She can use the help and she’s not been well enough to ask you herself, and her home schooling takes all her energy.

In fact her last post in April was to ask help for another blogger

Go over there and hit her tip jar, she’s fighting for her health and her cable bill.

And most important pray for her and her own family.

I got off the phone with Zilla this morning. Her medical situation remains iffy with a cacophony of issues that might mean the end of her, but also might slowly improve and the Doctor’s finally get a grasp of what is happening and coordinate properly.

The question remains if the wrong medications and the meds she was allergic to can get our of her system safely so things can get back on the right track. Your prayers to that effect are still encouraged and welcomed.

I’m pleased to say that as a practical matter her impending financial disaster concerning internet phone and more have been alleviate thanks to the generous help of all of you who kicked in taking commentator Mr. Chuck’s advice to act rather than just pray.

Zilla herself is not well enough to post or blog and I don’t have access to the lists of those who kicked in but to all of you and to all on the various e-mail lists who spread the word she offers her heartfelt thanks and as she is my friend I give mine as well.

Additionally since the Kimberlin crowd were also giving her grief your gift likely annoyed them further, always a worthwhile cause.

One final thing. On Doug’s post at Zilla’s site he accidentally labeled a picture of the late Amusing Bruni as Zilla. Zilla doesn’t want to misrepresent herself so here is a picture I took two years ago or so when I visited her in the Hospital.

I’ll confess it’s a less flattering picture than the other one but the Fedora looks great on her.

I got a an e-mail from a friend concerning Zilla Stevenson that says in part:

I spent about an hour on the phone with Mare yesterday because she has been so ill and in/out of the hospital all week.
Several things struck me about her situation (which is dire), among them:
Her laptop is broken (it got terminally damaged during the 2 Million Bikers to DC rally)
Her phone/internet/tv will be disconnected Monday or Tuesday.
Her electricity will be shut off this week as well.

And none of this even talks about the medical issues that have plagued her for years.

To read such a think is to feel rather guilty for worrying about a couple of bad weeks for DaTipJar.

Things are tough over here but Zilla needs your help a lot more than I do.

If you can click here and help her out even with a few dollars, it would make a huge difference for her.

And if you can’t afford even a few dollars throw some prayers, because those prayers will help enable those who can.

I talked to the Zilla and there finally seems to be some bright lights in the long-term, if she can just have the time to recover things will happen and that will in turn change things.

All we have to do is get her there.

For those who are new to this web site I have a weekly column that I write for several other sites, The Minority Report, Zilla of the Resistance, The Necropolitan Sentinel, Conservatively Speaking and the North American Conservative Bloggers United called Under the Fedora. The latest is now up, a peek:

One of the characteristics of Arab democracy, Islamic or no , has been danger to the Christian community.   Christians have been fleeing for their lives in droves.  This has produced an interesting side effect in Israel, Christian Arabs openly and proudly joining the Israeli defense forces:

Khaloul said that until now, many in the community had been too afraid to speak out, but that was going to change. Many are now even referring to themselves openly as “Israeli Christians.”

Ali, an organizer for the forum, noted that local Arabs see what is happening across the Middle East and realize that Israel is the only place in the region where Christians can feel safe and belong. “That’s why more and more of us are realizing that there is no other country here that is worth fighting for,” he added.

Arab Christians have resisted siding with Israel for three generations.  It really speaks to the current crop of Islamists that they could produce such a result.

You can find the whole thing here and check it out on all those sites each week.

I’m sitting right now in the Fishkill offices of Congresswomen Nan Hayworth waiting to hear back from campaign officials concerning her race here in NY-18.

Oddly enough I stayed at the local Days Inn under a mile from here

Thanks for the bed oh Tip Jar hitters

but when I found out Zilla of the Resistance who I hoped to visit with was in a local hospital I decided to swing up first to see her and how she is doing.

Zilla and her reader provided portable nebulizer

This was a bit of a shock to me but not as much of a shock to those who have falsely claimed that Zilla either was not sick or not even a woman

You know I’m always hoping for a tip jar hit (and I’ll ask for one below) but if you can only afford to give to one of us, I think Zilla could use it more.

From the Hospital I headed back to Fishkill and saw the Hayworth Office where they staff kindly allowed me some space to work:

and a little bit of Hayworth swag

As a rule I don’t take yard signs as they are most valuable in the district.

Hayworth’s district is small compared to some of the large one farther north:

But the fight is just as tough, the left has predictably been using their standard “War on Women” lines, the fact that Nan Hayworth is not only a woman but a medical doctor doesn’t seem to have caused any kind of ripple in this nonsense. It certainly doesn’t seem to faze the overwhelmingly female staff that I met in the office.

There is however a real interesting issue concerning this race. Nan’s opponent Sean Maloney who apparently is looking for a spot in the group Manhattan Transfer since he has done is best to try to convince the voters of the district that he has transferred himself to this district from Manhattan, but two days ago during the Debate on Tuesday bragged about being involved in a company that created 100’s of jobs.

