I must say nothing amazes me more than this meme that we keep hearing after very single attack by an Islamist:

The CNN report itself — the written report, not the clip above — is another marvel, making the story about everything else but the terrorist attack. Paragraph after paragraph of quotes appear in the article about religion of peace, worries about backlash, members of the Somali community worried that their families may have been victimized, before it actually gets to the attacks. It barely mentions that Adan demanded to know the religion of his victims, noting only that he “made a reference to Allah” and “asked at least one person if they were Muslim.” That sounds rather … polite, no? Well, except for the whole attempted-mass-murder thing.

The big story here isn’t the “potential for backlash.” It’s the terrorist attack that nearly took nine or more lives in the sleepy community of St. Cloud. Maybe other outlets will focus on the real story.

The “concern about a backlash” meme is so often repeated that it’s rarely questioned by the left, but two words illustrate how idiotic it is:

Emmett Till

For those of you who don’t know your history Emmett Till was a 14 year old chicago boy who was lynched during a visit to Mississippi in 1955 for the horrible crime of supposedly flirting with a white woman which apparently upset the sensibilities of certain folks.

It’s worth noting that Emmett Till’s murder was not unique in the era of Jim Crow:

From 1882-1968, 4,743 lynchings occurred in the United States.  Of these people that were lynched 3,446 were black.  The blacks lynched accounted for 72.7% of the people lynched.

That works out to about 1 black man lynched every ten days during that period of time.

What does this have to do with Islamic Terror?  Think about it for a second.

Ask yourself how you would react to local police after a lynching during the days of Jim Crow stating:  “They were unclear on the motivations for the attack” and local and national newspapers gave credence to such a statement?

Ask yourself how you would react if after a lynching local and national media in unison said the primary thing to worry about would be a backlash against whites over lynchings of blacks?

Ask yourself how you would react if local and national media insisted that the Jim Crow culture had no bearing on the decision of groups of “lone wolfs” who lynched blacks or that any connection with the culture of Jim Crow to lynching was illegitimate?

Because when you claim that we are unsure of the motivations on Islamic Terror, when you go on about a potential backlash against Islam over terror attacks and you insist that the culture of Islam has nothing to do with the motivations of terrorists & that moderate Islam has no obligation to help the FBI weed out potential terrorists, you sound just like an apologist for Jim Crow circa 1930.

Closing thought as I’ve already said during Jim Crow you had one black man lynched every 10 days. As of this writing it has been 5488 days since Sept 11 2001 and in that time there have been 29,258 attacks by Islamic terrorists worldwide, an average of one attack every 4 1/2 HOURS a rate over 53 times the rate of lynching in the US during Jim Crow.

It was a bad sunday for the MSM.

After Hillary Clinton’s health scare just after the Sunday shows last week there was a distinct change in the polling as Jazz Shaw reports:

The hated conclusion that Trump may actually be winning is showing up in a variety of unusual places, such as the LA Times daily tracking poll. This one has bounced around quite a bit, but Trump hasn’t had a solid lead in it since the GOP convention. Now he’s up by seven, well beyond the margin of error.

Trump has been leading there since 9/11. Is this a coincidence or does it have something to do with public perceptions of Clinton’s health after that ill fated “stumble” (read: collapse) outside the memorial service? She’s taken a nose dive since then and the latest report from Morning Consult finds that voters have been paying attention. They increasingly believe that Clinton is sick and are worried about it.

This could not be allowed to stand and the MSM was desperate to change the subject. They decided the plan was to bring back the birther issue that nobody was talking about or even thinking about because even if you think that Barack Obama was born in Kenya (or as I think he was born in Hawaii but pulled a Elizabeth Warren for personal advantage.) he has only 4 months left in office so who cares?

But the MSM, trying to energize the black vote that doesn’t like or trust Hillary Clinton and desperate to persuade millennials that Donald Trump is so beyond the pale that they MUST turn out to stop him, decided the birther business was the way to go and suddenly it became the subject of the week.

Yeah Donald Trump managed to rick roll them a few days ago but the Sunday shows belong to the left and they were ready to go all out on Trump the Birther, Trump the Bigot and Trump the inciter of violence or as Reliable Sources played it Trump the con man. The press was chomping at the bit and Dem VP Candidate Tim Kaine was ready to hit every show to emphasize that meme.

And then this happened in NYC:

Police are hunting for answers on what caused an explosion that injured 29 people in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, shortly before a second suspicious device was found nearby.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters early indications are that the explosion at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan at about 8.30 p.m. Saturday “was an intentional act.”

And this happened in NJ:

In addition to the bomb that exploded about 9:30 a.m., some authorities reported finding as many as three other intact devices along the runners’ route on Ocean Avenue. The blast occurred in a trash can at the corner of D Street. Authorities later said the reports of additional devices were not verified.

Homeland Security, FBI, and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives agents joined New Jersey State Police, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, and Seaside Park Police, blocking access to Seaside Park while an intense search was conducted.

And this happened in Minnesota:

Mass Stabbing at Mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota: Suspect Asked Victims if They Were Muslim

And of course ISIS celebrated:

Supporters of the Islamic State rushed to celebrate Saturday night’s powerful explosion in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood that injured at least 29 people, even as no group or individual has been arrested or claimed responsibility.

“The lions of the Caliphate roar in New York, we cause you pain inside your house, the carrier of the Cross,” wrote one Twitter user who went by the name “I am ISIS, come and block me.” The account was soon suspended. Another, called “The Lone Wolves,” tweeted with the Arabic hashtag #ExplosionManhattanNewYork “Oh God burn America, take revenge in the name of your oppressed slaves and believers’ blood.”

Undaunted and unbowed every single sunday show talked the birther stuff (most conveniently ignoring the Blumenthal angle) and kept pushing a “Trump off the rails again” meme while giving a few minutes during their opening about the NY & NJ bombings and Meet the Press did mention the stabbings in Minn.  Doing their best to stress that they don’t know if it’s terror.

The people’s Cube answered them well:

I’m sure the MSM was very pleased with themselves with their digs on Trump, in fact Brian Stelter did a whole self-righteous segment on “Why doesn’t the public trust us” that was all about hitting Trump. Alas for him Jake Tapper who started the day challenging Tim Kaine on Blumenthal and birtherism, followed him on cnn talking terror including the attacks in Minnesota, #ChelseaNYC continues to trend on twitter, a live press conference on the NY Bombing was carried by the networks reducing the Birther stuff to irrelevancy.

As Jazz Shaw put the meme changing nature of these attacks in perspective

None of these stories taken by themselves are going to generate the sort of headlines that a major terror attack produces, primarily because we got lucky and nobody died. But if we examine the pattern and put it in the context of the times we live in, it’s not exactly a stretch to imagine that there’s a connecting thread. That’s not to say that everyone involved in each incident was coordinating their efforts. In fact, that seems highly unlikely. But if the word was put out on the terror gossip lines that this would be a good weekend to kill some Americans, it doesn’t take all that much for someone to grab a knife or load up some steel pipes with gunpowder and head on out.

But what was the message the media wanted to take from all of this? When Donald Trump was kicking off a planned rally he used the phrase “a bomb went off” at the beginning of his remarks and reporters went ballistic over how he was rushing to judgement. For the record, I was also holding out for the possibility that it might have been a gas line or steam pipe explosion in New York last night, but was it really such a crazy idea to suspect it was a bomb? Particularly when it turned out to be a bomb?

And we didn’t even talk about the ambush of police in Philly.

Bottom line, The MSM and the Hillary Campaign had a bad Sunday because reality once again undermined the message they wanted to advance.

Sept 11 is here again and once again America is going to spent it with solemn remembrance of our dead of that day, listing names, ringing bells and generally being sober.

In other words once again we are doing it wrong.

If the war on terror was over. If the states that sponsored terror were defeated, humiliated, their armies destroyed, their leaders overthrown. If the groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda were just memories, their fighters reduce to dust and ash, their madrassas rubble and their imams laid to rest in pigskin coffins, THEN all of these ceremonials would be appropriate. Then it would be time to mourn our dead with the knowledge that the war was won and that when we say “never forget” we meant it.

But until that is done, the only thing all of our solemn tears do is enable our enemies thus encouraging them to launch the next Benghazi attack, to tell their youth that America is weak, to encourage every single lone wolf that you can be remembered as a hero and bring a nation to its knees.

All we are doing today is giving our foes an easy propaganda victory.

This is a huge mistake, and it’s a bipartisan mistake, George W bush made it, Barack Obama made it and I suspect whoever wins in November will make it too.

In 1836 Texans remembered the Alamo by defeating those who attacked it.

In 1941 Americans remembered Pearl Harbor by declaring war and eventually bringing Japan to it’s knees.

We should remember 9/11 the same way, by destroying these enemies and making them an object lesson to any who would consider following in their footsteps.

Once that’s done, then we can memorialize the dead all you want and I’ll be right behind you,

Update:
Glenn Reynolds was right, unfortunately his predictions have held up really well and closes with this line:

God bless America. We need it.

Alas I think these days the most significant line of scripture for America is this one:

Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.

Matthew 10:32-33

Every single day I pray the 4th sorrowful mystery of the Rosary and ask Mother Angelia & Justice Scalia to pray it with me for our country.  I suggest you do the same.

Update two here is a prediction of Glenn’s that wasn’t correct:

And the TV footage of jubilant Palestinians just proves what I’ve always suspected — they just don’t get it. They’ll learn. Oh, how they’ll learn

What they’ve learned is there is no penalty for celebrating the death of Americans and they’ve learned that lesson well.

Update Three:  Jazz Shaw and uncomfortable truths

As much as I refused to admit it for years after the attacks, there is no separating out the bad apples from the rest of the basket… at least not entirely. We’re fighting an evil ideology which has deep roots in Islam. This is not to say that every Muslim in the world – and certainly not every one in America – supports terror. But it’s equally foolish to deny that this is the fountain from which the poison water flows. I don’t particularly like the look of the guy in the mirror who makes a statement like that, but it would be dishonest to deny it.

Or as I put it to answer Catholic turned Muslim Rep Keith Ellison who today talks about beating “Islamophobia”

Every day that doesn’t happen brings us a day closer to the necessity of us convincing them in a more forceful way because it’s going to come down to either our submission or their defeat.

WWII: Germans surrender to Russians outside Moscow

by baldilocks

Daniel Greenfield again documents the terms of Europe’s willing surrender to the Dar al-Islam.

The UN Commission of Experts identified 1,600 actual cases of rape in the Bosnian War that took place in the former Yugoslavia over a period of years. In Germany, 2,000 Muslim migrants sexually assaulted 1,200 women in a single night in cities across Germany.

The former was considered one of the worst war crimes of the decade. Its perpetrators were bombed and then faced war crimes trials. The perpetrators of the latter received a slap on the wrist.

In Cologne, Hassan and Hussein were handed suspended sentences. Hassan, who had demanded that a man hand over two women to him by bellowing, “Give me the girls, give me the girls – or you’re dead” was tried as a juvenile offender and was sentenced to community service and an integration course.

(…)

Selin Goren, a spokeswoman for a left-wing refugee group, admitted to lying that the men who sexually assaulted her were German instead of Arabs because the act of the rape had a “political dimension”. Instead of thinking of the men who had assaulted her, she thought of a pro-refugee rally in which she had called for fighting “against racism and sexism”.

