Stacy McCain has been writing a series of posts on “Belle Knox” also known as Miriam Weeks a student and Porn “star” currently at Duke University. As usual he is ruling the roost with paragraphs like:

Do you want to have your cake or eat it, Ms. Weeks? Because you cannot be “famous” as the Duke University porn star, claiming that you are unashamed to do what you do, and then demand that the world never mention your real name which — as you yourself say — is already known to hundreds of your fellow Duke University students, to say nothing of Google: Miriam Weeks is “Belle Knox.”

One cannot impose amnesia on the Internet by force of will.

Today’s contribution is just as good:

Is Danica Liu a radical man-hating lunatic? Of course, but her radical man-hating lunacy is at least an honest lunacy. As crazy as she is, her feminist ideology is a coherent syllogism, pursuing her insane premises to their logical conclusion of complete madness.

Danica Liu excoriates the Duke starlet for exploiting privilege:

In becoming a porn star, you have played into a system that values a certain race, body type and class. You are able to make this decision because of your race, body type and class.

I have been lucky enough to receive financial aid so I can attend Duke, but if I had not, the same sex work opportunities available to you would not have been available to me as an Asian woman.

Translation: “Don’t tell me about feminism, you rich white bitch!”

While Ms. Liu’s statement concerning opportunities in the “adult” is patently false as a search for “Asian” at any site that offers such material would prove in a heartbeat, Stacy’s post is significant for several other things it reveals.

#1 Women and Porn.

In his piece today Stacy McCain links to the following piece at Real Clear Education where ms “Belle” is interviewed:

How did it cross your mind to get into adult films?

I’ve always really liked watching porn. I started watching porn when I was maybe 11, and it was something I was always very ashamed about, but I really enjoyed watching it….

While you’re thinking about that let me remind you of a point I was making several weeks ago:

in an age where practically no men under 30 have not seen online porn and a increasing amount of young women are fans of people like Ms. St. Michaels. Her pornographic films career can tell us a lot about where the culture is heading..

A quick glance of Ms. St. Michaels IMDB credits shows her primary work is in lesbian films. Now there is certainly no shortage of guys interested in, as Brian Doyle Murray’s character in the Goode Family called it “hot lesbian action”, one can presume that as a person who’s primary output is lesbian films would have a following among women.

One might not be surprised at the thought of an eleven year old boy just starting getting interested in girls “really liking porn” but an 11 year old girl?

Stacy McCain is famous for Rule five, but do not be surprised if this photo he used attracts eyeballs from both sexes.

Bottom line a generation young women have become consumers of porn and you shouldn’t be surprised when a large supply of Miriam Weeks willing to become “Belle Knox” as the next generation grows up.

2. Toss that ICK factor.

In the piece I already mentioned I noted how “mother with daughter” meme was being pushed in lesbian porn:

For a solid decade a series of pornographic films explicitly directed toward woman have slowly been breaking down the barriers and moving the bar between what is considered acceptable behavior and what is not.

Young women, who will someday be mothers and the protectors of their daughters will be exposed to the idea of said daughters as desirable sexual objects for them. Something that can legally be advanced, first of course as fantasy to start but and after years of exposure to that type of thing it will go from “beyond the pale” to “just another porn movie” that is seen online.

Stacy made my point for me:

a reader sent me an e-mail expressing disbelief that such an ordinary-looking woman as Miriam Weeks could be highly sought as a porn performer. ..
…but by the time I saw that e-mail, I had already seen the NSFW “Belle Knox” Twitter account, and I wrote back to the mystified reader:

The thing is, she’s EIGHTEEN — no tattoos, “innocent” looking.
Finding jaded tattoo-covered whores with silicon-implant breasts is not difficult. But the supply of “innocent” looking 18-year-olds willing to do three-ways, etc.? Yeah, that’s the premium product, and the demand is high.
Basically, it’s the closest thing to kiddie porn that the market can supply legally, which is why I’m creeped out by this feminist talk about how “empowering” it is.
– RSM

At 5-foot-4 and 94 pounds, according to her profile at an “adult modeling” agency, 18-year-old Miriam Weeks looks younger than her age, so underdeveloped she might be mistaken for an eighth-grader, and this is precisely her value in the “teen porn” trade.

