Just a reminder that pretending to be a hero who fights for the west in movies doesn’t make it so in reality.

Details: Is it true that when you stay at hotels you tear out the Bible page that condemns homosexuality?

Ian McKellen: I do, absolutely. I’m not proudly defacing the book, but it’s a choice between removing that page and throwing away the whole Bible. And I’m not really the first: I got delivered a package of 40 of those pages — Leviticus 18:22 — that had been torn out by a married couple I know. They put them on a bit of string so that I could hang it up in the bathroom.

That a member of the race that fought the book burning Nazis is doing this is frankly an insult to the memory of those who fought to destroy them but Sir Ian’s actions bring up three interesting thoughts.

The first is the obvious question to one familiar with scripture:  Why pull the pages from Leviticus but not from St. Paul’s 2nd letter to the Corinthians:

Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.

That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

I can’t see why one would leave St. Paul and the New Testament alone when it is much more read than Leviticus.  If the goal is to prevent people from reading that message the logical move would be to pull both or if one is removing only one, the latter.  I’m presuming it’s sheer ignorance on his part but given attempts to spin the New Testament lately by revisionist scholars perhaps doing so would be damaging to those efforts.  It would be a public statement that Christ stands against this sin and this would undermine too many pretending something else.

The Second thought comes from this ironic passage via Instapundit concerning syrian refugees:

Sir Ian McKellen comments on the influx of Syrian refugees into Western nations. McKellen says these people should ‘be looked after’ until they can return to their home country and that we should trust authorities to weed out any individual who poses a threat.

I find this a rather odd contradiction give Islam’s great love for Homosexuality as the very publicly gay Milo Yiannopoulos:

So you can accuse me of being “islamophobic” if you want, because no, I don’t want to be shouted at or spat on in the street. Maybe my gayness is standing in the way of a Muslim utopia… but I’m going to be selfish here and say maybe we don’t import all the people who want to murder me.

I’m serious. Gay people are getting stoned to death all the time in the Middle East, and not in the fun way: in the throw-big-rocks-at-your-head-until-you-die way. I don’t mean to be callous, but what are we gaining by letting these people in? Why can’t we help them with overseas aid? Why do they need to come here? Aren’t we just encouraging more of them to risk the trip by throwing our borders open?

and we’re not just talking ISIS either:

These are the attitudes we’re importing by allowing millions of Muslims to settle in western Europe. Sorry if that sounds intolerant, but remember women and gays aren’t just treated like shit by ISIS, but mainstream Muslim culture, too. I can’t remember how many Muslim countries have the death penalty for homosexuality. What is it, ten? Eleven?

If Sir Ian can’t handle the christian scriptures, thousands of people bearing the Koran or books of Hadiths which are still being used to kill gays all over the world under local law should be unbearable for him.

We don’t have any word on if Sir Ian feels compelled to tear pages out of the Koran or of Islamic Hadiths when he encounters them.  Larry King didn’t bother to ask, if he does perhaps he may choose to keep quiet about it.

I can’t imagine why.

Finally and most revealing is his self congratulatory statement of restraint saying it’s a choice between defacing the book or throwing it away altogether.

What’s so interesting is that there is an obvious 3rd choice:  Leave the book alone.

While we often hear the culture portray Christians of all stripes as “puritanical” and “intolerant” there seems to be a distinct lack of christians defacing or destroying what would be considered “gay friendly” material when encountering it during travel.

The fact that the wealthy and comfortable Sir Ian doesn’t seem to have the restraint that’s shown by the average Christian speaks volumes about the supposed tolerance and open-mindedness of the left but I suspect it speaks to something else.

As I’ve said many times no amount of belief on my part or disbelief on someone else’s part changes has any bearing on the actual truth of Christianity in general or Catholicism in particular (or any other religion for that matter).

As a Catholic the truth of the faith is a given and while I might object to the long term cultural damage the changes the left have brought to society I don’t let myself be made crazy by them because in the end none of it changes eternal truths.  My primary responsibility is my own soul.  While I might pray for and advise others concerning said truths in the hope helping them gain eternal life & sparing them the sufferings of eternal damnation the final responsibility for their souls is ultimately their concern and while it’s sad I don’t allow it to keep me from functioning.

Yet to McKellen who considers scripture a fantasy to be ignored and is clearly an educated man simply can’t handle a page in a book.

Mind you he doesn’t have to read that page, he doesn’t have to open the book in fact he doesn’t have to open the particular drawer that the book is in.  Simply knowing that a page in a book in a drawer in a room condemns his life choices is too much for him.