And predictably the former took a back seat to the latter.

When the police officer asked her if refugees had been responsible, she retorted that they had spoken German while resenting the officer for being so racist as to assume, correctly, that Muslim migrants were to blame.

A friend had told her that she acted like a battered wife protecting her abusive husband.

It’s an accurate description of not just her, but of the entire left which has turned its own values inside out in order to protect Muslim rapists from a theocratic culture not fundamentally different than ISIS which believes that women are fair game during their gleeful invasion of Europe.

My opinion: European in general and Germany specifically isn’t done paying the spiritual price for the perpetrating/allowing the massacres of the 20th century. And I’m not only referring to the Jews–Russians, Poles—both Jew and Gentile—Romani…and the list goes on. Europe’s spiritual problems are and have always been about leadership.

The spiritual price(s) for bad leadership: delusion and the desire for death, brought on by godlessness. Of course, godless leaders were the catalysts for the massacres in the first place.

Observing from across the water bids these questions. How many Americans are similarly deluded? And what of our leaders?

I’d like to say I was shocked at this story at real clear politics:

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

Or to rephrase it: We are going to censor any information that is not consistent with the approved narrative of the Democrat party in particular and the White House in particular.

When I read this the first thing that came to mind was something I saw at the National Press Club last week.

On a big screen when you come in there is a statement concerning Donald Trump’s decision to remove the credentials from the Washington Post meaning that while they can cover his events they don’t have the access that other members of the press do.

It was presented with the self righteousness of a group that does not hint that they can still cover the events and report on them, only on Trump assault on free speech, or that there is a reason why the press is often described as “Democrats with bylines”.

Now while one can debate this move by the Trump campaign maybe it’s just me but I’d say the suppression of the record on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the United States homeland is something that the national press club might find objectionable.

So my question is this: Will the National Press Club put up a display objecting just as strongly to the censoring of the public record by this Administration on the 2nd most successful Islamic Terror attack on the US for all Americans as they will Donald Trump?

I suspect to ask the question is to answer it.

Tom Hagen: Right now we have the unions and we have the gambling and those are the best things to have. But narcotics is a thing of the future. If we don’t get a piece of that action we risk everything we have. Not now, but ten years from now.

Gay Conservative Activist Milo Yiannopoulos continues to make the case that Orlando illustrates the choice the left has to make:

“I’m not talking about Islamists. I’m not talking about terrorists. I’m not talking about radical Islam. I’m talking about mainstream Muslim culture. There are eleven Muslim countries in which I could be killed for being a homosexual. The state penalty is death. One hundred million people live in country where the penalty for homosexuality is death. This is not radical Islam. This is mainstream Muslim society. Look what’s happening in Sweden. Look what’s happening anywhere in Germany, anywhere there are large influxes of a Muslim population. Things don’t end well for women and gays. The left has got to make a decision. Either they want female emancipation and it wants gay rights or it wants Islam. It’s got to pick.”

What Milo doesn’t get is the left HAS picked and while he and I might find this pick monstrous, when you have a party of marxists who believe in utilitarianism it is completely logical.

Regardless of what you see on TV news and talk shows the reality is over the next 20 years the percentage of LGBT voters in the US Population will likely remain static.

During that same time period the number of Muslim Americans, both by immigration and birth is going to increase dramatically.

Right now the left has the Gays and the Transgenders and the Hollywood elites & media in which they are overrepresented and they figure that’s the best things to have, but in America Islam is a thing of the future.  In 20 years the children of Muslims now being raised on the tenets of Sharia law in America will be old enough to vote and Democrats going to make sure they get those votes when the time come, not now but 10-20 years from now.

And if that means more LGBT Americans have to live in fear during those two decades, well it’s small price to pay for power.

It’s not personal , it’s simply a ghastly math driven business.

Closing arithmetic: Anyone want to make book concerning what percentage US Muslim population will be when Democrats decide to throw the LGBT community under the bus to appease them?

The Godfather 1972

Yesterday at the end of his show Jake Tapper put out a tweet under his show’s account that depressed me a tad.

Now the reason for this depression has nothing to do with Mr. Trump’s words or implications concerning President Obama motives per se.

No the reason is that seven years ago when I started this blog in 2008 that tweet is something I might have sent if a person made such an implication concerning an American President.

But after seven years of watching Barack Obama in action the implication or even suggestion that President Barack Obama, the man whose political career began in the home of a Terrorist, might have a soft spot for radical Islam is so unremarkable that Mr Tapper’s tweet seems almost quaint.

I miss both my previous days of innocence and having a president who is unquestionably on the side of America.

The Godfather Part 2  1974

Saturday night I got myself playing Civ five and ended up staying up all night so I was hearing about the Pulse shooting almost from the start and was able to follow the reactions on social media between turns and watched the news, only pausing long enough to do my podcast before finally hitting the sack just after 2:30 pm (finally got 4+ hours around 2 pm).

Before I went to bed I noticed both the coverage on the networks and the meme on twitter and it was all about protecting Islam and pushing guns as the cause for the mass murder in Orlando, the only exception was the several hours that Jake Tapper was on CNN where he played it straight.

When I woke up CNN was in full, “hatecrime not Islam mode” and on twitter the attacks on conservatives and defenses of islam was unrelenting.

Again this was less than 24 hours after 50+ were slaughtered and blood was still on the floor in Orlando.
And of course conservatives, supporters of the 2nd Amendment and Christians on twitter were under attack by the left for daring to warn them about the people who are trying to kill them.

This leads to two questions, both which are extremely disturbing:

How would the reaction currently being directed toward Conservatives & Christians by the left online be any different if a conservative 2nd Amendment Christian had actually done the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando rather than an Islamist?

The answer: In my opinion it wouldn’t be

Given the first question why should, when Islamic Terrorists target and murder those on the left, any Conservative Christian show any sympathy or expend any effort to protect these folks who hate us so from such attacks?

The answer to the 2nd question is rather easy, it’s a non-optional doctrine of Christianity directly ordered by Christ here:

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same?

And if you greet your brothers only, what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same?

Matthew 5:43-47

And that, along with the American in me outraged over an Islamic attack targeting my countrymen, will continue to trump the Sicilian in me, no matter how much the left attempts to convince me otherwise.

In the wake of a week of Terrorist attacks in Europe and Asia the administration has decided it’s time to get Americans the hell out of Turkey:

The State Department and Pentagon ordered the families of U.S. diplomats and military personnel Tuesday to leave posts in southern Turkey due to security fears.

The two agencies said dependents of American staffers at the U.S. consulate in Adana, the Incirlik air base and two other locations must leave. The so-called “ordered departure” notice means the relocation costs will be covered by the government.

CNN (via this Jake Tapper Tweet)

has more

“The decision to move our families and civilians was made in consultation with the Government of Turkey, our State Department, and our Secretary of Defense,” Gen. Philip M. Breedlove, commander of U.S. European Command, said in the statement.
A U.S. defense official told CNN that the base had been placed under Force Protection Condition Delta for weeks, the highest level of force protection for U.S. military bases. Delta level means that either a terrorist attack has just taken place in the immediate vicinity or “intelligence has been received that terrorist action against a specific location or person is imminent,” according to military guidelines.

Note the key word here “ordered”. Not suggested, not advised ORDERED. It’s reached a point where it is so dangerous in Turkey, a NATO ally, that the families of US personal and their dependents MUST flee for their own safety.

Now in a normal time this would be a huge story. It would be leading the news on every network and people and the MSM, much to their disgust, would be forced to bring in “experts” to explain that his forced evacuation of Americans have nothing to do with the failed anti-terrorism policies of the Obama administration’s foreign policy has led to this.

But fortunately for the MSM Corey Lewandowski committed the 2nd unenforced error for the Trump campaign (the 1st being the “Klan” interview with Jake Tapper) when he encountered Michelle Fields and didn’t take Glenn Reynolds advice about an apology & a drink to end the matter:

Donald Trump’s campaign manager was charged Tuesday in Florida with simple battery for allegedly roughing up a reporter.

Jupiter police said Corey Lewandowski, 41, was charged with the misdemeanor for grabbing and bruising the arm of Michelle Fields, 28, an ex-reporter for the conservative Breitbart News outlet, at a campaign event at Trump National Golf Course on March 8.

A “misdemeanor for grabbing and bruising the arm”. Now even in an election year by any rational standard this would never “trump” the forced evacuation of US personal from the territory of a NATO ally due to the threat of terrorism.

But then again I’m not the media looking for an excuse to change the subject from the utter and absolute failure of the Obama foreign policy (which was led by a woman named Clinton for the first 4 years) and change it to the Trump campaign which not only carries a lot of eyeballs but does so with a story that plays right into the “Trump vs Women” meme that they love.

Now this is an election year and manhandling a female reporter, even if one argues that it was accidental is newsworthy, particularly if it’s done by the campaign manager of the front runner for the GOP nomination.

But if you think for one minute that this is a more important story than US personal being pulled from Turkey, you’re smoking something.

I’m back trying to get that elusive $61 a day for DaTipJar but lately I haven’t reported on my progress. Part of it has been I’ve been busy but the other part being the reports for March would be rather depressing.

1st Romana: All he’s doing is using you.
Madame Lamia: I know. But that is better than nothing.

Doctor Who  The Androids of Tara 1978

We keep hearing about the fear of a backlash against Muslims over the Brussels attacks against Muslims and we’ve finally got an actual murder of a Muslim in the west to talk about.

Scottish police say the killing of a Muslim shopkeeper who wished Christians a happy Easter is being investigated as “religiously prejudiced.”

Vigils were held Friday and Saturday in memory of 40-year-old Asad Shah, who was killed Thursday night in Glasgow.

The AP jumped on this story and I’m sure many on the left were poised to jump all over the murder as an example of the western backlash, alas for them it was not to be:

Murder of a man of peace: Muslim shopkeeper who wished his ‘beloved Christian nation’ a Happy Easter is stabbed 30 times by a FELLOW MUSLIM who sat laughing on his dying victim’s chest

You see the victim was a member of the Ahmadiyya set, which I’ve written about many times. It is the image of peaceful Islam whose founder argued that as Muslims can safely practice their faith anywhere the only jihad to wage is “jihad of the tongue” to persuade others of the truth of Islam.

And the murdered man lived just like that

Deeply religious, Mr Shah worked to foster cross-community relations in Glasgow and had been planning to host an online debate last night with Christian friends about the importance of Easter. Friends said he observed both Christian and Muslim holidays, and never failed to send out Easter and Christmas cards. And he used his social media accounts to promote harmony on religious holidays.

But alas Islam considers the Ahmadiyya heretics, they are not permitted in Mecca as they are considered unbelievers and have been the targets of terror outside of the west for years.

But here in the west they are constantly held up as the example of “peaceful” Islam by the media and by other Muslims while never discussing that this sect that makes up 1% of Islam is completely rejected by the rest.

Newsbustes notes that the AP and the left in general are a lot less interested in the story now that it’s a story of violence by Muslims as opposed to violence against Muslims:

If the original news of Asad Shah’s death merited coverage, significant subsequent developments also deserve AP’s attention.

Will they get any? Don’t count on it. The evidence in this case thus far clearly supports the idea that genuinely moderate Muslims may in reality be very few in number, and that any public expressions of such moderation can be quite dangerous. We can’t have people learning such disruptive and disturbing truths.

