At Patterico’s Pontifications Dana asks a question about the men of Europe.
I wish I could say Chris was wrong.
Today Stacy McCain notes an odd narrative.
After yesterday’s incident in which labor union activists tore down an Americans for Prosperity tent in Lansing and sucker-punched Stephen Crowder, this headline zoomed up the Memorandum aggregation:
Breitbart Folks Appear to Fake Violence in Lansing
Huh? This was a decidedly odd piece of blogging.
Not so odd when you consider the goal involved is as he put it the “perversion of the narrative” Stacy continues:
Crowder is being smashed “through a plate glass window,” so to speak. If conservative New Media and citizen-journalists call attention to such an incident, that very fact — the involvement of conservatives, and their interest in the incident as news — will be leveraged by liberals as part of the counter-narrative to discredit and de-legitimize the story.
So it doesn’t matter to Marcy Wheeler at “Emptywheel” whether her bizarre version of what happened in Lansing is true or even rationally plausible. She has no interest in truth.
She only cares about “winning.”
In this case, “winning” means providing reporters with some flimsy pretext for ignoring what actually happened yesterday: Union thugs physically attacked their opponents in broad daylight.
Is she winning? Let’s take a quick screen shot of the Memeorandum link today:
Note that both conservative and liberal sites are below the link, now lets look at a wider shot:
Note what is missing from the conservative primary links, any link from a liberal site or primary news site other than FOX.
Marcy Wheeler’s purpose is clear, to create a sheltered narrative for the crowd, as Stacy McCain suggests to give media an excuse to ignore facts already in evidence and as you can see some of the strongest and best funded sites of the left are flocking to it.
Deny Deny Deny!
While as we see that effort has met with some success on Memeorandum the Deny Deny Deny strategy has not been uniformly successful as evidenced by this clip from MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
This suggests Wheeler’s efforts have failed to some degree as this was showed TWICE on MSNBC this morning and I give the entire Morning Joe crew a lot of credit the hosts were united in condemning the Union violence while disagreeing with the merits of the bill. They get full marks for bucking the trend.
Stacy McCain question is however still relevant.
If the basic facts of the story check out, then does this not also prove that Marcy Wheeler at “Emptywheel” is a contemptible liar?
And, strange to say, when I did a Google search just now, it led me directly to a Pastebin file by . . . Ron Brynaert.
Maybe this is just a coincidence. Or maybe not.
I don’t think it is coincidence because that same search led me to this post at Patterico where he wrote about this woman years ago at the start of the Acron business saying
OK, now on to Marcy Wheeler. Her post is titled NYT Thinks TeaBugger James O’Keefe Entitled to Own Set of Facts. And she says . . . wait. What is that term? “Teabugger”? Oh, I get it. It’s like “tea bagger” — only the word “bugger” is substituted . . . a reference to O’Keefe’s “bugging,” which it’s now clear he did not do. So it’s a joke name based on a lie. Which tells you all you need to know about Marcy Wheeler.
Anyway, Wheeler sez:
Brad Friedman lays out an entire exchange that, first, one of their readers, and then Brad Friedman himself had with the NYT, attempting to get them to either correct or back up the claim that O’Keefe dressed as a pimp.
Except that, again, the paper never made that claim in the way (at least in the way that Wheeler means, if you read her post).
Also, all three bloggers repeatedly refer to a supposedly “independent” report by a guy paid by ACORN, which makes various findings totally at odds with the unedited audio that the report (and all three bloggers) refuse to acknowledge even exists. (Did you know there is unedited audio? In all the whining about the lack of unedited video, did anyone ever bother to tell you that you can listen to the full unedited audio of these visits? It’s true! Click the link if you don’t believe me.)
In short, these three are pathetic hacks.
So two years ago we have Marcy Wheeler apparently coordinating with Eric Boehlert and Brad Friedman to create a false narrative out of a true narrative that hurts liberalism in order to suppress it and today she again tries to create a false narrative and is embraced by the names of the left and MSNBC.
