The Realties of Portland, Sodomy, Media, Lemon and Sen Whitehouse Under the Fedora.

Yesterday I talked about the ads that Ted Wheeler ran in the NYT about coming to Portland and noting that times readers just might be dumb enough to buy what he’s selling.

But the LPGA isn’t:

The LPGA moved the Portland Classic to a suburb for the first time in 50 years due to safety concerns in the city.

The event usually takes place at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Northeast Portland.

Reality doesn’t care what the left’s meme of the day is.

Speaking of reality Joy Behar is apparently in trouble for making a joke about the reality of what being “Gay” is and I don’t see what the problem is myself:

I thought this entire month was supposed to be dedicated to how wonderful Sodomy is and how proud we are supposed to be of those who practice it and that anyone who thinks otherwise is a bigot. Why it’s almost as if reminding people what it actually is and actually entails might actually cause them to have a viscreal reaction that could change their mind about it.

It reminded me of when years ago the left did all they could to keep a broadcast of an abortion off the air because it’s hard to sell the idea that a baby isn’t a baby at 14 weeks when you see it dismembered.

Speaking of reality the left has done all it can to keep the American people in a liberal echo chamber but something jumped out from citizen free press which is a spot I visit daily for news:

The earliest date I could find for Citizen Free Press in the Wayback Machine was June 3rd of 2017 which means in that in four years they have outstripped ABC, NBC & the LA times and is on the verge of passing the Hill in monthly page views to break into the top 10 on this list. That’s without any cross promotion from any major media which does all it can to suppress what they cover.

The echo chamber may resonate but the reality is that millions every month are getting the information they are trying to suppress and the more the MSM remains an echo chamber the more likely alternate sites like Citizen free press will be sought out and grow.

Speaking of reality we keep hearing about how racist America is from places like CNN in general and from people like Don Lemon in particular to wit:

Lemon declared in a recent Washington Post interview that former President Donald Trump was “the necessary wake-up for America to realize just how racist it is.” Lemon, who recently penned a book, “This Is the Fire: What I Say to My Friends About Racism,” fancies himself an authority on the subject.

It will come as no surprise however that he chooses to live in a town that is 3% black far away from the the various black lives matters protest that he has supported over the last several years and the violence of the communities that he downplays. I suspect that’s because reality doesn’t care about the rhetoric from a millionaire who talks about being oppressed when it comes to black lives mattering he’s referring to his own.

Finally I’m got a message for the American Thinker who used the title Sheldon Whitehouse has a racism problem. He does not. Yeah he’s a racist but it’s not a problem at least not for him. Anyone on the right who thinks that the Sheldon Whitehouse story is going to generate any outrage or traction from the left is fooling themselves.

Think for a second, if they didn’t follow thorough on Ralph “Blackface” Northam if it risked an election in Virginia and had no problem putting congressman Eric Swalwell back on the intelligence committee in the house when he’s banging a Chinese Spy what on earth would make anyone think that the left/media/democrat complex would say boo to Sheldon Whitehouse when he is the 50th vote for them in the Senate

The reality is that Marxists are always about power, ALWAYS.

Cancel culture coming for the Church

Our Lady of Guadalupe, with distinctly non-white features, from Wikipedia

This past week we saw two very different responses to Shaun King, a self-proclaimed activist that called on images and statues that showed Jesus depicted as a white European to be taken down. On its face, that sounds legitimate because if Jesus came from the Levant, in all reality he would likely be more tan or brown color. It might make it appear that the Catholic Church was whitewashing Jesus.

Except its not hard to see past this. I’ve traveled a fair amount, and every Catholic Mass I attend overseas, I noticed that the statue depictions are different. Jesus in Turkey was more brown. Jesus in Ethiopia is black. The Blessed Mother appeared in Guadalupe with distinctly Mexican features. And so on. It only takes a brief pause from your cat videos to Google “Jesus around the world” to see this first hand. The fact that Jesus and his Blessed Mother take on the various characteristics of the local population is amazing to me. We have a truly universal Church. It really is for everyone, no matter your skin color.

(And as an aside, if he was a carpenter, he was probably ripped and muscular from working all day, and could have run a Crossfit gym)

Sadly, this is the first part of linking the Catholic Church to slavery. Already, there is vandalism on the Wikipedia page about the Church and African Americans. Already we have people linking vague actions by the Church, such as this article, to racism:

“The way the church would sustain or enable racism would be through the acts of the people who make it up,” he told Catholic News Service. “But the actions of all of those people are deeply influenced and shaped by social, political, and economic structures they inhabit.

“Many of them would not perceive their actions as enabling racism, but if they accept the structures uncritically, they are doing that, and they inhibit the church from realizing the full impact or engagement of its social teaching.”