But while the left and the media and the AP and the people of Europe in general are all in denial concerning the dangers of radical Islam but their level of denial is dwarfed by the denial of the Ahmadiyya.

For years they played along with the rest of Islam in the west in the vain hope that as the peaceful face of Islam they would eventually be accepted by the rest of the faith.

This is a pipe dream, a delusion. This murder is Scotland demonstrates this as do these facts:

The UK Daily Record, in a story which appeared after AP’s report, quotes a source who says that “The hardline Sunni Muslims call Ahmadiyya Muslims kafir. They say they are non-believers.”

87 percent to 90 percent of all Muslims, or about 1.5 billion people, are Sunnis. Additionally, “the majority of modern Muslim scholars continue to hold the traditional view that the death penalty for apostasy is required.”

The Daily Record also reported that authorities believe that the killer “travelled from Bradford (i.e., over 200 miles — Ed.) to launch a premeditated attack.” The killer was clearly on a mission to kill someone he believed was either a “non-believer” or “apostate.”

As the Muslim community grows stronger in the west the need to use the Ahmadiyya as a mask to disguise Islam as it is will continue to decrease and unlike the fools of the left these folks are familiar with Islamic culture they know what the Islamic culture actually thinks of them.  They know they are being played as Useful idiots yet continue to do so.

The question is this:  How many more Asad Shahs will have to die before the Ahmadiyya decide admitting the truth and acting on it is better than being used?

I’m back trying to get that elusive $61 a day for DaTipJar but lately I haven’t reported on my progress. Part of it has been I’ve been busy but the other part being the reports for March would be rather depressing.

If we made our $61 a day my annual Tip jar would come into today at $5185, it currently stands at $2857. That’s a deficit of $2328 an increase of nearly $1000 this month.

Or to put it bluntly As of March 26, we’ve made our goal up to Feb 15th a full 29 days behind our goal.

And it’s not due to a lack of traffic, our number in March remain consistent with the blog’s recovery from our previous doldrums as of today we are over 10,000 visits ahead of last March and on a pace to nearly meet March 2014 the final month before our unexpected traffic crash began.

As I’ve said I’d like to think we do good work here If you’d like to help us keep up the pace please consider hitting DaTipJar

The US Election not withstanding the biggest news in the world this weekend was the capture of Saleh Abdeslam. the mastermind of the Paris attacks and the single most wanted man in Europe

Yesterday Fox News Sunday opened with the this story and gave it time as a piece of news of international import.

This wasn’t the case elsewhere, On This Week with George Stephanopoulos the arrest of the Paris attacker didn’t make the cut. Face the nation with John Dickerson had no time for the story and Meet the Press found the subject not newsworthy enough for a segment instead discussing the apparently more important question: If Male pundits critique Hillary’s tone, is it sexism?

One might ask the question why would a cable network lead with this international story on their Sunday show while every single major broadcast networks, networks with an international reach decide to completely ignore it during their Sunday shows?

I suspect this fact has something to do with it:

One of the great “Media truths” that has been advanced for years by the left and some members of the right is that the number of Muslims who support Jihadist terror is just a tiny minority and that most follows of Islam reject terror, reject terror attacks and have no sympathy for those who would commit mass slaughter in Islam’s name.

Unfortunately that argument tends to fall apart when you consider the fact that the most wanted man in Europe, the man responsible for the most dramatic terror attack there has been in years was sheltered in an Islamic enclave within Europe particularly considering this report

Worse yet, Belgian newspaper De Morgen reported (subscription only) that “the whole neighborhood” knew where Abdeslam was ever since the Paris attacks. Nobody tipped off authorities.

Of course you can argue that, well maybe this guy was able to hide himself for a while but maybe these guys didn’t want trouble and were afraid. It doesn’t mean Muslims supported him, I mean it’s not like Muslims fought police over his arrest…

…oh wait:

The story is here

The most wanted terrorist in Europe, considered the mastermind in November’s multi-targeted attack in Paris that left 130 people dead, was arrested Friday by Belgian authorities.

But residents in the Molenbeek district of Brussels, where Saleh Abdeslam was captured, didn’t breathe a sigh of relief. Within hours, the district, which has a majority Muslim population, erupted into riots. Dozens of Abdeslam’s fans attacked police with bottles, stones, and other objects, local press reported, angered by the arrest of their “hero.”

The situation is developing.

If you’re trying to advance the idea that Muslims are not supporting terror and to suggest otherwise is racism Muslims sheltering the man wanted for the Paris attacks is bad.

If you’re trying to convince people that questioning Islam’s loyalty to the west and support of law enforcement is racism, having the entire Islamic community knowing where the man who organized the Paris attacks is and keeping silent is worse.

And if you are tying to tell the American people that any candidate who suggests screening people by religion before allowing them to immigrate to the US is unamerican and beyond the pale Muslims rioting and attacking police for daring to arrest the man responsible for the slaughter in Paris is completely untenable.

This is why Meet the Press and the rest decided this story was not newsworthy this Sunday, because it raises question the obvious questions that they don’t want asked.

Pam Geller however is willing to ask it

Europe is betting its future on the proposition that the overwhelming majority of the huge numbers of Muslims it is importing are “moderates” and will become loyal citizens. If that were true, however, why do things like this happen? Why weren’t the Muslims in Molenbeek out cheering the police as they apprehended the Paris jihad murderer Salah Abdeslam? And why hadn’t they already turned him in?

This IS the question that needs to be asked and answered. However it’s a question John Dickerson of Face the Nation, George Stephanopoulos of This Week and Chuck Todd of Meet the Press dare not even broach as the question itself shatters the facade they insist on maintaining.

Oh and a FYI CNN’s state of the Union didn’t mention the arrest of Saleh Abdeslam the Paris mastermind either. I’m sure that the fact that Jake Tapper wasn’t there had nothing to do with it.

We are still getting this line from the White House:

“In the Syrian seeking refuge today, we should see the Jewish refugee of World War II,” Mr. Obama said. Some Jewish refugee children were turned away from the United States during the period and were later killed by the Nazis.

Mr. Obama is struggling to fashion a message that reassures Americans that he is serious about battling the threat of the Islamic State while also avoiding xenophobia and alarmism. Polls suggest that many Americans believe he is not taking the threat from the Islamic State seriously enough, particularly after the deadly shooting in San Bernardino. Support among Republicans for banning Muslims is high…

The ceremony came as 25 Republican governors have vowed to block the entry of Syrian refugees into their states, including some where large numbers of Syrians have settled in recent years. Mr. Obama has condemned such comments as contradicting American values. The governors made their vow after the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris last month, and fears of terrorism have risen in the United States after the shooting this month in San Bernardino, Calif. But Mr. Obama said that such fears are unfounded

That’s the NYT drawing this comment from Robert Spencer:

How does he know that? Last February, the Islamic State boasted it would soon flood Europe with as many as 500,000 refugees. And the Lebanese Education Minister recently said that there were 20,000 jihadis among the refugees in camps in his country. Meanwhile, 80% of migrants who have recently come to Europe claiming to be fleeing the war in Syria aren’t really from Syria at all.

Meanwhile in England the spigot remains open:

Announcing that his target has been met, Cameron said: “Britain is doing its moral duty in terms of funding the refugees and the refugee camps. I made a promise that we would resettle a 1,000 Syrians by Christmas and I can confirm today that we have met our commitment. The charter flights that arrived yesterday at Stansted and Belfast mean that over a thousand have been settled, and another flight is coming today.

“The government has provided funding so that all these refugees get housing, healthcare, education, and I want to thank all the local authorities and all those who have worked so hard. I said that Britain would do its duty and with these 1,000 we’ve made a very good start.”

However Cameron isn’t saying much about this report:

DAVID Cameron was “warned radical Islamic groups including ISIS controlled refugee camps” from where Britain will fly in Syrian asylum seekers – BEFORE the Government began bringing in the first wave of 20,000, a shock new report claims.

The report talks about what’s going on in these camps and it’s not pretty

The AINA reported that in UN camps in Jordan, Islamist groups “have brought in similar violent Islamist practices” to those that the refugees had faced before they fled Syria.

These include coercion to join terror such as ISIS, and the buying and selling of women as sex slaves.

The AINA report quoted the director of a Christian relief agency working in Jordan as saying: “The Muslim gangs come as refugees, but they have their agendas.

“They’re like a mafia. People are even killed inside the camps, and the refugees are afraid to say if they saw somebody get killed. If you ask them, they’ll say, ‘I don’t know, I was asleep’.

While world leaders like Cameron & Obama continue to ignore this, in Sweden the People have decided to take matters in their own hands:

To get a gun permit in Sweden, you need to be at least 18 years old; law-abiding; well-behaved, and have a hunting license or be a member of an approved shooting club. In 2014, 11,000 people got a hunting license: 10% more than the year before. One out of five was a woman.

“There is also a high demand for alarm systems right now,” says a salesman at one of the security companies in an interview with Gatestone.

“It is largely due to the turbulence we are seeing around the country at the moment.” People have lost confidence in the State, he added. “The police will not come anymore. Truck drivers say that when they see a thief emptying the fuel tank of their trucks, they run out with a baseball bat. It is no use calling the police, but if you hit the thief, you can at least prevent him from stealing more diesel. Many homeowners say the same thing: they sleep with a baseball bat under the bed. But this is risky: the police can then say you have been prepared to use force, and that might backfire on you.”

When the Authorities won’t do the job the people end up doing it themselves

This is a very interesting read, because the whole of Europe is heading the same way as Sweden. Sweden is, so to speak, the future of Europe. And in this future, those who can afford it pay security companies – the rest gest license for firearms and forms vigilante groups.

and it’s not just Sweden, in Germany:

According to a report by Focus, following a 600% surge in sales over the past two months, Germany has run out of pepper spray, and the irritating substance can now only be purchased after weeks of waiting. Focus says that according to pepper spray manufacturers, “frightened Germans” have bought out all the available inventory. The alleged reason, according to the German publication: “die Flüchtlingskrise”, or the refugee crisis.

Focus goes on to say that in private, Germans are equipping themselves “massively.”

and Denmark:

The Danish police claim that they are “more pressed than ever,” mainly because of the terror threat and the migrant crisis. The rule of law is already undermined, as the police – as a result of being overburdened with handling Muslims – will no longer investigate thefts of less than 15,000 euros. Even if you call the police while the burglars are still to be seen inside your neighbour’s house, they will not come.

I wonder if Bernie Sanders will be holding this up as an example for us all?

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

Jedediah Tucker Ward: It’s not hypothetical to Dr. Pavel, he wrote it

Michael Grazier: So he says.

Jedediah Tucker Ward:
So he says under oath

Class Action 1991

…otherwise it would be more of a story:

A witness in the ongoing Rotherham sex-grooming trial told a jury yesterday that she decided to reveal her childhood abuse at the hands of Muslim men so that authorities could no longer sweep such crimes “under the carpet”.

The woman said she agreed to an interview with a journalist last year because she knew Shaun Wright — the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner at the time, who had previous served as head of children’s services on Rotherham Council — “was lying” when he said he “knew nothing about” the sex-abuse scandal.

This would be the Rotherham sex abuse scandal when years of grooming of young children by Muslim men was ignored by local authorities in political correctness gone wild.

It should be stressed that these statements were made under oath as opposed to say Susan Rice saying videos provoked Benghazi.

