Yeah, I’m from California. So what?
Call me paranoid, but I think things like this are intentional.
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell on Monday claimed Florida’s Broward County election supervisor Brenda Snipes is a Republican, despite the fact she is a Democrat.
“We should also point out that Brenda Snipes in Broward County is a Republican appointed by former governor, then-Governor Jeb Bush,” Mitchell said in a clip flagged by Mediaite. “So, she was put in by a Republican governor after the mess that we all remember from 2000. And she’s hardly a Democratic official, or someone doing the bidding of the Democratic candidates there.”
Snipes self-identifies as a Democrat and has run as a Democrat for her current position.
Florida’s Senate and gubernatorial races are undergoing recounts after results from Election Day show narrow leads for Republicans Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis.
Mainstream media sorts have a noticeable tendency to put out information which is unfavorable to the political right, then submit a correction. They do this because they know that the correction is much less well-remembered in the mind of the average consumer of news than is the incorrect information.
And why would Andrea Mitchell “accidentally” mislabel Brenda Snipes as a Republican? Because Snipes has a long reputation in her office: a history of controversy.
US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has been on a tear about this year’s controversy on his Twitter feed. A couple of examples:
#PalmBeachCounty elections supervisor bans media cameras from public ballot counting & threatens them with arrest.

Incompetent law breaking election officials lead to chance for lawyers to steal an election
Dem lawyers aren’t here to make sure every vote is counted. They’re here to get as many votes for their client as possible counted & get as many votes for opponent as possible thrown out

Turning back to Mitchell’s faux pas, I think that she had her orders –to plant the idea the Snipes was not a Democrat — because the media honchos sense that Snipes’ image is a bad one and that a significant portion of the viewing public, regardless of party, sees her as the bad guy. So they spread disinformation, then correct it.
This tactic also may indicate something else: that the Media-Democrat Party is close to abandoning Snipes. In preparation, it’s necessary to paint the target.