That brings to mind a basic question Qui Bono? Who benefits? Well it benefits the Teamsters, MSNBC, Think Progress and Media Matters if they can seeming be not the point of origin for that narrative, but it also begs the question that was asked and repeated on last week’s DaTechGuy on DaRadio show on the Brett Kimberlin crowd. Who is financing and paying for this?
I think that question is at the heart of the Kimberlin crowd because thanks to Stacy’s post of today and Patterico’s post of 2010 we know the purpose of those like Marcy Wheeler, we just don’t know who is paying for it.
Wouldn’t it be fun to find out?
Actual News Report From Lansing: ‘The protests were mostly peaceful’
What a coincidence, the description of “mostly peaceful” would be an accurate description of those who attended the play “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theater on April 15th 1965
deny Deny DENY!
Update 2: And lets not forget that the use of the word “Nigger” as a pejorative and the destruction of a black man’s business is not uncalled for or even a reason for critique if said person is perceived as opposing the position of a democrat constituency
I suspect this Memeorandum Thread will not contain a lot of left leaning sites
Beating people, destroying black business, calling black people Nigger, all forgiven if done against the right people by the right people. Apparently voting correctly is the ultimate indulgence as far as the MSM and left is concerned.
Update 3: Jim Treacher asks the question concerning Clint:
Now, I do hope somebody will explain to me how this isn’t racist. An overwhelmingly white crowd goes after a black man who’s just trying to make a living. Defend yourselves, racists.
Easy, their actions are protected under the Obama/Liberal version of the Bill of Rights
Like many bloggers I have an e-mail list and once or twice a week I send out a series of links to readers and a more frequent e-mail to fellow bloggers in obedience to rule 1
Today’s e-mail reads like a pretty good post on its own but before I share it with you, the stupidity list has grown:
A convicted perjurer and bomber, obsessed with his enemies, sees evidence of a threat by one of those long-time enemies. The threat is made on a blog post about the bomber, 9 days after the post is published. The bomber sees that threat 1-8 minutes after the threat is made. This occurs around midnight.
The threat is deleted, minutes later. But the perjurer already has the threat on his Internet browser.
Despite the evident importance of the threat, however, he waits at least 32 minutes to capture the screenshot.
Then the perjurer and bomber never refreshes the thread again in the next 19 days.
The perjurer and bomber says he’s not the guy who left the threat. And he doesn’t know who did. He just happened to see it, coincidentally, during that 8-minute window, 9 days after the post was published. And that was the last time he ever hit “refresh” on the post about himself.
Does this scenario make any sense at all?
And lets not just make that mistake, lets submit evident to a court that can be disproved by a blogger who knows enough to save the IP addresses of the comments.
Meanwhile Facebook on the heels of its disappointing IPO has followed up with their own stupid mistake:
Facebook just removed everyone’s email address from their profile and replaced it with an @facebook.com email address without asking you.
It’s easily fixed but when you have PR issues you don’t upset your customer base:
A Facebook spokesperson has responded to everyone’s questions on the subject, but they don’t have much to say—except that yes, they have given everyone a Facebook email address and rolled out a “new setting that gives people the choice to decide which addresses they want to show on their timelines.” They did not explain why (or even acknowledge) that all of these addresses were made default on people’s profiles.
Yeah nothing says, “have faith in us” then pushing your customers somewhere they don’t want to do.
If you interested in the other stupidity that you might have missed the e-mail I sent this morning is below the jump: Continue reading “Let’s review the stupidity outbreak of the week”
Stacy McCain, Aaron Worthing and many others report that Judge Nelson W Rupp Jr. has granted a temporary stay to the gag order on Aaron Worthing from speaking/writing about Brett Kimberlin till the full hearing on July 5th.
In a brief telephone interview, Walker said that Kimberlin filed a counter-motion that did not address the First Amendment legal issues at stake, but rather “made a bunch of new accusations” against Walker.
There is no word on how the judge approached that counter motion, but if the standard Kimberlin tactics are no longer effective, then Brett Kimberlin instantly becomes of no use to those who are funding him.
and THAT would be the big news of the day.
Update: Just got off the phone with Dan Backer from DB Capitol Strategies and RightSolutions. He commented that as the Maryland court has granted temporary relief that temporary request on the federal level will be dropped but the case will continue in order.