Oh and this isn’t newsworthy either:

“They took young girls, seven, nine and 10 years old,” explained Aveen, 23, to NBC News in early December. ISIS held her for almost a year before she escaped.

The guards held the women and children at a school, separate from the men. At night, those same guards raped the women.

“Some [females] are sold for weapons, or for just $10, or 10 cigarettes,” said activist Khider Domle, who interviewed numerous Yazidis.

In October, a young Yazidi woman, known only as Noor, told CNN that the militants justified raping her because the action would make her Muslim.

That’s the ISIS dungeons for sex slaves that for some reason I never see college feminists protest against.

But Pam Geller does:

You’ll note that Obama never speaks of these victims of unspeakable crimes. He never speaks of the Quranic texts and teachings that grants sex slavery  under Islamic law (sharia).

cites Chapter and verse:

the Quran stipulates that a man may take four wives as well as hold slave girls as sex slaves. These women are captured in wartime and are considered the spoils of war. Islam avoids the appearance of impropriety, declaring that the taking of these sex slaves does not constitute adultery if the women are already married, for their marriages are ended at the moment of their capture. A manual of Islamic law directs: “When a child or a woman is taken captive, they become slaves by the fact of capture, and the woman”s previous marriage is immediately annulled” (Reliance of the Traveller, o9.13).

and asks the question:

How many millions of girls have to be gang-raped, trafficked and enslaved before the elites stop clubbing those of us who oppose this savagery?

Alas  here in America this is something to be ignored.

Why?

Maybe Chris “Not all Jihadists are Muslim” Cuomo can explain it to me.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

For the first time in a month I woke up at 5 AM (day off) and with daily mass in the evening I turned on Morning Joe and saw something amazing.

The discussion was why Donald Trump was perceived as he was and turned instantly to Barack Obama noting that Paris happened after he said ISIS was contained and San Bernardino happened after he said ISIS can’t strike here. The pièce de résistance was when
Jon Meacham called it a malaise among the people like the Carter years and NOBODY AT THE TABLE CONTESTED IT.

Now for people like Glenn Reynolds and myself this is no big deal, I started my (Chester) Arthur (Jimmy) Carter watch during my first week of blogging (day 4 actually Dec 2 2008)

You sometimes get a rookie pitcher with a winning season but usually not. I’m hoping for Chester Arthur but I’m expecting Jimmy Carter.

But for the Morning Anchor show of MSNBC to say this in their first hour and have no liberal at the table contest it is amazing.

What was their explanation? ISIS. People are more afraid of a terror attack then at any time since 9/11. It’s brings to mind an early episode of the original Star Trek series: What are little girls made of?

Kirk: Emotion, Ruk? You disapprove of Miss Chapel’s orders to save my life?
Ruk: To maintain your existence would be illogical.
Kirk: Why? Can’t your memory banks solve a simple equation like that? …

Just as conservative bloggers and writers have been doing our best to counter the programing that the MSM has given the public concerning the Obama administration, Kirk presses the Android Rok to see the danger to him that he has been conditioned to avoid and finally gets a breakthrough…

Kirk: The danger to you is Korby.
Ruk: I was programmed by Korby. I cannot harm him.
Kirk: The old ones programmed you, too, but it became possible to destroy them.
RUK: [Excited] That was the equation! Existence! Survival must cancel out programming.

Realizing that this administration will get them killed has finally overridden the MSM & culture’s programming.

Too bad for America they didn’t figure this out four years ago.

Incidentally I dropped Arthur / Carter watch in the first year when it became clear which one he was going to be.  Walter Russell Mead said in 2001 that Jimmy Carter was the best case scenario for Obama.  He hasn’t even managed that.

Unexpectedly

There is one more point I would like to make concerning Linda Stasi’s Piece in the NY Daily News beyond what I said yesterday

There is a sentence in said piece where Stasi was condemning one of the terror victims from San Bernardino that our friends at Gateway Pundit highlighted.

The killer, however, became half of an Islamic Bonnie & Clyde, while the other died as the male equivalent of Pamela Geller.

This line speaks volumes and I submit and suggest that this was not a coincidence or just a bit of hyperbole, this was a dog whistle.

This was a message to potential Islamic killers that the New York Daily News and Linda Stasi believe that their sworn enemy Pamela Geller a US citizen who has spoken out about the dangers of Jihadist terrors are considered beyond the pale by them and that while it is required of them to offer pro-forma condemnation of any attempt to murder her, as far as they are concerned she has it coming.

It is a very public proclamation that while you might have a few disagreements on issues such as gay marriage (or more relevant concerning ISIS gays being tossed off of roofs) the NY Daily News and Linda Stasi are not completely unsympathetic to Muslim grievances and feeling that apparently drive them to murder.

Jake Tapper in a tweet yesterday noted the oddity of the tone that he is seeing concerning San Bernardino

Jake I don’t think it’s strange at all. The whole concept of joining the “kill me last” caucus is about establishing to the potential killers you should not be considered a legitimate target. Of trying to preserve one own’s life, unlike the secondary target of the Daily News Piece Pam Geller who bravely asks the question Stasi, the Daily News and many journalists will not.

American Muslims for the umpteenth time are wailing about a fear of reprisals – reprisals that never actually come in reality, but are always the focus of media obsession after every jihad attack. The blood of American Christians and Jews is still on the floor and the walls of a Christmas party, and they are playing the victim. How savage.

Why aren’t American Muslims mourning our dead? Why aren’t American Muslims using their money and influence to call for an “enlightenment” in Islam, a purge of the Quran and the Islamic texts and teachings that call for jihad and genocide?

The difference is quite striking isn’t it.

I’m fond of life and I’m sure Pam is too, but may I never be so fond of life that I would treat those who would murder either a friend such as Pam Geller or a person I hold in contempt such as Cecile Richards, with sympathy simply to increase the odds of saving my own skin.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

One of the things biggest difference between an MSM reporter and a blogger is editorial discretion.

Individual bloggers are their own editors. On an individual blog with nobody looking over your shoulder you are more likely to get not only the occasional spelling and grammar error but, depending on the blogger, to get occasional f-bomb, vulgarity and outrageous opinions that would never make a newspaper.

In contrast when I do an occasional piece for watchdog.org I have an editor who occasionally send pieces back for rewrites or rejection if it doesn’t meet their needs or standards. When my Weinergate blogpost was rewritten as an opinion piece in the  NY Post (leading to my appearance on Fox Boston) the Post was very careful with it taking several drafts & making sure nothing I made no unsubstantiated claims.

It is this fact that makes the placement of Linda Stasi’s piece in the New York Daily News worse than the content.

To be sure the content itself is reprehensible

They were two hate-filled, bigoted municipal employees interacting in one department. Now 13 innocent people are dead in unspeakable carnage.

One man spent his free time writing frightening, NRA-loving, hate-filled screeds on Facebook about the other’s religion.

The other man quietly stewed and brewed his bigotry, collecting the kind of arsenal that the Facebook poster would have envied.

and has drawn rebuke from folks from Erick Erickson:

The left keeps reaching new lows. This really is amazing. The New York Daily News’ Linda Stasi has penned a piece attacking one of the victims killed by the terrorists in California.

Turns out he is an evangelical, born-again Messianic Jew and NRA member. Therefore, he can be attacked and defamed after being killed by terrorists

To Rod Dreher

It is vile, utterly vile, that Linda Stasi and the Daily News would speak of a murdered man that way. So, what, does the Daily News now reserve the right to look into the opinions of all murder victims, and if they don’t like what they see, publish columns saying that they are no better than the man who slaughtered them?

Stasi here reminds me of the old black-humor joke: “Sure, Hitler hated the Jews. But to be fair, the Jews also hated Hitler.”

And if this was Linda Stasi writing on her blog for all the well deserved critique it might draw it would be of no more consequence than the ravings of the assorted twentysomething feminists that Stacy McCain mocks. It would be a blogger ranting and the onus would rightly be exclusively on her.

But that’s not what happened.

This piece didn’t run on a person blog, it ran in the New York Daily News (Alexa Rank 783) a major American Newspaper in the Largest City in the United States and decided to put it under the masthead.

Think about that.

Not only did the layers of editor and fact checkers at the New York Daily News decide that Ms. Stasi’s piece was worthy of publication in their paper, but they upon consideration concluded that it belonged under the masthead for every reader to see.

To put this in proper perspective imagine if the New York Daily News running such a piece attacking a 9/11 victim on September 14th 2001.  Or maybe on the next anniversary of 9/11 picture the city removing the names of any victims who were members of the NRA.

To be sure Linda Stasi has a first amendment right to say, think and write what she wants. She has a right to try and distribute those opinions to as wide an audience as she can muster by whatever platforms are willing to give her space to do so.

She however doesn’t have a first amendment right to the Masthead of the New York Daily News, that had to be given to her by the paper’s affirmative consent and the New York Daily News and it’s editorial board should be judged accordingly.

The Godfather Part II 1974

It is said that a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality, the corollary being of course that as long as a liberal does not have to deal with unpleasant realities, they will have no reason to remove oneself from their beliefs.

This explains the streak of liberalism in the very very rich. Once you reach a particular level of wealth there is very little for you to actually fear, the basic needs that everyone has, food, shelter, safety, medical care, are taken care of while the things that add to life: companionship, sexual desire (there is nothing that makes you more attractive to the opposite sex than wealth, if you don’t believe me ask Summer Redstone), entertainment, prestige are available with very little effort or at a price that can be afforded.

It also explains the liberalism of those in particular jobs, a tenured college professor for example has a secure job for life. While they don’t have the lifestyle of the very rich barring massive stupidity the basic needs will be set and many of the things that add to life come with the job at no additional charge.

This extends to a lesser degree to people who have jobs they can’t be fired from (think government bureaucracy) , pols and the press at the highest levels who thanks to their position and connections have entrée to many of these things. The big variable for them are the approval of those above them who have the power to take these things away.

This is the thing you must understand before anything else when you look at the left’s reaction to San Bernardino.

Many of us on the right are completely perplexed by their reaction. From the pushing of gun laws that would be totally ineffective against the problem to pushing of a “workplace violence” meme to the avoidance of naming Islamic Terror their memes are, to they eyes of us conservatives, a completely illogical reaction.

This is not the case.

The mistake that conservatives make here is looking at the situation though our eyes and value systems which makes such reactions seem warped. If however you look at this through the eyes of a comfortable liberalism it all makes perfect sense.

In the safe space of liberalism, all of these events are things that happen to other people. The only way they become your problem is if you make it your problem. So how do you keep it from being your problem? Change the subject

Make this a “guns” issue along or a “workplace violence” issue. These are things that have no connection to the liberal world. Thus it doesn’t affect their status quo.

After all if the issue is guns, then as people either with bodyguards or working in a place with a guarded building the removal of weapons from others doesn’t affect them. If the issue is workplace violence, again that doesn’t phase them, they see themselves as not being in such an environment themselves.

But more important than this is the concept of doing all that can be done to avoid giving offence to radical Islam even to the point of promising to prosecute those who defame Islam.

Again this is completely rational.

It’s one thing to critique the NRA, the Catholic Church pro-lifers, the tea party and the GOP because for all the left’s protestation to the contrary, they know that none of these groups can affect their comfortable lives, let alone harm them.

Islam is the great barrier breaker, if a person has decided to kill you and more important doesn’t care if they live through the attempt then all bets are off.

