Lionel: Yeah man just once I’d like for you to talk to me like I’m Lionel Jefferson and not a representative of the whole black race.
Mike: Oh C’mon Lionel I don’t do that.
Lionel: Sure man what’s the first thing you say whenever I see you, something about the “black” problem right?
Mike: C’mon Lionel, What do you want me to talk about the weather?
Lionel: Sometimes yeah. Black people have weather too. We get rained on and everything.

All in the Family The Games Bunkers Play 1973

On Sunday Jake Tapper had GOP Congreswoman Mia Love on and the topic was (as Hotair predicted it would be) how bad is trump for his comments on Haiti.  Here is the interview in full:

Now as I listened to this interview I was impressed by Mia Love (as I have been for years) that she kept trying to bring to the conversation to the issues and refused to play the “I’m a victim” card but take a look at the questions that were asked by Mr. Tapper:

How does it feel to hear these comments from the president?

You’re calling for president Trump to apologize he obviously hasn’t done so on twitter has he done so at all?

I want to get to DACA and the Dreamers in a second, but I do want to ask you because I remember talking to you during the 2016 campaign when President Trump was making a direct appeal to Haitian American voters, there’s a sizable community in Florida.  He really was going after their vote, how do those Haitian American’s feel today?

This weekend marked the anniversary of that devastating earthquake that struck Haiti eight year ago.  The Trump administration announced in November that by July 2019 it wants want to end the protected status designations for Haitians in the US granted after the earthquake  that of course protects individuals from deportation and authorizes them to work in the United States.  I know you want to change his mind, because Haiti is still reeling from that earthquake, do you think you can, do you think it’s possible to change his mind on this?

Speaking of leadership I have to observe Republican leaders have been pretty quiet about these comments which I know a lot of people consider empirically racist and offensive, are you disappointed?

I’m going to ask you about the Dreamers and DACA after this last question on the president’s comments:  What do you say to the Haitian American who comes to you and says:  ‘Congresswoman, I think the presidents racist.”?

The president’s comments come of course as lawmakers are trying to make a deal done on DACA and the dreamers as you’ve noted.  You’ve said you want legislative solutions for the dreamers.  On Friday the President threw out a deal brought to him saying didn’t properly fund the wall an it made what he calls ‘chain migration’ and ‘the diversity lottery’ worse Do you think there should be just a clean bill on dreamers just on dreamers with no border wall funding or anything else?

And it’s obviously tough for people to put emotions aside when such horrific expressions are…[Congresswoman love answers before the question is finished]

Where the comments racist do you think?

Now this hits one of my pet peeves ,whereby a person of color brought on a show is only asked about “person of color” questions or a Hispanic reporter is on a panel and only asks “Hispanic” questions as if North Korea, or Taxes or the economy are not issues that Hispanics or blacks care about. Furthermore Mia Love represents Utah’s 4th District, not Haiti yet all of Jake’s questions concerned either the president’s remarks or Haiti.

This irritated me and let to several passionate tweets on my part including this one:

It was this tweet that elicited the following responses from Mr. Tapper:

That actually seems an odd reply to that tweet, I presumed that Jake replied to the above tweet his response was actually directed to an earlier tweet saying the following:

Alas for me I had left for mass just after the tweet that Mr. Tapper replied, stayed late to talk with my Pastor and receive Confession, and then went to lunch with my wife so I didn’t see his response for hours later (I don’t do smart phones nor twitter away from my PC).   I thought it was rather sly for him to respond to the clearly incorrect point implying Congresswoman Love not having been on (I should have used the word rarely) rather than acknowledge the irony that the supposedly racist GOP not only elected the only senator of Haitian ancestry but did so in a majority white district.

Nevertheless given the link provided concerning last year’s March for Life Mr. Tapper and others is clearly correct that the other tweet was too broad a statement as he has in fact had congresswoman love on before discussing non-racial issues.  It’s actually odd that I’ve never seen her as I tend to watch Jake more than any other MSM person)

Rather than play musical tweets and rules lawyer,on which tweet was wrong and given both the error and the fact that several hours had passed by the time I had seen it I thought it best to simply admit the error at once and issue a mea culpa:

And since I’m not constantly at twitter I followed up with the following:

and that mea culpa tweet is my current pinned tweet and will be for another day.