However “While we are happy” with Today’s ruling since that temporary relief doesn’t preclude Kimberlin from filing new such requests or using these tactics in other states. The federal case shall go on to protect bloggers from attempt to suppress their free speech rights.
Update 2: Just a reminder The DaTechGuy Fundraiser is in progress, our goal is $3000 and any help is appreciated. For details click here for the progress check the thermometer to the right and to kick in hit DaTipJar”.
One of the things that I’ve been suggesting the “Swatter” needs to turn states evidence NOW because the higher ups in Kimberlin & Co will drop him like a wet blanket when the heat gets turned up. Well guess what, somebody is turning on the stoves:
Item: Follow the Connections:
One of the things that people have been wondering have been why Democrats have been so willing to back people like Kimberlin. It doesn’t seem to make sense, well as Stacy McCain continues to peel the onion looks what turns up:
In attempting to discover the identity of “Randy Hahn,” the #StopRush boycott leader Shoq sought the services of Democrat consultant Neal Rauhauser, the e-mails obtained by The Trenches show. Rauhauser provided the group with extensive documentation about a Houston man named Jason, whose surname was redacted in the version posted by Bayne. Rauhauser then mused about exposing the man to harassment by sending his personal information to online groups.
“I have been sorely tempted to point him out to various actors — a guy like this, he could really produce some high quality entertainment for 4chan, Something Awful, Encyclopedia Dramatica, etc.,” Rauhauser wrote in his e-mail reply to Shoq.
Note we are talking an MSNBC host, and the Stop Rush movement (which Media Matters has been highly involved with this). Stacy continues to find connections higher and higher up the food chain and as things go on, the question becomes, how high can you go?
Item: Habit forming.
In a previous article Stacy McCain quoted a 2000 word scrubbed piece by Neal Rauhauser. That piece in addition to being all about hiding themselves from the law had some rather solid insights on how one identifies a person hiding behind an online identity
You have habits that include:
The time(s) of day you are active
The language you speak
The situational knowledge you have when interacting with a certain group
The software you prefer to use
I thought of this when I saw this post at Patterico:
The Gaped Crusader published a picture of a naked man and said it was me; wrote posts about my wife; published my home address; and generally made it explicitly clear that Kimberlin and Rauhauser were out to intimidate and harass folks like SWATting victim Mike Stack, me (another SWAtting victim), and Kimberlin critics Aaron Walker, Seth Allen, and Mandy Nagy.
The Gaped Crusader is a critical link between the harassment SWATting victims and an associate of Kimberlin’s.
And the Gaped Crusader is tied to Neal Rauhauser through far more than the indentation quirk above. He is also tied through subject matter obsession; quirks of language; admissions regardings recent trips . . . and an IP address.
These habits along with some odder ones are making it easier and easier to actually identify what these people have been doing and that becomes important when you consider this:
Item: The Bloggers Counterattack!
The Kimberlin guys have (among other tactics) been using lawfare to go after bloggers well turnabout is fair play:
Our first salvo in that effort has been to file a federal lawsuit today against Brett Kimberlin, seeking, in part, an injunction to prevent the state from ever again arresting Mr. Aaron Walker, an American citizen, for exercising his right to free speech, and to release him from any prior censorship restrictions imposed by unlawful judgements.
This is only the first step in what we call the “Bloggers Defense Team.” We are firmly committed to exposing and combating the efforts of Brett Kimberlin, otherwise known as the Speedway Bomber, and his well-funded allies on the left (like George Soros and Barabara Streisand) who will use any means of harassment to silence political opposition.
and the group that is doing it DB Capitol Strategies and RightSolutions are doing it well
-We plan on spending less than twenty percent of contributions on administration costs. The remainder will be spent on legal fees, lawyers, researchers, and investigators.
-In the coming days, we will create a website dedicated specifically to the effort to provide important news and information, copies of filings, and more.
-Provide monthly statements on expenditures and contributions on that website.
-Form a publicly disclosed “advisory panel” of bloggers, and disclose the methods and reasonings for that panel and those that have been included (we will also welcome suggestions).