This explains why Miriam Weeks is getting the big bucks.  I wonder if  Kate Hunt has  discovered this lucrative career possibility or perhaps she is already too old or not “innocent” enough to pass?

It also explains why my teasing of Woody Allen is unfortunately more than just teasing…

If only Woody Allen had somehow managed to delay this letter from his daughter till that time it might have been a story where he might not even feel the need to deny it and perhaps Cate Blanchett might not even have felt the need to comment at all.

…It’s prophecy.

#3  Tami Erin hardest hit:

Consider this, how many 18 years old college students are in the same position as Ms. Weeks was when she had this epiphany

when I got to college and was faced with all these financial burdens, I was literally sitting in my room one night, and I didn’t know how I was going to pay for all this, and half joking said to my roommate, “Well f— it, I’ll just be a porn star.” And so we kind of laughed, but then I half-heartedly applied and sent my picture to a bunch of porn agencies. I didn’t expect anything to come of it, but then I started getting callbacks from people saying they saw a lot of potential.

And when I started learning about just how much porn stars make, I realized I could graduate from school free of debt and do something I really love doing without having to bust my ass doing minimum wage jobs that wouldn’t get me anywhere.

Just a reminder Duke Tuition is 60K a year (she has 13k in aid) and Ms. Weeks is woman’s studies major who hopes to be a lawyer.

This story now has gotten national attention.  How many ordinary girls with just as much college debt as this girl do you think have read it?  If Ms Weeks over the next four years is going to make 47K a year and graduate debt free can you imagine how many other women with that same level of debt or more might decide:  “Hey this is a quick way of getting rid of my college bills before I’m 21!“?

If fellow Woman’s studies major Andrea X  had thought of this she might be out of debt today, alas she is likely too old to command the big bucks Ms. Weeks does.

While the timing is too late for Andrea X (who I suspect has enough dignity to eschew this choice) it is horrible news for Tami Erin.  You might recall when I was writing about Ms. Erin I noted the increase in her twitter followers  ever since she dived into the porn business, but I noted (now at over 7k up from 1k when things started) there was a ceiling to her popularity:

There are already plenty of  younger more voluptuous women ready and willing to carry themselves more provocatively than Ms. Erin.  It won’t take long for the novelty to fade and then the stray lesbian kiss, topless shot or swing around a pole will not be enough to retain the interest and procure the monies of the MichaelDick73′s JDogg77′s and Machette42′s of the world.

I went to Ms. Knox twitter feed which I will not link here.  She has 4000+ followers as of today.  I can’t show you a screen shot because her feed is not just NSFW as Stacy called it, but contains explicit XXX images throughout including the heading.

Can anyone explain to me how Ms. Erin who hopes to make a living this way intends to compete for the attention of horny men and women with a woman 20+ years younger willing to create an explicit XXX twitter feed?

Of course she might decide to go the “Magdalene St. Michaels” route and appear WITH Ms. Weeks in a new edition AVN nominated series “Seduced by Mommy” or “My Mommy & Me” after all you can’t have such a series without a woman playing the “Mommy” and Ms. Erin is old enough to be Ms. Weeks’ mother.

Hooray!  Another job saved or created in the Obama economy!

4. Andrea X on steroids:

Speaking of Andrea X Stacy McCain, Vox Day & I all noted one of the reasons she is finding it so hard to get a job considering her “woman’s studies” major.

any employer looking at those degrees has to knows she is a walking, talking, sexual harassment and/or discrimination lawsuit waiting to happen.

In fact, a Gender Studies degree actually has negative value, given that credentialed feminists are considerably more likely to cause disruption in the workplace.

As Stacy put it

Outside of academia, non-profit activism or certain government jobs, no employer in his right mind would hire someone whose educational credentials identify them as an adherent of radical ideology. Better to major in Esperanto literature, really, than to advertise yourself as one of the Permanently Aggrieved.