Now if he believes the Bible is just a fable and Christianity is just a made up religion such an obsession to destruction is beneath a man as erudite and educated as Sir Ian McKellen.  It’s an act that is completely irrational.

But if I’m right and the whole thing, Jesus, God, Angels, Devils etc are in fact reality than said obsession makes perfect sense.  It would mean that the page in that book is a reminder of a truth that can be denied only for a time, a truth that his guardian angel whispers in his ear, a truth that at age seventy is closing in.

Proverbs says:  The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the LORD, (Proverbs 9:10a).  I submit and suggest that Sir Ian’s apparent fear is completely rational and is a sign of hope for him, because there is always the chance that said fear will move him to different action.

I wish him luck.

When Elizabeth Scalia linked to this post that claimed Harvard was hosting a black mass it didn’t faze or shock me.  Given the disdain for Catholic Belief in academia why would anyone expect them to act otherwise?

But when I saw this update to the story:

Following up on this post, I have made a couple of phone calls to the The Cambridge Queen’s Head where Madelyn, an events manager, first promised to “research this”, saying that her computers were down. During a subsequent conversation, sounding very flustered, she and told me she had no comment to offer at the moment. Confirming that she is the Events manager, she promised a response later today.

She did confirm to another caller that the Harvard Cultural Exchange is having an event there, on May 12.

UPDATE: I just spoke to Priya Dua, PR director for The Satanic Temple and she has confirmed that yes, they have obtained and will use a Consecrated Host during this “re-enactment”. She is hopefully putting me in touch with someone who will answer my questions about how the Host was obtained, what they think they’re doing by using a Consecrated, as opposed to unconsecrated Host, and more.

my jaw dropped.

A consecrated host is the actual body of Christ.  For a ceremony desecrating it being hosted on Harvard would seem to cross several lines, lines that I suspect would never be crossed if such an event was being hosted that desecrated a holy object associated with a certain Religion of Peace™.

But not to worry, Harvard University being a bastion of tolerance and respect for the religious sensitivities would surely in their official capacity put out a strong official response to such an event and action by a club bearing the schools name to make it very clear that such an act of intolerance would not be sanctioned or tolerated by any group bearing the Harvard name...

Official Response to Cultural Studies Event

May 07, 2014

An independent student organization, the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club, plans to host a controversial student event involving a historical reenactment of a black mass ceremony that has a narrator providing historical context and background.

Students at Harvard Extension School, like students at colleges across the nation, organize and operate a number of independent student organizations, representing a wide range of student interests.

Harvard Extension School does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student organization. But we do support the rights of our students and faculty to speak and assemble freely.

In this case, we understand that this independent student organization, the Cultural Studies Club, is hosting a series of events—including a Shinto tea ceremony, a Shaker exhibition, and a Buddhist presentation on meditation—as part of a student-led effort to explore different cultures.

Media inquiries should be directed to Jeff Neal, jeff_neal@harvard.edu, in the Harvard University Public Affairs and Communications Office.

…or not.

I would note this is an OFFICIAL response from the official Harvard .edu site.

I gave them a call at 617-495-4024, they referred all inquires to Mr. Neal of Harvard Public Affairs at the e-mail above but would not give me a phone number so I did a google search and found this site and called the number listed for the vice president for public affairs and communications at 617.495.1585  I was told by a very polite lady that Mr. Neil was in a meeting and that if I was on deadline I should send an e-mail marked URGENT.

I’ll be sending the e-mail updating this story as I get responses but I can’t help but remember this Mark Steyn piece from 2012:

Pamela Geller was struck by that ad The New York Times ran the other day, “It’s Time To Quit The Catholic Church“, an “open letter to ‘liberal’ and ‘nominal’ Catholics”. So she sent in her own ad, “It’s Time To Quit Islam“, an “open letter to ‘moderate’ Muslims”. Analogous artwork, same pitch, only difference being the intended target. The Times’ Senior Vice-President for Corporate Hogwash called to tell Miss Geller that – surprise! surprise! – they were way less eager to rush this one into print:

Bob Christie, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications for the New York Times, just called me to advise me that they would be accepting my ad, but considering the situation on the ground in Afghanistan, now would not be a good time, as they did not want to enflame an already hot situation. They will be reconsidering it for publication in “a few months.”

So I said to Mr. Christie, “Isn’t this the very point of the ad? If you feared the Catholics were going to attack the New York Times building, would you have run that ad?”

Thus the courage of the secular left: If you’re going to be “provocative”, it’s best to do it with people who can’t be provoked. Pamela is right. If you want to be treated with respect by The New York Times and the rest of the multiculti establishment, make it clear you’re willing to kill them. That’s an interesting message to send.

