Lately I’ve been missing large chunks of Morning Joe due to Morning Mass but today I’ve been scanning the channels looking for the John Lewis Story on any of the Morning Shows.
I went to ABC, CBS, NBC in the 7 a.m. hour, I checked CNN and I started watching Morning Joe at 6:16. John Lewis? Not a word, is he Jerry’s kid brother?
To remind everyone who only gets their news from the left, over the weekend at the Occupy Atlanta protests the crowd refused to let Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis speak declaring: “He’s no better than anyone else”.
NOTE: I missed the first 15 minutes of Morning Joe today but I went back at 8 a.m. when it repeated, they quoted John Lewis saying the protests: “Reminded him of the civil rights movement” but somehow didn’t find “occupy Atlanta”‘s refusal to let him speak newsworthy.
Now if my wife and I were still in Maine with no laptop and the MSM as my only source of news, I would have no idea that this ever happened, nor would I know about GOP political consultant Ali Akbar’s invitation to Mr. Lewis to speak at a tea party event. Take a look at the Memeorandum thread that opened up after the Sunday shows:
Look at the links, not a single blog on the left has a problem with a predominantly white crowd insulting a 14 term congressman and civil rights icon with video to back it up. update the Crawdad Hole writes to say they are a blog of the left that doesn’t support the current Democratic party
The Crawdad Hole asks what they would have done if it had been a Tea Party, (even without video)? They don’t have to ask, we saw it with the false “Tea Party” incident leading on every network and the ignoring of Breitbart’s $100k challenge. In fact today Morning Joe played a clip of Nancy Pelosi repeating that same Tea Party canard.
OK so if the John Lewis story wasn’t news what did the MSM decide was the story of the week, with unemployment at 9.1% and leftist protesters going naked in SF and defecating on police cars in NY. What was the burning issue that had to be addressed:
Are Mormons Christians and do the GOP candidates think so?
Yup; THAT is the burning issue sweeping the nation. So this morning on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC the whole question of the remarks of Robert Jeffres at the Value Voters Summit was the only issue that matters. All of them went long on it. Morning Joe hit it both hours and attacked Herman Cain and Michelle Bachmann for having the temerity to suggest that they aren’t running for theologian in chief.
Our betters in the elite beltway media beat their breasts shocked and dismayed that a group of American might choose to reject Mitt Romney based on his religion (as opposed to his constant flip-flops, Romney Care etc etc etc…) but in their self-righteous outrage I seemed to recall something they don’t.
During the proposition 8 campaign and its aftermath the Mormon Church was constantly attacked by the left, the media and gay activists for their opposition to Gay Marriage. That same media lionized the comedy “The Book of Mormon” that pokes fun at the religion and have had little outrage over TV shows that made fun of Mormons and their beliefs.
For some reason I don’t seem to recall their outrage then.
I agree with them and Bill Bennett that Mitt Romney’s religion should not be a cause to oppose him but I submit that there will be a whole lot more people on the left who will summarily reject a Mormon candidate due to religion than on the right.
I further question the news judgement of the most theologically ignorant segment in the nation, they couldn’t explain what Catholics believe with the Pope coaching them let alone Mormons, in their decision to consider this story more significant than the snubbing of John Lewis by the Occupyeverwhere people.
Finally I suggest that even though the MSM is not talking about the John Lewis incident, the Black Community is, via facebook , via twitter and via all kinds of social and black media. Black Americans have noticed the snubbing of Lewis and I’ll wager they’ll also notice the MSM rushing to embrace the “occupy everywhere protests” that did it.
They will not forget.
Update: Not just an instalanche but a HEH! Now
Update 2: If by some miracle you missed the video here it is:
BTW on an unrelated issue with Sarah Palin not running, my vote is available. I’m issuing an open invitation to supporters of any GOP candidate (or the candidates themselves) to call my show Saturday at 10 a.m. EST 888-9-fedora to make their your case to win my vote.
Update 3: BTW don’t forget my bi-weekly column at the Conservatory Under the Fedora
Update 4: The Crawdad hole sends this correction:
The Crawdad Hole is a lefty blog. We are former Hillary Clinton supporters who do not support Barack Obama or the current Democratic party.
Update 5: Terrorists, Smearaoists who cares about Occupy Boston lending support to an Al Qaeda terrorist when the Mormon question remains unanswered!
