FYI: Both DaWife and I are under quarantine pending the results of her COVID test and this means we’re missing days of work and our sick and vacation time is exhausted. If you’re in a position to hit DaTipJar and have demurred before now is the time when it would help most.
Lt. Columbo:Mrs. Williams, you have no conscience and that’s your weakness. Did it ever occur to you that there are very few people who would take money to forget about a murder? It didn’t did it? I knew it wouldn’t. No conscience, limits your imagination. You can’t conceive of anybody being any different than what you are, and you’re greedy, and that’s why, as bright as you are, and you’re bright, you believed that Margaret could be bought.
Columbo: Ransom for a Dead man 1971
Last night Jeff Sessions was defeated in a primary runoff in an attempt to reclaim the Senate Seat he abandoned to become the Attorney General of the US.
If Sessions had won I would have had no problem supporting him and despite the animosity between him and the president I have absolutely no doubt he would put that aside to support his programs and his judges for the sake of his state of Alabama and the country as a whole.
Sessions opponent in the runoff Tommy Tuberville who had the president’s support. Sessions lost that support due to his action of recusing himself during the start of the Russia investigation. Unbeknownst to him this would lead to an incredible witch hunt that took up a lot of time and resources of this administration thanks to the tireless efforts of his deputy who was frankly working against the administration from the start. This mistake, while honest, was disastrous for the administration and the country.
Being an honorable man, raised honorably, doing honorable service as a judge and in government he presumed that he he recused himself as his honor demanded that his deputy would act in the same good faith that he did. He could not conceive that a lifelong public servant who had been in government for decades would do otherwise in an attempt to undermine the administration. Nor could he conceive that the FBI and the Obama administration might actually act in the way so destructive to the American Republic for the sake of political advantage.
Sessions is a good man and an honorable man and if we were dealing with the Democrat party of even 10 years ago he might have been a useful member of the Trump Administration. However because he didn’t recognize reality as it was he was able to be taken advantage of.
Given the new realities I suspect his defeat is not a bad thing, but I long for the days when the Democrats and the deep state once again are sane and honorable enough to be trusted thus allowing a Jeff Sessions to be able to function as per his wont. Just as I long for the days when the left respected free speech, loved America and was not controlled by a Marxist mob.
However I suspect that these days will not be coming back anytime soon.
Today at 3 PM EST comes the lastest DaTechGuy off DaRadio Podcast livestream (right after rush). On our podcast today we will talk about:
The firing of a tenured Dean at Umass Lowell Nursing department for stating in writing that all lives matter
The Parable of the Woke Pharisee Protesters and the humble historian
What we’ve learned over the last month
What our new civil war will look like
We will discuss these things, and whatever else tickles my fancy at 3 PM EST. You can watch the podcast live here
Incidentally I’ve reached out to UMass Lowell for comment with a 2:30 deadline. They sent me this statement:
“Leslie Neal-Boylan’s employment at UMass Lowell ended on June 19, after she was informed she would no longer serve as dean of the Solomont School of Nursing. She had been in that role for 10 months. Although a tenured full faculty member, she declined to join the nursing faculty. As with all such employment decisions, it was made in the best interests of the university and its students. Although we are not able to discuss specifics of a personnel matter, it would be incorrect to assume any statement by Dr. Neal-Boylan was the cause of that decision.”
I followed up asking two questions:
Is it the position of the Nursing Department of UMASS Lowell that all lives matter
Are the nursing students being taught by the nursing department at UMASS Lowell that all lives in their care matter?
I keep seeing this poll and that poll that the Democrats are thinking of replacing Joe Biden on the ticket for the nomination. This entire argument reminds me of the great debate on sports radio locally concerning the New England Patriots and 2nd year quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
Stidham was drafted last year as Tom Brady’s quarterback backup and once Brady signed with Tampa Bay, there was speculation that New England would sign one of the available QB’s out there from Cam Newton Jameis Winston or even trade up in the draft in the hopes of getting a new QB this year.
But Bill Belichick decided to stand pat. After all he had struck paydirt with a 6th round pick who turned out to be the greatest QB of all time, and two of his recent QB drafts had started for the Colts and 49ers last year so my not go with the young arm?
But the real question to me come down to: “How much better would the Patriots be in 2020 with an expensive free agent who would have to learn the system that Stidham has been training in for a year?”
I suspect the answer is, not much if at all.
And that brings us to Joe Biden.
There are plenty of reasons why it would be tough for Democrats to pull Biden post Tara Reade:
Overturning a series of elections
Upsetting vital black voters who turned out in force for Biden
Causing a divided convention
Risking an un-vetted nominee or worse Bernie Sanders
In my 30 tips to stay married 30 years series (expanded to 32 tip 30 will be up later this week) that will eventually be a book I talk about the difference between something worth a fight (Do we move across the country?) and something not (Do you buy Tide or Gain to do the laundry?). Basically this bit of advice is about making sure that if you are going to risk something as valuable as your marriage you’d better be damn well sure that the reward is something critical.
This is advice that the press really could have used in the Trump era when it comes to their credibility.
Don’t get me wrong, for decades the press has been a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat left, and they have had unofficial rules in place to make sure that stories that favor the left were advanced and stories that favored the right died or were “local” (see Friday’s DaTechGuy’s Laws of Media outrage or that tag on the site for details of said rules).
Even so the media for a while , would still cover the odd Democrat scandal (perhaps mentioning the party in paragraph 8 or “accidentally” referring to the perp as a republican then correcting it later after the story had already played or allow a local subsidiary of a network to critically examine the left or would avoid pushing a narrative past the point of credulity.
This dramatically changed around the time of Barack Obama’s election, in fact one might say it changed dramatically when John McCain picked Sarah Palin as his running mate.
As soon as this happened the media went all in. The thought of a young attractive woman governor on the GOP ticket with a knack for campaigning, speech making and a populist streak was too big a danger to be ignored, particularly when for a short time after that pick McCain managed to pull ahead of Obama. No tactic was too low, no charge too outrageous and no boundary of propriety was left unviolated.
This was at the same time that the Rev Jeremiah Wright was being memory holed.
During the Obama years it was again all in, No action of Obama’s was to be critiqued, no scandal to be examined (the idea of it being a “scandal free administration was pretty much that they were free to behave scandalously without fear” It got worse with the rise of the tea party and when our Embassy were hit and our people killed in Benghazi they attacked Mitt Romney the GOP candidate for commenting on it rather than the President who left people to die. More and more the media seemed willing to drop it’s mask of “objectivity”
But even this was paled by their reaction during the 2016 campaign when Clinton was propped up and Trump was 1st uplifted when they thought he would hurt the Republicans and then excoriated when he won the nomination. The media didn’t bother to pretend it didn’t take sides and some journalists openly declared that it was time to do so.
Unfortunately for the Donald Trump comes from the Jacksonian school and rather than play nice publicly and repeatedly called them out it. They were made a laughing stock to the point where trust in the media is about as low as you can get.
Which brings us to the Tara Reade situation.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Tara Reade case isn’t going away and that unlike the false accusations against Judge (now Justice Kavanaugh) the passage of time has produced more corroborating rather then exculpatory evidence.
If the media had the credibility it had in 1970, 1985, 2000 or even 2007, this would be the time when it could save the day for the Democrats. They could have taken apart the Reade story early or dismiss it as overblown. After all this is 27 years ago and they could (rightly) stress what would and would not stand up in a court of law. They could have used their ability to control the narrative to highlight every single exculpatory fact to make sure it was dismissed as a one day or at worst a one week story claiming there was nothing to see here.
Alas for the media and the Democrats, they threw away what was left of their credibility on Russia Hoaxes, Creepy Porn Lawyers and Crazies pounding on the doors of the Supreme Court, and with that credibility went their ability to kill this story.
Many years ago in the days before setup men and closer an elderly Ty Cobb gave a young pitcher advice to save his stuff for key moments of a game rather than pitch himself out when their was no need.
I’ll bet the MSM wished someone had given them that advice three years ago.
Today’s podcast talks about the incredible coincidence of an episode of Larry King from 20 years ago that the MRC found with corroborating evidence of Tara Reade’s accusation vs Joe Biden that was abruptly pulled from Googleplay.
It’s time for the lastest edition of DaTechGuy’s Friday Morning Court now permanently moved to 9:30 AM EST on Friday’s
MSM Reade or not?