As Glenn Reynolds has repeatedly put it: May they have joy of the incentive system they’re creating.

Update:  Just saw this from the Anchoress who has had further response from the Satanic Temple:

During our exchange, Greaves remarked that his group “had never brought up the idea of using a consecrated host” in their public material, and seemed puzzled to be asked about it. “It wouldn’t make a difference. We don’t believe in any supernatural power. Consecrated or unconsecrated, it’s just a cracker.” He and his group are, he said, “Satanist/Atheists” who have never before hosted a Black Mass before.

If this is the case then I would ask why they are being hosted by the Harvard Cultural Studies group.  After all if they are not “true Satanists” and are simply a group out to make a point where is the cultural significance?  She continued

I asked if obtaining a Consecrated Host through stealth — and using it for an “intellectual” exercise that would constitute grave abuse to believing Catholics — would pose an ethical dilemma for them which could affect their credibility. Greaves wondered whether anyone connected with the group “would waste time going to all that trouble. The odds are almost zero.”

Trouble, given that there are masses celebrated all over the area every single day and given that many people receive communion in the hand rather than on the tongue there would be little  “trouble” involved it getting a host.

He didn’t seem to have the same sentiments in his interview with Campus reform from the 6th:

Greaves confirmed the ritual will use a “host” although as the group doesn’t believe in the “supernatural elements,” he couldn’t call it a “consecrated host” as Catholics do.

“Consecrated or not, it means nothing to us,” he said.

Apparently it meant something in terms of PR because Elizabeth Scalia got a follow up call

Oddly enough after that conversation, surprise, surprise Elizabeth got a call back from the Satanic Temple

Not long after our conversation ended, Priya Dua called me again saying that there has been a “miscommunication” between members of the organization and that “there will not be a Consecrated Host used at the Black Mass.” She had no further information for me on how the miscommunication had occurred, and could not tell me what sort of unconsecrated bread would be used, or from where it would be obtained.

Strangely enough he seemed

How about that!

Ok so let’s get this straight then:

The Harvard Cultural Studies group is hosting an event on campus that includes a Satanic Black Mass from a group that claims not to actually believe in Satan never performed a Black Mass and when called on to explain the university’s position  equated a Black Mass to a Shinto tea ceremony and Buddhist meditation.

FYI if you google “diversity & “tolerance” at harvard this is the gum that comes up from the Harvard School of Public Health

we are committed to tolerance, sensitivity, understanding, and mutual respect everywhere within our community, and we hereby affirm our promise to provide a welcoming place for one and all.

Meanwhile we are further told that the Satanic Temple does not only doesn’t actually believe in Satan, really isn’t going to use a consecrated host after confirming that they were and it’s all just a misunderstanding that wasn’t meant to offend anybody even though the claim a it’s no big deal either way.

Maybe it’s just me but these people don’t seem trustworthy. In fact I seem to recall a expert on Satan noting some credibility issues concerning those who follow Satan in the past:

You belong to your father the devil and you willingly carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks in character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.

As Harvard has a divinity school I trust they can figure out the source of this quote.

It’s in moments like this that I really miss having Michael Graham around here.

Update 2: The posts just keep coming:

Deacon Greg: What the Hell is Harvard Thinking

A reader on Facebook was quick to point out that, technically, the Extension School isn’t quite the same as the university; it uses its name, but not much else.

But that name still counts for something. Doesn’t it?

Read a cursory summary of Harvard’s history on its website. It begins with a baptism, when John Harvard joined the church at St. Saviour’s Church in London in 1607. It continues with John Harvard willing his library and estate to the school in 1638. It mentions prominently the school’s first president, Rev. Henry Dunster, and the legendary preacher Increase Mather, Harvard’s first Doctor of Divinity. It notes that eight Harvard alumni signed the Declaration of Independence. And on and on, through presidents and prize winners, across the centuries.
The school’s roots are in religion, and in Truth; it’s one word motto, “Veritas,” says it all.

But now it finds itself inexplicably linked to a splinter Satanic cult which, using the name of Harvard, intends to enact a ritual that will desecrate the Body of Christ.

Rebecca Hamliton

It turns out that yes indeed, Harvard is playing host to the black mass folks, and at least one of them is claiming that they’re managed to procure a consecrated host to use in this little alternative culture extravaganza. Others of them aren’t so sure they have a host, and after thinking it over (and getting flak from The Anchoress) they’ve announced that, even though they have — or don’t have, depending on who’s doing the talking — a consecrated host, they won’t be using it (if they do have it) at their shindig.