Suddenly the reporter is in danger on every assignment, suddenly the professor is insecure in their classroom, suddenly for the celebrity every entrance and exit to an event is a choke point to be ambushed in. Even the swankiest restaurant is not safe, remember the fanaticism of Islam is not restricted to the poorest of the poor.

In other words they have something to lose, and they certainly aren’t going to risk the comfort they possess to fight a threat that likely isn’t going to be able to get them anyways, particularly if you are a secular progressive who isn’t expecting anything better after this life.

So they attack climate change, or shared bathrooms or guns or any other made up threat and not speak of radical Islam expect to denounce those who warn of the danger:

Pam and those who warn of Radical Islam are Fiver calling for help for those caught in a snare. Her detractors are Cowslip the head of the snared warren. To oppose radical Islam requires a courage they don’t have and to openly admit appeasement acknowledges a cowardice they can’t bear. Much easier to not talk about it and preserve their illusion of dignity.

Much better to remain in the comfort of their walls both physical or mental, after all it’s unlikely the Islamist will get around to them in their lifetime if they just keep their mouths shut.

Update:  This fyi also explains the liberal reluctance to take on the gangs in the city, why put yourself at risk when it’s only poor blacks and Hispanics that will vote for you anyway who will die?

Update 2: If you want to see the end result of the “Kill me last” caucus meet the “rape me last” caucus.

As of this writing ( 9 PM EST before I head to work) the FBI is starting lean toward terror as the source of the attack in San Bernardino & ISIS is certainly pushing the meme on social media

But the New York Daily news has found the real culpret, God

All over twitter our friends on the left have been attacking those who would pray for the victims in San bernardino, at least one Democrat Senator is attacking it as is the Huffington Post.

This reaction against prayer should not be a surprise. I would remind you that the reason why I left the party myself was their hostility to religion and the largest single group in the democrat party based on religion is “no religious affiliation

The Left has become increasingly secular and given the choice between fighting a war on terror against islamic foes or a war on prayer against republicans they’ll choose the later every time.

During Day 8 of the blog back in the days after Barack Obama was elected but while George Bush still held the White House I wrote this

In the end it comes to this, Militant Islam is going to have to be either stopped, submitted to or changed from within.

The current president and our military have made a good effort at the first particularly going on offense, but it will take time, effort and treasure.

As far as submitting goes laws in the west have already headed in that direction even to the point where Sharia law is gaining in England and Canada. I hate to say it but frankly I suspect that those who cry loudest at the “Oppression” of the current administration would find a reason and excuse to submit if Sharia comes to call.

As far as change goes it can either be from within or imposed. There are men and woman with a whole hell of a lot more courage than me such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Nonie Darwish and Walid Shoebat trying to make the case at the risk of their lives but unless the avg Muslim supports them they can’t do it alone. It still remains to be seen if they are the William Lloyd Garrisons of their times.

If they don’t its up to us

This was written December 6th 2008 and it’s become very apparent that the “change from within” option is disappearing quickly.  Muslims in America and the west are either too afraid of the Islamists, too addicted to the power of fear over westerners , or really indifferent to the fate of non muslims.  That leave the imposed change option.

However our president is apparently more interested in attacking republicans, our media is more interested in trying to play gotcha with Donald Trump and while 70 years ago our military age youth of the country was fighting the threat of Hitler today they are interested in fighting Woodrow Wilson whose only similarities to Hitler is a dislike for blacks and having died  both died in the last century.

Of course it’s a lot easier to face down a dead president than live islamists but the clock is continuing to tick and the body count continues to pile up and it’s not just from the big attacks in places like Mali:

Two Israelis and a Palestinian man were killed late Thursday afternoon when a two Palestinian terrorists shot at cars stuck in a traffic jam near the Guish Etzion junction in the West Bank.

Initial reports suggest that the terrorist fired at the cars and then sped in the direction of the Alon Shvut settlement and slammed into a car. The terrorists exited their vehicle and attempted to fire off further shots. Security forces shot at them and then arrested them.

This stuff is happening in Israel on a regular basis and if it wasn’t for the presence of an American student among the dead nobody in the west would have noticed.

But I shouldn’t expect better from the west, after all in Israel where this stuff is going in front of their faces the left is in denial even when the palestinians admit in public their intentions.

Against the bloody background of stabbings and other deadly violence in Israel and the West Bank, Daniel Polisar’s thorough analysis of Palestinian polling data, “What Do Palestinians Want?,” makes essential reading for anyone interested in more than just the grim daily headlines. His central point—that the majority of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza have long supported “armed struggle” against Israelis—is not only accurate but a fact regularly distorted by media focus on the seemingly “individual” nature of today’s terrorist incidents.

It is human nature to put off unpleasant things until there is no other choice, it takes a leader to move things early.

Let’s hope we pick one who can. You all know my choice.

It’s such a nice change to have someone sane in the corner office for a change in a State like Massachusetts (emphasis mine)

As of Monday afternoon, the following states were opposed to taking refugees — most have Republican governors, although New Hampshire has a Democratic governor:

Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Louisiana
Massachusetts
Michigan
Mississippi
New Hampshire
North Carolina
Ohio
Texas
Wisconsin

Here is the map

Yes Massachusetts it DOES make a difference to have Charlie Baker in charge.

C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters XIII

One of the great strengths and successes of the Democrat party has been the ability to peddle situations where the costs of their actions and inactions are not apparent.

From Ted Kennedy’s immigration bill in 1965, to the pull out from Iraq, to the scoring of Obamacare, to Global warming,  to the current college protests the democrats have thrived on selling either faux crisis or ignoring the long-term consequences of their policies for short-term political gain.

In a country as rich as the United States were actual danger is rare, at least if you don’t live in a democrat inner city like Baltimore, it’s not as hard as it sound and has been highly effective for the party,  but every now and then cold hard reality intrudes and throw a big wrench into this business.

Paris is such an event.

The Paris attack is everything the Democrat party hates, a deadly reality, taking place in front of the entire world that directly contradicts several of their most cherished memes:

Islam is not a threat
Pulling Troops out of Iraq ended a war
We don’t need troops to stop ISIS
Open borders are not a problem
Students attending expensive universities are oppressed
Climate change is the biggest threat to humanity

It’s even more deadly when your party base increasingly believes that there is nothing after this life.   The idea that fanatics can permanently end your existence at a metal concert or a sporting event or a restaurant has to be doubly frightening for the unbeliever.

Now under normal circumstances given a few days the Democrats and their media allies would have had time to come up with a coordinated message to answer this threat (not the Islamists themselves but the reality breaking through their defenses) but alas the attack took place the day before the 2nd Democrat debate, a debate that had been specifically designed to keep people from viewing it.

And in that debate the Democrats found themselves confounded by the great contradiction. Even with the blood still on the streets do they appeal to their base or to the reality of the threat? What would Hillary Clinton do? Let’s go to the transcript:

DICKERSON: Secretary Clinton, you mentioned radical jihadists. Marco Rubio, also running for president, said that this attack showed and the attack in Paris showed that we are at war with radical Islam. Do you agree with that characterization, radical Islam?

CLINTON: I don’t think we’re at war with Islam. I don’t think we’re at war with all Muslims. I think we’re at war with jihadists who have —

DICKERSON: Just to interrupt. He didn’t say all Muslims. He just said radical Islam. Is that a phrase you don’t…

CLINTON: I think THAT you can talk about Islamists who clearly are also jihadists, but I think it’s not particularly helpful to make the case that Senator Sanders was just making that I agree with, that we’ve got to reach out to Muslim countries.

And the same problem came up for Sanders

DICKERSON: Just quickly, do either of you, radical Islam, do either of you use that phrase?

SANDERS: I don’t think the term is what’s important. What is important to understand is we have organizations, whether it is ISIS or Al Qaida, who do believe we should go back several thousand years. We should make women third-class citizens, that we should allow children to be sexually assaulted, that they are a danger to modern society.

And that this world, with American leadership, can and must come together to destroy them. We can do that. And it requires an entire world to come together, including in a very active way, the Muslim nations.

And O’Malley

DICKERSON: Governor O’ Malley, you have been making the case when you talk about lack of forward vision, you’re essentially saying that Secretary Clinton lacks that vision and this critique matches up with this discussion of language. The critique is that the softness of language betrays a softness of approach. So if this language — if you don’t call it by what it is, how can your approach be effective to the cause? that’s the critique.

O’ MALLEY: I believe calling it what it is, is to say radical jihadis. That’s calling it what it is. But John, let’s not fall into the trap of thinking that all of our Muslim American neighbors in this country are somehow our enemies here. They are our first line of defense.

This unwillingness to say: “Radical Islam” was a topic of dry comment:

The three candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination had different ideas at Saturday night’s Iowa debate about what to call terrorists — but they wanted to leave “Islamist” out of any descriptor.

Political leads:

Hillary Clinton may have talked tough Saturday night about defeating terrorists, but her desire to avoid uttering one word immediately led Republicans to declare her weak.
That word? Islam.

Democrat worry

“I say this as a liberal, I would be concerned as a Democrat about the entire terrorism part of this debate,” Beinart said.

and GOP snark:

Homosexuality used to be known as the love that dare not speak its name. When it comes to Islamic terrorism, Islam is the religion that dare not speak its name. On this the candidates were all agreed.

This reality is a toxic thing to the left and as long as it is front and center it will mean that there is a chance to actually address this problem and in the long run save lives.

But we on the right need to face reality as well.  The Paris attack will only be toxic for a short time to the left’s worldview.  Like any infection this dose of reality will eventually be beaten back by the antibodies of self indulgence, self delusion and self righteousness of people who presume that as frightening as the attacks in Paris are, it’s not a physical threat to them.

We don’t have long to use this moment, we need to do so now while our friends on the left are still willing to allow us to help save their lives and our own.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

Via Carl In Jerusalem (who is in my neck of the woods at the moment) a reminder that our Islamic Friends have not let their desire to hit the west distract them from the primary duty to kill Jews:

The names of the victims of the erev Shabbos terror attack near Otniel are Rabbi Yaakov Litman HY”D, 44, and his son Netanel HY”D, 18. The levayas will begin at 21:00 in Har Menuchos in Yerushalayim.

According to the information released by police, the terrorists opened fire from a vehicle that was stopped on the side of the road. In addition to the fatalities, a 16-year-old was injured by shrapnel and a number of others treated for hysteria. They were all transported to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva

Carl Has more details on the murdered men:

It seems that Yaakov and Netanel were on their way to their future son-in-law and brother-in-law’s aufruf (the calling to the Torah that takes place the Sabbath before the wedding) in Meitar, which is just outside Be’er Sheva. Yaakov’s daughter, Netanel’s sister is scheduled to be married on Tuesday night

Well of course we shouldn’t make conclusions about all Palestinians or followers of Islam by stuff like this after all they share a common humanity right?

From eyewitness reports, it is confirmed there was a Red Crescent (PA (Palestinian Authority) ) ambulance in the area, which saw the attack, but preferred to drive off rather than assist ‘settlers’ who were wounded by Islamic terrorists.

