They Want to Make Him Pay

by baldilocks

President Trump made an offer which the Democrats rejected before the speech was even given.

Who could have seen that coming? Yes, that’s sarcasm.

If the Democrats had done anything other than that, they would have to give up their greatest dream:

Since Trump’s election, the dream uniting all Democrats is to impeach the president. Having won the House and with a mere majority necessary to initiate Articles of Impeachment, that dream will finally come true – never mind that chances of conviction in the Senate are near nil, with 67 votes required to sustain and Republicans still in the majority. They will impeach because, as with the scorpion, it’s their nature.

It doesn’t matter that after more than two years of investigation, President Trump has not been found to have committed any crime. Impeachment is not a criminal proceeding; it is a political proceeding, and in the “People’s House,” the majority decides what constitutes “High Crimes and Misdemeanors.” (…)

It is said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller, whose improper appointment also started an investigation in search of a crime, will soon release his report and that it will be less than revelatory. This will put the onus on congressional Democrats to rid the nation of the meddlesome orange tweeter.

It’s certain that the president also knew beforehand that his offer would be rejected. He and millions of other Americans know that any inch given by the Democrats will result in President Trump taking a mile, pretty much without even trying too hard – as we saw in the last few days in the case of the dueling letters.

Why is this so? Because it will take something drastic to make the Democrats stop trying to make Donald Trump pay for beating Hillary Clinton to the Oval Office.

Personally, I don’t think impeachment will even ruffle the president’s famous hair. He seems to thrive on adversity.

What I do think is that, if the Democrats fail –- which is likely, given the composition of the senate –- they will try something even more outrageous … and dangerous. And they couldn’t care less about the chaos that would be unleashed on this country.

That’s what happens when a party believes it always deserves to get what it wants.