I don’t agree with Michelle Obama on much but the truest words I ever heard a person speak was this:

The truth is, because of their lack of experience, as a rule young people are in fact knuckleheads. I think their overwhelming support of Mrs. Obama’s husband for president is clear evidence of her contention but it can’t compete with this incredible statement from Ms. Knox/Weeks in an interview:

Q: Do you worry that the way you paid for this will hurt you down the road? Part of a Duke degree is the Duke brand, but will this tarnish that brand?

I would never want to work for a company that discriminates against sex workers, that is sex-negative, or that shames women and disrespects them. I want to be a human rights and women’s rights lawyer, so I would only hope that I would be embraced by that community and they would see my experience as a tool and something good that I can use in my future career. I’m trying to use the platform that I have to turn this into a reflection of society of how to treat sex workers. I hope that when employers look at me, they don’t see me as a porn girl, but as someone who is outspoken about her experience and knows first hand about sexism in society, and I would hope that that would help me in my career if anything. I think that my resume and qualifications would speak for themselves.

Seriously, I mean SERIOUSLY?

You are placing sexually explicit photos of yourself out on twitter. You are acting in XXX rated porn films and plan on doing this for years to pay for college (and perhaps law school) and you really think that after years of marketing yourself as a sex object for people to masturbate to that once you graduate and pass the bar exam you will magically be able to turn a switch and potential employers will suddenly see you as a a young attractive job prospect rather than a young attractive professional sex object?

I’ve been accused of being naive but I’ve never been THAT naive.

Well as I said she is young and inexperienced so she likely doesn’t remember this post of mine  from 2009 concerning young women her age and an Australian porn company:

Now look at that video again, look at the faces. (ok try again guys the faces) This particular site is from Australia, I don’t know these girls from Adam Eve , but their friends and family do and 5 years from now or ten years from now their images will still be not only in the site archive but on torrents and downloads available anywhere in the world. Back to the article in question:

“What future careers are they jeopardizing by putting these images of themselves out on the worldwide web?

Can you imagine what happens when their faces are recognized when going for a job interview or recognized by a boss, co-worker or a person who they might supervise? Can you imagine you in that spot?

And you think you are going to get a job practicing law?

Can you imagine the voir dire process to seat a jury, it might take years…

Have you ever watched porn?

Have you ever seen counsel in a porn movie

Have you ever masturbated to a three way involving counsel?

Or an opposing lawyer if a trial starts going against them:

Your honor I move for a mistrial on the grounds you voted for opposing counsel for “best lesbian newcomer”  in an online poll

Yeah that’s going work great at trials, at least if you want to delay them for years.

The job market for lawyers is really tough but I suspect even the most ordinary candidate will not have trouble competing with someone with a series of three ways on their resume.

On the bright side it means you may have a long-term future in a series of The Lusty Lawyer goes to …. movies.

That this never occurred to you is simply amazing.  Andrea X likely has a better non-porn job future than Ms Knox.

In short the story of “Belle Knox”/Miriam Weeks is a preview of coming attractions for society and a warning to young women everywhere.  Ms. Weeks is too young & foolish to realize the longterm costs of her decisions and will have a lifetime to learn them.  The question becomes will our society figure out what generations of Americans who came before the baby boomers knew?

I’m betting against

Olimometer 2.52

Speaking of betting against it’s the last day of February, the mortgage is due and we are as of this writing $501.89 cents short and logically the odds of getting half a grand of tip jar hits in a day are fairly slim.

Then again I found out a nice young lady I know won millions on a scratch ticket today (she’s been working hard for years. I’m rather delighted for her and if she can manage to buck much longer odds to win millions $500 in tip jar hits in a day is definitely doable.

If the needle doesn’t move significantly today this will be, thirteen months the largest shortfall we have ever had and even if there were a sufficient amount of weirdos willing to pay money to see a fat bald fifty year old guy have sex to make it up (news flash there’s not!) even if there was unlike Ms. Knox/Weeks I not inclined to prostitute myself in that fashion.

What I am inclined is to hope that sufficient traffic bringing enough tip jar hitters to get the job will come, and if it doesn’t I’ll dip into what’s left of savings wear the belt a tad tighter and hope to do better next month and keep on fighting.