Of course, Satan is the father of lies, and these are his disciples, so who knows if they have a consecrated host or not? Who knows if they’ll use it?

In an interview on Mobile Movement, the leader of this hardy band of the damned first says that they do, in fact, worship Satan. Then, he goes off on a riff about literary constructs, referencing Milton and Anatole France. Since, as I said earlier, Satan is the father of lies, I don’t think it matters all that much what this guy says. Believe it or don’t, as you it suits you. But, if you’re smart, don’t bet anything valuable on it.

Meanwhile Deacon Greg has heard back from these guys:

I am writing on behalf of The Satanic Temple to relay that there will NOT be a consecrated host at the Black Mass. This was a miscommunication on our part and want to let you know that we respect all religions and don’t want anyone to feel offended. We understand the powerful role that the Eucharist plays in the Christian religion and in no way want to appear as though we don’t respect your traditions. Elizabeth Scalia of Patheos is in the process of modifying her article to represent this. Please remove the current article you have posted and replace it with the one that will soon be available.

Please REMOVE? not update, Remove?

That e-mail confirms this is now officially a PR disaster for Harvard and apparently the Satanic Temple as well. It will become more so one once prominent Catholic alums, The Archdiocese of Boston and Nancy Pelosi’s office are asked about it.

Mark Shea absolutely nails it:

Demonstrating once again the back-handed compliment that the devil always pays to Jesus Christ, the blasphemy is directed, not toward Zeus, Quetzelcoatl or Mars, but toward the one true God. In turn, blasphemy always destroys, not God, who cannot be harmed, but the blasphemy, who makes himself utterly small when God desires to exalt him and give him joy.

So tragic. Pray for the poor souls who are opening themselves to very dark things with this act. Also, pray for Harvard, which would never think of allowing acts of blasphemy targeting Jews or Muslims, but which casually embraces the Last Acceptable Prejudice.

The Python skit he links is hilarious.

Update 3:  Just got off the phone with the embassy of the Vatican Embassy and was informed any action or response would come from Cardinal O’Malley’s office in Boston as Harvard is within the Archdiocese of Boston.  I’ve left a phone & e-mail message with them and will update you with any response that comes.

Update 4:  The Catholic league weighs in

The statement did not say what was “controversial” about these three events. Of greater interest to the Catholic League is the glaring omission: it never mentioned the Satanic Temple’s “Black Mass.” Yet if Shinto, Shaker and Buddhist presentations are so controversial that they demand an explanation, why wasn’t this deliberate assault on Catholic sensibilities mentioned? This was not an oversight.

On the plus side of all of this the number of prayers for all of those involved is likely to be significant.

Update 5:  OK it’s everywhere:

Nice Deb at

The Cultural Studies Club characterizes the event as a “reenactment” to be “performed” by The Satanic Temple, but reportedly, the group has obtained and will be using a Consecrated Eucharistic Host – making the event as real as it gets as far as the Catholic Church is concerned.

The Black Mass is “a magical ceremony and inversion or parody of the Catholic Mass that was indulged in ostensibly for the purpose of mocking God and worshipping the devil; a rite that was said to involve human sacrifice as well as obscenity and blasphemy of horrific proportions.”

According to their website, the Satanic Temple’s mission is “to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people.” How mocking the Catholic Church accomplishes that is anyone’s guess.

Good question.

CNS News:

A non-consecrated communion host will be used in the reenactment, according to Lucien Greaves, spokesman for The Satanic Temple.

Is it just me or is Greaves making it up as he goes along?

The Tea Party News Network

While Harvard claims the university does not sanction or condone the event, it is being officially taking place on the university’s campus.

Would they react the same way to a Koran burning on campus

Priya Dua, of The Satanic Temple’s Public Relations office confirmed to us in an e-mail that “Yes, there will be a consecrated host at the black mass.

An email? That’s confirmation in writing isn’t it?

Lisa Grass

If you are Catholic, please contact Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston and ask him to do something about this.

Me I’d suggest contacting Harvard grads in the senate and House.

Deacon Mike

Reminder: Satan is real and so is devil worship.

Domine, da mihi hanc aquam!

Harvard’s Puritan founders must be spinning in their graves.

In fairness they never cared much for the Catholic Church.

Tom McDonald: Real Satanists Don’t Send Press Releases

American neo-Satanism is all just a big act from people who want attention.