Picture for a moment what Amnesty International would have said if an Israeli Ambulance left wounded arabs to die, but then again Amnesty is busy arguing for the safety of those committing the attacks:

One case cited is that of Fadi Alloun, the man from Issawiya who stabbed a Jewish teen in the incident mentioned above. According to Amnesty, the Jewish boy was only “lightly injured.” A news account at the time said that the young Moshe Malka was “moderately injured” and taken to the hospital “in stable condition with wounds to the chest and back.” But one can hardly expect Amnesty’s investigators to waste time ascertaining the degree of injury to a Jew.

Apparently the inability to successfully kill a jew is a mitigating factor for a Palestinian

Amnesty maintains that the Israeli police had no right to shoot a man advancing on them with a knife when he was still “some metres away.” They should have allowed Mr. Alloun to get close enough to stab a police officer or nearby civilian first. That’s how the game is supposed to be played.

But we still shouldn’t be drawing conclusions about Islam based on stats like this:

And like the Paris attacks they have a single goal in common:

believe that the targets were chosen for their symbolic value and for their variety. The attack on the Russian jet (which despite its differences I lump in with the Paris attacks in terms of broad goals) was aimed at transportation. The places chosen in Paris—restaurant, sports arena, concert—were a nice sampling of Westerners at play. The idea is to make people feel vulnerable everywhere they gather.

Of course on the bright side, protestors in Amherst Massachusetts, Yale & at Missouri University can take comfort that the murders of those jews like Vaakov, unlike the Paris attacks, didn’t push them off the front pages.

Closing thought #1 If the attacks in Paris had happened in Jerusalem or Tel Avi, would the world be flying Israeli colors in sympathy or would they be justifying the targeting of Jews & pointing to Israel as the cause? Of course it would be the latter although in fairness the the spin machine of the left on Paris is in full swing:

in the U.S., the gun control crowd is worried about that sort of “gun violence” happening here. From an actor, to CNN, to a group of moms, the attacks are being shamefully politicized without laying blame where it squarely belongs.

Closing Thought #2  When it comes to Paris some US Candidates are blunt like Ted Cruz:

We must make it crystal clear that affiliation with ISIS and related terrorist groups brings with it the undying enmity of America—that it is, in effect, signing your own death warrant.”

and Ben Carson:

‘I think America’s involvement should be trying to eliminate them completely,’ he said. ‘Destroy them!’

I submit and suggest that Israel would be totally justified in applying the same solution to the daily attacks on their citizens. Update: Bingo!

Last night I had a post up with predictions concerning the Paris attacks. In less that 24 hours several of them have come true:

No networks having Pam Geller or Robert Spencer CHECK

Hungary border fence copied, CHECK

Pushing the Muslim’s as terrified of retaliation CHECK

Mizzou & #millionstudentmarch etc/all making fools of themselves BIG CHECK

Obviously the names of the victims have yet to be released and the democrat debate isn’t till tonight and European elections have not yet taken place so we will have to wait on those predictions but lets add one more

I predicted that given the choice of fighting back or letting them be, I predicted they would let them be however the French President is saying this:

“We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless,” he said at the Bataclan, the site of one of the attacks, according to the Guardian.

“Because when terrorists are capable of committing such atrocities, they must be certain that they are facing a determined France, a united France, a France that is together and does not let itself be moved, even if today we express infinite sorrow,” Hollande added.

I’ll like Mark Steyn believe it when I see it but if the French actually go to war, I have one huge prediction.

It will take less that one week for the left in both Europe and America to turn on them as aggressors.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

Yesterday Hillary Clinton appeared before congress and there was one thing that came out that really caught Bill Kristol’s eye:

This tweet reveals Mr. Kristol is still living in a Judeo Christian culture. There are two reasons why this revelation, serious by the standards of truth vs falsehood, will not matter here.

1. The Mainstream media like any good totalitarian organization is all about wiping the past. The same MSM that attacked Romney rather than the administration after Cairo & Benghazi will judge Hillary not on anything she says but on her deportment. She will be made the “victim” of Benghazi because unless Michelle Obama suddenly jumps into the race she is, in their mind, the presumptive Democrat nominee & must be protected at all costs.

2. The Democrat Party has abandoned judeo christian standards of truth & ethical standards as a prerequisite for nomination. If actual dead americans and successful attacks on an US mission did not stop democrats from voting for Barack Obama a simple thing like lying to the American people to help facilitate that election isn’t going to bother them.

So a much as Bill Kristol considers this revelation is a “Wow” it won’t stop the media from protecting her, surrogates from defending and democrats from voting for her.

There are few statements that disgust me more than this, but that disgust is because it’s true.

I know you can get the MSM for nothing, but that’s pretty much what most of them are worth.

In fact they didn’t just destroy them, they occupied them with a military force that remains to this day which not only forced cultural changes to prevent them from being a threat to the civilized world but led them to become on of the richest , most technologically advanced and civilized places in the entire world.

It’s a good thing too because if my father’s Generation treated Pearl Harbor the way we treat 9/11 Not only would Japan still hold a Pacific Empire including China, Korea the Philippines, Indochina and Singapore, their military ruling it under an iron fist that would make the likes of Mao & the Kims of North Korea blush but they would still be a threat to us today.

So you’ll pardon me but I’m not going to weep, or attend moments of silence or any of those other things to remind our enemies of their greatest single victory in the war on terror. I decline to give Islamists a propaganda victory they can use to recruit the next generation of people who want to kill our children and grandchildren.

When we have destroyed them, when we have occupied them with a military force and so subjugated to the point that they are no longer a threat to the civilized world, then it’s time to hold memorials. I’ll give the last word to a man named Sherman

We cannot change the hearts and minds of those people of the South, but we can make war so terrible … [and] make them so sick of war that generations would pass away before they would again appeal to it.”

If we truly want to end the threat of Islamic terror and want our children to be able to live without fear as we once did just a generation ago we should do the same to the Islamists of Isis and Al Qaeda and any nation that supports them.

We have the power, we simply do not have the will.

Samwise: Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding on to, Sam?
Samwise: There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.

The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers 2002

We’ve heard a lot about the Americans who stopped a terrorist on a French train, but we’ve not heard much about the Brit involved. Via Ace of Spades we have now:

“My first reaction was to sit down and hide. Then I heard an American say, ‘Go get him’. I decided it was really the only chance, to act as a team and try to take down the assailant.

“My thought was, I’m probably going to die anyway, so let’s go. I’d rather die being active, trying to get him down, than simply sit in the corner and be shot.”

“Either you sit down and you die, or you get up and you die. It was really nothing more then that,” he said.

Additionally we now know that unlike the initial reports that stated all the Americans involved were US Marines, it turns out one was an Air Force medic, one a national guards man and the third an American civilian.

But the most significant part of the story is this:

And it’s a good thing that the Americans stepped in because the early reports indicate that the staff on the train turned and fled like sheep when the trouble started, barricading themselves in their staff room and leaving the passengers to fend for themselves.

The lesson here is simple, unless someone is willing to lead the bad guys win.

And that takes us to the Iran deal.

America under Barack Obama, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and the democrats KNOW who and what Iran is.  But they understand that the only way to stop Iran is to be willing to act which involves political will and angering their base which frankly doesn’t care if Iran wipes Israel from the face of the earth.

Thus their priority is not to stop Iran, it’s to provide an excuse for not stopping (shades of the classic “four stage strategy”) in such a way that when Iran actually gets nukes, they can feign shock and surprise.

That the dirty little secret, and the difference between the Iran deal and the French Train.

The Americans on the French Train acted, understood the personal risk involved in trying to stop him and was willing to take those personal risks it to protect innocent life.

The American pols pushing the Iran deal don’t want to act. They understand stopping Iran involves no physical risk for them but contains political risk within their party, and they are unwilling to take that political risk to protect innocent life.

So when you see our media rightly lionize those who stood up and fought an individual jihadi, take note of the irony that the same media is doing all it can to help the president enable a nations jihad against Israel and the world.

Update: Great minds and all that…

Fear is contagious. But so is courage. People should respond not like a herd of sheep but like a pack of wolves. When the follow-up report on the 2001 attacks came out, J.B. Schramm noted in The Washington Post that “on Sept. 11, 2001, American citizens saved the government, not the other way around.” Intelligence agencies failed. Air defense systems failed. But: “Requiring less time than it took the White House to gather intelligence and issue an attack order (which was in fact not acted on), American citizens gathered information from national media and relayed that information to citizens aboard the flight, who organized themselves and effectively carried out a counterattack against the terrorists, foiling their plans. Armed with television and cellphones, quick-thinking, courageous citizens who were fed information by loved ones probably saved the White House or Congress from devastation.”

Too bad the government doesn’t have that courage on Iran.

They’re not anti war, they’re just on the other side

Glenn Reynolds

…in this piece from Investors Business Daily

In an unusual legal move, the Obama administration has taken the legal side of the Palestinian Authority and Palestine Liberation Organization in a federal court case that American terrorism victims’ families had already won.”

via Ed Driscoll.  Can we stop pretending that there is anything “unusual”  Barack Obama’s Administration doing things that help people who want to kill Americans, jews & Christians.

Just a reminder Pam Geller and Robert Spencer saw this years ago and wrote about it over five years ago

At the time they were called extremists and hate mongers. Even when terrorists tried to murder them they were blamed for provoking them yet every day that goes by proves them right.

Update:  What a coincidence:

Iranian TV (Al-Alam) interviewed fighters from the Gaza branch of Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, while standing inside an attack tunnel claimed to be 3.5 km long, and opening inside Israel. The purpose of the tunnel is to facilitate larger scale terror attacks from Gaza into Israel.

The announcement that Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, internationally recognized as a terror organization, is asking for money from Iran comes at the same time that the PA has announced that Mahmoud Abbas will be vising Iran. As Palestinian Media Watch reported yesterday, senior PLO official Abbas Zaki, said that strengthening ties with Iran is “an inevitable step if we [the Palestinians] want to confront the Israeli occupation.”
Well it’s a good thing our President is fighting to keep tough sanctions on Iran to keep them from funding these terrorists who want to slaughter Jews… oh wait

heads

Here is the exchange that those headlines refer to:

KARL: Would President Trump authorize waterboarding and other enhanced interrogation techniques, even torture?

TRUMP: I would be inclined to be very strong. When people are chopping off other people’s heads and then we’re worried about waterboarding and we can’t, because I have no doubt that that works. I have absolutely no doubt.

KARL: You’d bring back waterboarding?

TRUMP: …you mention waterboarding, which was such a big subject. I haven’t heard that term in a year now, because when you see the other side chopping off heads, waterboarding doesn’t sound very severe.

Now if you are not familiar with how things work. What both the right and the left will often do is grab something from an interview and not how radical it is, how unacceptable it is, how it shows a temperament that does not reflect well on the person in question.

So take a look at that sub headline from Crooks & Liars and let this fact sink in.

To the people at Crooks and Liars Donald Trump’s statement that: “when you see the other side chopping off heads, waterboarding doesn’t sound very severe.” is a statement so outrageous that they believe they can make political hay out if it.

However to any sane human being not only is that statement objectively true but I suspect to the American voter hearing about women being sold into sexual slavery by our ISIS foes

But the Islamic State’s “revival” of the institution of chattel slavery—sex slavery of Christian and Yizidi women and girls no less—has faded from public attention.

Over the past decade, thousands of Iraqi and Syrian Christians—including, in 2013, an entire convent of Syrian Orthodox nuns—have been taken captive for ransom. Last August, shortly after ISIS established its caliphate, it began something new. After capturing non-Sunni women and girls, ISIS began awarding and selling them as sex slaves. The vast majority were Yizidis but some, according to UN reports, were Christians.

