Before I started my Perpetual twitter Novena praying for people who attacked the Catholic church online on a daily basis I often found myself in arguments with such people.

During those jousts one of my favorite tools was to quote Matthew Kelly’s speech at the Catholic Men’s conference:

Every single day the Catholic Church feeds more people, houses more people , clothes more people, visits more imprisoned people and educates more people than any other institution on the planet earth can ever hope to.

Matthew Kelly Worcester Mass. March 20th 2010

Those facts about the Catholic Church both in history and today are something our secular friends do their best to ignore and hide from the people but every now and then those who hate the church without meaning to do our work for us

For example, in trying to raise public hackles over the fact that Catholic institutions don’t perform abortions, the ACLU reminded everyone, in a report issued late last week, of something truly impressive: One out of every six patients in the United States is cared for in a Catholic hospital.

To that, I’d like to add some other meaningful facts: There were nearly 20 million emergency-room visits, more than 100 million outpatient visits and more than 5 million admissions last year to these institutions.

They employ almost 800,000 workers. They save more lives, release patients sooner and have better overall patient-satisfaction ratings than non-religious facilities. They demonstrate significantly better results than for-profit and government hospitals on patient safety, length of stay and patient satisfaction.

Oh, and their dedication to the common good leads them to offer services that are distinctly unprofitable.

Cue Michael Kelly again:

When Jesus was alive, where were the sick people? There in hospitals right? Yeah we’re reading the scriptures: Jesus came to the village and said: “Take me to the hospital I want to cure some sick people.” Nope NO there ain’t such thing as a Hospital any thing that’s good about modern healthcare emerged through the church emerged essentially through the religious orders

If the culture of today’s secular liberalism had been there when the church introduced hospitals and education for the masses we would be still living in a feudal age consisting of the very rich and the very poor.

Or basically what the left is trying to remake California as.

Six months ago I bluntly told you that in a Ted Cruz Donald Trump race, Trump was the establishment pick:

If Ted Cruz is willing to take on practically his entire caucus as the junior senator against a powerful Senate leader how much more willing will he be willing to do so with the bully pulpit & the power that comes with it in his hands? The Supreme Court Fights alone will be epic and I suspect a man as familiar with the court as he will managed to find actual conservatives to both nominate and fight for.

Now contrast that worry with what the Establishment will had to deal with in a Trump administration. Picture a group of people appointed by a pragmatic deal maker and picture the establishment and even the left having to deal with Trump and his appointees, many of whom will be self-made and have absolutely no loyalty to the conservative electorate that said establishment loathes so much.

Then finally consider Trump himself, he prides himself as being person who is a great negotiator and dealmaker. The problem with a dealmaker is the key question: “What do you give up to make the deal?”

If you are an Establishment republican or even a democrat that question will console you, but as a social conservative it does not.

So for me it’s no surprise that John Boehner is now on the Trump train:

The former House speaker also described the two other Republican candidates as friends. He recalled playing golf with Republican frontrunner Donald Trump for years, and said they were “texting buddies.” Despite Trump being short of the 1,237 delegates required to win the nomination, Boehner accepted that The Donald is the presumptive Republican nominee.

While he did not praise Trump’s policies, the former speaker said he would vote for The Donald in a general election. He said he would not, however, vote for Cruz.

What? This isn’t possible, we’ve just been told for months by the Trump campaign that Ted Cruz is the insider and Donald Trump was the outsiders and that Ted Cruz maintaining the opposite was lying.

Next thing you’ll be telling me that Ted Cruz is telling the Truth about Donald Trump being liberal:

Boehner may have attacked Obama’s sharpest critic, but he had positive words for the president himself. The Stanford Daily reported that the former speaker “reflected positively on his relationship with Obama. Although he acknowledged that the two disagree, Boehner said the two get along well.” While it is good to make friends across the aisle, the sharp criticism against a fellow Republican — one of the most insistent and orthodox conservatives in recent memory — contrasted with praise for the putative head of the Democratic Party strikes conservatives the wrong way.

The former House speaker also praised Hillary Clinton, after briefly mocking her sexist campaign. “Oh, I’m a woman, vote for me,” he said, but the crowd reacted negatively. Later, he admitted that he has known Clinton for 25 years and finds her to be very accomplished and smart.

Boehner also added that he thinks Bernie Sanders is a nice guy and the most honest politician in the race, even though he disagrees with the Vermont senator’s positions on nearly all of the issues.

So to sum up, John Boehner, fan of Clinton, fan of Sanders, fan of Obama, fan of Trump, hates Ted Cruz.

What does that tell you? I know what that tells Ted Cruz:

“If you’re wondering who has actually stood up to Washington,” Cruz said, “John Boehner has made it crystal clear” that Donald Trump is not that candidate

As Allahpundit put it, this would have been more useful six months ago which is likely why Boehner kept his mouth shut till now.