I do believe they intended to use a consecrated host, because in their first response they claimed they had one. I can’t imagine they care at all that desecration of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ is wicked, offensive, and hurtful to millions of people. They want us to be hurt. That’s why they’re doing it: to wound people they do not even know, because in their philosophy we are beneath contempt, and because they don’t believe they’re actually doing anything at all. They obviously don’t believe in the Real Presence, so it’s a all a big lark to them, regardless of the good people who will weep at the very thought of it. They want those people to weep, and in this way they are truly doing the Devil’s work.

See, they may not believe in Satan, but Satan believes in them, and he knows Useful Idiots when he sees them.

You might ask, “Hey DaTechGuy why haven’t you called Priya Dua or Lucien Greaves and ask them directly.

I say Why would I waste my time on people that have given different answers to different people both in writing and over the phone over the last 24 hours? If they don’t like it then I shall give them Spock’s answer from The Alternative Factor:

Incidentally Harvard’s official statement has been altered to include this statement from the Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club

We are hosting a reenactment of a historical event known as a Black Mass. The performance is designed to be educational and is preceded by a lecture that provides the history, context, and origin of the Black Mass. While a piece of bread is used in the reenactment, the performance unequivocally does not include a consecrated host. Our purpose is not to denigrate any religion or faith, which would be repugnant to our educational purposes, but instead to learn and experience the history of different cultural practices. This performance is part of a larger effort to explore religious facets that continue to influence contemporary culture.

Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club

It’s amazing how quickly people start running when the light starts to shine.

Update 6:  The Anchoress updates with two killer lines, one concerning the obfuscation from the Satanic temple

If I want finessing and word games, I’d cover politicians.

OUCH!  I don’t know who should be more insulted the Satanic Temples or politicians.  As for Harvard which is reaping the whirlwind

I think it would be a very good thing if Harvard — which is being sullied by association in this exercise hosted by the Harvard Extension — suggested that this particular “educational” performance find another, ahem, host.

That’s pretty good advice.  Will they be smart enough to take it?

Update 7:   I received this e-mail from the Archdiocese of Boston:

The Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Boston expresses its deep sadness and strong opposition to the plan to stage a “black mass” on the campus of Harvard University in Cambridge.
For the good of the Catholic faithful and all people, the Church provides clear teaching concerning Satanic worship.  This activity separates people from God and the human community, it is contrary to charity and goodness, and it places participants dangerously close to destructive works of evil.

In a recent statement, Pope Francis warned of the danger of being naïve about or underestimating the power of Satan, whose evil is too often tragically present in our midst.  We call upon all believers and people of good will to join us in prayer for those who are involved in this event, that they may come to appreciate the gravity of their actions, and in asking Harvard to disassociate itself from this activity.

They invoked Pope Francis, that’s bad news for Harvard.

Nicky Larkin went to Israel to film a documentary. He had a preconceived notion, fueled by all those around him of the conflict between the Jews and Arabs he left with his preconceived notions in tatters

His blog is here and it seems the feedback and attacks over his film have been almost as informative to him as the time he spent in the holy land:

The facebook page of the film btw is here

…for finishing first in the Top 25 Political Mom’s Pol at the Circle of Mom’s site here.

My congratulations also to friends of mine such as Pam at Atlas Shrugs, Katy at Katy’s conservative corner, Zilla of the Resistance who all finished in the top 20.

And I would urge my readers to go bookmark two friends of mine who didn’t make the top 25 (at least not this time) Lady Liberty1885 and the totally misnamed No One of any import. You won’t regret it.

Oh and my thanks to our friends on the left who as usual are living down to my ever lower expectations for them.

The uncivil progressives aren’t satisfied with simply leaving negative comments on this site. Now they’ve taken my email address and signed me up for all sorts of interesting reading. Most children aren’t this petty and immature.

Contrast this with my commentator from the Left Foible or my friendly “enemy” Chris from Center of Mass. If only the left had more guys like them who can disagree without being disagreeable.

As you read this I am in Maine with DaWife. I promised that my laptop would not be with me so here are some stories to keep you busy until I come back on Friday.

Item: The Constitution as a threat

At least that is the perception of some people on the left

Phil Cleary, handed out pocket Constitutions on campus in honor of Constitution Day. He had a table with literature promoting Youth for Western Civilization, a group dedicated to traditional values and western civilization, and engaged in students and faculty passing by.

Then, the leftists showed up to heckle.

The young man in the video, Blair Jordon Moses, threatened to “exercise” his 2nd amendment rights if he perceived that there was any kind of threat to the Multicultural Center. He did not define what a threat would constitute but suggested that the existence of the group Youth for Western Civilization would count.

