “chance” meeting between Obama Administration Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Former President William J. Clinton.

Did he (BHO), or didn’t he? And even if he didn’t, the remedies to such a far-reaching problem for the aftereffects of what the 44th president actually did do may prove more painful than the disease. This is why we told you not to elect him.

PM Jim Hacker: Who knows foreign office secrets besides the Foreign Office?

Bernard Woosley: That’s easy, only the Kremlin.

Yes Prime Minister A victory for Democracy 1987

Given the reports of everyone and their mother hacking the wide open Hillary Clinton Servers I found this headline via Memeorandum really funny:

AIDE SAID CLINTON DIDN’T WANT EMAILS ACCESSIBLE TO ‘ANYBODY’

And apart from all of America’s enemies they haven’t been seen.

It’s also worth noting that the title of the AP story has been changed to include the word “private

AIDE: CLINTON OPPOSED PRIVATE EMAILS ACCESSIBLE TO ‘ANYBODY’

Speaking of things that the Clintons don’t want public:

Attorney General Loretta Lynch met privately with former president Bill Clinton on a private plane parked on the tarmac of Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport Tuesday.

A source tipped off local Phoenix affiliate ABC15 to the meeting. Clinton was reportedly notified that Lynch would be landing in Phoenix soon and waited in order to meet her. The entire meeting lasted about 30 minutes.

While I am certainly not surprised at the idea that a Corrupt administration’s corrupt AG is meeting with a Corrupt ex president over the investigation of his corrupt wife however, given the investigations going on concerning Mrs. Clinton one might think that the campaign might be worried about the appearance of such a meeting to those voters not already convinced of their corruption. to the voters. Fortunately for the Democrat candidate it is not only highly unlikely that any voter believe Hillary Clinton is not corrupt but it’s already been established that the Democrat base has no objection to corruption when practiced by members of their party.

In fact given that journalist act like the whole thing is a joke why would not NOT coordinate no matter how corrupt it might be?

Exit Question: Has it occurred that the Unsecure Clinton Email Server is a perfect excuse for the Obama administration for every security and foreign policy failure of their first four years? I predict that it will not be long before Obama apologists explain away their foibles thus: “Well if our enemies didn’t have Secretary Clinton’s email they would not have so effectively countered us.”

I’d like to say I was shocked at this story at real clear politics:

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

Or to rephrase it: We are going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

When I read this the first thing that came to mind was something I saw at the National Press Club last week.

On a big screen when you come in there is a statement concerning Donald Trump’s decision to remove the credentials from the Washington Post meaning that while they can cover his events they don’t have the access that other members of the press do.

It was presented with the self righteousness of a group that does not hint that they can still cover the events and report on them, only on Trump assault on free speech, or that there is a reason why the press is often described as “Democrats with bylines”.

Now while one can debate this move by the Trump campaign maybe it’s just me but I’d say the suppression of the record on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the United States homeland is something that the national press club might find objectionable.

So my question is this: Will the National Press Club put up a display objecting just as strongly to the censoring of the public record by this Administration on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US for all Americans as they will Donald Trump?

I suspect to ask the question is to answer it.

Seeing this referenced by an instapundit retweet brings obvious questions.

If she is telling the truth then it means the Attorney General does not believe the possible violation of law and the placing of the security of the nation at risk by a high-ranking member of his administration is not a subject that should be broached with the President.

If she is lying then the Attorney General of the United states in a national public forum is lying publicly to the people to conceal the nature of a serious situation concerning a candidate for president of the United States.

I can’t see how either of these things are acceptable, but frankly I think she is lying because I suspect the nature of her conversations with the president concerning this case would rightly generate much more outrage than silence.

The nomination hearings are on, and we’re finding out that the nominee for Attorney General of the United States, the person who may become head the Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government, believes that illegal aliens have “the right and obligation to work here.”

Well, that ought to solve the problem of all those fake green cards once and for all, or as Allahpundit put it,

No, she concedes, illegals aren’t supposed to be working, and yes, citizens have more rights than illegals, but if illegal immigrants are going to be here, better that they work than sit around doing nothing.

It’s more of what we’ve been seeing for the last six years (emphasis added):

We’ve had six years of a lawless, completely partisan and divisive Attorney General. Although we will almost undoubtedly have two more years of it, someone who testified as Lynch did should never be confirmed by Congress if the rule of law and the Constitution have any meaning or power left.

IF the rule of law and the Constitution have any meaning or power left, which may be debatable, as Lynch has not shown any disagreement or distancing from the ideas or strategies of the current AG, Eric Holder.

Paul Mirengoff noticed Lynch’s polished, well-coached replies:

Her answers were programmed and generic. She was Cornelia Pillard (and who knows how many other nominees), serving up testimony choreographed by a consultant.

Again, this isn’t problematic unless one accepts the premise — which many Republican Senators espoused and some may even believe — that the Holder Justice Department is beyond the pale. If one accepts that premise, then more should be required of Lynch than a deferential, coached answering style and meaningless “commitments” to uphold the rule of law and to meet with Senators to address their concerns.

Worse yet, the Republicans may actually confirm Loretta Lynch under the “this is not the hill to fight on, guys” tactic (for lack of a better word), which, where I come from is commonly referred to as sheer idiocy.

So help me, I’m tempted to list this post under the “parody” category.