Oh Boehner and friends aren’t stopping at hitting Ted Cruz:

The same players who detest Ted Cruz have now recruited a straw man RINO to run against Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), one of the most intrepid conservatives in the House of Representatives.

and who are they funding to oppose him?

Well, who is Tom Atkinson? He is the quintessential wealthy trans-ideological Republican. He donated to a liberal Democrat, Kathy Taylor, who ran against the Republican mayor of Tulsa. That Republican mayor, Dewey Bartlett, is Tom Atkinson’s own brother-in-law! Atkinson has tapped Shane Saunders, a former aid to John Sullivan, the RINO Bridenstine defeated in 2012. Saunders is known to be close with Boehner as well.

On Atkinson’s campaign website and in his ads, he sells himself as a conservative and not a politician. But how could a conservative donate to a prominent Democrat who funded Emily’s List and held fundraisers for Joe Biden?

So for all the republicans who were outraged over John Boehner who have within a few months of cheering his departure bought into the false attacks on Ted Cruz by the Trump campaign let Ted answer it directly:

John Boehner, in his remarks, described Donald Trump as his texting and golfing buddy. So if you want someone that’s a texting and golfing buddy, if you’re happy about John Boehner, Speaker of the House, and if you want a president like John Boehner, Donald Trump’s your man.

A lot of people have been played this cycle and in the internet age there is no excuse for it.

When I first conceived this piece it was going to be something different.

When the NYT came out with their piece about a loan for the first Ted Cruz campaign for Senate it was meant to bring out visions of an evil conspiracy by the folks at Goldman Sacks to deceive conservatives whose main cog was Senator Cruz’s wife Heidi. For big money to seize the White House under the guise of the Tea Party

It was the perfect story for the MSM. Cruz as a phony beholding to the wealthiest of the wealthy & his wife as Hillary Clinton, the scheming conniver behind the throne, in disguise.

Now of course the truth of the matter is quite different and easily explained.

I was going to use this piece to point out that if you have a Whole Life insurance policy, a bank account or a 401K account, an annuity account etc and have ever taken out a loan against it to finance something important like college, a house, or even something trivial like a boat, you have done exactly what Ted Cruz did. His crime apparently is having a successful wife who had a good job and stocks to borrow against so that he could get a bigger loan than most people do (which is another club to hit the senator with, he married too well). The whole thing is smoke and mirrors meant to plant a meme for the media to run with.

“But DaTechGuy”, you ask, “ That doesn’t address the single most important part of the story, if this was all on the up and up, why did he conceal it?”

Well thank to Syndicated Columnist Phil Kerpen and the wonders of twitter, the answer is quite simple to give and prove, HE DIDN’T!

If you want to argue that Senator Cruz should have had this in his FCC report that is a fair statement, but if you want to argue that Cruz had some cunning plan to hide this info which the MSM want to play up, then including it on a financial disclosure statement filed with the Federal government seems an odd way of doing it.

Now this will of course not stop either the MSM or other campaigns to continue to play this card. It’s only to be expected, the MSM hates conservatives, the other campaigns because they are desperate to catch up and the establishment GOP because they Cruz more than they do Trump.

Unexpectedly.

But I, maybe naively, expect that if you are a conservative activist, even one who supports a different candidate, you hold yourself to a higher standard and are smart enough not to trust the New York Times and the MSM it feeds.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

Pacifist:Strongly and actively opposed to conflict and especially war.

Merriam Webster online dictionary

King Henry IV:As the good Lord said: “Love thy neighbour as thyself, unless he’s Turkish, in which case, kill the bastard!”

Black Adder Born to be King 1983

One of my regular stops on the net is to the Elder of Ziyon links page which gives an excellent roundup of what is happening in Israel.  On Friday I saw this piece linked:

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu responded on Friday to an investigative report that appeared last night on Channel 2’s “Uvda” show, which revealed how radical leftist activists hand Palestinian Arabs over to the Palestinian Authority (PA) to be executed.

Right-wing activists infiltrated leftist groups and caught the activist Ezra Nawi on camera saying he gives the PA the names of Arabs who are interested in selling land to Jews, so that the PA can torture and “kill them.” Other radical leftists were also exposed involved in the activities.

I did not recognize the name of Ezra Nawi so I googled him and found his entry in Wikipedia which says the following at of 12:53 PM on Friday January 8th.