But having made said Mea Culpa there is still a question on the floor and a point to be made

and a question to be asked

Why were there no questions outside of the context of Trump/Haiti (given that the supposed comments came at a meeting on DACA that would be within that context)?

It’s not like there weren’t a lot of good possible relevant questions, here are four possibilities:

We just spoke with Congresswoman Gabbard concerning the Ballistic Missile false alarm in Hawaii.  Have you been in contact with those who provide early warning either on the state or federal level concerning safeguards to prevent such a mistake?

Democrats are threatening a government shutdown this week over DACA.  This has been a scenario that has come up in the past with the GOP which took a lot of heat for it, do you anticipate a deal before them or does the party think it’s to their advantage to put the Democrats in that spot?

As you know longtime Utah Senator Hatch has announced he will not run for another term.  You’ve already stated you will not be running and former Massachusetts Senator & GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is generally thought to be in the running for the seat, have you been approached by the representatives of him or any other potential candidate for an endorsement?

The annual March for Life is coming up in a couple of weeks. Last year the Vice President spoke, do you anticipate this administration again having high level representation at this event or even the President himself being involved?

Why didn’t we see any questions like that?  I submit and suggest that the answer is the meme of the day for the MSM was “President shithole is a racist and so is the GOP is by association” and for reasons of both advancing said meme,  and drawing ratings by generating newsworthy quotes (which in fairness IS the first job of a person hosting a network show) the only goal was to get a soundbite to support that meme at all costs.

But to me the big story from that interview remains the ultimate irony that I’m sure was completely missed by the #nevertrump viewers dying for red meat:  that the person questioned to advance the “GOP/Trump Racist” meme  is a black republican woman elected in a 87% majority white distinct by those self same “racist” republicans.

Donald Trump Immigration

Sir Humphery Appleby: He’s also against oppression and persecution in Africa.

Prime Minister Jim Hacker: So are we.

Sir Humphery Appleby: Yes but he’s against it when practiced by black governments as well as white ones.

Prime Minister Jim Hacker: You mean he’s a racist.

Yes Prime Minister The Bishops Gambit 1986

The latest attempt to generate Trump outrage by the left is one again putting them into a logical quandary.

We have loud objections from Democrats and from leaders all over the world concerning Trump’s supposed remarks concerning Haiti and El Salvador etc etc etc

Yet at the same time we have the left saying things like this:

You see it’s a lot like the situation in Cities like Chicago and Baltimore, everybody knows the crime there is driven by gang violence and drugs that are plaguing the black community, but if you actually say that aloud or suggest that policing the area religiously is the solution the race card comes out to play.

It’s a lot easier to be outraged over a truth being said aloud, such outrage costs, than it is to actually tackle a systemic problem that needs to be solved, that takes time and effort and more importantly diverts funds usually reserved for graft.

But the real purpose for all this faux outrage is for the left to sell the black community the “Donald Trump racist” idea, because they have to do something to counter realities like this (emphasis mine):

Unemployment among black workers is at its lowest since at least the early 1970s, when the government began tracking the data.

The black unemployment rate of 6.8 percent in December was the lowest since the Bureau of Labor Statistics started tracking it in 1972, a year in which the rate ranged from 11.2 percent to 9.4 percent. In the 45 years the data has been tracked, the unemployment rate for black or African-American workers aged 16 years and older has never fallen below 7 percent.

and this (via Glenn)hidden in a piece claiming Trump is losing his base (emphasis mine)

“The outlier here isn’t [black] men … it’s [black] women, where you have near-universal disapproval of Trump,” said Cornell Belcher, a Democratic pollster who studies African American voters. Still, black men are one of the few groups for which Trump’s 2017 average approval rating significantly exceeds his 2016 vote share.

Among Hispanics, men were also much more likely than women to express positive views about Trump. Among Hispanic men older than 50, Trump’s approval— strikingly—exceeded 40 percent. But at least three-fifths of Hispanic women in every age group (including both those with and without a college degree) disapproved. Trump’s 2017 approval rating slightly exceeded his 2016 vote share among Hispanic men, and was slightly below it among Hispanic women.

The lower the black and Hispanic unemployment numbers become the greater the greater the need for the left to play the “Trump/racist” card because the contrast between the rising fortunes of the black community under Trump and the falling fortunes of that same community under Barack Obama are a damning indeed.

So the race card MUST be employed and Trump MUST be condemned for supposedly saying something everybody knows because if black man and/or Hispanic men abandon the Democrat plantation, it’s over forever and the left and media know it.