It is an effort to change the complexion of a race that RCP has +7 for Hayworth at the moment but I suspect this boast might have costs as apparently this company has more to it than meets the eye, in fact it has more to it that some folks on the left might not want in front of the voters eyes…but that for my next post.

Let me leave you with this thought

Re-Elect Nan Hayworth to Congress in NY 18

Because you can’t have too many Republican Women Doctors in Washington

The only “war on women” is by the left against people like Nan who won’t blindly follow their lead. You can kick into her campaign here.

Remember this coverage is made possible by you. If you’d like to help pay for this trip and move that thermometer feel free to hit DaTipJar below and keep the gas in the car a few meals and a hotel room for at least one night.

Update: Dan Riehl is ill too, my best to him.

Arrived in Fishkill and gave a call to Zilla of the Resistance to say I was somewhere in the area, talked to her husband and found out she is in the hospital, called her there and she sounded awful. I’ll stop by in the morning as visiting hours are done, I’m sure Nan Hayworth’s HQ in the area will still be there afterwards. (I wonder what the people who say Zilla isn’t real or isn’t sick will say about that?)

Please consider hitting her tip jar and saying a prayer for her.

As for the trip I’ve got a pretty decent wi-fi so I was Finally able to upload this very good interview with a MaMahon Supporter from my first stop

After I stopped at the McDonalds The Ray Kroc Memorial Media Center where I I took this picture…

…of a lady of the left who hoped my prediction for the election was incorrect I headed to another McMahon Office in Torrington CT where I found one other McMahon Satellite office.

Although I was pleased to find the office of congressional candidate Andrew Roraback next door and the office of the local GOP there in the same block

I found the Much cooler Jeff’s records and collectible with an incredible selection of classic vinyl

but more on that later. At the McMahon HQ I noticed an inordinate amount of young people working in the office on the phone, a good sign for the campaign.

However I still couldn’t get permission to talk to anyone officially.

At the Roraback office they were tied up in a meeting so I shot some swag

and waited, when one of the ladies from the GOP office came by, she consented to an interview so I went down to her office and talked to her

She is exactly the type of person you need to make a campaign succeed a person deep into the grass-roots who gives a ton of her time.

I returned briefly to the Roraback office and managed to meet the candidate.

He deserves more attention that I can give him in this post from there I headed off to NY finally stopping in Fishkill just south of Poughkeepsie where I met Rob.

Rob In college majoring in Social Work going for master, he’s working full-time ( I won’t say where) while studying, so he’s definitely in touch with how to get ahead.

He’s a social liberal supporting Gay marriage and “equal pay” (I put that in quotes because that has been the law for two generations how the left managed to sell it otherwise is beyond me). Although he has not been shy about working hard to get his education he doesn’t think students should have to do all they do to acquire it. As he put it:

“Why should I have to go bankrupt to get an education?”

Yet Rob has been sensible, he put in two years in a community college to cut costs and transferring over.

He thinks the mess we’ve been in was not fixable in four years but looks at the economy figuring things could be worse, no matter who wins eventually the economy will turn around. He has faith in the he put it:

“The United States has a history of achieving the impossible.”

Although we didn’t agree on a lot I certainly agree with that.

So now it’s 11:26 and I’m about to crash, tomorrow we’ll visit Zilla then it’s off to check out NY congressional races. Will Romney take the GOP freshmen over the line with him, lets find out in the morning and beyond.

No I’m not talking about my furnace woes, I’m referring to Zilla of the Resistance friend’s 4 children now orphaned after a horrific Murder suicide:

Sherry’s children are now orphans, and they will have to live with the horror of what happened forever. The kids are being cared for by relatives now, and a trust fund has been set up to help them. What has happened to these kids is beyond what anyone should ever have to endure. The relatives who are grieving for Sherry are now the guardians of four severely traumatized kids and will be dealing with the consequences of this real life nightmare for many years to come; you can help to at least alleviate one burden for them – money – by contributing any amount you can spare to the address below:

The Hayes Children Trust

P.O. Box 644

North Bellmore NY 11710

Please lift this family up in your prayers along with all of Sherry’s friends who are mourning their beloved friend

If you can help it would be a good thing. It certainly beats helping fund a trip to RIO for bureaucrats.

Update: Totally forgot the link to the full story, now in

…for finishing first in the Top 25 Political Mom’s Pol at the Circle of Mom’s site here.

My congratulations also to friends of mine such as Pam at Atlas Shrugs, Katy at Katy’s conservative corner, Zilla of the Resistance who all finished in the top 20.

And I would urge my readers to go bookmark two friends of mine who didn’t make the top 25 (at least not this time) Lady Liberty1885 and the totally misnamed No One of any import. You won’t regret it.

Oh and my thanks to our friends on the left who as usual are living down to my ever lower expectations for them.

The uncivil progressives aren’t satisfied with simply leaving negative comments on this site. Now they’ve taken my email address and signed me up for all sorts of interesting reading. Most children aren’t this petty and immature.

Contrast this with my commentator from the Left Foible or my friendly “enemy” Chris from Center of Mass. If only the left had more guys like them who can disagree without being disagreeable.