This effort has gotten a lot of attention on the net. Combine with the efforts of the NBC on Walkers behalf and the story becoming known to Senators and Congressmen this is going to end up bad news for the left, particularly during an election year when these guys are going to be throwing anything that might weigh the down off their deflating Obama balloon.
This is not going to end well legally for Kimberlin & Co.
Update: Stacy includes two updates that are very significant, the first being a denial from attorney Imani Gandy that tells an interesting story:
How do we know that the story was legit? The proof is in the statement issued this week to The Trenches by attorney Imani Gandy.
Gandy was eager to disavow having been closely involved with the “Stop Rush” leadership, and similarly eager to deny having anything to do with the recorded phone call. Why this eagerness? Because if Shoq was in Florida when he recorded that call, the recording would be illegal under Florida law and, as Gandy is a lawyer, it would be a clear-cut ethics violation for her to be complicit in such a crime.
Yet in the process of making those denials, Gandy ended up confirming the authenticity of both the recording and the e-mails published by The Trenches — and this is important why?
Because (a) it confirms that my reporting is accurate, (b) this has the collateral effect of confirming Rauhauser’s involvement with the “Stop Rush” boycotters
That in itself is huge as it suggests the “distancing” has already begun in his second post he linked to a piece I first saw via the Lonely Conservative at Screed of Momus titled: A Conversation with Nancy. Nancy is the ex wife of Neal Rauhauser which includes this significant tidbit:
And when Neal and Nancy divorced, Neal’s antics were sufficiently disturbing enough to result in a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation. What the psychiatrist found was a man who was deeply disturbed, possessed of the worst narcissism he’d ever seen. Neal had reactive attachment disorder. He was sociopathic, and his behavior resulted in Neal facing various difficulties socially and professionally. Today, from what we’ve seen of Neal and his behavior online, the pathologies fit. The grandiosity, the unlimited ambition, the delusional sense of self-importance, and the inability to tolerate or endure any personal criticism as an individual, or any personal criticism directed at those whom Neal considers to be allies, all fit with Neal’s current and past idiopathic behavior. Only it really isn’t idiopathic, because Neal has acted like this for some time.
Hmmm this would seem to fit with what Stacy McCain has been saying right along who hypothetically asks:
Suppose there was a certain person (we’ll call him “UnSub”) who knew himself to be implicated in serious crimes. Suppose that UnSub displayed an obsessive interest in secrecy and deception. Furthermore, suppose that UnSub believed himself to be under investigation.
How would such a person behave? Is it possible — and I’m just throwing this out there, as a hypothetical possibility — that UnSub would attempt to deflect attention from himself by making accusations of wrongdoing against others? Would UnSub try to destroy or conceal potential evidence? Could we, perhaps, expect UnSub to taunt his victims or send veiled threats to potential witnesses against him?
Just kind of thinking out loud here, you understand. Purely a matter of abstract speculation, perhaps of interest to the BSU analysts at Quantico only as an exercise in psychological theory.
Maybe the BSU analysts could factor in some other variables. Say, for instance, if UnSub liked to brag about his connection to law enforcement officials, or exhibited the kind of sadistic personality that would brag about using martial arts to inflict pain on a woman.
Do you think FBI criminal profiling specialists would be interested to learn that UnSub had previously engaged in behavior “disturbing enough to result in a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation“?
The web is starting to close, to those associated I say again: States evidence NOW!
This morning as I tip toed around a house full of sleeping teenagers post graduation party I noticed this post up at Fox News:
Conservative bloggers are on heightened alert following a string of so-called “SWAT-ing” incidents and are taking precautionary measures to ensure they don’t fall victim to the potentially dangerous prank as the political blogosphere prepares for a heated election season.
Didn’t think much of it, after all I had contacted my local police May 28th, the day after we did our WCRN morning drive show concerning the SWATTINGS interviewing Stacy McCain and later that week met with them to give them details including the voice recordings of the previous swatting so they would be prepared. So the FOX piece was kinda late and no big deal.