Boasting about it and justifying it under islam:

“One should remember that enslaving the families of the kuffar — the infidels — and taking their women as concubines is a firmly established aspect of the Shariah, or Islamic law,” the group says in an online magazine published Sunday.

…said voters might conclude that waterboarding is much too good for them.

But apparently not to those on the left, at least not to those who read crooks and liars.

Late Yesterday the news came that the in the attack in the Boston area on police, the primary target was not the police:

Usaamah Rahim, who was fatally shot after waving a military knife at law enforcement officers in Boston, was originally plotting to behead Pamela Geller, an activist and conservative blogger, law enforcement sources told CNN on Wednesday.

Watch the interview

and be either amazed at the cluelessness of Burnett or be shocked at her suggestion that an ad explicitly opposing Jihad is ground for attempted murder.  It’s as if the MSM were doing their best Dalek Impersonation:

As Pam herself puts it:

Erin Burnett just doesn’t get it.

They targeted me for violating sharia blasphemy laws. They mean to kill everyone who doesn’t do their bidding and abide by them voluntarily. This is a showdown for American freedom. Will we stand against this savagery, or bow down to them and silence ourselves?

If there is one thing that actually surprises me are all these “informed” people seem either shocked that Pam is a target or act as if this is only a recent thing.  For almost the entire time I’ve known her Pam has been a target traveling with bodyguards.

Perhaps Erin and the crew at CNN might be a tad better informed if they had read this interview with her I did in Aug of 2013

4. You seem to shrug off death threats the way people comb hair out of their eyes, where does this strength come from?

I am fighting for freedom. Life is not worth living without freedom. If we don’t fight now, when? When the death threat becomes …… law?

5. A rather somber question, if tomorrow your foes managed to silence you, other than the obvious answer (Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch) where would recommend your readers go to stay informed about Radical Islam.

The Religion of Peace.com

I think that what really upsets people is Pam’s courage is a constant reminder of a lot of other people’s cowardice.  Every day she stands up like a lion she reminds everyone else that they are mice.  That’s why in my opinion if the Islamists manage to murder her may so called supporters of free speech will publicly deplore it and privately celebrate.

It’s a national disgrace.

Two thoughts in closing:

If Radical Islam ever conquers the few people who resist in secret will have pictures of Pam on their wall & copies of her writing hidden on flash drives to inspire them to fight on.

But when Radical Islam falls, and it eventually will, there will be a lot of people who collaborated with it who, with the threat of the blade gone, will suddenly go from sounding like mice to sounding like lions.

They had better hope that day comes after Pam is gone because if she is still alive she’ll not let them get away with it.

Update:  Via Zilla Pam is interviewed by Fox they do it right as did Jake Tapper who has been an example of real journalism for a while & is getting hit for it.

Monty Python Life of Brian 1979

We noted a while back how the feckless of the Obama administration helped forge informal ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Now as the Iranian Allies March through Yemen raising the possibility of a two front war for the Saudi’s as Iranian allies begin to encircle them they have decided to act.

A coalition of Arab states have launched air strikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen who have forced the country’s president to flee.

The Iranian-backed rebels from the north of Yemen seized the capital last year and have been expanding their control ever since.

Operation “Storm of Resolve” is being led by Saudi Arabia, and includes countries from across the region.

What’s amazing about this Saudi force is not only what it involves

The Saudis also mobilized 150,000 troops, Al Arabiya said, raising the possibility of a ground offensive,. The Egyptian presidency issued a statement Thursday saying it was also prepared to send ground forces if necessary.

The Saudis and their allies don’t want to be drawn into a prolonged ground war, regional experts said. They are more likely hoping to force the Houthi rebels back to the negotiating table in a position of weakness.

But why they finally did it:

Two senior US Republican senators, John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, endorsed the attacks. But they also used the occasion to criticize what they called a lack of US leadership in the region.

“We understand why our Saudi and other Arab partners felt compelled to take action. The prospect of radical groups like Al-Qaeda, as well as Iranian-backed militants, finding safe haven on the border of Saudi Arabia was more than our Arab partners could withstand,” the senators said in a joint statement.

“Their action also stems from their perception of America’s disengagement from the region and absence of US leadership,” they wrote.

And the Saudi’s are not alone in this thought:

Decision makers in Israel have come to an understanding that the Americans have no intention of imposing demands on Iran with regards to halting military operations and even terrorist attacks in other countries as part of the agreement over Tehran’s nuclear program.

But Israel’s concerns regarding the Houthi takeover of Yemen are nothing compared to the profound discontent of Riyadh and other Arab countries, in light of Iran’s rampage throughout the Middle East and the blatant inaction on the part of the US.

The outcome of the Saudi military operation may not be decisive, but reflects much Saudi, Jordanian and Egyptian frustration. The anger of these regimes is not directed at Iran, which is more or less engaged in the kind of hostile activity expected of it, but mainly at Washington.

For all the talk of “US Coordination” if you think for one minute the Saudi’s are sharing intelligence with us as we continue to cozy up to Iran you are out of your mind.  That’s why the arab states finally decided that if Iran’s proxy’s are to be stopped they have to do it yourself.

And THAT is the bright side of it all.

It has always rubbed me and other the wrong way that at the same time they’ve been buying off terror groups to keep themselves from being targeted the Saudi Royal family has used our armed forces as a sort of a mercenary army to do the work they will not.  my while at the same time paying off the terror groups that are trying to kill us to keep them from targeting their family which is in easy reach.

But now we have reached a point where the Saudi’s consider us so unreliable that they are not only doing the fighting for themselves but are willing to risk the wrath of the radicals they fund to do it.

Granted it’s a small thing and there are risks, and yes it’s a very small sliver coin in a bucket of manure that has been the Obama foreign policy but after six years of smelling this garbage one has to take one’s consolations where one can.

Back during the Bush years we used to occasionally hear that once democrats were in charge again they would look at national security seriously:

If Presidential Candidate Clinton sometimes displays a commendable maturity towards the war in Iraq and National Security, compared to her fellow party-members, perhaps it derives from her more certain confidence of what the former Clinton White House thought abut the risk of Saddam seeking to advance his WMD programs and capabilities.

All of which makes the rhetorical dishonesty of Democratic war opponents (especially those nouveau) all the more reprehensible.

Expect much more nuanced, even handed treatments of the past, now that Democrats seek to take over the Executive, rediscover the need to preserve and protect National Security and the National Interest, and seek to nurture a more grown-up view of the best intentions of their one-time (political) enemies.

I even recall some saying we needed to elect democrats since it was the only way to get them to stop trying to make us  lose in Iraq and Afghanistan as it would be on them (can’t find the link to save my life).  There were more than a few people who believed in that line.

Joe Lieberman wasn’t one of them:

A great Democratic secretary of state, Dean Acheson, once warned ‘no people in history have ever survived, who thought they could protect their freedom by making themselves inoffensive to their enemies.’ This is a lesson that today’s Democratic Party leaders need to relearn.

almost a decade later with Isis on the rise, Iran operating in Iraq and the rest of the world burning and the White House now facing the image of a man they traded 5 terrorist for being tried for desertion I have this to say:

The experiment of putting liberals in charge of National defence has been a total failure.

If we do it again in 2016 we’ll not only be defeated, but we’ll deserve defeat.

For a while I’ve been asking the question:  “If Barack Obama was an agent of Iran & its Muslim Brotherhood allies how would what he had done be different from what he has already done?”

That question suggests that Barack Obama have been doing what he does because he is in fact on the other side.

However Richard Fernandez in his harsh critique of the President over the fall of Yemen has this to say:

Now, as the conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia moves directly to the borders of the Kingdom itself,  Obama is like a deer in the headlights, incapable of any meaningful action. He’s been reduced to hoping that Tehran throws him a bone.  The man who depicted himself as a transcendent figure on history’s stage, who described his foreign policy vision at the Temple of Hercules has been out-thought, out-generaled and completely outclassed by men with far fewer resources, but a great deal more ability than himself.

Emphasis mine

That statement reminds us of one of the oldest saying in the book:

Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.

President Obama is not properly called “stupid” but his lack of practical knowledge is showing.

Or as a D & D player might say: 16 intelligence 3 wisdom.

It is almost a week since the Tom Cotton’s open letter to Iran signed by 47 republicans was published yet judging by the Washington Post piece on Friday

The spirit of Chief Justice Roger B. Taney’s opinion in the 1857 Dred Scott decision — that blacks “had no rights which the white man was bound to respect” — has descended upon the administration of President Obama.

When the speaker of the House of Representatives can deliver the public affront of inviting a foreign leader to Congress to denounce the president’s most important diplomatic initiative, and when 47 Republican senators can send an open letter advising a foreign adversary that the president’s designated negotiators can’t deliver on the international deal under consideration, it’s fair to say that Republicans are telling the world that this president has no authority that they feel “bound to respect.”

and the reaction of the Sunday shows this weekend

Well, Senator, are you planning to contact any other of our adversaries around the country, for example, do you plan to check with the North Koreans to make sure that they know that any deal has to be approved by the Congress?

illustrates the left shows no sign of ending their outrage at Senator Cotton & company.

Now if you actually read the letter you will find that it contains information that anyone with a basic knowledge of the US Constitution knows is absolutely correct.

Listen to some of the critiques of the left:

Rep Adam Schiff:   “deeply irresponsible.”

Joe Biden:  beneath the dignity of an institution I revere

Christian Science Monitor:  The next Hanoi Jane

Ny Daily News:  Traitors

Michael Gearson: raises questions about GOP’s capacity to govern

Major Gen. Paul D. Eaton of the liberal VoteVets.org Mutinous

In all of these descriptions of what those senators said you won’t find the word “false” among them.

At the same time the President is claiming his deal will stop an Iranian bomb that same President’s state department & his Secretary of State, Furthermore because we are already seeing the fruit of: Operation Not legally binding:

As U.S. and Iranian diplomats inched toward progress on Tehran’s nuclear program last week, Saudi Arabia quietly signed its own nuclear-cooperation agreement with South Korea.

That agreement, along with recent comments from Saudi officials and royals, is raising concerns on Capitol Hill and among U.S. allies that a deal with Iran, rather than stanching the spread of nuclear technologies, risks fueling it.

Tom Cotton told the truth and it exposed the administration’s Iran deal for what it is spoiling the media narrative. That’s bad enough but he’s also confronted his attackers head on…

…without a hint of fear or retreat.

And that’s one thing he’ll never be forgiven for.

Update:  And they certainly won’t forgive him for this:

Even as the White House ramps up pressure on Congress to stay out of its negotiations with Iran on a nuclear agreement, Republicans are on the brink of veto-proof majorities for legislation that could undercut any deal.

And that support has held up even after the uproar last week over the GOP’s letter to Iranian leaders warning against an agreement.

I suspect that the proper word is not “despite” but more like “because” as the ability to pretend this deal will prevent them from a nuke is no longer tennable.

Does that mean the left will have to change its hashtag to #67 traitors?

DaTechGuy on Barack Obama’s Inauguration Day Jan 20th 2009

In 2007 while Barack Obama was still a brand new Senator from Illinois President George Bush seeing a moment of crisis in Anbar Province in Iraq proposed a surge of troops to order to defeat the Islamists who threatened to derail the new Iraqi republic that replace the Saddam Hussein Regime.

