The Buried Lede from my Ted Cruz Interview everyone Missed

There was a real piece of news in my Ted Cruz interview this weekend that I expected to get some play over the nation. I was frankly rather shocked to discover nobody picked up on. News this is going to make a huge difference as the election gets closer.

My last question was on his state by state campaign asking if he would be on the ballot in all 50 states. He talked about being all in , the only campaign with announced country chair in every county in the first four states and talked about having donors in roughly 58% of the zip codes of America with an avg of $73 per donation, but the real news were the donors he calls “sustainers”

“I’ll give you one quick indication. We have people all over the country who gone to tedcruz.org and in particular have signed up to a program we call “sustainers” we’ve about 6000 sustainers in the country who have signed up to contribute every month on a reoccurring credit card donation.”

And because the contribution limit is $2600 for an individual even if these people are giving up to $200 a month none of them will hit contribution limits before the primaries are over.

“Here’s the amazing thing on that, Our sustainers are proving all of the funds for our grass roots team in NH, in Iowa, in South Carolina in Nevada and in 20 March primary states. Our entire ground staff, our rent, our staff our grass roots is funded automatically from 6000 sustainers giving every month from the grass roots. That’s the potency of it, it is enormous”

Think about that for a second. As of this moment  In 24 out of the first 30 caucus/primary states Ted Cruz Doesn’t have to worry about paying his staff his rent or his ground people because it’s being paid for automatically every month by those 6000 donors likely with no fear of hitting donor limits.

Don’t forget we are in October, all of those primaries are still 4 – 5 months away. Ted Cruz already has a ground game going in just about all of them getting him on the ballot and making his against the GOP establishment. How many of those other campaigns are even in a position to think about states beyond South Carolina let alone cover the cost of a ground game?

Thanks to the media’s obsession with Donald Trump, Their highlights of Bush vs Trump, their attacks on Ben Carson and their flirtations with Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina and hasn’t figured out just how strong a candidate Ted Cruz is.

I strongly suspect as time goes by they are going to get a real education to their and the Establishment’s horror and the delight of Conservatives.

Except for George w bush who apparently is a lot smarter than people ever realized:

Inside a sleek Denver condominium, George W. Bush let a hundred donors to his brother’s campaign in on a secret. Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, whom he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination.

It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support.

It’s George W. Bush’s former employee — Ted Cruz.

The guy won two national elections, he can see what’s going on.

I do all of this in a 17 year old car with 130,000 miles on it, a $100 camera and some batteries. The only pay I get for this work comes from you. My goal for all of 2015 is $22,000.

That’s a lot less than the millions that Senator Cruz has raised but I don’t have 300K donors

However if just 300 people kicked in 100 bucks I’d have my goal for the year covered my current debts paid and might even be able to get on the road out of the state to cover other events.

If you think that’s worth while please consider hitting DaTipJar below.