Then I looked at the Memeorandm thread and noticed most of the links were from the left. Intrigued I took a peek at this one from the Impolitic, it started well,.
Goddess forgive me for my cynicism, because if it’s real, it’s dangerous and unacceptable
but rapidly went down hill from there.
It’s ridiculous to claim extremist left wing activists are doing this. If they’re not manufacturing these incidents themselves, then it seems more likely to me it’s some crazy fan of these fauxrage blogging specialists who was tipped over the edge by the their relentless hate mongering.
Now being a charitable person I assume that the author is almost completely ignorant of the story.
Of Aaron Worthing mega post that told of his accounts of his encounters with Brett Kimberlin.
Of Patrick Frey’s Swatting and the fallout from them.
Of Crying Wolf blog’s swatting (that for some reason gets ignored a lot)
Of the recordings of the 911 calls themselves (here is one of them)
Of the legal risks people took writing about the story
The personal toll this story has taken on many:
My family is apparently a justifiable target. And other people have faced worse than I have on this. Mandy’s been attacked for being raped. Literally. These attacks get ugly because The Ugly is actually the whole point. Nothing (and I mean No Thing) is off limits to the cowardly anonymous attack dogs because the whole goal is to create an atmosphere of crazy scattershot gunfire designed to make sane people want to run and hide.
So, Mandy and I and the other people writing about the story get tired sometimes. The entire process is flat out exhausting. Ask Patterico or Aaron Walker or Stacy McCain or Erick Erickson or Ali Akbar or Seth Allen or Mike Stack or Ace of Spades or Michelle Malkin or Brandon Darby or Dana Loesch or anyone else targeted by Team Kimberlin. Those bastards want to wear us down to shut us up.
Let’s not forget Seth Allen the very first target of Kimberlin & Co is a liberal who tried to warn his side this guy was bad news.
and of the coincidence that reported swattings and harassment all took place after the writers choose to write about Kimberlin & Co and the left’s ties to them.
Ironically the only “SWATTING” that there is legitimate doubt is Kimberlin’s tardy claim of same, as the local authorities claimed no such call.
Libby I would invite you to read through Stacy McCain’s posts on the subject and catch up.
For the sake of your convenience here is the link to the lot:
I would also suggest Lee Stranahan’s site just keep scrolling.
Take a look at the story through those links and if you still think it’s BS, feel free to shout it out loudly and call BS on all involved including me.
But if you check out these post and people, if like me after studying it you like me conclude:
These stories are all newsworthy but none of them in my mind surpass what I am about to type:
At the start of the Memorial day weekend, when we celebrate and remember those who have died to protect our constitutional freedoms as elaborated in the Bill of Rights, an American Journalist and his family are in hiding for their own safety for daring to exercising those rights the men and women we honor died for.
That’s the bottom line.
and are outraged because like the Molly Norris story that the MSM ignored it’s an attack on all of our free speech rights, then I invite you to get involved.
The best bet would be simply to e-mail Stranaham, or McCain and see if they will be interviewed by you.
Update: BTW if I didn’t make it clear, take your time, a week even two, digest all the info and then see what you think.
Since May 17th when Aaron Worthing first went public about his encounters with Brett Kimberlin & company and Robert Stacy McCain followed up that same day with the first of what is now dozens of posts on the subject the question arose when the media would take notice while others paid the price for defending their first amendment rights.
Even as bloggers took over Memeorandum, Patterico went public on his Swatting, Glenn Beck took notice, Aaron Worthing was jailed and Erick Erickson of Red State & CNN was swatted the media remained silent.
Well now there has been a development that can’t be ignored:
Today, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder regarding recent reports that several conservative political commentators have been targeted with harassing and frightening actions. Chambliss demanded that Holder examine these cases to determine if federal laws have been violated.
These dangerous hoaxes, also known as “SWAT-ting,” occur when a perpetrator contacts local police to report a violent incident at a target’s home. These callers are believed to utilize voice-over IP (VOIP) and other less-traditional telecommunications methods to make the call appear to come from the target residence and to hide the caller’s true identity.