That’s the real source of their outrage. Never forget that.

To wit:

New York City’s annual Inner Circle Dinner brought New York politicians together for an evening of food and fun but also for stiff politicians performing awkward skits. Such was the case when former New York Senator Hillary Clinton and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio were on stage. Clinton poked fun at de Blasio for his endorsement coming a little late in the game for Clinton’s taste. “I just have to say thanks for the endorsement, Bill. Took you long enough,” she said to laughter.

“Sorry Hillary, I was running on C.P. time,” de Blasio responded to a mixture of chuckles and gasps. CPT is known as “colored people time” the stereotype that African Americans generally tell as a reason for being late to an event or a traditionally black event not beginning on time.

The title of the piece is: Hillary Clinton and Bill de Blasio set off cringing with painful joke about ‘colored people time’

Cringing? If this was said by Donald Trump or Ted Cruz nobody would be talking about “cringing” they would be talking about institutional racism and there would be demands for apologies all around.

However a “D” next to your name not only means never having to say you’re sorry it also means that nobody in the media will ever ask you to be.

Here is the question: Will Bernie Sanders or his supporters call them on this?

When I saw this story:

Portland Community College has designated April “Whiteness History Month” (WHM), an “educational project” exploring how the “construct of whiteness” creates racial inequality.

And this description of what Portland Community College is doing with it

“‘Whiteness History Month: Context, Consequences, and Change’ is a multidisciplinary, district-wide, educational project examining race and racism through an exploration of the construction of whiteness, its origins, and heritage,” PCC states on its website. “Scheduled for the month of April 2016, the project seeks to inspire innovative and practical solutions to community issues and social problems that stem from racism.”

The WHM site makes clear that the project is not a “celebratory endeavor” like heritage months, but is rather “an effort to change our campus climate” by “[challenging] the master narrative of race and racism through an exploration of the social construction of whiteness.” (“Challenging the master narrative,” PCC explains, “is a strategy within higher education that promotes multicultural education and equity.”)

My first thought was instantly “Class action suit waiting to happen”

There are specific laws concerning Racial Discrimination and also very likely rules at the college concerning “hostile work / educational environments”. Our friends on the left have been pushing these rules for decades.

What happens if white students, white workers and white administrators decide to launch discrimination suits based on those laws?

I think the results of such suits might be very interesting, don’t you?

On an unrelated note it’s gratifying that the students at this school are so advanced on math, english and all the important disciplines that can get you a job that they have time for this kind of thing

It’s 24 hours since Vester Williams decided to take his racial grievances to a lethal ending murdering two people he believed wronged him, shooting a third because she was there filming it, facebook and tweeting it and then finally shooting himself.

Many of our friends on the left from Hillary Clinton to much less well known people didn’t let this crisis or the bodies go to waste, instantly using it as a meme to push their agendas. While that was both unexpected and despicable it was a totally expected result as was the sudden pivot of certain people once it was discovered that the shooter was a black man.

Additionally because of his perceived racial grievance that was his motive I suspect many people, who have for the last several years have been radicalized by a concerted effort by certain people to push racial division in this country for both their own monetary & political profit, will find themselves justifying and or excusing acts that would be normally be unquestionably condemned either on social media or in private.

While all of that is disgusting there is going to be one other result of this murder that while it will get little or no discussion is going to have a lasting effect in business in general and in newsrooms in particularly all over the country.

From this point on if you are a in a newsroom and someone cries “racial discrimination” the name of Vester Flanagan will come to mind and that news director, that manager and the others in that workplace will ask themselves: “Is there any chance that this person will crack and try to kill me?”.

Even worse thanks to the very public nature of this crime this thought is going to extend far beyond newsrooms. Just as the riots in Ferguson will be on the mind of every chain considering opening in an urban neighborhood every hiring manager who saw this story will have this in mind when a person is involved.

Now logically this is not a common thing, this is not a likely thing and such a reaction is not rational, but it is very human.

I’d hate to be a person of color seeking a job in that atmosphere.

While in his mind Vester Williams was striking a blow to right a racial wrong, and justified his actions and murder accordingly (likely considering the person being interviewed as collateral damage). This is a horrible evil thing, but the long term damage he will be doing, particularly to other professional young black men and women is incalculable.