Ezra Itzhak Nawi (Hebrew: עזרא יצחק נאווי‎; born 1952) is an Israeli human rightsactivist and pacifist. He is particularly active among the Bedouin herders and farmers of the South Hebron Hills[1] and against the Israeli illegal settlements.[2] He has been described as a “Ta’ayush nudnik“,[3] and “a working-class, liberal gay version of Joe the Plumber“.[4][5]

His critics regard him as an extreme leftist activist and troublemaker.[6][7] He has been charged for numerous infractions of the law, convicted for a number of offences, and served several short stints in prison as a consequence of his activism.[2] According toDavid Shulman, he is an Israeli exponent of Gandhian civil disobedience.[8][9][10]

Now I’m not a pacifist nor do I claim to be an expert on Gandihian civil disobedience but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t involve neither turning over the names of people to “governments” so they can be executed for selling land.  I also don’t know Joe the Plumber but I’m not aware of him secretly or otherwise trying to arrange the death of anyone for trying to sell land they own.

And of course this practice is being defended by the group doing it while claiming:

B’Tselem added that it “opposes all torture and all executions…whether they are done in Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) cellars or in the Palestinian Authority,” but did not comment on the fact that the sales are reported with the full intention that the seller should be killed.

That in itself is ironic, but consider for a second we are talking about a Jew actively working for the death of Palestinian Arabs, who is celebrated by the left.

So remember if you are a Jew, leftist are OK with you facilitating the death of Palestinian Arabs, as long as they are the right Arabs.

Unexpectedly

This comes as no surprise to me:

The National Security Agency (NSA) swept up conversations with U.S. lawmakers as it monitored lobbying on the Iran nuclear deal by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides.

If you are shocked or angry about this, then you simply haven’t paid attention. After all if you’ve demonstrated that there are no consequences to any actions that our Chicago thug in chief takes why would he show any restraint on spying on congress? An abusive husband doesn’t stop unless there is a price.

Ron Fournier notwithstanding…

…I predict that if a president Cruz or Trump does this the MSM will suddenly find this behavior outrageous and demand punitive action.

Yesterday when the Pope made remarks on Climate Change the Networks trumpeted it from the highest heights.

However this was not the only newsworthy thing he did:

Given the Obamacare mandate lawsuit and the President’s statement to the Pope concerning religious freedom, the fact that his government is suing them to force them to violate their faith is ironic, so the Pope’s visit would seem quite newsworthy.

Unless you are NBC

little sisters nbc

Or CBS

little sisters cbs

or MSNBC

little sisters msnbc

or CNN

little sisters cnn

ABC found it much more newsworthy than the others. They decided it was worth two whole sentences!

-NOTED: Yesterday, Pope Francis made an off-the-record visit to the Little Sisters of the Poor to show his support for their fight against the contraception mandate in the Affordable Care Act, ABC’s MEREDITH MCGRAW notes. In late August, the Denver-based 10th Circuit Court of Appeals granted the Little Sisters of the Poor a short-term shelter from the mandate.

That is considerably less coverage that Twitchy managed to give it by 9:51 PM last night.

Given that the idea of the Pope making the republicans uncomfortable has been a constant theme of media coverage you would think that this symbolic move of support for Nuns being sued by the US government might be a tad more newsworthy.

One would almost think the MSM had an agenda when it comes to their coverage of the Pope and this particular Pontifical visit doesn’t fit it.

Update: Somehow Aleteia found time to cover it

The meeting, which was not on the pope’s publicly-released schedule of events, was held just hours after the pontiff met with President Obama at the White House. Father Lombardi did not say where, but he noted that the Little Sisters have a convent near the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, where Pope Francis celebrated a late afternoon Mass. It is likely that he visited the order just after celebrating the liturgy.

If ONLY the msm had access to the same resources as Aleteia does.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what they’re good for.

Hey Ferguson has discovered the liberal recipe for success:

START:  With a young thug who robs a store, assaults the clerk and charges a police officer getting killed in a progress.

ADD: A fabricated story about “Hands up”. Radical advocates looking to provoke a racial incident.

MIX IN:   A media and White House looking to increase tensions for political reasons

BAKE:   With Riots and violence excused by the left due to oppression

When it’s all done here is what it yields:

Ferguson, Mo. lost its investment-grade rating Thursday when Moody’s Investors Service dropped its rating four notches in a sign of the financial fallout from the fatal 2014 police shooting of Michael Brown.

Four Notches, not one, not two, not three but four from Aa3 to Ba1.

The once plentiful reserves of the city northwest of St. Louis are dwindling and the city could be headed toward insolvency as soon as 2017, Moody’s said.

“Key drivers of this precipitous drop are declining key revenues, unbudgeted expenditures, and escalating expenses related to ongoing litigation and the Department of Justice consent decree currently under negotiation,” Moody’s wrote

You mean to say riots, arson and attacks on police might discourage business and investment and be a detriment to the solvency of a city?  Who knew!

