When I wrote about Robert Menendez a few days ago one of the stories I linked to mentioned how the justice department didn’t move against him until he had not only gone against the Dem party line on a couple of issues but when is vote in the Senate became expendable once Obama was safely re-elected and the majority already lost.
But there is a new twist these days to this story that suggests his status has changed, consider this:
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders refused to say whether or not New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez should resign if he’s convicted of charges related to corruption.
“Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa,” Sanders told Jake Tapper on CNN’s ‘State of the Union” Sunday morning. “You know, I think in this country, people are entitled to due process. I’m not into speculating what if. That will be Menendez’s decision. He has not been convicted. Let the process take its course.”
What? The conscience of the left won’t suggest Menendez should resign? That’s interesting, but what’s more interesting is he’s not alone:
Schumer later ignored a question asking whether Menendez should resign if he is convicted. Federal prosecutors allege Menendez took bribes for years and attempted to cover it up, while using the power of his office to benefit a wealthy donor.
“I think I’m not going to go down that path,” Cardin said in response to a question about the possibility of a conviction. “Obviously we are all waiting to see what happens with the outcome of that.”
This seems to make no sense, after all the GOP already has the majority and even with Chris Christie appointing a replacement until a special election can anyone give a reason why Democrats to care if the GOP majority is 52-48 or 53-47?
Actually I can give you three:
Senators: John McCain, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
Thanks to the determined efforts of these three GOP Senators the attempt to repeal Obamacare, pass Tax Cuts and Defund Planned Parenthood have been one vote shy, stopping them in their tracks, forcing the president to use the same executive order tactics that the previous administration has to try, to get around them.
But if Senator Robert Menendez is forced to resign then Governor Chris Christie appointment might become that vital 50th vote to allow Donald Trump to do all three.
So because of this, utilitarian Democrats have decided that it doesn’t matter if Menendez is convicted of corruption or banged and paid off underage women, as long as that vote saves Obamacare, Planned Parenthood funding (which is funneled to Democrat candidates) even in the post Harvey Weinstein era Democrats will stand by their man.
In fact I submit and suggest that if Harvey Weinstein was the Senator from NJ the media and the left would be defending his right to hold his seat and the media would be joining them.
As I have no sexual secrets of rich liberals to keep for a price I have to make my buck by going places and doing interviews all the time hoping people like it enough to pay for it.