Trump the Man with an Opening Plan

On Easter Sunday my son put on a video of the Internet comedian JonTron with his latest takedown of Gwenith Paltrow and her Goop people.
It was a hilarious takedown of what’s pretty much a bunch of people being grifted. There is a reason why he has 6.6 mil followers
The funniest thing about this? I’ll wager the vast majority of the people featured in this video would consider belief in Christianity foolishness.
Speaking of Christianity there was a great piece at Hillfaith linked by Instapundit with six proofs of the resurrection several of which I never thought of such as
The first witnesses to the empty tomb and the living Jesus were women: It’s a sad reality, but women only counted as half as reliable witnesses as men. So the fact all four of the Gospels present women as the first witnesses to the Risen Jesus is a strong indicator Matthew, Mark, Luke and John reported the facts, not what they thought would be the most credible claims
I should have thought of this myself but my favorite proof of the accuracy of scripture is one I used many years ago at my 1st personal blog:
Now lets look at the evidence. I am going to lean on Will Durant:
He first cites Josephus circa 93 AD and points out that the praise given to Jesus by a person out to please both Jews and Romans is a tad suspect but the big gun comes from a 1st man named Thallus.
Lets Jump to the Gospel of Matthew briefly:
From noon onward, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And about three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Some of the bystanders who heard it said, “This one is calling for Elijah.” Immediately one of them ran to get a sponge; he soaked it in wine, and putting it on a reed, gave it to him to drink. But the rest said, “Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to save him.” But Jesus cried out again in a loud voice, and gave up his spirit. Matt 27:45-50
Now Thallus the pagan isn’t going to put up with this. About 50 AD he states that the darkness is a purely natural phenomenon and just a coincidence.
Durant put this argument in its modern perspective:
the argument took the existence of Christ for granted. The denial of that existence seems never to have occurred even to the bitterest gentile or Jewish opponents of nascent Christianity.
And remember that particular fragment to the best of our knowledge predates the Gospel of Matthew that it unintentionally collaborates by two decades. The pagan provides the proof. Talk about working in mysterious ways.
You should really read the whole thing;
There are many candidates for some of the lamest arguments on twitter but this one is big
For 17 years, the Republicans and many Democrats insisted on spending trillions of dollars on fighting a ‘war on terror’, supposedly, to save American lives. Turns out they never really cared about protecting American lives, but just wanted to bomb brown people in faraway lands.
Of course there is the possibility that this is a lab virus released accidentally in that case there is a murder to be upset at, but I’m sure he’d consider that racist.
As I mentioned during my midnight livestream podcast (available here) had a lot of fun with people insisting that Trump is a fool and this corona virus conferences are hurting him who are oddly not willing to bet $500 bucks and give me points to back up their beliefs. Apparently “experts” and those who don’t even like try know why:
Wallace noted, “In all of our [Fox News] polls for months, Biden had an 8-9 point lead, and that’s now gone. It’s dead even.” He continued:
It seems to me as this virus goes on, that instead of this being a choice between the president and Joe Biden, as a lot of elections are, I think that this election is going to end up being a referendum on President Trump and the handling of the coronavirus.
As we get into September and October after Labor Day, I think people are going to make a judgment, and they’ll understand, the president didn’t create the virus, so I think they’re going to be fair-minded about it. Do they think he handled the health crisis well? Do they think he handled the economic crisis well?
If they do, I don’t see how he gets beat. If they don’t, I don’t see how he could win.
And that’s not even taking into account that the polls have been undercounting Trump supporters from day 1
Around 400 people were at a party at an East Bakersfield apartment complex when dozens of shots rang out, wounding six people early Saturday morning, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
Based on evidenced recovered at the scene, KCSO says, it appears at least one partygoer fired back at the suspects in a white sedan that fled the scene. Officials said nearly 100 empty shell casings of multiple calibers were recovered at the scene in the 3500 block of Pioneer Drive.
Even at a time of social distancing 400 at a party in an apartment complex is a lot. You would think that a story like this during social distancing time would be front page news everywhere but I suspect it will not be because of this line:
The suspects were only described by deputies as four black males, in a white sedan.
Now I could be wrong, we might see this as a lead everywhere and see the Governor of California condemn the lack of social distancing here, but I suspect I’d have a harder time finding a taker for a $10 bet on this than I have for the Biden election one.