I submit & suggest it’s still a better long term plan than hers.

I have a long post on the Miriam Weeks Belle Knox business coming up tomorrow but before we get to that 2300 word piece I have a single question to ask her:

Your interview published at Real Clear Education has the following exchange:

Would you still do porn if Duke cost less?

No. If Duke had given me sufficient financial aid, if they had given me the proper resources and made college affordable for my family, I would not have done porn. I would’ve just gotten through college and been fine. The financial burden that Duke put on me was absolutely enormous and insurmountable with the resources that I had.

My question is:  Why would you not?

In your interview you talk about how you like porn, how you enjoy your work and how there is nothing wrong with it as evidenced by the explicit XXX images all over your twitter stream.

You have indicated that you are being paid enough to cover the 47K a year shortfall in your financial aid.  That’s a solid living, more than I was making working a 40 hour a week doing my tech job before HiWired folded in 2008, likely doing so with a lot less hours.

If this is true why would you only choose to take this path because of your college debt at Duke?  If you took the full boat you were offered at Vanderbilt and did this as your part time job you would have nearly $200K banked allowing you to buy a home outright and start with a huge advantage at graduation?

As a person whose son paid 10x I did for the same education at the same college 25 years apart I certainly agree on the ridiculous cost for college (particularly given the return on a woman’s studies major)  but I can’t reconcile your statements on how sex work is entirely acceptable but something you wouldn’t do unless you needed to pay for school.  As Stacy McCain put it:

While Ms. Weeks is willing, behind a pseudonym, to boast of her enjoyment in doing what she is paid to do on camera under another pseudonym, neither she nor the editors of the Chronicle want to assist curious Duke students in discovering what kind of “empowerment” is actually involved: Fellatio, anal sex, lesbian orgies, bisexual threesomes and even the video enactment of violent abusive rape fantasies: “The Bad Decision video is great. She gets choked, slapped, and raped, all of which I obviously approve,” says one reviewer of a Belle Knox video.

After all if Planned Parenthood says this is OK and you can make a good living at it why would you even consider ever doing anything else?

Take your time, I’ve here all week.

It’s Thursday and focusing on the pluses we are only %554 away from our monthly goal and a fully paid mortgage. down from nearly $700 at the start of the week.

Unfortunately with only two days to go we’re going to need $277 a day to make the our goal.

If we start our year (we go feb to Jan) it will be kind of a drag, but with your help we’ll make it.

Ick is just an argument about culture. It is the same argument that one would have heard concerning gay marriage less that 20 years ago.

DaTechGuy Richard Cohen Narcissist or Bigot 2008

Martin Rittenhome: Young man I sell over $14 million dollars a year worth of Geritol, Geritol, that’s the kind of businessman I am. That show twenty-one, cost me 3 1/2 million dollars year in and year out. Sales went up 50% when Van Doren was on. 50%! So the very idea that I was unaware of every detail or aspect of that show’s operation, well frankly it’s very insulting.

Any smart advertiser will tell you the secret of establishing brand loyalty starts at an early age.  For example the Radio Shack Ad at the Superbowl is effective because it brought a bunch of faces that people remembered that they enjoyed from their youth.  If you want to animate a person bring them thoughts from their youth and watch them light up.

As the years go by a familiar label, a particular taste will trigger the pocketbook more even that quality.  The fact that humans are creatures of habit builds on this.

Bottom line if you want to get a generation to like, want or accept something you want to get them to be thinking it at an early age and you’ve likely got them for their entire life.

The same is true with cultural changes creating heroes and villains.  Change comes slow.  If you want to move the ball of the culture or values, you have to get the ideas into kids heads when they are young.  Get em while they’re young and you’ve got em.