Well he is a Black Panther sympathizer it’s not like the faculty is doing this too:

At the same time, a faculty member approached the group. She took some of the literature and asked Phil, “Is this a white supremacist group?” Phil answered “Absolutely not.” To which the woman replied, “It looks like one.”

Who is this woman? Susana Pelayo – Woodward, Director of the Office of Cultural Diversity.

Instead of promoting cultural diversity, which is part of her job, she chose to show her bias against a group that would promote western culture and tradition. She had no problem with the leftist students heckling the conservative, but actually seems to agree that freedom, the Constitution, and western civilization is all tied into white supremacy.

Because nothing says “White Supremacy” like passing out the US Constitution:

Item: And we respect the 1st Amendment, kinda:

Unless you live in North Carolina I’ll wager you didn’t see this story:

According to former Guilford County Republican Chairman, Marcus Kindley, the GOP Headquarters there have been vandalized. Kindley reports that the letters “KKK” were spray painted on the building in a number of places. Kindley told Katy’s Conservative Corner that the incident happened either late last Saturday or early this Sunday morning

Via Kathy’s conservative Corner who notes:

Greensboro is no stranger to Klan activity, but ironically, the Klan has been traditionally run by Democratic operatives. The city continues to be a hotbed of liberal activity and Kindley suspects the culprits may be students at either nearby Guilford College or UNC-Greensboro.

Kindley is afraid that his party will see more of these attacks. In a speech last week, President Barack H. Obama exhorted his followers “to put your marching boots on” and some within the Guilford County GOP feel that this a local result.

Do they have a multicultural center? I’d check there first.

Item: It’s not only US taxpayers on the hook for Solyndra:

Hey when you are blindly chasing the liberal dream you’ve got to expect liberal states will chase it hardest:

Out of the hundreds of out-of-work employees, vendors, investors and other creditors in the bankruptcy of government-backed solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC, one name stands out: the California Democratic Party.

Why California Democrats would be creditor to a company that received more than a half-billion dollars in federal loans to build a solar-panel plant isn’t clear. Even party officials say they’re not sure.

The California Democratic Party’s communications director, Tenoch Flores, said the organization was not owed “any funds in any form” by the California-based company. He said he was unclear why the party would be listed as a creditor in Solyndra’s bankruptcy filing.

Via Verum Serum who says:

Someone’s got some splainin’ to do.

Item: The Gunwalker bomb continues to tick:

While the MSM continues to ignore gunwalker the bombshells keep coming

An ATF source has provided reporters a copy of a letter sent on June 1, 2010 which indicates that the monumental scandal known as ‘Project Gunwalker,’ or ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ was never a sting operation as previously reported. If such an allegation is true, then the official Obama Administration explanation for the operation is entirely false.

The commonly-reported talking point concerning Gunwalker is that it was intended as a sting operation but that it went bad when rogue ATF agents took it in a sinister direction.

But the letter of June 2010, forwarded to reporters David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh, indicates that nothing about the operation contained any of the elements of a ‘sting.’ Everything ATF agents did in placing guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels was done in the open and with the approval of their supervisors

Sooner or later there will be a debate with Barack Obama and the republican Nominee and if the media doesn’t ask the question the nominee will, then BOOM!

Item: the Molly Norris lesson:

The hikers who were finally freed by Iran had thanks for some interesting people on the occasion of the ransom being paid on being bailed out of an Iranian jail:

…They also expressed gratitude to actor Sean Penn, boxer Muhammad Ali, philosopher Noam Chomsky, singer Yusuf Islam, U.S. anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and Nobel Laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mairead Maguire.

The American Spectator comments thus:

Bauer went on to say that it was ironic they had been taken captive because “Sarah, Josh and I oppose U.S. policies towards Iran which perpetuate this hostility.”

But therein lies the problem. Iran makes no distinction between Americans who attend Berklee and those who attend Bob Jones University. They make no distinction between Americans who write for The Nation and Americans who write for The American Spectator. They don’t care if you like or dislike President Obama. Nor do they care if you are critical of U.S. foreign policy towards Iran. For that matter, Iran makes no distinction between the Bush Administration who didn’t view them as legitimate and the Obama Administration which sought to curry favor with them. To the Iranian regime, as with al Qaeda, all Americans are infidels. Short of converting to Islam and submitting to their way of life nothing will change that attitude.

If Bauer doesn’t understand that by now then he probably never will.

Remember Molly Norris apologized too and is still hiding for her life. Apparently they are still idiots, but no longer useful.

I trust this will tide you all over for a bit, see you on Friday or late Thursday.