This is the gift that Vester Williams has given to every black employee in every newsroom in the country and beyond. It’s not fair, but neither is life.

…then on every network you would be seeing activists decrying Parker and Ward as the lowest of the low. Stating they were emblematic of the Racism in media and demanding they be dismissed. On twitter you would be seeing people calling them bigots at best and likely a whole lot worse and both of them would have become so radioactive as to be practically unemployable and Flanagan would not only have been hailed as a heroic whistleblower, a symbol of black oppression he would have been invited to speak at events all over the nation, and any person who doubted his story or defended either Ward or Parker they would have immediately been denounced as racists both online and in media.

That would have been the end result if Vester Flanagan has shot off his mouth rather than his gun.

Keep that in mind the next time someone is so quick to cry racism and be ready to destroy someone.

Related: What happens when a meme goes wrong:

I suspect that if Flanagan had made those charges Deray would have been right behind him.

Update: Stacy McCain

If someone says they are a victim of racism, sexism or homophobia, and then they use claims of victimhood to justify violence, how seriously should we take their political arguments? It’s a hall of mirrors. If we say Vester Flanagan was just a disgruntled kook, what does that make Al Sharpton? Isn’t he just a more successful disgruntled kook?

Twitchy reported that fans of the Black Lives matter movement decided to poke fun at the “all lives matter” resonse using he death of Cecil the Lion:

This week, though, in the wake of the outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion, a number of activists have decided to swap #BlackLivesMatter for #AllLionsMatter. Honestly, #BlackLivesMatter plus a sense of humor is a pretty potent combination.

However there is an incredible irony that is revealed in this post at Althouse emphasis mine

“Why are the Americans more concerned than us?” said Joseph Mabuwa, a 33-year-old father-of-two cleaning his car in the center of the capital. “We never hear them speak out when villagers are killed by lions and elephants in Hwange.”

Apparently the black population of Zimbabwe have noticed that American activists are very selective about which black lives matter.  Particularly when compared to a lions.

Update:  Apparently it all comes down if you’re eating them:

Radio Equalizer’s Brian Maloney wonders where the outrage over Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe’s treatment of endangered animals?

While a social media mob has Dr Walter Palmer fearing for his life, it was only five months ago that Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe was served a lavish feast that included lion meat and a mass slaughter of baby elephants and other endangered animals.

It was also described as a “lion trophy” and its age described as “old”, according to state and independent press reports.

Update 2:  what they said

Yesterday the big news was the indictment of police officer Ray Tensing for the killing of Samuel DuBose

It’s certainly a legit story and Samuel DuBose’s names deserves attention but let me ask you something.

Do you recognize any of these names?

Franklin Grayson, Michael Polston, Jaswinder Singh, Charles Diggs, Damon L. Ramey, Daquan Mason, Clerow Myers III, Jefferson Bolden, Raja’ee Naneem Sincere, Sina Masoodii, Albert Mullen, Shyteak Lawrence, Delvin Trusty, Damon Tidale, Terron Singleton, Ronald Davon Penn, Steven Justin Lewis, Frederick S. Taylor, Marvin Coston Jr, Dante Barnes, Darrius Johnson, Tyrell Hardy, James Ricardo Smith, Gregory Higgins, Gary Jackson, Eric Forrester, Antonio anderson, Jacqueline Parker , Gerald Thompson, Lamont Randall Jr., John F. Davis, Derwin Jones, Edward Burroughs, Keith Glascoe, Josh Remus Burnett, and Nathaniel Wheeler Jr.

All of these people have two things in common.

1.  All of them were murdered in Baltimore this month

2.  None of their murders were considered worthy of the coverage by the MSM

If you are surprised by this then you likely aren’t paying attention.

I suspect that the likelihood of the MSM finding these deaths worth their attention the same as a candidate running for president on a major party ticket plagiarizing this speech

Ok let me make sure I understand this:

Despite objective biological facts, the media and our culture demand that because a man by the name of Jenner insists and imagines himself to be woman, pays money for hormone treatment to increase female hormones into his body, and changes his physical appearance using makeup and clothing to portray himself as a woman, we are not required to accept it as fact. Furthermore our cultural elites insist that not doing so is a sign of closed minded bigotry.