ABC News spoke with two prominent conservative bloggers who were victims of SWAT-ting, a hoax tactic used by some hackers to infiltrate a victim’s phone system, often through voice over IP (VOIP) technology to make calls appear as if they are coming from a residence. The perpetrators call police to report a violent crime at that home to which the police respond, sometimes with SWAT teams.
It will be very difficult to keep this quiet from this point on. Attempts will be made to change the narrative, but the bottom line, that a group of leftist, financed by some of the biggest names on the left have systematically attempted to silence conservative voices on the net using lawfare and worse is going to be told.
It has cost people much to reach this point, and it will cost more to get to the final chapter of this story, but the story will be told and Kimberlin and all his allies can’t stop it now.
My advice for the Swatter whoever he might be, I’d strongly suggest turning states evidence NOW, because you can be sure that your friends will be throwing you under the bus as soon as they see any danger to themselves.
Update: Instalanche thanks Glenn and a reminder to CNN that apparently needs a news director that a certain first-rate reporter who immediately recognized this story as newsworthy is still available for hire.
Update 2: Now it’s been reported on Fox, hew if you are the Swatter, STATES EVIDENCE, with the results in Wisconsin & the polls out of Michigan you KNOW the GOP will be in charge of Justice, you will never get a better deal then you can get right now.

Class Action 1991
Yesterday in response to the rather ridiculous business concerning Brett Kimberlin’s wikipedia page I put up a post parodying the “balanced” approach:
not many people knew it, but the Führer was a terrific dancer…Hitler THERE was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon! TWO COATS! … Hitler was better looking than Churchill. He was a better dresser than Churchill. He had more hair! He told funnier jokes! And he could dance the PANTS off of Churchill!
People who enjoy comedy will recognize these line from the classic comedy “The Producers.”
I thought I was making a joke.
Yesterday Brett Kimberlin’s Wikipedia entry re-appeared and as Patterico notes there was an interesting line that appeared shortly afterwards.
Since October of 2010, conservatives have hounded Kimberlin about his bombing conviction…
The interesting thing is: this language originated with a fellow named Ron Brynaert.
As I have shown before, Kimberlin has at least two people — Ron Brynaert and Neal Rauhauser — who at the very least have proven to be willing conduits for any information that Kimberlin wants to put out in the public sphere. For instance, in regards to Brynaert (a former editor of Raw Story), when Seth Allen was arrested, Brynaert knew of this within twenty-four hours, even though this had not appeared in any public record at the time . . .
Indeed, Brynaert is only one degree of separation from Brett Kimberlin. He has guest blogged at Brad Friedman’s “The Brad Blog” and Mr. Freidman is an admitted business partner of Mr. Kimberlin . . .
Turning my attention to Neal Rauhauser, whom Kimberlin has described in court as his “associate,” he has obviously served as a conduit for information only available to Brett Kimberlin. . . .
Franz Liebkind Ron Brynaert is the fellow who by an odd coincidence has a voice quite similar to the person who Swatted Patterico, the incident that could have killed him:
Now I’m not a forensic voice identification expert but you know who is? Kent Gibson whose company Forensic audio has the FBI, the US Secret Service, LA Superior Court, LA County Sheriff, LA Public Defender’s Office, Pasadena PD Homicide Assaults, Santa Clara Sheriff’s Dept, Santa Rosa County, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as regular clients.
He was hired by Patterico to compare Mr. Brynaert’s voice to that of the swatter above and he says the following:
CONCLUSION: Considering all of the evidence presented, it is my expert forensic examiner opinion that it is probable that all voice samples come from the same person. Deviation from the expected can be explained by small sample lengths (e.g. the Frey Swat call has only 9.8 seconds of pure speech) and intentional voice masking by the Swatter.
And to those whose reply is “so he says” let me point out there is a difference between an expert opinion…
14 I hereby declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California
15 that the foregoing is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, and that this
16 Declaration was executed on the 25th day of February 2012
…and an expert opinion given “under penalty of perjury”
I wonder has anyone actually asked
Franz Liebkind Ron Brynaert if he was the swatter? Has
I think these are really good questions, I think the answers might be interesting too.