As Morning Joe lionized Rob Reiner and his one day play on Prop 8 a much more interesting story has been taking place that the MSM has no interest in.

Catholic mom blogger Stacy Trasancos put up a post a few weeks ago concerning taking her kids to the park.

The same people who say I shouldn’t impose my morality on them, are imposing immorality on me and my children to the point that I literally have a hard time even leaving my home anymore to do something as simple as visit the park. And this is freedom?

Now understand this. Stacy’s blog is a small blog, part of a circle of Catholic Mom Blogs etc. Looking at her twitter numbers they aren’t spectacular

The blog post was found by members of the Gay community and linked worldwide and it resulted in a gigantic traffic spike…and some of the most hate filled and disgusting comments that the peace and tolerance crowd can produce:

The LGBT community has now linked to this at reddit, and I just got the 824th comment and screenshot it. [“What a c*nt. I hope her children are kidnapped, raped, and murdered. It would be better than having them grow up with such a twisted f*ck for a mother!”] I also have the IP address of the commenter. Please stop threatening my family.

Apparently unlike Ann Barnthart she is not heavily armed so we don’t see directions to her house, but she also has Lisa Graas who has her back both at the American Catholic.

My friend Stacy Trasancos, a fellow Catholic mom who is concerned about the world her children have to grow up in, is under attack from the ‘gay rights’ community for daring to write what she thinks about public displays of affection. She’s received death threats, which she has reported to law enforcement, and is naturally questioning whether or not she should continue to simply speak publicly about her beliefs.

I believe it is important at this time for the Catholic blogosphere to come to her aid by offering support in the form of encouragement and in the form of condemning the tactics of the ‘gay rights’ movement against people of faith who simply would like to take their kids to the park without having to risk exposure to depravity, not to mention who would simply like to write what they think about things on a blog.

And at her own site she has blogged extensively on the subject.

This is a great victory for all orthodox Catholic moms in America when Perez Hilton, the most popular “gay” blogger in America, is found to be such a weakling who is so full of the fear (yes, fear) of Catholicism that he cannot pass on the chance to point to this average, every day Catholic mom in Massachusetts and call her a “homophobe”. This is not being done to her because she is “Stacy Trasancos” (he has no idea who Stacy is personally and uniquely) and not because she has done something herself that is wrong. It is being done to her because she thinks the very same way every other orthodox Catholic mom in America thinks on this issue, myself included. She is enduring this for all of us….and we are grateful to her for her strength in this time of trial.

There is an old saying that you don’t punch down, but I think her foes were not punching down, if you are hitting a person with faith in God then you are always punching up.

Consider: Perez Hilton is an internationally known pompous ass celebrity with a lot of people who follow him, yet he is afraid of the views of a Catholic Mom with a couple of hundred followers on facebook and a small column in a weekly diocesan paper.

It sure sounds like someone is insecure in their beliefs, has the actual fear of God, or both.

She has also been taking hits from the Atheist community and some Catholics who thought she should stay silent she responded with Jeremiah reading that I quoted a few weeks ago:

You duped me, O LORD, and I let myself be duped;
you were too strong for me, and you triumphed.
All the day I am an object of laughter;
everyone mocks me.

I say to myself, I will not mention him,
I will speak in his name no more.
But then it becomes like fire burning in my heart,
imprisoned in my bones;
I grow weary holding it in, I cannot endure it.

In fact all of the August 28th readings would fit perfectly.

She also has an answer to a person who decided to play logical substitution but left out a bit:

See, while Catholics will read this, I can promise you with 100% certainty that there will be no herds of Christians following each other over to find you and tell you that you are a hateful, bigoted, Catholic-o-phobe. Absolutely no one would even consider telling you anonymously that they hope your children are “kidnapped, raped and murdered.” There probably won’t even be any more emotional reaction than a shrug because we’ve heard it all before, and we realize we stand among a rich history of saints and martyrs far better than us who have suffered for the preservation of our Faith. We don’t demand that you approve of us.

This weekend she called into DaTechGuy on DaRadio (Saturday 10 a.m. EST WCRN in case you don’t know) and told a bit of her story. As of that weekend she has been given a permanent standing invitation to be on the show.

End result? Thanks to the efforts of all those who have hated her and threatened her and her children she now has the means at her disposal to give her opinion and thoughts to an audience in 6 states with 50,000 watts of power to back her up and I intend to continue keep that means available to her as long as I can.

