The Taliban, ISIS, and the War on Terror

Gautama Buddha gave the world what is known as the four (4) Verities.  One of the four verities proclaims that “to live is to suffer.” The Buddha was not the only one to speak about the pain and suffering that we experience in life.  Job exclaimed that Man that is born of a woman is … Continue reading The Taliban, ISIS, and the War on Terror

The Price For Saving Bergdahl

By A.P. Dillon Army Sargeant Bow Berghdahl, held by the Taliban since 2009, was recently released. A rather timely release given the President's drop in the polls and his administration being hit by one scandal after another. The VA scandal has this administration on the hot seat and it's just getting worse. A senior Obama administration official told Al … Continue reading The Price For Saving Bergdahl

How I would have done the Bergdahl Trade

One of he few credible arguments for the re-election of Barack Obama over Mitt Romney in 2012 came 20 years earlier from a magazine article I had read at the time.  It was an interview with a  centurion journalist who had been covering the White House  back in the days of Coolidge.  He was asked … Continue reading How I would have done the Bergdahl Trade

One of Time Magazine’s examples

Of why we are fighting: The Taliban has executed a pregnant widow accused of adultery in western Afghanistan, provincial and district officials said Monday. The 47-year-old woman, Sanam Gul, also known as Sanam Bibi, was killed in Badghis province Saturday morning, said Ashrafuddin Majidi, the provincial governor's spokesman. The district governor of Qades, Hashim Habibi, … Continue reading One of Time Magazine’s examples

If the Taliban has actually started taking prisoners…

...instead of killing troops outright, then they have unfortunately gotten smart. A soldier who knows he will not be taken prisoner is much more motivated to fight to the death. If they start following the rules of war even to a small degree the propaganda value and morale value will be very valuable to them.

Good news from the war front:

Looks like a big fish has been landed: The Taliban’s top military commander was captured several days ago in Karachi, Pakistan, in a secret joint operation by Pakistani and American intelligence forces, according to American government officials. The administration is allowed to take credit here and we should not hesitate to approve when they either … Continue reading Good news from the war front:
