About 30 minutes ago I came home from work and as I don’t own a cell phone or have an internet connection at work went to the net to see what was up. Given what we’ve seen over the last two months there’s not very much that can surprise me but this via Lifesite and Citizen Free Press did:

Activist Milo Yiannopoulos is now ‘Ex-Gay,’ consecrating his life to St. Joseph

‘Secular attempts at recovery from sin are either temporary or completely ineffective. Salvation can only be achieved through devotion to Christ and the works of the Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.’

The interview that followed tells the story and like all such stories is one of ups and downs:

My own life has changed dramatically, though it crept up on me while I wasn’t paying attention. I’m someone who responds to micromanagement and accountability, so I’ve found counting days an effective bulwark against sin. In the last 250 days I’ve only slipped once, which is a lot better than I predicted I would do.

It feels as though a veil has been lifted in my house — like there’s something more real and honest going on than before. It’s been a gradual uncovering, rather than a dramatic reveal.

This is not going to be easy although he is likely to get an awful lot of support from actual faithful Catholics and a ton of hate from not only the intolerant left but from the various: “Catholics for Mortal Sin” groups, not to mention being targeted by Satan. It’s not going to be an easy time. he’s likely going to stumble more than once, which is what the sacrament of confession is for and will undoubtedly have every failure he experiences during this time trumpeted and highlighted by the media and their pals.

If he manages to persevere he will undoubtedly be reviled boycotted and excoriated by the media, academia, the Hollywood and secular left till the day he dies.

However After that I guarantee he will not be alone.

Pray for him.