Which brings us to a rather disturbing trend in the pornography industry that favors Woody Allen. Continue reading “Woody Allen to the Porn Industry…Faster Please (Content Warning)”

When last we left Tami Erin she was involved in the Hustler Halloween Party

and that involvement has to some degree had the desired effect:  She has passed 6700 twitter followers

tami progress 2

and her website has cracked the top 900,000 mark in Alexa

tami progress

Personally I’d put a twitter button on that web site to increase the number of followers (no charge) but alas the attention has started to wane.  If you do a google search for Tami Erin under news But alas there hasn’t been much in news since that last burst of activity.
tami progress 3
And the news that’s there isn’t good:

Tami Erin, now 39, starred as Pippi when she was just 14, but images from her childhood role as the red-headed character are being used on multiple websites to promote her recent porn flick.

Now, according to TMZ, Columbia Pictures—the studio behind the family-friendly movie—is ordering the images of 14-year-old Erin not be used to promote the X-rated film.

TMZ reports that lawyers for Columbia demanded sites remove the old Pippi pictures, or else the studio would sue.

That’s from Nov 5th and if you look at Ms. Erin’s twitter stream you will see the latest fan tweet is also from Nov 5th.

So already the interest is down and in fact the problem that I mentioned before remains:

Experience, intelligence and chemistry have little or no value. Her only card against other younger women is a 25 year old children’s movie remembered by fewer and fewer people as time goes by. There are already plenty of younger more voluptuous women ready and willing to carry themselves more provocatively than Ms. Erin. It won’t take long for the novelty to fade and then the stray lesbian kiss, topless shot or swing around a pole will not be enough to retain the interest

And therein lies the problem, is there a formula,  an example,  a business model for the almost 40 year old Ms. Erin to follow to establish and maintain a living in her now chosen field?

Oddly enough there is. Continue reading “Tami Erin & the Magdalene St. Michaels Business Plan Calculated Risk Required (Content warning)”

The “sex-tape” is not a political statement. It is a social statement of how Americans are more likely to click on a link labeled “sex-tape” than they are legitimate news.

Alyssa Milano 2013

When last we left Tami Erin best known for playing Pippi Longstocking 25+ years ago she had gone from complaining about her boyfriend leaking a “sex tape” to deciding to market that same sex tape on her own.

She had also gone from about 1000 followers to over 3000 followers on twitter.

Well yesterday word came of the launch of her sex tape was released by Hustler Mag.  TMZ reports she has decided to ahem “embrace” the entire sex industry meme:

If she was shy before, she sure as hell ain’t now — Tami Erin (who starred in the 1988 Pippi Longstocking movie) has gone full-on Vegas stripper after her sex tape hit the market … and she’s even making out with one of Tiger Woods’ ex-mistresses.

The pics were snapped at a Halloween party she hosted over the weekend at Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club — surprise — and the ex-mistress on the receiving end of her smooches is porn star Joslyn James … aka Tiger mistress #11.

Her Twitter stream has an interesting set of pictures as well

And she’s gone from Longstockings to er…different stockings

Thanks to these decisions she now has nearly 6000 twitter followers and growing as she gains a clientele whose um …curiosity has been ahem aroused.

This tweet is typical and not surprising.  As my friend Robert Stacy McCain likes to say, it is a neutral objective fact that Ms Erin is an attractive women and it is also a neutral objective fact that there is a market for images of attractive women, particularly women who have appeared in mainstream, in various states of undress. Given photos like this… Continue reading “Tami Erin and the Hustler Gambit (Content Warning)”

On a non-religious level it seems to me you can not rationally say that gay marriage is ok and should be legal without also allowing either polygamy and incest between consenting adults. Both have a longer and more accepted cultural history worldwide.

And PLEASE don’t give me the “ick” factor argument about these other things being accepted. Ick is just an argument about culture. It is the same argument that one would have heard concerning gay marriage less that 20 years ago.

On Friday the Star Tribune published a story concerning a prank at a high school rally that was …”interesting”:

A prank on some blindfolded Rosemount High School athletes — they were unknowingly and at times amorously kissed by their parents during a recent pep fest — is collecting YouTube views by the tens of thousands and has the principal apologizing for what happened.

Here’s how the practical joke, originated by school staff members, played out during the assembly on Dec. 8:

The captains of the school’s winter sports teams — boys and girls — were lined up and blindfolded. They were told they would be kissed and then asked to guess who was on the other side of their lips.