I suspect a few of you are upset at that, maybe even some of those who threatened her but there are two things that keep me from being worried. The first being the job description:

If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you. Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me also hates my Father. If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father. John 15:18-24

And the second? I’ve found for some reason the type of people who have no problem threatening women and their small children tend to hesitate to make the same threats to adult Sicilian men. Odd isn’t it?

Final thought: Wouldn’t you think that threats against a mother of 7 and her children might be newsworthy? I would have thought so, but apparently such threats might portray a community that the MSM supports in a bad light, so no seat next to Rob Reiner for her.

Update: On Sept 24 Jose Trasancos came on the show and for the second time in a week was able to give his opinions with 50,000 watts of power, For Perez Hilton and that renowned defender of women and children Dianne Williamson it equals EPIC FAIL…

…also anyone who met her husband would think twice about threatening his family

…to be the commencement speaker at this college.

Oh and by Think Progress’ definition based on their headlines since Gay Marriage has only been legal in the world over the last 15 years or so the entire world would have been “Anti-Gay”. That would include, JFK , FDR Lincoln, Gandhi, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and most of the MSM who didn’t have an epiphany about Gay marriage until the post Clinton years.

I wonder if they would have protested a Muslim speaker in that case?

It’s the same subtle bigotry that you would regularly see concerning southerners around here, but now for our new elites it is standard toward any religious believer who actually follows the tenants of their faith that conflicts with their social norms, but particularly Christianity.

Our friends on the left often complain about pro-life protesters and never fail to point out any untoward word. Here is a bit of news they might not have caught. Today at 8 a.m. when the people who volunteer at Problem Pregnancy came in they found this threat on their fence.

The peaceful left

And this window broken

Yup breaking windows is pro-woman

With this Rock

The Rock in question

The symbols painted on the fence were the anarchist and the feminist symbols. I talked to Corrine of problem pregnancy about it:

The Huffington Post’s decision to ban Andrew Breitbart from its front page for…

Andrew Brietbart’s ad hominem attack on Van Jones in The Daily Caller — right down to calling him a “commie punk” and “a cop killer-supporting, racist, demagogic freak” — violates the tenets of debate and civil discourse we have strived for since the day we launched.

I trust you were not drinking when you read that, otherwise your computer would have shorted out from the water.

Lee Stranahan decided that this is the final straw and has quit the Huffington Post:

…as a writer, this latest move by The Huffington Post of banning Andrew Breitbart from their front page (because of comments he made to a different website) is both unprecedented, arbitrary and deeply offensive to the intellectual openness that Arianna Huffington has purported to believe in.

He also comments on the strategy

One very loathsome aspect of this story is something that Huffington Post editor Roy Sekoff told me in a long phone call about Andrew Breitbart several months ago. Roy knows and worked with Andrew and when the issue of Andrew Breitbart being a racist came up, Roy told me “No, of course Andrew isn’t a racist.”

Roy went on to say that while both he and Arianna Huffington knew that the charges of racism being hurled at Andrew weren’t true based on their years of personal dealings with him that they were in a ‘bad position’ to say anything about it.

…however it is a question of their base, evidence about Jones not withstanding they will not risk upsetting the liberals who follow them. As Stranahan has already found dissent from the liberal base carries costs.

Dave Weigel notes the absurdity of the statement:

He didn’t write or say any of that at HuffPo, a site he helped develop in 2005. Is the Huffington Post’s standard that contributors can be to some modified limited hang-out if they use ad hominems in other forums? Boy, good thing Breitbart doesn’t have an army of contributors who can comb HuffPo authors’ published and spoken work to see if they’ve done that.

He is exactly right. The number of examples of this kind of stuff that will be dug up this week will be interesting.

In fact Lee Stranahan has already started and the Daily Caller goes long on ad hominem actually at the huffpo:

It will not matter in the closed world of the left its conformity that matters.

…and as a person who doesn’t go to fark, never checks it out and doesn’t really read it it’s no big deal expect for it has produced a little less than the third of the hits that the instalance did for that post.

I took the liberty of checking the fark thread when I came home. The comments on the Fark thread are fascinating: The reactions thereof concerning me are very amusing and show a level of rational discourse that is seldom seen without a 15 second delay and a cable TV show.

It’s been suggested I should go over there and defend myself, but I don’t see why. These guys make my point about the left better than I could and adds to the point I was making on the Wonkette post.

It is exactly the reason why Andrew Breitbart retweets the most nonsensical and vulgar stuff that is said about him. It allows the “best of the left” to self identify so I’m all for getting out of the way and letting them do so.

But hey if you came to the blog from Fark, nice to have you, take a look around and feel free to come back if you want.

Update: I didn’t realize this is all part of the new tone!