HOWEVER

If despite objective biological facts, a woman by the name of Dolezal insists and imagines herself to be black that’s different story:

Rachel Dolezal serves as chair of the independent commission, in addition to her work as an adjunct faculty member at Eastern Washington University and president of the NAACP local chapter. On her application to serve on the commission, she identified herself as African-American. But public records, including Dolezal’s own birth certificate, list her biological parents as Ruthanne and Lawrence Dolezal of Montana. The Dolezals told KXLY Thursday that Rachel is their biological daughter and that they are both white.

Hold on a second here, what do facts or a birth certificate have to do with this?

If a person physically alters themselves to remove male or female organs and has plastic surgery to create the appearance the other sex not only does the law allow them to be considered the opposite sex despite the biological & DNA evidence but they’re allowed in some cases to alter their birth certificates to reflect the sex they claim to because despite the objective evidence of biology gender is a “social construct” then why would not race be also a social construct? After all compared to the biological differences between men and woman the biological differences between various races are practically non-existent.

Furthermore most of us can not trace our ancestry back to the beginning of time race so who is to say that there is not a different racial ancestry in our past then what is physically apparent?

Given these facts It’s apparent that anyone who is unwilling to accept MS Dolezal transracial identity is properly identified as a bigot who is trapped in the evil western cultural racial identity paradigm.

Because if the NAACP and the left refuse to do so then they might have to admit that there is such a thing as objective fact and that admission would be too horrible for them to contemplate.

Update: Glenn beat me to it:

SHE’S TRANS-BLACK. DON’T SHAME HER. NAACP leader and civil rights activist outed as WHITE by her parents who say she’s been pretending to be black for years. She’s obviously transitioning, and we should support her choice.

Update 2: Kirk had the best advice against self delusion:

Update 3: Allahpundit:

“Trans” in this context is a term used to describe adoptions that cross racial lines, not to imply that she or her family had “transitioned” a la Caitlyn Jenner from one race to the other — although maybe now Dolezal has no choice but to make that argument. When you’ve committed a fraud this absurd and elaborate, involving fake dads and fake sons and almost certainly fake hate crimes, the only path back to a modicum of sympathy is claiming that your identification with African-Americans is so complete that your entire racial identity has shifted because of it.

and Batshitcrazy news looks at a picture and decleares #orangeisthenewblack

I keep thinking of Pilate’s questions to Jesus: “What is truth?”

Update 4: The Anchoress absolutely nails it:

Mark it down, people. June 2015 is when the human animal declared “who the hell are God and Science to dare tell us what the truth is, anyway?” Faith in one’s feelings trumps both. Individual feelings are become a personal truth, and personal truth is absolute and unassailable reality.
“Only a Sith thinks in absolutes”, said Obi-Wan, and only mean people think in terms of Objective Truth. “I know what I know, and it’s the truth”; subjectivity is The New Absolute. The New Absolute is the Almighty Me, and what I AM.

Thou shalt have no other gods but ME

One of the biggest problems for the left in election 2016 will be not having Barack Obama on the ballot.

Given the abject failure of his policies one would think that this is a good thing but it was not just conservatives staying home but black voters determined that the first black president not be considered a one term failure that even though he failed them dramatically they turned up in numbers to push him over the finish line.

But now with Hillary Clinton the likely nominee and all the alternatives being elderly white people (Elizabeth Warren is just as old as Hillary) how do you turn out the black vote?

Can a get a little racial tension here:

Police in riot gear made 71 arrests Saturday as protesters stormed the streets of Cleveland after a judge found a white city police officer not guilty in the deaths of two unarmed black suspects killed in a barrage of police gunfire.

The protesters gathered in downtown Cleveland and west side neighborhoods after the acquittal of patrolmen Michael Brelo.

The Judge in the Cleveland Case before reading his verdict said:

“The verdict should be no cause for a civilized society to celebrate or riot.”

However the need to create a racial division prior to a national election to make sure the right people get power, that’s another story.

What do you think the Soros group was paying protesters, just for the fun of it?

I could be dead wrong, but as our friends on the left say, “Never let a crisis go to waste” but perhaps the line should be:  If you can’t find a crisis to exploit, make one.

And if society and the people you are supposedly helping pay the price, what’s the difference?  It’s all about keeping power, and it’s not like we believe in anything anyways.

Update: By an odd coincidence

We aren’t hearing from the #blacklivesmatter crowd about these people but since none of these black lives contribute to a meme that re-elects democrats they apparently they don’t matter.

And they’re certainly not worth paying $5000 a head to have someone protest them.