Despite the Opposition of High level Democrats like Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi low level Democrats like Barack Obama and even some republicans like Chuck Hagel the Bush Surge took place allowing George Bush to hand to his successor an Iraq where the forces of Al Qaeda had been largely defeated.

We have now had Six years of Barack Obama where he pulled troops out of Iraq, pulled American support from allies in Egypt, watch Russia advance in Ukraine and intimidate the Eastern block countries and now this weekend our chief of homeland security told America on three networks that if you are going to the Mall of America in Minnesota

“If anyone is planning to go to the Mall of America today, they’ve got to be particularly careful,”

Think about that for a second, we went from fighting Islamic Terrorism, forcing the enemy to take on the best trained, best equipped and most effective army in the history of the world in their backyard, to the point where the head of the Department of Homeland security whose mission is to protect Americans in America is warning Americans that they have to be careful in a Mall in the United States.

Barack Obama is an abject failure whose policies have been costly to the American people but the responsibility for this failure has to be shared with that same American population who bought what he was selling not once but twice, the second time after he allowed a successful attack on Americans in Libya without attempting to stop them.

I regret to say we are getting the administration we deserve

Judge Dan Haywood: if the leaders of the Third Reich were sadistic monsters and maniacs – these events would have no more moral significance than an earthquake or other natural catastrophes. But this trial has shown that under the stress of a national crisis, men – even able and extraordinary men – can delude themselves into the commission of crimes and atrocities so vast and heinous as to stagger the imagination.

Judgement at Nuremberg 1961

Last week the President & his administration did his level best to assure us that Islam and Terror have absolutely nothing to do with each other and anyone threatening acts based on Islam is “perverting” it.

The various Imams and Muslim groups in attendance were, I’m sure, quite pleased with the assertion that neither they as Muslim clerics nor Islam in general has any responsibility for the act of other so-called “Muslims” whose matters, motivations, and even recruitment efforts in their community based on the words of the Koran bear no reflection on them and thus they do not carry any responsibility to counter these argument in their community

The press also gave their approval to these remarks reporting them extensively and uncritically even as jobs, and the west’s boring nature were blamed for the success of ISIS recruitment efforts.

In fairness it’s not just America that must be boring as Mark Steyn notes in this latest piece: O Beautiful, For Specious Guys…

On The Hugh Hewitt Show yesterday, I pointed out that the French Government estimates that some nine thousand “Frenchmen” have volunteered to fight for ISIS. That is approximately half the total western deployment in Afghanistan of around 18,000 troops from some four dozen countries. It is larger than any French military deployment in the last half-century. That 500-strong congregation of mourners for the Copenhagen killer may not be the largest funeral turnout in Denmark’s history, but it’s similarly impressive.

Who knew the Danes and the French were such boring people?

As I type this I’m sure that the various taped sunday shows are full of discussion of the President’s “Violent Extremism” summit and the allies of the White House will do their best to make sure to highlight threats from sources other than Islam.

The only problem is reality keeps getting in the way of the message

In a new video released Saturday, ISIS claims to have executed at least 21 Kurdish fighters.

The video shows the captured peshmerga fighters in cages being paraded in front of a crowd. The fighters also are interviewed in the video, which bears similarities to previous videos released by the terror organization.

And the breaking news doesn’t just involve locations far
far away:

Shoppers at the Mall of America need to be “particularly careful” after a terror group singled out the Minnesota super-mall for attacks, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson says.

He offered little reassurance to shoppers who plan to visit the mall that Al-Shabaab included on a list of targets in a video released this weekend during an interview Sunday with CNN “State of the Union” host Gloria Borger.

Nothing to see here, please disperse.

Exit question. Picture if we still only had the three networks (& CNN) providing us with news. Would the media even bother to report this stuff?

Luke Skywalker:All right, I’ll give it a try.
Yoda:No. Try not. Do… or do not. There is no try.

The Empire Strikes Back 1980

Maybe it’s just me but the entire debate concerning ISIS make no sense to me.

We have some people saying the force authorization is too broad, other saying it is too narrow.  People are trying to micromanage how war is fought.

That’s not only not how war works but it’s not how our constitution works.

Either ISIS is a threat or it is not.

Either ISIS is worth fighting or it is not.

So here is what should be done.

Congress should introduce a resolution to formally declare war on ISIS.

Then congress can either pass it or not and if it passes it goes to the president’s desk.

He can sign it or not.

Once war is declared the President can prosecute it any way he sees fit and when it’s over it’s over.

It’s just that simple.

Danish flagBy John Ruberry

Western civilization is under attack by radical Islam.

Two men were murdered yesterday in Copenhagen, Denmark in separate terror shootings, although the now-deceased killer–who as of this writing has not been named–is believed to have been the gunman in both incidents.

The first shooting occurred at the “Art, Blasphemy and the Freedom of Expression Event” held at a café in the Danish capital city. Swedish cartoonist, Lars Vilks, who drew Mohammed as a dog eight years ago, is believed to have been the intended target. Vilks was not harmed, but another man was killed–and three police officers were wounded. Later that night a Jewish man was shot to death when the assassin opened fire at a synagogue–and two other cops were wounded.

Vilks is on al Qaeda’s most-wanted list.

Needless to say, the murderer is almost certainly not a Lutheran.

The murders happened a little more than a month after the jihadists murdered 12 people at the offices of Charlie Hebdo in Paris–the magazine regularly portrayed Muhammad in  satirical cartoon form. Two days later–although a separate terrorist was responsible–four people were murdered at a kosher market in Paris.

Folks–by now a theme should be apparent.Mosque

Now what?

Well, it’s time that Western civilization stand up for itself and avoid milquetoast defenses such as the one offered yesterday by Denmark’s prime minister, “This is not a battle between Islam and the West, and it is not a battle between Muslims and non-Muslims, but a battle between the values of freedom for the individual and a dark ideology.”

Let’s look back to the 19th century when the West wasn’t rooted–if such a thing is possible–by nihilism. The practice of sati in India, when the widow would join the funeral pyre of her husband was widespread until the British decided to end it. The commander-in-chief of colonial India, Sir Charles James Napier, had this to say:

Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.

Denmark–and the rest of the West–needs to defiantly stand up and define itself to the rest of the world and also to its still small Muslim minorities living within.

There is hope. Shortly after the Charlie Hebdo murders, the Morroco-born mayor of a Netherlands city advised those who are offended by Western free expression to “pack your bags and leave.”

That’s a great idea.

UPDATE 7:00pm EST: The killer has been identified as Omar El-Hussein.

See it?
See it?

By John Ruberry

“See it
For the same reason no one ever
Pointed a telescope at the sun”
The Clash, Red Angel Dragnet.

The last 100 years can safely be placed into the following eras. World War I (1914-1918), Interwar (1918-1939), World War II (1939-1945), the Cold War (1945-1991), and the present epoch, the Age of Islamic Terror (1991-present). Certainly there were Muslim-inspired terror acts before 1991, such as the assassination of Anwar Sadat ten years earlier by an Islamist. But the Cold War was the driving international political force then.

Now Islamic terror and the rest of the world’s response to it is the global impetus of change, for good or for ill.

And what has happened since 1991? Some of the atrocities include the first World Trade Center attack, Osama bin Laden’s two jihad fatwas, al Qaeda’s African embassy bombings and its bombing of the USS Cole, 9/11, the 2002 Bali bombings, the 3/11 bombings in Madrid, Hamas’ takeover of Gaza, Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear weapon, the 7/7 bombings in London, Hezbollah’s war with Israel, the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Fort Hood, thousands of sectarian murders in Iraq and Pakistan, the Boston Marathon bombings, the rise of Boko Haram in Nigeria, Benghazi, the ascent of the Islamic State in Syria and northern Iraq, and this month’s Charlie Hebdo slaughter in Paris. This rundown reads like a listing of the theaters of conflict during the Second World War.

Sometimes radical Islamists attacks other Muslims, such as last week’s removal from office of the president of Yemen by Iranian-backed Shi’ites.

For the most part world leaders ignore or obfuscate the reality that they are living in the Age of Islamic Terror. President Obama regularly refers to Islamic terror as “violent extremism,” a term that is broad enough to include gang-bang murders on Chicago’s South Side. Great Britain’s prime minister, David Cameron, says his nation is not at war with radical Islam, countering it’s “just a huge challenge our society faces.” But the war is there. Just as the sun is there as well–even if we don’t point a telescope at it.

John Ruberry regularly blogs at Marathon Pundit.

There is a huge march today in Paris in solidarity against the Terror Attack on Charlie Hebdo.

In terms of symbolism the idea of such a march with even the PM of Israel and the head of the PLO marching with the German President, the French President, the Turkish president (but not Barack Obama) is powerful but there is one thing missing.

We have been told over and over again that the various terrorists from those who attacked Charlie Hebdo to those who hit the Jewish market to those who firebombed a German magazine who dared reprint the cartoons do not represent more than a tiny fringe of Islam. In fact we are told that all of these people from ISIS to Al Qaeda don’t understand the religion that they have been following all their lives.

Let’s for the sake of argument, rather than illustrate the folly of their argument, accept it for the moment.

If this in fact is the case then the Muslim population of France would utterly reject these actions, and to their credit there are apparently a fair amount of Muslims who have turned out for this march.

But there is one thing missing one question I would ask

Will this march go though any Muslim neighborhoods?

If the vast overwhelming number of Muslim in France in general and in Paris in particular are united in opposition to this then it would be of great symbolic value for the marchers to go through the Muslim quarter of Paris.

And if the vast majority of Muslims truly oppose these terrorist acts there would be little danger in doing this, after all such a march would not be “insulting” to anyone and the community would be more than happy to identify any real nutcase that could be a problem.

Will that happen? I’ll be watching and waiting to see.

Yesterday while the Scots were deciding to stand pat the Senate followed the House in approving funding to train the Syrian Rebels in the  campaign vs ISIS as part of the continuing resolutions to fund government.

That’s not what this bill was supposed to be.

The unwillingness of a deal to be made on spending and Harry Reid unwillingness to pass any of the normal appropriations bills were meant to protect the left.  The timing of this latest continuing resolution was designed to put the GOP in a box just before the election when it came to shutting down the government or not.  All of the left was prepared,  from the media to the smallest staffer to talk about republican irresponsibility in holding up and/or delaying checks just before it was time to vote in November.

And then ISIS got in the way.

With the Beheading of American and British citizens in a very public fashion the game had changed, suddenly instead of a debate on spending and government shutdowns to hit the GOP at election time we had a debate about war with ISIS, and not just war with ISIS but arming the Syrian rebels, a highly dubious and quite debatable proposition in itself, all for the sake of preserving protecting and defending the poll numbers of the President of the United States and his perception as a leader.

And without a stand alone declaration of war or force authorization resolution this would be the vote on war:  Do we fight or do we not?

So instead of a united Democrat party watching a divided GOP try to make a deal with their Tea Party wing putting them in a bad spot with their base you saw a vote and debate on a subject that highlighted the Democrat divisions with a base that bitterly  opposed war in Iraq when George Bush was fighting it.

It just goes to show you that plans,  however solid they seem to be when you make them,  are subject to the realities on the ground and must be modified accordingly

Let’s hope as this war begins the administration takes that reality to heart