Twenty Six months ago after a laughable segment on Morning Joe (Sans Joe & Mika) where in one breath they talked about the disaster that was (and is) Egypt and Syria we made fun of them here:

The blind spot was incredible, just before talking Clinton, they talked Egypt, right after they were done with Hillary they mentioned Egypt but the fact that Hillary was the Secretary State. The person who helped cement the Muslim Brotherhood takeover, not a word.

A week later after being critiqued for pointing to her record, I asked the gentleman who critiqued me on twitter to name a Hillary accomplishment and was told it was an irrelevant subject

Yeah there is nothing more “tiresome” or blindly “partisan” than being asked to name an accomplishment of a woman who served four years as Secretary of State, particularly when you can’t think of one.

10 months later (16 months ago) Bill Kristol asked the question to the Morning Joe table. John Heilmann Chuck Todd & Mika Brzezinski had nothing

Picture being a member of the MSNBC partisan audience base sitting there at home watching. You’ve always taken the question of Hillary’s qualifications and accomplishments as a given. Suddenly you’re confronted with Bill Kristol’s direct question. A question so simple you’re tempted to laugh, instead you sit there in tongue-tied disbelief unable to answer yourself and watching the best and brightest of MSNBC fail to provide an answer for you.

Five months ago the day Hillary announced her candidacy I repeated the question on a 50,000 watt radio station during a three hour show heard in some of the bluest states in the nation no answer was forthcoming & the MSM wasn’t inclined to ask for one:

I expect in the media we will hear much of the rollout, of the style, of how she presents herself and what her chances are. I can only guess what the media will say but I suspect that absent a blunder so huge it can’t be ignored, the rollout will be reported positively.

But what I can say with almost absolute certainty is that the question I first asked two years ago and have repeated ever since will remain unanswered:

What accomplishment(s) if any can Hillary Clinton point to as secretary of state that qualify her to be the leader of the free world?

This Monday I declared Hillary Toast and yesterday for the first time a poll showed her trailing in both NH & Iowa stunning even Bernie Sanders and lo and behold the Washington Post ran a story with this title:

In Clinton, voters see a long résumé but a short list of accomplishments

and the story notes the problem I’ve been talking about for years

But something surprising has emerged in public opinion about the former first lady, senator and secretary of state. Asked to name something tangible that Clinton has actually accomplished, many voters come up blank.

And throughout the story the answer never comes.

So 26 months later the MSM has officially noticed the question: “What are Hillary’s actual accomplishments?” and didn’t have an answer to the question either.

I was going to welcome them to finally noticing what we’ve seen Since July 2013 but in a final irony, within 12 hours of the story being posted the Washington Post renamed it:

Hillary Clinton tries to show that her record is more than just talk

Apparently noting the Hillary’s lack of accomplishments in a headline remains a bridge too far for the MSM to maintain…

…UNEXPECTEDLY

Update: Ed Morrissey

Tumulty actually does list a couple of claims from Hillary and her supporters of accomplishments. Unfortunately, they both belong to others.

and Ed Driscoll:

So Hillary’s got the election completely sewn up I guess, and it’s only a matter of time before tingles start running up and/or down the legs of MSNBC hosts:

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what they’re good for.

There are some Unexpectedly Chronicles post that you need to explain to readers and some that you don’t.

Yeah especially for those who destroy evidence or lie to grand juries?’

If I was Hillary Clinton I’d hat this tweet it’s a meme all in itself

The latest in our series of stories that should surprise nobody who is paying attention.

Today’s entry in the #UNEXPECTEDLY chronicles comes from the Washington Post in a friendly price on the new governor of Maryland:

She was a painter displaying her abstract landscapes, a single mother of three daughters who’d grown up on a chicken farm in South Korea. He was a wealthy bachelor with more interest in politics than art who had stopped by the show in suburban Maryland on a whim.

His eyes didn’t gravitate to the paintings.

“I was more interested in the artist than the art,” he said.

He gave her his phone number, but she never called. Still, he didn’t give up. They eventually met again, fell in love and married several years later, in 2004.

I know what you’re saying:  Wait just one minute DaTechGuy, the #UNEXPECTEDLY chronicles is all about stories that shouldn’t surprise us that the press is missing, here is the Washington Post with a very friendly about a republican governor and making a fuss about their relationship.  That’s something that’s actually unexpected.

Well you’re right, it would be except for this one sentence that you could easily miss in that big 1500 word piece.

The love story of Larry and Yumi Hogan received scant attention during last year’s contentious race for Maryland’s governorship.

What?  Are you telling me that in the era of Obama, a love story involving an immigrant mixed race couple and a woman deeply involved in arts did not have any appeal for a media that loves all such things until the election was over and the Republican was already in office?

I can hardly credit it.

Exit question:  Why do I get the feeling that if Larry Hogan pulled the hair of this girl in high school it would have made every paper in the state in 2014?