Update: another odd coincidence
Update 2: A reward has been offered:
I’m personally offering $1000 and my friend Brandon Darby kicked in $1000 and thanks to people who have committed in, the reward commitment is at $1225 $2550! Over $8000! I still need to add up everything, but BlogWorldExpo has committed $5000! (See below if you want to help.)
Per Erick Erickson’s situation I’m meeting with local authorities just to make sure we don’t see any swatting around here.
As we hit Everybody Blog about Brett Kimberlin day +2 Patterico discovers that apparently if one can not have an article containing “positive attributes” of Brett Kimberlin on Wikipedia, you can’t have an article on Brett Kimberlin on Wikipedia at all.
Hello. My name is Patrick Frey and I operate a blog at patterico.com. I am interesting in knowing why you deleted the Wikipedia page on Brett Kimberlin. I have seen the deleted page and it was quite well sourced, with links to TIME Magazine and other news publications.
There was an entire book about this individual written by Mark Singer, a New Yorker writer. There is simply a wealth of reliable information out there about Kimberlin.
I read the reasoning for the deletion and did not understand it. I wonder if you could enlighten me. Thanks very much.
Symonds responded (emphasis mine):
I deleted the article back in September as a volunteer, because it served as an attack page. It was sourced, but was also unduly negative, and written by people who “had an axe to grind”. Although some of the facts were sourced, there was an undertone of maliciousness in the way that the article was written.
Mr Kimberlin was not a paragon of virtue, but the article as it stood simply painted him as a man with no positive qualities at all, which is obviously problematic in a neutral encyclopedia.
The exchange goes on much farther read the entire thing and simply marvel and the irony.
We remember this weekend those who died for our rights, yet not only, as we’ve already discussed an American reporter in America and his family have found it necessary to leave their home and the state where they reside due to the results of his reporting but the subject that has caused Stacy McCain to go into hiding is not only suggesting he will be sending the law against bloggers who dared to write about him, but Wikipedia, the supposed public encyclopedia has decided that the entry of this convicted bomber must be suppressed because of animus by bloggers on the right.
The irony overload is astounding, however I am pleased to say that although Wikipedia has decided to suppress Kimberlin’s entry and the MSM has decided the whole story is not newsworthy we will take a different view tomorrow as I interview Robert Stacy McCain on WCRN in the 6 a.m. hour.
You can listen live at TuneIn or at wcrnradio.com Maybe if Brett Kimberlin’s rich aunt can spare the time she can listen too.
Update: The conservatory is on it and per the new rules at Wikipedia I think we should consider making an edit to another entry that doesn’t have a lot of positive spin to it:
not many people knew it, but the Führer was a terrific dancer…Hitler THERE was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon! TWO COATS! … Hitler was better looking than Churchill. He was a better dresser than Churchill. He had more hair! He told funnier jokes! And he could dance the PANTS off of Churchill!
Can’t be too balanced can we?
Update 2: What a coincidence after Erik Erickson started writing about Brett Kimberlin and warned local police that he might become a target of “SWATTING” because of it, guess what happened?:
Luckily it was two sheriffs deputies who knew me and I had already, last week, advised the Sheriff’s Department to be on the look out for something like this.
I’m sure this is all a total coincidence of course.
Update 3:Stacy Opines
It’s no secret that I sharply criticized Erickson during the 2012 presidential primary campaign, but last week he mentioned me in writing about the Kimberlin case, which was a gracious gesture. This situation is more important than individual personalities.
UPDATE II: Instapundit: “Really, if the goal is to keep people from writing about Brett Kimberlin, this doesn’t seem like the way to do it.”
Indeed, given that Erickson is a CNN contributor, this incident certainly should provide the mainstream media a solid reason to stop ignoring the Kimberlin case.
UPDATE III: Patterico: “Anyone else think CNN is going to talk about SWATting now?”
and its all over Memeorandum.
I have faith in the ability of the MSM to skip this story, even CNN.
…and it would be consistent with his previous actions.
Not enough to retract the Wheel of Fish but we will see.
Oh BTW take a look that the bottom of TPM they seem to be going all O’Keefe all the time, it would seem it is the only card the left has to play these days.