The Boston Pilot

So, pray tell, what are we supposed to do with the above information? Feed the poor? Educate people? Help people find jobs? The Church already does these things! Has the author not looked at a Church bulletin lately? There is a ministry for all these things and more, limited only by people’s imagination and time.

As said before, the best strategy with people like this is to push back. Folks like Shaun King won’t stop with their demands, they are simply looking for weakness to exploit. I give Bishop Hying props for standing up to this mob, where he accepts that we need to have dialog and action while rejecting calls for destruction. Compare this with the Archbishop of Canterbury, who is now “reassessing” depictions of Jesus as white.

No matter what the Anglican Church does, someone in the mob will find it as not enough and will call for further action. Mobs don’t stop. When they find weakness, they push harder. Pushing back forces them to stop. The Anglican Church isn’t going to get a break, and they are going to learn this rule, unfortunately, the hard way.

We live in a democracy, but if aren’t willing to enforce its rules, we’ll soon live in a mob state.

One Point that Ed AND Stacy Missed in this Piece on Racism in the Climate Change Movement

A few days Ago Stacy McCain noted that the real news in this piece linked by Ed Driscoll was the Communist insurgency and death squads in the Philippines where things were so bad the people voted for someone who would wipe them out using extralegal methods.

Now all of this is important but I want to note one other point that is being missed here:

As Sherwood-O’Regan said, “As we grow and climate change becomes a harsher reality, privileged activists need to learn to de-centre themselves and meaningfully support Indigenous, disabled, queer, global south, POC, and other marginalized people who are on the frontlines

That these activists are a bunch of privileged bigots is not a big surprise because you’re basically dealing with a movement that came from the Green parties (high funded by the Soviets during the cold war) who were supported by a lot of bureaucrats hoping to cash but let me ask one question that seems to be missing here.

If this person actually believes that “Climate Change” is a danger to the planet and that millions will die from it, why would you be more worried about the ethnic makeup of the leadership since if they fail, it won’t matter since everybody would die anyway?

Now if you think these European voices are ineffective that’s fine, if you think they are not making headway that’s fine too, but if, as you say, we have to act NOW then the top concern has to be effectiveness not diversity.

Either you out to save the world or you’re not.

Now as I see this for the grift that it is, I don’t particularly care one way or the other about the feelings involved here, but I think it’s interesting to see where the priorities of all these folks are.

Texans, Meat, and Miscalculation

by baldilocks

Since nearly everyone is talking about the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein, I’m going to talk about something else. I don’t like to bore people – at least not intentionally.

Let’s talk about painting targets, since that’s what Rep Joaquin Castro (D-TX) did when he publicized a list of San Antonio donors to the Trump campaign in the wake of the latest mass shootings – in El Paso, TX and in Dayton, OH. Why would Castro do such a thing? You had to be on Twitter this past weekend to see the hurricane of accusations against President Trump – that his “racist rhetoric” and his support for “white supremacy (sic)” spurred these shooters. By the way, most of the Organized Left don’t want to talk about the Dayton shooting because the perpetrator was one of their minions — a big supporter of Elizabeth Warren.

Anyway, following the line of assertion that the president is a racist, Castro decided that certain Trump supporters who live in his district needed to be outed as racists. (Fun fact: at least two of the donors had also contributed to Castro.)

One of these supporters is Bill Miller Bar-B-Q.

Castro must have imagined thousands of San Antonians converging on the barbecue joints armed with torches and pitchforks, terrorizing customers in the drive-thru and staging boycotts. He must have dreamed about literally running the pit masters out of town.

But there are some rules about living in the Lone Star State. You go to church on Sunday. You don’t talk bad about somebody’s momma. And you don’t mess with the brisket.

The day after Castro published that hateful screed, thousands of Texans piled into their pickup trucks and drove to the nearest Bill Miller Bar-B-Q.

Social media reports flooded in showing massive drive-thru lines backing up onto busy streets. Hungry customers patiently waited in lines out the door.

I guess Castro forgot that his district is in Texas.

Update(DTG) It’s been a lot of years since our backup site has had an instalanche but with our primary site having problems and in the process of being updated and moved to a new host you’ll find our Magnificent Seven writers on either site for a while. Welcome. Find out why Donald Trump will be re-elected in five sentences but hear a warning lesson for him on the 2nd amendment. Check out Christopher Harper on this site here, and RH the navy man on our main site talking about a rusty problem here and discover why Joe Scarborough apparently doesn’t watch his own show and while why the I think the Clintons had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein’s death, but hope you think so and finally what the plan for both sites is.