Some of the parents during the 59-second YouTube video are seen holding the kisses for several seconds, cupping their child’s faces or embracing and swaying.

Deacon Greg is nauseated, The Anchoress is shocked.

I’d like to say I’m surprised but I’m not. I’ve been paying attention. It’s been just one year since the Swiss started talking the repeal of incest laws. It is only four months since psychologists met in DC to discuss “normalizing” pedophilia as a mental illness.

I think they both missed the most important line of the piece (all emphasis mine):

“There is no question that people were offended,” Wollersheim told the Star Tribune. “I apologize to those who were offended, and we won’t do it again.

“Anything that happens at this school is the principal’s responsibility. I take full responsibility. … There shouldn’t be an event in a school that we offend people with.

Note what is said. He is sorry that people were offended. Not that it was wrong, not that it was creepy, but that people were offended.

The implication that if people were NOT offended it would have been OK.

That more than anything else is the take away here, if it wasn’t for those puritanical prudes who were offended this would be no big deal and we could all have our fun.

That was the reaction of my 20-year-old son when I mentioned this visual at Stacy McCain’s site:

(the actual article from Teresa Koch in question is here)

The bottom line is that as a “mainstream” site, the PETA site is less likely to have viruses or spyware to hit your system, so why would a guy go to a pay porn site when they could go to PETA for free?

My thought was more along the lines of something that happened to a relative of mine. His left-leaning girl found him on a porn site and got very angry with him. I wonder if her reaction would have been different if he was on the PETA site, “Honey I’m not checking out Porn, I’m checking out PETA!”

It’s like the online version of Maxim magazine.

I asked a person I know who is engaged about this, and while she didn’t like the idea of her fiance on a porn site, she had no problem with PETA. Then when I posed the porn on PETA site question, she paused, saying “That’s just weird.”

I’m certain plenty of men will be thrilled to get free porn sans viruses and spyware, and PETA will be thrilled to get the numbers…

…but it’s not fooling anyone.

Well not really but it’s kinda funny to see this on the Britanica blog:

Many people may not have heard of ICANN, the organization that oversees the Internet’s top-level domains (TLDs; e.g., .com, .net, .org, .edu, .us), but a decision that they reached will likely affect millions of Web surfers, making it easier for them to identify porn sites from…ummm…non-porn sites. At its conference in Brussels, ICANN’s board gave initial approval for the creation of the .xxx TLD. According to the ICM registry, which backed the bid, there are some 110,000 pre-reservations for the domain–and they expect the first sites to pop up sometime in 2011.

This is actually rather significant in one respect. I talked to a friend of mine from my old HiWired days concerning porn and virus’. He said that 19 times out of 20 the virus’ we found on people machines were caused by surfing for porn. Said virus’ were always more likely to be found on a machine that didn’t use a “reputable” porn site. It will be interesting to see if this kind of “Red Light District” for the net will make it less likely that people trolling for porn online will find a electronic venereal disease.

On a less serious note that really ages me why is it that this story being in the Britannica blog makes me think of a bunch of teens from a century ago sneaking peeks at native girls in National Geographic? Is there anyone alive using the net old enough to get the reference?

It started on National Review continued at Pajamas media, and now keeps up at Little Miss Attila:

Just “keep him fed,” and “give him sex.” Keep him fed? And give him sex on his own schedule? I like doing both of those things for my husband as much as the next girl, but most people have three meals a day, and at least one snack, plus that daily/weekly/monthly sex session . . . how many hours a day do these people recommend a woman devote to keeping her man, in addition to whatever she does to earn a living? That ain’t libertarianism—it’s slavery.

Bottom line here? Fun or not fun, in the end Porn is well sin. And as a rule sin should be avoided whenever possible. As far as sex in marriage, it’s actually a lot easier than outside of marriage since you only have to figure out one other person but like anything else it takes work and anything worthwhile usually takes work.

Update: Via Glenn Althouse takes a swing. It’s my experience that if you give a man an excuse ninety nine times of one hunderd he will take it.
